Taylor Fritz will be taking on the world number two, Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon semi-finals. It will be the first time that Fritz, who is ranked fifth in the world, has made it to the semis in the UK’s grand slam, and as he takes on this major challenge, his influencer girlfriend Morgan Riddle, 27, will be right by his side.

The US tennis star got together with Morgan back in 2020 – a year after his divorce from childhood sweetheart Raquel Pedraza, who he had been with since he was a teenager.

Morgan regularly posts on social media about life following her partner on the ATP tour, and the former model has amassed a sizeable fan base of her own: boasting 600,000 followers on TikTok and amassing a whopping 22.3 million likes on her content.

Whilst all eyes will be on centre court to see if Taylor, 28, can defeat the reigning Wimbledon champ, who knocked out Cameron Norrie – the Brits’ great hope in the tournament – there is almost as much interest in the player’s life off-court, the Mirror takes a look back at the tennis star’s love life.

Ex-wife Raquel Pedraza

Taylor fell in love with his tennis player childhood sweetheart Raquel Pedraza when he was in his teens. The two players bonded over their mutual passion for the sport, and he has credited his ex with playing a huge role in supporting his career.

The tennis player proposed to Raquel – reportedly in front of the Eiffel Tower – and they tied the knot when he was just 18 years old, and she was 17 back in 2016.

A year later, in January 2017, they welcomed their son Jordan, who is now eight years old, and shortly afterwards, in 2017, Taylor opened up in a post-tournament press conference about how his wife had “stepped up” with their new baby to enable him to focus on his career.

In 2014, Raquel had got as high as 86 in the WTA rankings, no mean feat for a youngster, but due to injuries she dropped to 148 a year later – and after having Jordan she decided to retire from the tour altogether.

“My life hasn’t really changed too much because of how my wife has stepped up,” Taylor explained, “She’s really just doing everything she can for me and my tennis.”

In 2019, the pair parted ways, when Jordan was just two years old, and Raquel stays out of the spotlight for the most part, focussing on her son.

In the tennis documentary Break Point for Netflix, Taylor opened up about not getting to spend as much time with his son as he would prefer due to the gruelling demands of life as a professional tennis player.

“I have a son that I don’t get to see near as much as I’d like,” he explained, “As it stands right now, I just have to try and see him as much as I possibly can.”

He has also recently explained that there are factors “preventing” him from bringing his son on tour with him – and has previously admitted because he doesn’t get to be with Jordan all the time, he does occasionally “spoil” the little boy.

In a seriously sweet moment discussing the semi-final, Taylor admitted he wanted to win the Grand Slam to “really impress” Jordan who, he revealed, isn’t often that impressed.

“I don’t know,” if reaching the semis, “would be enough to impress him, I hope so,” Taylor joked, adding, “Every time I tell him that I won a title or played really well it’s like …. he doesn’t react too much….hopefully one day I can do something that truly impresses him”.

Girlfriend Morgan Riddle

Taylor and Morgan got together five years ago in 2020, after matching on the dating app of choice for celebs, Raya. Influencer and former model Morgan has admitted she knew next to nothing about tennis before they fell in love – a far cry from his fellow-professional player ex – but since she has found a niche for herself on social media creating content about life following the ATP as a tennis WAG.

She reportedly gave up her full time corporate job to travel with her partner the year after they got together, and the content she makes about being a tennis girlfriend has gained her a wealth of fans – and she hopes helped introduce the sport to a younger American audience, who may not have been as engaged with it before.

Morgan revealed to People magazine that Taylor is totally in agreement that tennis needs to work a little bit harder to reach the next generation of fans, explaining: “I think that he appreciates that we both have this collective goal of bringing it to a younger crowd. He does his part of it, and I do mine. I remember when him and I first met within the first week or two, one of the things that he told me is I just want tennis to be cooler in our generation. It’s just not.”

When Morgan faced a little bit of backlash for a TikTok she posted about making “tennis cool again” Taylor jumped straight in to defend her, saying in 2022: “I don’t understand how anyone can get upset about it. I’m the one that’s a professional tennis player, I’m the one that does this for a living. I 100 percent agree with everything in that video”.

Taylor has credited the rise in his ranking since their relationship began to Morgan noting previously there is an “obvious correlation”.

He said in one interview, “There’s been a pretty constant, I guess, results and ranking rise since we’ve been together. I think I would have to say she’s been a big help to me just kind of keeping me focused, having someone who cares and just pushes you to just do better and do the right things, be healthier.

