Alison Hammond is best known for her bubbly personality while presenting This Morning along with Dermot O’Leary. However, according to her son and Celebrity Gogglebox co-star Aidan, the TV presenter wasn’t always a delight to live with.

Alison, 50, who soared to fame following her memorable stint on Big Brother back in 2002, made her Celebrity Gogglebox debut last night, critiquing TV shows with her rarely seen sister Saundra and her 20 year old son. Giving fans a more intimate account of his mother while growing up, Aidan revealed that he used to run away from home and stay with his grandmother, who lived across the road.

And this would happen on a regular basis every time he and Alison failed to agree on certain things. Speaking on the Spin Justice podcast, Aidan said: “When we were in the flat, she (his grandmother) had a house pretty much opposite us, so we could literally leave and run across the road. “

He added: “So when my mum was doing my head in, I’d just go to my nan’s. “

Before Alison’s mother Maria sadly passed away five years ago, the trio enjoyed an incredibly special bond. Aidan described their relationship as “very, very close”.

Despite his youthful age, Aidan is no stranger to the world of TV after appearing on a number of quiz shows with his mum and starring in their very own travel show, Florida Unpacked which aired on BBC Two.

He then went on to say: “She’s passed away now, but we were very close all the time – me, my mum and my nan – and that was kind of the little trio. “

Alison will sit along side her sister and son for their debut on the popular TV show, mugs in hand ready to analyse TV shows watched by the nation.

Speaking about sharing the moment with another family member apart from her son, Alison chimed in: “I’m so excited to be doing Celebrity Gogglebox with my son Aidan. “

She said: “We’ve always loved watching telly together, and now we get to do it on the sofa for the nation! It’s a real family affair too, because my fabulous sister Saundra is getting involved as well. “

The Great British Bake Off presenter then went on to say: “Expect laughs, eye-rolls, and lots of commentary, classic Hammond style!”

Alison and her family with join the cast of the new series for the charity Stand Up To Cancer.

A TV source reportedly told The Sun: “Producers were impressed by the dynamic between Aidan and his mum on their new travel show, so wanted a piece of it for Celebrity Gogglebox. “

They added: “They’re always looking for new duos to appear on the programme to keep it constantly feeling fresh, and, of course, fronting the Great British Bake Off means she’s already part of the C4 family. “

River Seine reopens to Paris swimmers, after Olympics, century-long ban

The iconic River Seine has reopened to swimmers in Paris, allowing people to take a dip in the French capital’s waterway for the first time in at least a century after a more than billion-euro cleanup project that made it suitable for Olympic competitions last year.

A few dozen people arrived ahead of the 8am (06:00 GMT) opening on Saturday at the Bras Marie zone in the city’s historic centre, diving into the water for the long-awaited moment under the watchful eyes of lifeguards wearing fluorescent yellow T-shirts and carrying whistles.

It was also a welcome respite from the scorching heat enveloping the city this week. Parisians and tourists alike, looking to cool off this summer, can dive in – weather permitting – at three bathing sites: one close to Paris’s Notre-Dame cathedral, another near the Eiffel Tower and a third in eastern Paris.

The swimming zones are equipped with changing rooms, showers and beach-style furniture, offering space for 150 to 300 swimmers.

The seasonal opening of the Seine for swimming is seen as a key legacy of the Paris 2024 Olympics, when open-water swimmers and triathletes competed in its waters, which were specially cleaned for the event.

“It’s a childhood dream to have people swimming in the Seine,” said Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, who visited the bras Marie site on Saturday morning.

But officials reminded swimmers of potential dangers, including strong currents, boat traffic and an average depth of 3. 5 metres (11 feet).

“The Seine remains a dangerous environment,” said local official Elise Lavielle earlier this week.

To mitigate that risk, lifeguards will assess visitors’ swimming abilities before allowing independent access, while a decree issued in late June introduced fines for anyone swimming outside designated areas.

The promise to lift the swimming ban dates back to 1988, when then-mayor of Paris and future President Jacques Chirac first advocated for its reversal, about 65 years after the practice was banned in 1923.

