Selected others: -10 H Hall (Eng), -8 T Finau (US) -5 D Skinns (Eng)

Australia’s Min Woo Lee claimed his first PGA Tour win with victory at the Houston Open in a dramatic finish.

Lee was leading by three shots on 21 under from Scottie Scheffler and Gary Woodland when he put his tee shot into the water at the par-five 16th and carded a bogey.

Woodland finished with an eagle and two birdies from his final four holes to equal the course record of 62 and set the clubhouse lead at 19 under.

World number one Scheffler, playing in the penultimate group, had a chance to take a share of the lead on the 17th but missed a putt for a fifth consecutive birdie – and also ended on 19 under after a final-round 63.

Lee needed a par on the 18th to secure victory and managed it, holding his nerve to card a 67 and finish one shot clear on 20 under.

“It’s hard, really hard”, said Lee, 26, after his triumph. “Scottie is a wonderful golfer and he keeps you on your toes.

” This is my first time being in front and trying to hold a lead. I’m glad I got it done, but man, I’m just very exhausted.

“It was a lot of mental grind. I’m so proud of the way I handled myself”.

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy produced an impressive six-under-par round of 64, which included an eagle, six birdies and a bogey, as he got to 15 under.

“It was a good week”, said McIlroy, who is hoping to complete a career Grand Slam by winning the Masters at Augusta next month.

“I still feel like I’ve got some stuff to work on. Overall, a solid week and nice to have another week to get ready and fine tune my game for Augusta.

‘No further action’ – Kerr to remain Australia captain

Sam Kerr will remain as Australia captain after the country’s football association ruled out any further disciplinary action following the player’s court case.

Last month Chelsea striker Kerr was found not guilty of causing racially aggravated harassment after calling a Metropolitan Police officer “stupid and white” in an incident in Twickenham on 30 January 2023.

In a joint statement with Football Australia, after meeting members of the organisation’s board, 31-year-old Kerr expressed her “sincere regret for how events unfolded”.

Football Australia said it had “concluded that Kerr’s professional and sincere acceptance of responsibility, as well as her acknowledgment of the far-reaching implications of on and off-field actions, warranted no further action”.

“Knowing how Sam feels about the events, along with the additional context we’ve learned, has added vital perspective that the general public may not be aware of”, said Football Australia chairman Anter Isaac.

Kerr, who has not played since the end of 2023 after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament during training in January 2024, said: “I recognise that leadership means being mindful of our actions both on and off the pitch.

” I’m proud of the Matildas, the role I have played as a member of that team and everything we stand for, and I’m committed to learning from this experience.

“Moving forward, I’m focused on doing my part to ensure we grow even stronger together, and I look forward to having the opportunity of re-joining the team once I’m fit and ready”.

Kerr, who joined Chelsea in 2019, the same year she was named Australia captain, returned to individual training in January.

While not yet fit to play matches, she has joined the Matildas training camp for their upcoming friendly fixtures against South Korea.