“Almost like kind of just mother me in a way with, like, the diet and going to sleep on time. But just having someone to push you in the right direction all the time, supporting you, it helps a lot.”

However, he quickly tried to backtrack after referring to her as motherly, saying it was the best “choice” of term.

Morgan is never afraid to speak her mind – whether that’s discussing women’s rights, tennis fashion, or the relative coolness level of racquet sports – and last year it landed her in a bit of hot water.

After her boyfriend defeated Alexander Zverev who has faced allegations of abuse from former partners – something he denies – Morgan posted a thinly veiled dig at the German tennis star.

Bencic Beats Andreeva To Reach First Wimbledon Semi-Final

Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic said her dream had come true after she reached a first Wimbledon semi-final with a 7-6 (7/3), 7-6 (7/2) win against Russian seventh seed Mirra Andreeva on Wednesday.

The former Olympic champion is enjoying her best run at the All England Club just over a year after giving birth.

The 28-year-old had her daughter Bella in April 2024, but has already risen to 35th in the world since returning from maternity leave.

Wimbledon appears to be child’s play for Bencic this year, and she dispatched Andreeva in just over two hours of enthralling quarter-final action on Centre Court.

Bencic, a former world number four, will face five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek for a place in Saturday’s final.

“It’s crazy, it’s unbelievable. It’s a dream come true. I tried not to think about it at the match point. I’m just speechless,” Bencic said.

“I studied all evening yesterday to come up with a plan. I think it worked out well. With two tie-breaks it is not easy, it’s just a small edge.”

Bencic’s only other Grand Slam last-four appearance ended in defeat at the US Open in 2019, two years before she won singles gold at the Tokyo Olympics.

She is the first Swiss woman semi-finalist at Wimbledon since Martina Hingis 27 years ago, having failed to make it past the last 16 in her previous eight visits to southwest London.

“I’m very proud. I didn’t say it to myself much before but since having Bella I say it to myself every day. It’s not only me, I wouldn’t be able to do it without my amazing family and team,” Bencic said.

“We worked so hard on the comeback. We are enjoying life on tour and to play great is a bonus.

“I’m generally just really happy to be able to play again, because my body allows it.”

The rising star of the WTA Tour, 18-year-old Andreeva was the youngest women’s Wimbledon quarter-finalist since Nicole Vaidisova in 2007.

Under the wing of former Wimbledon winner Conchita Martinez, the Russian had breezed through the first four rounds without dropping a set.

Andreeva said she was so focused on each point during her fourth-round tie against Emma Navarro that she did not realise when she won on match point.

But Bencic proved equally locked in and the Swiss veteran defied a painful cracked toe-nail in the second set to seal her memorable triumph.

“They always crack. It is the life of a tennis player. I didn’t want to take a medical time-out so you don’t have to see this,” she said.

Brit gangster pictured rubbing shoulders with Noel Gallagher at Oasis gig

Robert Kelbie, who in 2012 admitted to a £145,000 mortgage fraud, attended the Oasis reunion gig in Cardiff last week and shared photos of himself wearing a VIP pass backstage

A notorious gangster was pictured rubbing shoulders with Noel Gallagher in the backstage of the Oasis gig in Cardiff last week.

Robert Kelbie, 41, took to Instagram to share photos of himself wearing a VIP pass while posing with the Oasis star, as well as guitarist Gem Archer and former Doctor Who star Matt Smith. He also posted a video of himself to the soundtrack of the Oasis hit Stay Young alongside the caption: “#oasis #oasismania what a great night. They’re definitely a must see.”

The fraudster, who is now a boxing promoter, previously met Noel at pal Tyson Fury’s world title fight at Wembley Stadium in 2022. He also hung out backstage with Noel in January 2023, when he was pictured chatting to him. He had captioned that post “Main man” alongside an electric guitar emoji.

Then last year, Kelbie was pictured with Noel and boxer Josh Taylor at a swanky event. An underworld source previously told the Daily Record: “Seeing Kelbie hanging out with Noel Gallagher you would think he was a rock star himself. They know each other from watching boxing before.

“Robert is well connected in that world so he’s often to be found hanging out with celebs. Who says crime doesn’t pay?” Kelbie, who in 2012 admitted to a £145,000 mortgage fraud, is a known enemy of caged cocaine kingpin Mark Richardson, 38.