“One of my predecessors (Chirac), then mayor of Paris, dreamed of a Seine where everyone could swim,” President Emmanuel Macron wrote on X, describing the move as the result of a “collective effort” and a moment of “pride” for France.

Ahead of the Olympic Games, authorities invested approximately 1. 4 billion euros ($1. 6bn) to improve the Seine’s water quality.

Since then, work carried out upstream, including 2,000 new connections to the sewage system, promises even better water quality – with an unappetising catch.

On rainy days, the mid-19th-century Parisian sewage system often overflows, causing rain and wastewater to pour into the river.

Flags will inform bathers about pollution levels in the water every day, and if it rains, the sites will likely close the day after, said Paris city official Pierre Rabadan.

The presence of the faecal bacteria Escherichia coli (E coli) and enterococci in the Seine will be assessed daily using live sensors and samples.

A refuge from the hot weather

Varying weather conditions will be a critical factor. Swimmers may be in luck this year, though, with temperatures predicted to be drier than the record rainfall during the games, which had led to the cancellation of six of the 11 competitions held on the river.

With record-breaking heat hitting Europe, including France’s second warmest June since records began in 1900, authorities said they expect Parisians to embrace the relief of a refreshing swim.

Some scepticism about the water quality remains, however.

Dan Angelescu, founder and CEO of Fluidion, a Paris and Los Angeles-based water monitoring tech company, has routinely and independently tested bacterial levels in the Seine for several years. Despite being in line with current regulations, the official water-testing methodology has limitations and undercounts the bacteria, he said.

“What we see is that the water quality in the Seine is highly variable,” Angelescu said. “There are only a few days in a swimming season where I would say water quality is acceptable for swimming. ”

Some Parisians are also hesitant about the idea of swimming in the Seine. The feeling is often reinforced by the water’s murky colour, floating litter and multiple tourist boats in some places.

Hidalgo, who took an inaugural swim last year, said that cleaning up the Seine for the Olympics was not the final goal but part of a broader effort to adapt the city to climate change and enhance quality of life.

Noel Gallagher’s daughter, Anais, has given a five-word review of her dad’s epic Oasis reunion gig, which brought the house down in Cardiff last night. Liam Gallagher, 52, and his older brother, Noel, 58, performed on stage together for the first time in 16 years in the Welsh capital and didn’t disappoint their legion of loyal fans, who were lucky enough to have bagged a ticket.

Among them was proud daughter Anais, who shared a snap of herself, holding a pint, sporting an Oasis shirt as she watched her dad and uncle perform on stage. Giving a review of the special night, Anais, 25, captioned the snap: “It’s good to be back. “

Responding to her post, many fans agreed as one replied, saying: “It was amazing, epic, hope you enjoyed it” while another simply declared: “EPIC! “

Anais’ mum Meg Mathews, who was married to Noel from 1997 until 2001, was also in the audience – but was seen walking out of the reunion gig ahead of the band playing Wonderwall. The song may be a difficult listen to Meg, who Noel originally claimed inspired the song.

A string of famous faces were spotted in the crowd as Oasis reunited in a comeback tour, which has been on the top of fans’ wish lists for more than a decade.

The band were seen walking onto the stage with their song ‘F**king in the Bushes’ before they then started belting out ‘Hello’. The crowd welcomed them with cheers at the sold out gig, which kicks off a global tour for the Don’t Look Back In Anger stars.

In the audience was the likes of EastEnders star Danny Dyer as well as Line Of Duty actress Vicky McClure. Vernon Kay also posed for pictures outside the Principality Stadium.

“Hey, beautiful people, it’s been too long,” Liam told the giddy crowd, which also included the likes of Glastonbury founder, Emily Eavis.

Liam thanked the 70,000 fans who attended Oasis’ first reunion gig in Cardiff for ‘putting up with them over the years’. The singer and his brother Noel have exchanged a bitter war of words for 16 years, with fans giving up on the idea that Oasis would reunite for another tour.

