Elliott Wright’s touching reason for selling iconic Spanish restaurant and moving to UK

Elliott Wright of The Only Way Is Essex has confirmed that he is selling his Spanish restaurant so he can concentrate on his family.

Former TOWIE star Elliott Wright has confirmed he is selling his beloved Spanish restaurant, Olivia’s La Cala.

The reality TV star, 45, took to Instagram with a heartfelt video explaining that he and wife Sadie Stuart Wright have made the “tough decision” to sell the famous venue after nearly a decade in business.

In his caption, Elliott wrote, “I set out to build something that everyone told me shouldn’t be built in La Cala de Mijas, a big gamble.”

It’s been “emotional, brilliant, fun, challenging, testing, stressful, but primarily amazing!” I’ve enjoyed every second of it, but Olivia’s is definitely up for sale. Life has chapters, and these ten years have been wonderful.

He continued, “Sadie and I have discussed it for a while, and the moment feels right.” Next season’s owners should be Olivia and I hope so. Our final festive season is set for this year. Thank you to everyone who has laughed and enjoyed there over the past ten years.

Elliott explained in the accompanying video that the choice is dependent on his children’s future and his family’s priorities. Sadie and two of his older children have three beautiful children, and he said, “I always assumed that my dreams would align with mine.”

“But that’s not the case,” he continued. Elliott, my son, has worked in the City for three years, and Olivia, who recently passed her GCSEs, wants to follow her example.

Elliott is the father of five children, Elliott Jr., 19, and Olivia, 15, both of whom were in a previous marriage. In addition to Billy, five, John, two, and Dolly, who was born in August, he has also.

After spending more than 20 years in Spain, he continued, “The move back to the UK feels like the right step for his family.” Sadie and I have been discussing it for the past two years, and we have come to the decision to be all together. We have a bold new chapter in. Olivia’s is beautiful every second, but now it’s time to turn the page.

Since opening in 2015, the restaurant, which is named after his daughter, has attracted celebrities and vacationers alike.

Over the years, Olivia’s has hosted a string of star-studded parties featuring Elliott’s TOWIE co-stars including Mark and Jess Wright, Ferne McCann, and James Argent, who has performed there on numerous occasions.

Elliott, who first rose to fame on The Only Way Is Essex between 2010 and 2017, described Olivia’s as his “passion” and “a love story”.

In an exclusive chat with The Mirror, he said, “It’s given me some of the best memories I’ll ever take with me. But all things come to an end, and now it’s time to hand the baton to the next custodian.”

The Olivia’s La Cala brand and trademark are included in the sale, which also includes the freehold beachfront property. Bromley Estates Marbella will be the auctioneer for the 9, 000 square foot venue, with a starting bid of €5 million. By December 5th, all bids must be submitted.

Sarah Ferguson campaign was PULLED from TV as company scrambled to avoid crisis

Amid a major moment of grief for the Royal Family, an advertising campaign Sarah Ferguson had filmed was rapidly pulled from the airwaves by a panicking company

Finding herself in the midst of a major scandal has become something of familiar territory for Sarah Ferguson over the years.

Fergie, who married Prince Andrew in 1986, was initially seen as a welcome addition to the House of Windsor. Down to earth and cheerful, she was dubbed by some as a breath of fresh air amid the normal formality of the Royal Family.

But over the years, her relationship with the public has been turbulent. As her marriage broke down, she was eventually caught by photographers in a steamy embrace with an American businessman in the early 1990s, which began her official separation from Andrew.

Though the former couple have remained close over the years – still living together at Royal Lodge despite their divorce – the recent controversy surrounding the former couple has seen them give up the use of their royal titles, with their relationships with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein under a microscope once again.

Since her divorce from Andrew, Sarah has undertaken a myriad of money-making ventures, from writing books, to collaborating with Weightwatchers – after facing years of harsh scrutiny over her weight.

