Tiger Woods paid tribute to his parents, who he described as “my biggest fan,” on Tuesday by revealing that his mother Kutilda had passed away. ”
“It is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning,” the 15-time major champion wrote on Instagram.
“My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable. She had a quick laugh and a quick needle. She was my biggest fan, and greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible.
“She was loved by so many, but especially by her two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie.
In this difficult time for me and my family, I thank you all for your prayers, privacy, and support. Love you Mom. ”
In Bangkok in the late 1960s, Thai national Kutilda met Woods’ father Earl while he was a member of the US military.
Woods has frequently elatedly described how his mother’s support helped shape his career, noting in an interview that he was more afraid of her than his father, and is present on the course during his greatest successes.
“He was very worldly and deep in his thinking,” Woods said of his father. “My mom was the enforcer. Although my father may have served in the Special Forces, I never worried about him.