Richardson is currently behind bars, while his associates – including the notorious Daniel Clan – are in a bloody turf war with Dubai-based Ross “Miami” McGill and a group known as Tamo Junto. Back in 2010, Kelbie was shot in the back outside a Bannatyne’s Health Club in Edinburgh.

Then in 2013, a volley of bullets were fired at the his home, which was fortified with spiked railings and CCTV cameras. He was again targeted by a shooter in Ratho Station in September 2016.

His new red-carpet lifestyle comes as Scotland’s gangland war involving Richardson explodes. The ongoing feud was sparked after Richardson’s men bought £500,000 of cocaine from McGill with fake cash.

Coalition: I Can’t Work With People Whose Lifestyle Is Being Corrupt — Sowore

The 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has again voiced his criticism against the emergence of the opposition coalition, warning that many of its members lack the moral integrity to lead the country.

Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, on Wednesday, Sowore described the coalition as populated by individuals whose track records made it impossible for him to align with them politically.

Peter Obi, Rauf Aregbesola, David Mark, Ralph Nwosu and Atiku Abubakar at the coalition meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.

“For me, the issue of a coalition is personal. To some extent, it’s a general issue about governance and politics. But there are just too many people in the coalition you’re mentioning that I can’t sit across the table from without being tempted to act out of my character,” he said.

Sowore accused many figures in the coalition of having betrayed Nigerians, describing them as people “who have done what is regarded as evil” and who lacked conscience, character, and pedigree.

“There’s no amount of conditions you can give to them that will wash their ways or change how they behave. These are typically people whose way of life is being evil, doing bad, being corrupt, short-changing the public, and being selfish,” he added.

He stressed that his position was not based on mere opinions but on documented evidence of the conduct and lifestyle of those involved.

“I have documented their lifestyle, documented their ways of doing things, and documented their capacity.

“I have come to the conclusion, based on empirical evidence, that any country leaving the current ruling party and handing its future to members of the coalition you’re mentioning is only moving from destruction to perdition. There’s no other way to describe it,” Sowore declared.

He argued that while there were individuals in Nigeria’s political landscape who genuinely wanted to save the country, others in both the ruling party and the opposition were simply preparing to exploit Nigerians further.

“These people have all sat in power at one point or the other; you know their story. We have documented it.

“The only conditions I have are those that will help me help the Nigerian people those of us who want the country to be saved both from those ruling now and those planning to pounce on Nigerians,” he stated.

The opposition coalition adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political party, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ex-Real Madrid Coach Ancelotti Gets Year’s Jail For Tax Fraud

A Spanish court on Wednesday sentenced former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti to a year in jail for tax fraud committed in 2014, a punishment that will not oblige the Brazil coach to serve prison time.

Prosecutors alleged the Italian created a system of shell companies to hide extra earnings during his first spell as Real Madrid manager in 2014 and 2015, notably through image rights.

They said the 66-year-old, one of the most successful managers in football history, failed to pay more than one million euros due to undeclared earnings in those years, seeking four years and nine months in jail against him.

Ancelotti denied having intentionally committed fraud at his highly publicised trial in April, saying he never realised a scheme allowing him to collect some of his salary in image rights would see him pay less tax.

A Madrid court announced in a ruling it had convicted Ancelotti for “an offence against the treasury… to the punishment of one year in prison” and a fine of 386, 361 euros ($452, 821).

But the former Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain boss, who no longer lives in Spain, will not serve jail time because the sentence is less than two years and he has no criminal record.

The court cleared Ancelotti of the fraud allegation for the 2015 tax year.

Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti has been sentenced to a year in prison by a Spanish court for tax evasion – but he will not have to serve time in jail.

The former Chelsea and Everton boss was accused of failing to pay 1m euros (£830,000) in tax on his salary during his first spell in charge of Real Madrid from 2013 to 2015.

He will avoid prison but does have to pay a fine of 386,361.93 euros (£333,045.92).

Ancelotti, 66, ended a second spell with Real at the end of last season and took the Brazil job.

Under Spanish law, any sentence under two years for a non-violent crime rarely requires a defendant without previous convictions to serve jail time.

Earlier this year, Ancelotti said he “never thought about committing fraud” as he testified in court.

Ancelotti said he was offered a net salary of 6m euros (£5.1m) by Real and that he left the structure of it to his financial advisers.

“I thought it was quite normal because at that time all the players and the previous coach had [done the same],” he said.
