Borussia Dortmund’s summer Premier League recruitment drive continued on Tuesday with the signing of midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea until 2030.
England under-21 representative Chukwuemeka, 21, joins for a reported fee of 25 million euros ($29 million).
He spent the second half of last season at Dortmund on loan, staying on as the club made the quarter-finals at the Club World Cup.
Chukwuemeka played 17 times for Dortmund in all competitions, scoring once and impressed despite struggling with injury.
In a statement, Chukwuemeka said he was “happy Borussia Dortmund is now my footballing home. I will give everything to make sure we achieve our goals as a team”.
Born in Austria, Chukwuemeka moved to England at a young age and came through Aston Villa’s youth academy before signing with Chelsea in 2022.
Dortmund sporting director Lars Ricken said the club was “delighted” to sign Chukwuemeka, who “further increases the quality and creativity of our attacking midfield”.
Dortmund also signed Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland and Yan Couto from Manchester City this summer.
Jobe’s brother Jude joined Dortmund from boyhood club Birmingham City in 2020 aged 17, moving to Real Madrid three years later for a fee estimated at 100 million euros ($117 million).
German tabloid Bild reported on Tuesday that two further Premier League signings could arrive before deadline day on Monday — Chelsea defender Aaron Anselmino and Wolves striker Fabio Silva.
Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, who has had two previous stints at Dortmund and just ended a loan spell at Chelsea, has also been linked with a return to the Westfalenstadion.
On Tuesday morning, Dortmund extended coach Niko Kovac’s contract by one year until 2027.
Rasheedat Ajibade, a star of Nigeria, has signed for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Féminines, where she will collaborate with fellow rival Jennifer Echegini.
The Super Falcon’s arrival comes as a result of PSG’s statement on Tuesday announcing the signing of Nigerian striker Rasheedat Busayo Ajibade, who has signed a deal that runs until June 30th, 2027.
A “Major Step” For Ajibade
An excited Ajibade, affectionately known as “Mummy G,” arrived shortly after her unveiling. O. “Her move to France was a “major step” in her career, she said.
The 2018 WAFCON champion stated on the website of the club, “I’m very pleased to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, a top-drawer club in Europe.” “This is a significant step for me,” I said, “and I’m determined to give everything I can to help PSG win titles and inspire young footballers, whether they are from Nigeria or elsewhere.”
The former FC Robo Queens forward spent four and a half seasons with Atletico Madrid Femenino in Spain.

Avaldsnes IL’s Ajibade, 25, left the Norwegian side for the Spanish side in 2021. In 139 games for Atletico, she helped Atletico win the 2021 Spanish Super Cup and the 2023 Copa de la Reina. The Nigerian made eight goals and three assists in 25 games during the campaign for 2024/25.
Her arrival in France comes a week after her 10-game winning streak with the Super Falcons ended in a record-extending Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). In her second WAFCON victory, the captain of Nigeria was chosen as the tournament’s Player of the Tournament.
Ajibade represented the Super Falcons at the 2023 World Cup, where Nigeria advanced to the round of 16 before losing to England, at the birthplace of Mushin in Lagos on December 8, 1999.
Niko Kovac’s contract at Borussia Dortmund has been extended by one season until 2027, according to a statement released on Tuesday.
In January 2025, Kovac, a former manager of Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Monaco, signed an 18-month deal with the club and became the 11th position manager.
Kovac helped bring Dortmund’s season to a close with 22 of a possible 24 points and place in fourth place, the final Champions League spot, despite dropping as low as 13th.
We want to help Borussia Dortmund regain its former strength, Kovac stated in a statement.
“We still have a lot to do together,” he said.

