Julien Stephan has been named as the team’s new head coach by the Queens Park Rangers.

Marti Cifuentes, 44, has taken over the club after being placed on gardening leave in April and formally leaving on Tuesday night.

Stephan led Rennes, his hometown club, for two spells, winning the French Cup in 2019, his first trophy in 48 years.

He spent 18 months at Strasbourg, where he was sacked in 2023, before moving back to Rennes, where he had previously worked. He left last November, after a rough start.

He told the club, “I’m very proud and excited to join QPR.”

I feel honored because QPR is a legendary club with strong values and devoted fans.

I was interested because I was aware of the high level of passion for the club and the team, and I consider that to be true.

English football has a distinctive quality. The club’s atmosphere, pace, the fans’ tempo, the atmosphere, and the culture surrounding it all contribute to a very stimulating environment for a coach.

Stephan, who is he?

With his professional career beginning at Bordeaux, Stephan started out as a defensive midfielder and center-back.

He also played for the B team of Paris St-Germain, RC Paris, Stade Briochin, and FC Drouais, retiring in 2007.

Before joining Chateauroux and Lorient’s under-19s team, he served as a youth coach at Drouais.

He then relocated to Rennes, where he was born, and began his coaching career there before taking the position of head coach in 2018.

Before quitting his position at RC Strasbourg, a fellow Ligue 1 team, in 2021, he took his next job.

At Strasbourg, Stephan managed 58 games during a 58-game winning streak until January 2023.

But he returned to Rennes in November that year as the club’s head coach before moving to QPR.

“I expect players to give it everything,” he says.

Working with some of the world’s brightest and most exciting young players, Stephan has established a positive reputation in France.

Raphinha, Raphael, Camavinga, Real Madrid, and Jeremy Doku, a former Manchester City player, all benefit from his coaching.

Stephan, who is now in the second tier of England, stated to the club that he has high expectations and standards for his players.

He said, “The main values are commitment, discipline, and teamwork.”

“I expect my players to put in the right attitude and show the right attitude on the field for the team, for the fans, and for the team.”

The shirt is not subject to negotiation, and it deserves complete respect.

A group with talent, commitment, and potential strikes me. I believe there is always more improvement to be done, but I believe the squad has great potential and a solid foundation to grow on.

Vietnam ends death penalty for crimes against the state, bribery, drugs

According to state media reports, Vietnam will abolish the death penalty for eight serious crimes, including embezzlement, attempts to overthrow the government, and sabotaging state infrastructure.

The National Assembly unanimously approved a criminal code amendment that would abolish the death penalty for eight criminal offenses, according to the state-run Vietnam News Agency.

Bribery, embezzlement, producing and trading counterfeit medications, illegally transporting narcotics, espionage, “the crime of destroying peace and causing aggressive war,” as well as sabotage and attempts to topple the government will no longer be the death penalty.

According to the news agency, life in prison will now be the maximum sentence for these crimes.

According to the report, those who were previously sentenced to death for capital offenses but have not yet been executed will receive a life sentence commute.

According to the report, the death penalty will apply to ten additional criminal offenses that are prohibited in Vietnam, including child molestation, treason, terrorism, and murder.

The most contentious topic at the National Assembly debate over the proposed criminal code amendment was last month’s one regarding the elimination of the death sentence for drug trafficking.

The harm caused by drug transport, whether it’s a few grams or a few tons, is enormous, according to one legislator, while removing the death sentence for drugs would send the wrong message at a time when the number of drug cases were rising across the nation.

Vietnam’s death row death penalty data is a state secret, and it is not known how many people are currently there.

The Glastonbury fun has already started as hundreds of thousands of festival goers have already arrived at the Somerset festival to bag their place when gates open at 8am.

Worthy Farm in Pilton will once again welcome thousands of music fans for a weekend of live music from artists including Olivia Rodrigo, Neil Young, Charli XCX and Rod Stewart.

Festivalgoers are beginning the festivities early on Wednesday morning (June 25) when gates open at 8am as a result of their early appearances in the crowd-crowd. Thousands of festivalgoers have waited through the night with their tent trolleys in search of the ideal spot.

