Plans to invest $ 210 million to help young Nigerians find employment have been finalized by the Nigerian government.
Through the second phase of the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) 2.0, which aims to connect high-potential graduates with real-world work experience, training, and mentorship, the initiative will be spearheaded in collaboration with the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Vice President Kashim Shettima stated on Wednesday that the goal is to bridge the gap between learning and earning for thousands of young Nigerians, graduates who have the education but sometimes lack the opportunity.

He claims that this will give Nigerians the ability to become productive economic power, demonstrating that young people can rise to the occasion when the government offers them structure, partnership, and purpose.

The VP noted that while the NJFP is a Nigerian initiative that is based on national priorities and based on the sense of purpose, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is determined to strengthen the program’s integration into the government’s national planning and budgeting frameworks.
This government will play its part by making sure that the program’s financial commitment reflects our faith in its transformative potential. However, he claimed that national ownership must also imply that everyone is a part of the national conversation.
In order to address Nigeria’s unemployment problem, Vice President Shettima also advocated for cooperation between the government and the private sector.
I invite our partners from the private sector, the development community, and the donor ecosystem to join us in creating the NJFP Basket Fund, a sustainable financing mechanism to ensure the program’s future as we launch NJFP 2.0 today.
The VP continued, “Our immediate goal is to raise $ 22 million, not as a charity, but as an investment in our young people’s most precious asset.”
He further urged the EU, UNDP, and other partners to take into account the program’s launch as an opportunity to demonstrate that “young people’s employment is a shared responsibility rather than just a policy priority.”
He argued that the country should take the lead from the front, and that inclusivity is essential to driving the process, and that this should be done through Nigeria’s public institutions, private sector champions, and philanthropic community.
The task is both challenging and inspiring. Our young Nigerians are only asking for a fair system that values effort, recognizes merit, and offers opportunity for them to serve.

Following the country’s ban on Israeli athletes, international sports federations will be told to ban events in Indonesia.
Due to the country’s military offensive in Gaza, Indonesia announced that it would not grant visas to the Israeli gymnastics team for the upcoming World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta.
The Israeli Gymnastics Federation (IGF) criticized the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) failed to come to a decision that would have caused a “dangerous precedent.”
The IOC executive board met this week and has now decided to “end any form of dialogue” with Indonesia’s National Olympic Committee regarding holding upcoming Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games, or other olympic events or conferences.
Additionally, the IOC “recommends to all international federations not to host any international sports events or meetings in Indonesia.”
The IGF claims that Indonesia, the most populous Muslim country in the world, has been given assurances that its delegation would be welcomed at the championships despite the fact that it has no formal diplomatic relations with Israel.
Artem Dolgopyat, the current world floor champion, is one of the athletes who is unable to compete.
The 28-year-old won silver medal at the Paris 2012 Olympics last year and silver at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics last year. Additionally, he has won two European titles.
The IGF requested urgent provisional measures to guarantee Israeli participation in the event or to move or halt it, but the request was rejected.
The IOC said it had also requested the FIG and the Olympic Committee to attend the IOC’s Lausanne headquarters to discuss the incident that occurred following its meeting this week.

Ekin-Su Culculoglu has revealed she wishes Alan Carr was on her series of The Traitors as she says he is ‘so entertaining’. Celebrity Traitors has been an undeniable hit since it started, with Alan going undetected, but Ekin-Su warns his ‘mask’ could ‘slip’.
Ekin-Su has had many TV stints since she first stepped foot into the spotlight when she won Love Island in 2022 alongside her ex-boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti. However, one of her most memorable appearances was featuring as a faithful on The Traitors US.
When The Mirror caught up with Ekin-Su at the Pride Of Britain awards, she revealed that she had been watching the latest series and ‘loves’ Alan Carr. She said of the Chatty Man: “I love Alan, I think he is great, he is so entertaining. I wish he was in my season when I was on it”.

Ekin has cautioned that things can turn around quickly while the rest of us enjoy watching Alan cause chaos on our screens. She said, “It’s difficult because you can start really well and then slip a little bit and your mask starts to fall off.”
After being poisoned by another contestant Parvati Shallow with a poisoned chalice, the reality star was cut out of the fourth episode of her own season.
After being chosen as a traitor in the first episode along with Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns, Alan has grown to be a favorite on the show.
Many initially assumed that he would be a terrible traitor. He has slipped away from attention, and his name is barely mentioned.
His antics have won over fans, and some even claimed that despite his lack of subtlety, he was still playing a good game. On X, a fan wrote, “We joked about Alan Carr being a s*** traitor, but PLOT TWIST I genuinely think he’s doing the best job of all three so far.
One viewer described Alan’s time on the program as the “best thing” of 2025. Can we all agree that casting Alan Carr as a Traitor this year is the best thing to have ever done?
BBC bosses are reportedly lining up a substantial deal with Alan, as his popularity with audiences continues to soar while the show airs, with other production companies also expressing interest.
Nearly a decade ago, Alan’s Channel 4 series, Chatty Man, was a hit with viewers. The star is now thought to be in early talks with the BBC for a new talk show. Several production companies are also thought to be interested in a show alongside his fellow traitor, Jonathan Ross.

A power surge was responsible for the heinous inferno that destroyed a section of the Alaba International Market, according to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
No casualties or injuries were reported, though, according to the report.
The organization reported a fire outbreak at 155 Olojo Drive, opposite Tantalizers and Alaba International Market, in the state’s Ojo Local Government Area at 7:18 p.m.
The Ojo and Ijegun-Egba fire stations were immediately dispatched to the scene, according to the statement.
The incident involved several lock-up shops of various sizes, all located in a two-story building that occupied roughly 648 square meters and a five-hectare-long larger market space.
A statement dated October 22, 2025, signed by Maria Fadairo, the agency’s senior public affairs officer, partially read, reads, “Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire started on the building shortly after the electricity was restored, due to negligence on the part of some shop owners.
The affected areas were difficult to access because the majority of shops were closed for the day, requiring forced entry to repress the fire, which had been confined to the floor due to the delay.
The state’s fire and rescue service added that a law office was primarily present in the stores that were primarily engaged in the sale of furniture and alternative power equipment.
According to the report, staff from the Federal Fire Service, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), and the Ojo Police Division worked together to bring the firefighting operations to a successful conclusion at 10:10.
Margaret Abimbola Adeseye, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service’s Controller General, praised the cooperative action of all parties involved, according to the statement.
Adeseye also stressed the importance of the public strictly adhering to fire safety measures, particularly in commercial areas, to avoid unnecessary fire incidents.
On Tuesday night, videos obtained by Channels Television showed several plazas in Ojo town completely engulfed in flames close to the Ojo Local Government Secretariat.
Officials from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were also seen working to contain the fire in video.
Along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, a market is known for its sale of household goods, including furniture, building materials, and electronics.
One of West Africa’s largest commercial trade centers is also there.
One month prior to the incident at the six-story commercial complex Afriland Towers in Lagos Island, at least ten people were killed in the Alaba market fire.
