Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka hit a tee box marker into the crowd before withdrawing from the first round of the LIV Golf event in Dallas.

The American, 35, smashed his club into the ground then struck the marker on the left of the tee towards a small group of fans after a poor tee shot on the ninth hole at Maridoe Golf Club.

The marker did not appear to hit anyone.

Koepka pulled out on six over par after playing eight holes.

He was replaced by Mexican reserve Luis Carrera for the remainder of the round, with their combined score counting towards their team Smash GC’s score.

LIV said Koepka can return for the second and third rounds but his score would contribute only to his team’s.

Players compete individually and for teams at LIV events.

They tee off at the same time on different holes, known as a shotgun start.

Koepka, who has won five times on the LIV tour, missed the cut at the Masters in April and the US PGA Championship in May, and finished tied for 12th at this month’s US Open.

Speaking about his form after the first round of the US Open, he said: “I would say from the first weekend in April until about last week, you didn’t want to be around me.

” It drove me nuts. It ate at me. I haven’t been happy. It’s been very irritating. “

Players who experience a “serious injury” during a game will be tested in domestic first-class cricket.

Anytime during a game, including the warm-up period, a player may be replaced by a “like-for-like” replacement.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) will begin its six-month trial in October with full members of the organization.

Teams may substitute injured players on the field, but the “substitute shall not bowl or play captain but may only serve as wicketkeeper with the team’s permission,” according to the rules.

The only circumstance is when a player experiences a concussion.

Richard Ngarava, a pace bowler for Zimbabwe and Richard Ngarava, a back problem on day one of the Test against England at Trent Bridge, highlighted the injury issue last month.

Makin makes history with PSA Squash Tour Finals title win

World Tour of the PSA

After defeating Mostafa Asal at Toronto’s Revival Film Studios, British number one Joel Makin defeated world number one Mostafa Asal to reach the PSA Squash Tour Finals.

After the 30-year-old went 1-0 up in the third game, Asal, 24, left the match due to an ankle injury. The Egyptian then won the third game 11-10 and 11-7.

Makin won the tenth and biggest title of his career while appearing in his first major PSA final.

Following his victory at the Silicon Valley Open in October 2024, Makin won his second title of the year.

“I’ve just been chipping away,” Makin asserted. “It’s not been a quick process.

“It was a really high quality one, like last night [against Diego Elias],” he said. We had two excellent games, but the third was frustrating because we couldn’t keep going.

In the first game, it was really high quality, “At sudden death again.” It’s unsettling that he [Asal] wasn’t in the right mindset.

“I’m happy to win, but I want to win,” the statement read. When he plays well, I want to know how much I dislike him.

You just have to keep trying, keep improving, and come out and give my best performance on the night. “It’s been another good week, it wasn’t my best stuff in the group stages.

Olivia Weaver of the United States was defeated 11-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-3 by world number one Egypt, world number one Nouran Gohar, who won the women’s trophy.

Aitana Bonmati, a midfielder for Spain, is receiving treatment for viral meningitis.

The 27-year-old, who has won the Ballon d’Or twice in the past two years, was unavailable for Friday’s 3-1 friendly win over Japan in Leganes, Spain.

Spain play Portugal in their opening Group B game on Thursday in Bern, and Euro 2025 in Switzerland kicks off on Wednesday.

Bonmati, who also won the 2023 and 2024 Fifa women’s player of the year, posted a photo of herself watching the Japan game from a hospital bed.

She was taken to a hospital in Madrid on Friday after being denied a treatment by doctors from the Spanish Football Federation, who later confirmed the diagnosis.

She plays a significant role for us, she said. We’ll be able to wait as long as we can.

Bonmati was a key member of the Spain squad that won the 2023 World Cup and the Nations League last year and has 30 goals in 78 games.

Meningitis affects the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord, and if not treated quickly, it can be serious.