However, they shocked the world when they announced last year that they would be embarking on an epic global tour. Cardiff was blessed with the very first gig on Friday night, with the brothers holding hands and raising them to the sky as they walked out onto the stage.

The likes of Champagne Supernova, Supersonic and Slide Away were performed, with Noel pausing for a few bars while singing Half The World Away to take in the sensational scenes in front of him.

After Oasis the stage at the end of the night, fans stomped and cheered as they demanded an encore.

The band then returned to sing The Masterplan, Don’t Look Back In Anger and Wonderwall before Liam thanked fans for supporting them.

Still reeling from the last two and half hours on stage, he said: “Thank you, beautiful people. This is it. Nice one for putting up with us over the years. We are hard work, we get it. “

Olay’s ‘anti-wrinkle’ moisturiser that’s ‘better than high end brands’ is currently 63% off

Amazon has slashed the price of Olay’s anti-ageing moisturiser by 63% in an early Prime Day deal and shoppers say it’s ‘better than high end brands’

Amazon’s early Prime Day Deal sees Olay’s day cream slashed by 63%(Image: Amazon)

Amazon Prime Day is on the horizon, and in the lead up the online retailer has been slashing prices on hundreds of products. And one that caught our attention was the amazing discount on Olay’s Regenerist Whip Moisturiser.

Originally priced at £38, this hydrating face cream is now £14 – that’s a huge 63% discount. Whipped face products have been a popular beauty trend over the past few years, with products like Drunk Elephant’s Lala Retro Whipped Cream and Bondi Sands’ Daydream Whipped Moisturiser around.

So what exactly is a whipped moisturiser? It’s a cream that’s been whipped up to incorporate air, resulting in an ultra-lightweight, fluffy consistency.

And that’s exactly the texture of Olay’s highly rated moisturiser. This anti-wrinkle cream features 99% pure Niacinamide, which helps to promote skin cell renewal and anti-ageing peptides that are proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

On top of this, the cream features SPF 30 making it the ideal base for the summertime.

Olay's Regenerist Moisturiser
Shoppers have praised the non-greasy feel and lightweight texture of Olay’s Regenerist moisturiser(Image: Amazon)

Shoppers can’t get enough of this cream praising its non-greasy feel, lightweight texture and hydrating results that feel comparable to luxury brands.

One reviewer wrote: “I have always used various Olay products all my adult life and I’m in my 60s. Have tried other brands but always come back to Olay This particular one is very creamy but sinks into the skin quickly and feels light I apply it in the morning and my skin feels moisturised all day. It has a touch of luxury when using it and lasts well”

A second added: “As an older person I have used Olay products for years (since called Ullay) and found them to be value for money especially with spf. I steered away from spending the extra on this but when my skin was looking sallow and make up didn’t sit well I decided to give it a go I was nor expecting miracles (I am almost 70! ). I saw a difference after a couple of uses my skin felt tighter and hydrated giving back a dewyness. ”

The main criticism came from shoppers who think the product is too expensive for the amount you receive. A shopper said: “Bit pricey considering it is whip, meaning there is slightly less actual product than original. ”

British number three Sonay Kartal has said she wants help picking a new tattoo after reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon.

The 23-year-old booked her place in the last 16 with a 6-4 6-2 victory over France’s Diane Parry on Friday.

Kartal will face Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the next round on Sunday, but has made no secret of her desire to add to the 14 tattoos she already has.

“I’m not one to say no to a tattoo,” she said after her win over Parry. “I think I can easily be persuaded.

“I’m just lacking on a few creative ideas myself so if people have any ideas let me know and I’m sure that I will definitely get one. “

Kartal was ranked 298th in the world before Wimbledon last year but is now 51st and is the only Briton left in the women’s singles draw.

Her run at this year’s tournament is her best ever performance at a Grand Slam, beating her appearance in the third round in 2024.

Of her 14 tattoos, Kartal includes the year ‘2022’ to mark the first time she played in all four Grand Slams.