Traffic is starting to build up around the site as people attempt to travel to the festival. Side roads close to the A361 and A37 are closed throughout the festival, making the A361 that passes through Pilton busier.

Fans can be seen holding bucket hats, rollers in their hair, and of course cans in their hands as they prepare for the festival. Fans of Britain’s biggest festival are in high spirits despite the gloomy weather.

Festival goers will be relieved to learn that Worthy Farm in Somerset has experienced a wet weather U-turn and that there is now sunshine forecast for the area.

The Met Office has stated that it will “set to warm up” again following this morning’s gloomy weather, though festivalgoers may need to get their wellies out tomorrow.

However, Brat Summer will be performed at Glasto on Saturday by Brat singer Charli XCX.

Charli – full name Charlotte Emma Aitchison – has been a regular face at music festivals across the world for over a decade. She’s been enjoying huge mainstream success since her sixth studio album last year introduced her to new fans – who are sure to be taking part in the viral Apple Dance.

Things seem calm for now, although those who try to ‘jump the fence’ to avoid the queues and try to gain access without a ticket will face a special ‘jail’ on site. Not only that, it’s there for anyone breaking the rules on site.

Over the years, security has significantly increased, according to reports that the Royal Family’s offer is more expensive.

After thousands of people allegedly snuck into the festival last year with fake wristbands and or by vaulting the fences, security is said to have been increased even further this year.

Some stages were forced to close in 2025 as a result of overcrowding, with some festivalgoers calling it the busiest Glasto ever.

Before being evacuated from the site or when police are called, the “Glastonbury Jail” serves as the official holding area. Although it’s not technically a jail, according to The Times, it’s still frequently referred to as one.

The festival will begin tonight at 10pm with a theatre and circus performance set in the Pyramid Arena for those who follow the rules.

Zohran Mamdani set to become Democratic candidate in New York mayoral race

After defeating former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in the first round of voting, 33-year-old state lawmaker Zohran Mamdani won the Democratic mayoral primary in New York City.

It always seems impossible until it is finished, Nelson Mandela said. It’s over, friends, done. And it was done by you. I’m honored to be your Democratic nominee for New York City’s mayor, Mamdani tweeted early on Wednesday morning.

Mamdani won 43.5 percent of the vote, while Cuomo won 36.4 percent, while Mamdani won the majority of the votes in Brooklyn, Queens, and other parts of Manhattan, while Cuomo won the Bronx and Staten Island.

Mamdani was largely unknown before the primary election, but he gained popularity as a self-described “democratic socialist” as a result of Donald Trump’s election as president of the United States.

His story echoes Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’, a different democratic socialist who gained notoriety in the US congressional elections in 2018 with a surprise victory, but the primary election is still ongoing.

Because of the primary voting process in New York, the five top candidates must be ranked, so the non-first-choice picks must still be cast in the coming days.

According to The Associated Press news agency, experts predict that Mamdani will likely surpass the 50% threshold as a result of strategic alliances with other candidates who will support him as a “second place” candidate.

If Mamdani defeats incumbent incumbent Eric Adams, who is running as an independent, and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa, who has a high chance of becoming the city’s first mayor of Asian heritage and first Muslim mayor.

Mamdani was born in Uganda to Indian parents, who later immigrated to the US. His father, Mahmood Mamdani, is a professor at Columbia University, and his mother, Mira Nair, an award-winning director, is also a professor there.

Mamdani’s public support for the Palestinian cause attracted anti-Semitism accusations from some New Yorkers during his campaign, but he attracted the support of progressive and younger voters who oppose US support for Israel’s occupation of Gaza.

The obligation to uphold international law

The Israel-Palestine conflict has particular resonance with voters even during municipal elections because New York has the largest Jewish population outside of Israel and also has a sizable Muslim population.

In an interview with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show in the days leading up to the election, Mamdani directly addressed some of these issues.

A well-known American comedian named Colbert emailed Mamdani, who stated that while Israel had the right to exist, it also had the obligation to uphold international law.

He also suggested creating a Department of Community Safety in New York and increasing funding for anti-hate crime programming by 800 percent, as well as acknowledging the rise in anti-Semitic violence in the US.