Sebastian Kehl, the Dortmund sports director, said Kovac “appreaches every game with conviction, intensity, and passion,” adding that “we believe together we can continue the successful path of last season’s final spurt.”
Kovac, who was first regarded as a disciplinarian with a focus on fitness and work-rate, won the German Cup as Frankfurt manager in 2018.
Before being given his marching orders the following year, Kovac won the double in 2018 and 2018 before moving to Bayern.
The Berlin-born Kovac played for Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, and Hamburg as a player, scoring 14 goals and playing for Croatia 83 times.
In the final five minutes of the season, Dortmund were held to a disappointing 3-3 draw at St. Pauli, where they each conceded two goals and were reduced to 10 men.
The final event before the Tokyo world championships is this week’s Diamond League final in Zurich, where Federand Omanyala, who is the African 100-meter record, will be competing. Omanyala is injured.
The 29-year-old is one of 17 Kenyans who has qualified for Zurich, where the world’s elite athletes will compete on Wednesday and Thursday.
In light of recent severe hip, leg, and glute pain, Omanyala said, “I regret to inform you that I will not be able to participate in the Diamond League final.”
He stated in a statement posted on Instagram that he was optimistic about his recovery and that he would be fit for Tokyo (September 13 to 21).

Omanyala, the only male athlete to compete in the 100 meters in Tokyo at the Kenyan trials in July, was chosen because he set the African 100-meter record of 9: 77 in September 2021.
This season, he has struggled to find his winning ways in the Diamond League.
In a race won by South Africa’s Akani Simbine and Jamaica’s Olympic champion Kishane Thompson, he finished second in China and Morocco, but he came in last in Shanghai.
Beatrice Chebet, a three-time world 1500m champion, and Faith Kipyegon, a three-time champion in the 10,000m will compete in Zürich.
They join Emmanuel Wanyonyi, the 800-meter champion at the Olympics and gold medalist in the Diamond League, who has won four games while moving the fastest this year.
Real Madrid defeated Real Oviedo 3-0 in La Liga on Sunday to defeat Kylian Mbappe once more on the spot.
The arrival of the 15-time European champions was a grand occasion for Oviedo, who had been out for almost a quarter of a century, and the Asturian fans made their presence known.
In the north of Spain, Mbappe and Vinicius Junior were the stars. Before the Brazilian slid in the final third, the Frenchman added a brace.
In place of Rodrygo Goes and club captain Dani Carvajal, who both returned from injury, in Madrid’s opening 1-0 victory over Osasuna, coach Xabi Alonso made a few notable changes to his starting lineup.

Vinicius made a half-hour comeo with an assist and goal to give up after the drop.
Alonso praised the game as being “very serious and very complete.” “With and without the ball,” assembling a team.
And Vini joined us and played a part in those two objectives that gave us rest. Everyone will enjoy the games.
According to the statement, “Decisions are made with the team in mind, and that’s how it is today.”

Franco Mastantuono, an Argentine teenager sensation, made his Los Blancos debut in a different way.
The 18-year-old showed off his explosive dribbling ability early on when he burst past two defenders inside the Oviedo box before going down and appealingly gazing at the uninterested referee.
Leander Dendoncker made a rare move in the 23rd minute to try to save Thibaut Courtois with a chipped effort, but the Belgian scorers had no trouble gathering the ball.
When Madrid’s goalkeeper Aaron Escandell superbly saved Arda Guler’s drive from inside the box, they were on the verge of making a breakthrough.
Contentious Opener
On 37 minutes, the Turkish international turned provider when he drilled a pass into Mbappe’s feet, which the Frenchman welcomed on the turn before slamming Escandell.
The home side yelled out loudly to meet the goal. When Dendoncker won possession back for his side in the build-up, Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni appeared to be following suit strongly.
Vinicius and Brahim Diaz made way for Rodrygo and the lively Mastantuono shortly after the hour.
Escandell produced a fingertip save, but Diaz immediately gave the galloping Fede Valverde a chance.
When Kwasi Sibo struck the post for Oviedo out of nowhere, Courtois rooted the spot, on 81 minutes, just inches from unleashing the home support.