But in 1997, when the Royal Family went through a major tragedy, one of her campaigns for the weightloss company was rapidly pulled from the airwaves – amid concerns it would be bad taste.

Princess Diana, with whom Sarah also had an up and down relationship over the years – died in August 1997 in a tragic car crash in Paris, which plunged the nation into collective grief, and the royals into crisis.

The driver of Diana’s car was under the influence of alcohol and the vehicle crashed while trying to get away from paparazzi. The accident crash proved fatal, with only the Princess’s bodyguard surviving.

Just as the tragedy unfolded, Sarah’s new advertising campaign with Weight Watchers was going live. In the campaign, an unfortunate tagline was used that suddenly felt cruelly ironic after Diana’s death. In the pre-recorded campaign, Sarah declared that losing weight was “harder than outrunning the paparazzi.”

In the week before Diana’s car accident, brochures featuring the line had been posted out to the company’s customers, and some adverts had been published in magazines that included the suddenly bad taste tagline.

Springing into action, the company knew it would be impossible to remove the brochures and magazines adverts, but they did have the power to pull one major branch of the campaign – the TV adverts.

“It has a touch of irony that nobody could have predicted,” said Howard Rubenstein, the publicist who was in charge of the campaign at the time. “The duchess certainly is sensitive to the situation, and it’s just unfortunate that the mailing went out when it did.”

As well as pulling the TV adverts, Sarah also cancelled various appearances that had been booked around that time to promote the campaign. Rubenstein explained at the time: “I spoke to the duchess, and she is grieving greatly and out of respect will not be doing anything for the moment.”

“We were able to catch 95% of what was being done,” the publicist added.

“Out of respect for the Princess of Wales and the Royal Family we’ve done our best to pull our new commercial set for Labor Day,” Weight Watchers International President Kent Kreh said amid the turbulence.

Diana had been the one who is said to have initially set up Sarah and Andrew in the 1980s, and the pair were fast friends for a long time, first becoming close pals when they were teenagers. But towards the end of Diana’s life, they were not actually talking, something that Fergie has said causes her much regret.

Fergie had written about Diana and her sons in the bombshell memoir she released in the mid-1990s, and while the Princess had been supportive of her former sister-in-law telling her own story, she reportedly thought that Fergie detailing aspects of her life and that of William and Harry was crossing the line.

The pair stopped speaking, and Fergie addressed their falling out in a 2007 interview with Harpers Bazaar.

“The saddest thing, at the end, we hadn’t spoken for a year, though I never knew the reason, except that once Diana got something in her head…I tried, I wrote letters, thinking whatever happened didn’t matter, let’s sort it out. And I knew she’d come back.

Why is Jonathan Ross not throwing his epic Halloween party this year?

Although Jonathan Ross is known for hosting a big celebrity-filled Halloween bash every year, he has decided to postpone the festivities.

Jonathan Ross has revealed the reason why his legendary Halloween party has been cancelled this year.

The chat show host shared the news following his appearance on The Celebrity Traitors, where he became the first Traitor to be caught out.

While speaking to Ed Gamble on a bonus episode of The Traitors: Uncloaked podcast, Jonathan explained that his famous bash at his Hampstead home won’t be happening this Halloween.

Joe Marler mentioned which famous people he became particularly close to while filming The Celebrity Traitors, saying, “I met him a few times, had him on my show a few times, and he was invited to my parties on Halloween, when I was still doing them.

After mentioning several other contestants who Jonathan also gained insight from on the reality show, Ed said, “The main takeaway I took from that, Jonathan, is that you’re not doing your Halloween parties anymore,” he said.

No, he retorted, “I’m afraid not.” They cost a fortune, but I might do them before I leave. He continued to acknowledge that managing the event was challenging due to the event’s growing popularity.

Every time I said, “Are you hosting a Halloween party?,” people would be like that because our event became so well-known. he explained. I only really knew 30% of the adults I invited. I liked all of the others, but I wasn’t familiar with them.

