Alison Hammond’s son, Aidan, has given a rare insight into his childhood, revealing he would take refuge in his grandmother’s house after disputes with his famous mum.

Aspiring DJ Aidan, who turned 20 this year, was born in 2005 to Alison and her then-fiancé Noureddine Boufaied. However, despite their split in 2014, the pair have continued to co-parent the youngster.

Chatting on the Spin Justice podcast, Aidan reminisced about visiting his grandmother’s house across the road when he and his mum weren’t seeing eye to eye: “When we were in the flat, she had a house pretty much opposite us, so we could literally leave and run across the road. So when my mum was doing my head in, I’d just go to my nan’s (house). “

Aidan fondly recalled the close-knit bond with his nan during his formative years: “It was really nice, because like I said, we were very, very close. “

Elon Musk revives third party idea after ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ passes

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has weighed in publicly for the first time since the passage of President Donald Trump’s signature piece of budget legislation, commonly known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill“.

On Friday, Musk took to his social media platform X to once again float the possibility of a third party to rival the two major ones — the Democrats and the Republicans — in United States politics.

“Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system! Should we create the America Party? ” Musk asked his followers, attaching an interactive poll.

Musk has maintained that both major parties have fallen out of step with what he describes as the “80 percent in the middle” – a number he estimates represents the moderates and independents who do not align with either end of the political spectrum.

His desire to form a new party, however, emerged after a public fallout with Trump over the “One Big Beautiful Bill”, a sweeping piece of legislation that passed both chambers of Congress on Thursday.

Yet again on Friday, Musk revisited his objections to the bill, albeit indirectly. He shared Senator Rand Paul’s critique that the bill “explodes the deficit in the near-term”, responding with a re-post and the “100” emoji, signifying his full agreement.

The “One Big Beautiful Bill” has long been a policy priority for Trump, even before he returned to office for a second term on January 20.

His aim was to pass a single piece of legislation that included several key pillars from his agenda, allowing him to proceed with his goals without having to seek multiple approvals from Congress.

But the “One Big Beautiful Bill” has been controversial among Democrats and even some Republicans. The bill would make permanent the 2017 tax cuts from Trump’s first term, which critics argue disproportionately benefit the wealthy over middle- to low-income workers.

It also raises the debt ceiling by $5 trillion and is projected to add $3. 3 trillion to the country’s deficit, according to a nonpartisan analysis from the Congressional Budget Office.

Further funding is earmarked to bolster Trump’s campaign to crack down on immigration into the US. But to pay for the tax cuts and the spending, the bill includes cuts to critical social services, including Medicaid, a government health insurance programme for low-income households, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps.

Fiscal conservatives opposed the debt increase, while several other Republicans worried about how Medicaid restrictions would affect their constituents.

But in recent weeks, Trump and other Republican leaders rallied many of the holdouts, allowing the bill to pass both chambers of Congress by narrow margins.

Senator Paul of Kentucky was one of only three Republicans in the Senate to vote “no” on the bill. In the aftermath of its final passage on Thursday, he wrote on social media: “This is Washington’s MO: short-term politicking over long-term sustainability. ”

Trump is slated to sign the bill into law in a White House ceremony on Friday.

The debate over the bill, however, proved to be a tipping point for Trump and Musk’s relationship. In late May, during his final days as a “special government adviser”, Musk appeared on the TV programme CBS Sunday Morning and said he was “disappointed” in the legislation, citing the proposed increase to the budget deficit.

“I think a bill can be big or it can be beautiful,” Musk told a CBS journalist.

By May 30, his time in the Trump administration had come to an end, though the two men appeared to part on cordial terms.

But after leaving his government role, Musk escalated his attacks on the “One Big Beautiful Bill”, warning it would be disastrous for the US economy.

“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” Musk wrote on June 3.

Musk went so far as to suggest Trump should be impeached and that he had information about the president’s relationship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, though he did not offer evidence. Those posts have since been deleted.

Trump, meanwhile, accused Musk on social media of going “CRAZY” and seeking to lash out because the bill would peel back government incentives for the production of electric vehicles (EVs).

On June 5, Musk began to muse about launching his own political party. “Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle? ” he wrote.

In follow-up posts, he noted that his followers appeared to agree with him, and he endorsed a commenter’s suggestion for the party’s potential name.

“‘America Party’ has a nice ring to it. The party that actually represents America! ” Musk said.

As the world’s richest man and the owner of companies like the carmaker Tesla and the rocket manufacturer SpaceX, Musk has billions of dollars at his disposal: The Bloomberg Billionaires Index estimates his net worth at $361bn as of Friday.

But experts warn that third parties have historically struggled to compete in the US’s largely two-party system, and that they can even weaken movements they profess to back, by draining votes away from more viable candidates.

Musk’s estimate about the “80 percent in the middle” might also be an overstatement. Polls vary as to how many people identify as independent or centrists.

But in January, the research firm Gallup found that an average of 43 percent of American adults identified as independent, matching a record set in 2014. Gallup’s statistics also found a decline in the number of American adults saying they were “moderate”, with 34 percent embracing the label in 2024.

Still, on Friday, Musk shared his thoughts about how a potential third party could gain sway in the largely bifurcated US political sphere. He said he planned to take advantage of the weak majorities the major parties are able to obtain in Congress.

“One way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts,” he wrote.

Salah ‘Frightened’ To Return To Liverpool After Jota’s Death

As the Premier League champions delayed some players’ return to pre-season training, Mohamed Salah claimed that the death of Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota had caused him to feel “frightened” to make a comeback.