Madrid was awakened by that chance. After two minutes, Vinicius drove the ball forward before slipping a covert pass to Mbappe, who slotted home first.
When Diaz found him in space and fired a composed finish into the 93rd minute, the Brazilian made it 2-0.
Villarreal also defeated Girona 5-0 at home thanks to Tajon Buchanan’s hat-trick to open his La Liga account.
Girona, who played Champions League football last season, is bottom of the table with seven goals conceded and none scored as a result of a second consecutive defeat to start the season.
A Villarreal-classic team will run you over when you don’t compete at 100%, according to Girona coach Michel Sanchez.
“That’s what occurred,” the statement read. We play to earn the respect and pride of the people, but we failed to accomplish our goals.
Within 30 minutes, Buchanan scored twice as the home side jumped to a 4-0 lead. Nicolas Pepe and Rafa Marin added goals.
The Yellow Submarine gave the Canadian his third bow four minutes after the hour to cap a stunning performance.
Real Sociedad rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the Basque country to earn a point against Espanyol.
In eight second-half minutes, Sociedad were led by Pere Milla and Javi Puado before Ander Barrenetxea and Orri Oskarsson responded.
After falling 1-1 at Fulham on Sunday, Manchester United are still without a Premier League victory, while Everton, who embodied Jack Grealish, won 2-0 at Brighton to open their new stadium.
As they were relegated to Craven Cottage, Bruno Fernandes’ side were left to rue their first-half penalty at the hands of Ruben Amorim.
On the hour mark, Rodrigo Muniz scored the winning goal, but Fulham rallied back on the bench to save a point.

Amorim’s new £200 million ($270 million) forward line, which includes Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko, has not yet fired despite a disastrous 15th-place finish last season.
United will now feel as though another two points have been lost in west London following their season opener against title-chasing Arsenal, which ended in a 1-0 defeat.
However, Fulham believed that two contentious calls were handled favorably by the visitors.
Following a VAR review of Calvin Bassey’s grappling on Mason Mount, United received the penalty.
Although Fernandes is typically trustworthy right away, he blasted his effort over the bar.
United did finally score their season opener through Leny Yoro’s header after a Fulham body as Muniz deflected the ball into his own net.
However, the home side complained that Yoro had pushed Bassey this time and VAR did not intervene.

Everton’s newest era
Everton are hoping the move to a new 53, 000 capacity stadium will rekindle their bygone glory days after a heartfelt bid to the club’s former home, Goodison Park, which they have owned since 1892.
Only four clubs have won more titles than Everton’s nine in English football.
However, they haven’t won a significant trophy in 30 years and have struggled to stay in the top three at Goodison.
“We’re trying to move the club forward,” the club said. Manager David Moyes praised the move as a significant step forward for Everton.
Grealish has so far been Moyes’ most notable addition to his squad and has shown glimpses of the talent that led to Manchester City’s purchase of Aston Villa for $ 100 million in 2014. He also provided the assist for both goals.
In May, Iliman Ndiaye scored the final goal for Goodison against Southampton, and he also made history with his first goal at Everton’s new stadium.
Ndiaye perfectly timed his run to meet at the back post in 23 minutes after a drilled left foot cross that Grealish had created.
Brighton wasted a lot of chances by leaving Merseyside empty-handed.
Danny Welbeck spooned over with the goal gaping as Kaoru Mitoma hit the bar and Jan Paul van Hecke’s effort hit the post.
Early in the second period, James Garner’s blistering strike from Grealish’s lay-off doubled Everton’s lead.
Welbeck’s poor penalty was saved by Jordan Pickford to cap a memorable afternoon for the Toffees, but Brighton still had a chance to create a nervy finale.
Nuno no go

Nuno Espirito Santo, manager of Nottingham Forest, vowed to stay in charge despite their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.
Ismaila Sarr’s first-half opener for Palace was saved by Callum Hudson-Odoi, who scored the winning goal.
As a result of the slim chances that Nuno would become the first Premier League manager of the season to be fired, Nuno claimed on Friday that his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis had deteriorated.
That is absurd. The Portuguese coach, who questioned whether he was trying to engineer a club exit, said, “That makes no sense.”