Mamdani’s campaign also advocated for rent freezes, free buses, and city-owned grocery stores, and addressed cost-of-living issues facing New Yorkers.

Cuomo, 67, was initially viewed as the party’s front-runner, but Mamdani received a boost from the controversy surrounding his campaign.

In response to allegations of sexual misconduct, Cuomo was forced to resign as governor of New York in 2021, and his campaign for mayor attempted to refinish his reputation.

Despite securing a $25 million super PAC, or independent expenditure-only political action committee, and the support of some of New York’s wealthiest people, including billionaire and ex-Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the former governor, was unable to get past his previous scandals, according to The New York Times.

Exact moment Beckham family feud started in unearthed snaps – and it was YEARS ago

There are claims that Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham are at odds with the rest of the Beckham family, and there are also indications that the conflict dates back to 2022.

One expert claims that there were signs of tension at Victoria Beckham’s fashion show in 2022.

An expert claims that there were obvious signs of tension at a significant 2022 family event despite the mystery surrounding the heartbreaking Beckhams feud.

In recent months, rumours of a family fall out have surrounded Brooklyn Beckham, 26, and his parents and siblings. The row has now reportedly worsened after Brooklyn decided that LA will be his home for the foreseeable future after buying the lavish new property with his wife Nicola Peltz, 30.

The dispute seems to be ongoing as Brooklyn seemingly snubbed his dad David’s huge achievement of earning a knighthood on the King’s Birthday Honours List last weekend on his social media pages, as well as failing to publicly celebrate him on Father’s Day. He also skipped David’s 50th birthday celebrations.

While tensions appear to have only recently come to a head, body language expert Judi James told the Mirror that the first signs of cracks amongst the family date back to September 2022 – just months after Brooklyn and Nicola tied the knot.

Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham donned a casual outfit for the performance.

“The Beckham family has always been glued together with “Mum-Gum,” a combination of fierce love and even fiercer loyalty that Victoria excels in with her displays of gritty-looking determination, adoration, and willpower, says Judi.

Any new pack member would need to integrate or, as Nicola appears to have done, to take their own chosen Beckham out of the pack by demonstrating equal levels of love and strength.

The defining, turning point in terms of body language displays took place at Victoria’s runway show during Paris Fashion Week 2022, despite rumors, speculations, and hints of a rift from Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding day or earlier.

Judi explains that Brooklyn and Nicola were born and raised separately from the rest of the Beckham clan, and that their individuality was demonstrated by how they wore their outfits.

According to Judi, “This was the time of any anticipated reconciliation or even denial of any rift.” The family and pack brand loyalty are a given during Victoria’s runway shows, which are emotional gush-fests.

While David, Cruz, Romeo, and Harper all made their formal appearances in a regal flotilla, crown prince Brooklyn was seen arriving separately from Nicola in mirrored poses while the core Beckham clan oozed elegant sophistication in their formal attire.

The group photo shows the main clan standing before the camera with eager eyes and attention to the show, while Nicola, who is seated with her backs slightly turned, sitting down to show off her prize with a hand on Brooklyn’s thigh and their heads pressed together, is seen in the group photo.

Beckhams
Judi claims that Nicola’s body language is profound.

Victoria “came on her own when she came on at the end of the show.” She gave David and Eva Longoria kisses before moving on to blowing kisses to avoid awkwardness.

According to a source close to the Peltz-Beckhams, actress Nicola is being “attacked” by “false claims” being made against her.

After Nicola purchased a number of properties with money gifted to her by her billionaire dad, Nelson, and mother, Claudia, she was called “spoiled” by her parents.

A source told the Mirror that Nicole is “not disputing that she’s had a blessed life, and she’s grateful for it.” She has also worked for over 20 years, and she currently writes, directs, and produces her own projects. Her parents are proud to raise their children, but it seems as though doing so would not appeal to them.

It’s false to call her “spoiled.” She runs Yogi’s House, a rescue that saves dogs from euthanasia in shelters, and she requested donations for her wedding to support Ukraine instead of presents. These fabricated and biased attacks have gotten too far.