Jonathan’s Halloween parties have been a fixture on the celebrity calendar for years. He hosted the annual event at his north London residence, which was well-known for its extravagant costumes and A-list guests.

Stars like Dame Joan Collins, Claudia Schiffer, Nicole Scherzinger, Alan Carr, and David Walliams were among the regulars who flocked to the spooky soirée.

The event was just as popular as ever at what turned out to be his final house party in 2019. Judge Rinder channeled Anne Boleyn, and David Walliams appeared as Dr. Evil, complete with a fluffy white cat, in Scarlett Moffatt’s Absolutely Fabulous outfit.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought the parties to a halt in 2020, and they remained on pause for another year as Jonathan’s daughter Betty battled fibromyalgia.

He revived the festivities in a different way in 2022. The TV star moved the party to Camden’s KOKO nightclub as opposed to hosting at his Hampstead residence.

However, Jonathan returned the Halloween spirit to the United States last year, but not as much as he had before. He shifted his focus away from the big-name trick-or-treaters and to the neighborhood’s.

His home was transformed into a spooky wonderland with red lighting, spooky performers, and enormous props, including a terrifying clown show.

Now, in 2025, it seems Jonathan is ready to close the lid on his Halloween hosting days. The Mirror has contacted Jonathan’s publicity team for comment.

After the Breeders’ Cup in Del Mar, California on Saturday, Frankie Dettori announced that he would stop riding in the United States.

Dettori, 54, made a U-turn and instead decided to retire in the US, where he has spent the past two years.

Dettori stated on social media that he would completely retire after a few South American races.

He wrote on X, “From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this incredible journey.”

“Over the past 40 years, it has been an honor to compete at the highest level of this sport.” I’m eternally appreciative of my family, the property owners, trainers, stable staff, and of course the supporters who supported my career.

Dettori has won 15 Breeders’ Cup victories, the most recently of which came with Inspiral in 2023.

At Champions Day in Ascot in 2023, he bid adieu to British racing, winning with King of Steel and Trawlerman.

Dettori, who won an MBE in 2001, rode his first British rider in a year, and his first in Italy in 1986, to become the apprentice champion in 1989.

In 1994, 1995, and 2004, he won the British Classic, winning all seven of the races on the card in one day at Ascot.

Palace face four games in eight days

Due to their fixture accumulating following their elimination from the Carabao Cup quarter-final, Crystal Palace are scheduled to play four games in eight days.

Palace will now face Arsenal in the week that begins December 15 with a 3-0 victory over Liverpool on Wednesday to advance to the last eight.

On December 14, Palace hosts Manchester City in the Premier League, plays at home against KuPS in the Conference League, and travels to Leeds for the Premier League on December 21.

The EFL Cup tie will most likely occur on December 16.

Due to the scheduled 13 December Premier League game against Wolves, Arsenal will have an additional day’s rest.

Every midweek until Christmas, Oliver Glasner’s Palace has commitments in the Premier League and Conference League, as well as no empty slots in January.

The first leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals will take place on January 13 and there are midweek rounds of Premier League games until January 6.

The Champions League’s final two rounds are followed by the week’s two-day matches for the EFL Cup, which will begin on February 2. The second leg of the second leg is followed by the final two rounds.

Palace drawing Arsenal, who will play in the Champions League on those January midweek evenings, makes the fixture congestion more difficult.

To make the EFL Cup tie take place over the weekend, there is little chance that the Premier League will move two matches.

Within 24 hours of each other, Liverpool fielded a different team for the EFL Cup and Club World Cup in 2019.

A senior team defeated Monterrey 2-1 to reach the Club World Cup final after a young team lost 5-0 to Aston Villa.

Within 48 hours, Spurs were scheduled to face Leyton Orient in the EFL Cup and Shkendija in the Europa League qualifier.
