MotoGP leader Marquez claims seventh straight win

Reuters

Marc Marquez won the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, earning him a seventh successive MotoGP victory.

The Spanish rider struggled to win the opening lap of the Balaton Park circuit in Balatonfokajar after starting from pole position on his Ducati and fell to third.

Marco Bezzecchi, an Italian Aprilia rider, finished third while Pedro Acosta, a 21-year-old compatriot, finished second on his KTM.

With eight races left, Marquez’s championship lead has increased to 175 points, thanks to Marquez’s brother Alex’s 23 points.

The 32-year-old completed his 10th consecutive sprint-GP double as a result of his efforts to win the 2025 championship.

Marquez turned two after making contact with Bezzecchi and retreated to pole.

He said, “I had to touch the brakes and go wide when I saw Marco inside.”

“Then I began to attack, and the rhythm was incredible. I’m so happy that I was rolling around the track.

At the start of lap two, Alex Marquez crashed, and the Ducati-Gresini rider ended up 14th.

Jorge Martin, the reigning world champion, finished in 16th place, just ahead of teammate Bezzecchi, who has won three straight podium finishes for the first time in his career.

Marc Marquez has won seven straight races in order to win his second MotoGP title, which comes after the race result. His most recent victory in the 2019 championship resembles a near-formal one.

On what would have been Jamal’s 35th birthday, Brenda Edwards paid him a heartfelt tribute to him three and a half years after his tragic passing. The 31-year-old DJ and entrepreneur passed away in 2022.

The Loose Women star, 56, took to Instagram on Saturday (August 23) and shared a picture of Jamal wearing a black cap and looking into the distance. She penned: “On your first birthday, I took you to Notting Hill Carnival.

I and Nishee will be celebrating you at the Carnival as it falls on your 35th birthday today! I cherish everything about you, including your smile, laugh, and sense of optimism.

“You have been with me holding my hand and guiding my steps that I take in your name. So I’m gonna party hard in your honour as I celebrate you my beautiful baby. I love you Jamal now and always. Come on,” the ITV personality concluded with a blue heart emoji.

Brenda’s fans emailed the comments section in hopes of receiving condolence messages as well as messages of support for the family.

“Oh Brenda,” one person said. I can’t imagine your grief after receiving such sincere love. As you observe your Jamal’s heavenly birthday today, may his happy memories of him in that carnival atmosphere bring comfort and light to you and your family. He is always there for you.

Another fan commented, “Brendan and family, you are in my thoughts today.” Someone else expressed “Love to you and your daughter” and said “Happy heavenly birthday to your boy Jamal.”

Thinking of you, a fourth well-wisher said. Hope you find solace in juggling your day as Jamal would have you. Celebrate his life with a special blessing.

In February this year, Brenda opened up about her loss while appearing on Loose Women alongside her co-stars Christine Lampard, Jane Moore and Coleen Nolan.

As they explained their different motivations for moving homes, the four women discussed moving home and the memories that properties can leave behind.

After Jamal’s unexpected passing in February 2022, Brenda opened up about her decision to move with her daughter Tanisha and talk about the numerous times she’d moved.

Brenda revealed that she had moved 13 times in her life, with nine of those times occurring after the age of 18. She openly discussed leaving her ex-husband’s home for more than 20 years and moving as a child following the deaths of her parents.

The singer then discussed moving home after Jamal’s passing, saying, “I made the decision to move from the other house that we moved to after Jamal passed.

We all shared a bright home, they said. However, the walls suddenly appeared extremely dim when he passed. It was just incredibly gloomy, and I can’t explain that.

Arteta Backs Eze To Create ‘Magic Moments’ At Arsenal

According to Gunners manager Mikel Arteta, Eberechi Eze will create “magic moments” and elevate Arsenal to a whole new level.

Eze was presented to the Emirates crowd shortly before Arsenal’s 5-0 victory over Leeds, which established the north London side as a Premier League champion.

After Arsenal scuppered his proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal have agreed to a four-year contract in a deal that could be worth up to £68 million ($92 million).

Although the 27-year-old did not arrive in time to face Leeds, Eze might be given his Gunners debut against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday with both Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard injured in their second win in as many games.

He can produce these magical moments, according to Arteta.

“He can do it in a variety of positions and circumstances.” He has that charisma and flair that is infectious.

It demonstrates how much we want to change the course of this organization. His skill is unquestionable. He has knowledge of this category. Amazing people there.

He has versatility. He can play either right or left as an attacking midfielder. He is uninterested. And you can tell from what transpired on the pitch before the game that he is so blessed to have him.

With the signings of Viktor Gyokeres, Cristhian Mosquera, Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, and Noni Madueke, Arsenal have now spent about $ 290 million on the summer transfer window.

Arsenal has won a trophy five years ago and finished second in the Premier League every three years.

Eze’s signing, however, adds to their resolve to put an end to a 22-year wait for the Premier League title.

After scoring the winning goal in the Eagles’ FA Cup final victory over Manchester City in May, Eze is assured of a place in Crystal Palace history as a result of his return to the boyhood club Arsenal, which was their first major trophy.

In Leeds, Saka and Odegaard both suffered hamstring and shoulder injuries, respectively.

Saka missed three and a half months of last season with a broken right hamstring, and club captain Odegaard missed 12 games with an ankle issue as a result of injuries that prevented Arsenal from pursuing silverware.

On Sunday, the pair will go through scans to find out how many of their most recent setbacks they have experienced. Arteta continued, “You just have to see how many minutes the team played in 2023/24. The XI that comes first could be named.

Due to the number of injuries we had, and the start of the season not been as good as it was last year, “it was a little different.”

“We are, without a doubt, much more equipped, which is necessary. There is no other choice if you want to compete at this level and be extremely dominant.

Iran will stand up to US demands to be ‘obedient’, says Khamenei

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, claimed that the Iranian people would “be obedient” to it, but that the Iranian people would “resist” such “a grave insult,” according to state media on Sunday.

They demand that Iran follow American orders. During a Sunday religious gathering, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared, “The Iranian nation will stand with all of its power against those who have such false expectations.”

In a standoff with Western powers over Iran’s nuclear program, he said, “People who ask us not to issue slogans against the US only see appearances.”

Iran and the European Union agreed on Friday to resume discussions in an effort to resume negotiations to stop Tehran’s nuclear enrichment activities. If Tehran doesn’t agree to end its sanctions, France, Britain, and Germany have indicated that they will reactivate them under a “snapback” mechanism. On Tuesday, they are scheduled to meet for talks.

After Washington and Israel bombed its nuclear sites during a 12-day conflict in June, Tehran had suspended nuclear negotiations with the US.

Khamenei criticized “agents of America and the Zionist regime” for trying to sow division in Iran, saying that “the enemy’s way forward is to create discord.”

He urged Iranians to fight US-style “subjugation” and to remain united.

Iran is alleged to be working toward the development of nuclear weapons, along with the US and the European countries. Iran has argued, however, that its nuclear program is intended for civilian purposes.

Iran agreed to reduce its nuclear ambitions in exchange for sanctions relief in a landmark nuclear agreement signed in 2015 with the US and European nations.

US President Donald Trump withdrew from the deal in his first year in office in 2018 and reinstated sanctions as part of his “maximum pressure” strategy. Israel, Washington’s most apropiat regional ally, was also against the Iran deal.

Tehran and Washington were scheduled to hold their sixth round of discussions on Iran’s nuclear program in June 2025, which started a 12-day conflict. Negotiations that had begun weeks prior were halted by the conflict.