The Portugal forward and his younger brother, Andre Silva, passed away early on Thursday when their car veered off a Spanish motorway and caught fire.

Before the brothers’ funeral on Saturday, mourners gathered in Portugal for a wake on Friday.

Arne Slot, manager of Liverpool, claimed Jota owed it to the club to “stand together and be there for one another.”

On Friday, Salah, an Egyptian international, paid tribute to Jota, 28, in a tribute.

He continued, “I never thought there would be anything that would frighten me to go back to Liverpool after the break,” adding, “Up until yesterday.”

“Teammates come and go, but not like this,” the saying goes. Diogo won’t be there when we return, which will be very difficult to accept.

His wife, his children, and of course his parents, who have all lost their children, are in his thoughts. Everyone who is close to Diogo and his brother, Andre, needs to be supported. They won’t ever be forgotten.

Jots, it was a pleasure to work with you on a pitch, but it was also a friendship. The Ajax and England midfielder wrote on Instagram, “All the laughs we had off the pitch.”

He continued, “Pictures of me traveling while I’m asleep on the bus, and sending them to me later. You were a pleasure to be around and always wanted to laugh.

Similar scenes have occurred at Wolves’ Molineux Stadium, where Jota played before moving to Anfield, and where fans have left flowers, scarves, and shirts outside of Anfield.

Liverpool have raised their flags to half-mast and opened a condolence book.

The first Liverpool squad members to arrive at the club’s training facility on Friday for the club’s opening physical test series following their post-season break were scheduled to take place on Friday.

However, it’s rumored that Monday has been delayed before they can return.

On July 13, Preston was scheduled to host Liverpool’s first pre-season game.

However, the organization stated on its website that “ticket sales for this game have been suspended following Diogo Jota’s tragic passing and his brother, Andre Silva.”

Wimbledon Pays Tribute To Jota After Liverpool Star’s Death

When Portugal’s Francisco Cabral wore a black ribbon during his doubles match on Friday, Wimbledon paid tribute to Diogo Jota following his passing.

After the All England Club relaxed its strict all-white dress code to allow tributes to the Portugal forward, Cabral was allowed to wear the ribbon during the second-round game.

In northern Spain, Jota, 28, and his brother Andre Silva perished in a car crash just before the start of pre-season training.

Jota and Rute Cardoso, who had three children, were married shortly after the accident.

When Cabral learned the news, he claimed to be driving to Wimbledon and praised Jota as “an idol, such an icon, such a good person.”

“I am aware of what he has gone through, what he has won in his life and career. After losing to Czech duo Petr Nouza and Patrik Rikl with Austrian partner Lucas Miedler, he said, “He’s just very inspiring for me.”

“I just wish his family the best.” I’m hopeful that they can survive because I’m aware of the positive people they are around.

Neal Skupski, a passionate Liverpool fan, had also brought a black armband to his game on Thursday, but he chose not to do so.

Jota death ‘extremely difficult to accept’ – Salah

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has said it is “going to be extremely difficult to accept” the death of fellow Reds player Diogo Jota.

Jota, aged 28, died in a car crash along with his brother Andre Silva, who was 25.

“I am truly lost for words,” said Salah, who joined Liverpool in the summer of 2017.

“Until yesterday, I never thought there would be something that would frighten me of going back to Liverpool after the break. Team-mates come and go but not like this.

“It’s going to be extremely difficult to accept that Diogo won’t be there when we go back.

“My thoughts are with his wife, his children, and of course his parents who suddenly lost their children. Those close to Diogo and his brother Andre need all the support they can get. They will never be forgotten. “

The Guardia Civil told BBC Sport both men died at about 00:30 local time on Thursday.

Jota was on his way back to Liverpool for pre-season and, as doctors had advised him against flying because he had undergone minor surgery, he was making the trip by car and ferry.

Doctor Miguel Goncalves, who worked with Jota on his recovery, described him as an “unparalleled professional”.

He told Portuguese sports newspaper Record: “I started working with him last Saturday and I was with him every day until this Wednesday. I said goodbye to him at dinner time.

“He made an extraordinary recovery – he was undoubtedly an unparalleled professional. He strictly followed what I told him, as you could see in the way he was recovering.

“He was excited, confident in his recovery and enthusiastic about the next season. “

Liverpool delay pre-season return

Several Liverpool players were scheduled to return on Friday from their summer break for an initial round of physical tests at the club’s training ground.

That was postponed and there will now be a phased return for players on Monday.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot’s side are set to play their first pre-season match against Preston North End on Sunday, 13 July.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher also paid tribute to “one of my closest friends in football”.

“We bonded over all things, sports, watching any football match we could find – often your brother Andre’s game on your iPad,” said Kelleher.

“I was surprised a lad from Portugal loved sports such as darts, snooker and horse racing so much and some of my best memories were having a laugh watching them with you.

A vigil for Jota and Silva will be held at the Chapel of Resurrection in their hometown of Gondomar on Friday.

There will be a funeral service at 10:00 on Saturday at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar.

Portugal and Nottingham Forest midfielder Jota Silva laid a wreath outside the chapel, where a private wake for the brothers’ relatives took place on Friday afternoon.

Locals and fans have been paying tribute to Jota outside the football academy in Gondomar where he played from the age of nine to 17.

The academy is named after him and a picture shows Jota wearing both the colours of the Portugal national side and the yellow of his hometown club as a child.

People have also been paying their respects at Liverpool and former club Wolves, who he left in 2020 to join the Reds.

Everton players Beto and Youssef Chermiti, who are both Portuguese, and former Toffees midfielder Ian Snodin laid wreaths in Jota and Silva’s memory outside Anfield.
