A French nurse and an Italian photographer devote their lives to the Palestinian cause but make the ultimate sacrifice.
This is a story about two Europeans who devoted their lives to the Palestinian cause and paid the ultimate price.
Francoise Kesteman was a French nurse who worked in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon in the late 1970s and early 80s. She was a communist and saw the displacement of millions of Palestinians as a fundamental injustice that needed to be addressed. She joined armed Palestinian groups resisting the Israeli occupation.
Franco Fontana was an Italian photographer who cofounded a Marxist-Leninist political group in the 1970s and organised exhibitions to raise awareness of the Palestinian cause. As a photojournalist, he visited Palestine and Lebanon, where he also joined groups fighting to liberate Palestine.
Former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote revealed her struggle in finding acting work after leaving the long-running soap

Former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote opened up about her struggle finding acting work after leaving the long-running soap. The 34-year-old soap actress, who is rumoured to have split from her husband Kris Evans after being spotted without her ring, had to start a crowdfunding page to raise £12,000 after her beauty business burned down.
Georgia’s character, Katy Armstrong, joined the series in 2010 and departed in 2015. Katy was killed in an off-screen car accident in Portugal in 2017. Georgia went on to appear on many talk shows and reality shows, including Celebrity Juice, Strictly Come Dancing, Saturday Kitchen, and more.

She also appeared as Gracie Bradshaw for one episode of Doctors and was a series regular in the American fantasy-adventure series The Outpost between 2020 and 2021.
In a new chat with the Sausage on a Fork podcast, she admitted her work dried up after returning from Serbia from filming The Outpost. She said: “I came back in the December of 2020 and I just realised, ‘Oh my God, there’s no work.’
“Everything that got stopped filming in the UK then got put on a back burner, and then there was a backlog of what was about to start filming. Then everything behind that took four years to come out, then we had the writers’ strikes.”

She continued: “It’s just been a nightmare. And that’s why this has been the quietest I’ve ever been in my life. I think a lot of actors around the world will say the exact time.”
Georgia’s struggles continued when her beauty business, a nail salon, caught on fire and she had to start a crowdfunding page to get the company, as well as other businesses affected by the fire, up and running again.
“Within two hours the whole building was alight, and the whole thing burnt down,” the actress said. “We weren’t allowed back in there and nothing has been salvaged.
“Four years’ worth of products and stock and everything. We can’t get back to work without that stuff. It’s thousands of pounds of stuff. You can’t just go and buy it.
“I did start a fundraiser to raise some money for these ladies to help us get back on our feet and build our stock back up again that we’ve lost.
“It’s passed the £12,000 mark. I’m really happy. It makes me really emotional to speak about it. I just know it’s a lot of women’s only income. I’m lucky that I still do my voiceovers and I do have jobs coming in.

“But, at the same time, I lost a lot of money in that fire. But people have lost entire homes worth of stuff that can’t be replaced.”

Liverpool and Portugal star Diogo Jota was likely speeding when his car veered off a motorway in Spain last week killing him and his brother, Spanish police said on Tuesday.
The shock deaths of Jota, 28, and Andre Silva, 25, on July 3 plunged the football world into mourning, less than two weeks after the striker had got married.
An ongoing investigation is examining “the marks left by one of the vehicle’s wheels… everything points to a possible excessive speed beyond the road’s speed limit”, the Civil Guard said.
“All the tests conducted so far indicate that the driver of the vehicle was Diogo Jota”, it added.

The force had previously said a tyre had probably blown out while the vehicle was overtaking, causing it to crash and burst into flames in the northwestern province of Zamora.
Just hours before the accident, Jota had posted a video of his June 22 wedding to partner Rute Cardoso, with whom he had three children.
The deaths sparked an outpouring of grief, particularly in the brothers ‘ native Portugal and at Jota’s Premier League club Liverpool.
Political leaders as well as star players from Portugal and Liverpool joined family and friends at the funeral on Saturday in the Porto suburb of Gondomar.

Jordan North couldn’t hide his emotion today when he was reunited with the adorable dog he bravely rescued last year. In December, the Capital FM host was having a quiet stroll along the river in West London when he noticed a chocolate-coloured Labrador floundering in the water.
Jumping into action – and the River Thames, Jordan carried the fabulously named Creed Lamar to safety, much to the relief of the dog’s owner, Rodas. Today, the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star was reunited with the pooch and his owner as he admitted he was “going to cry” when they surprised him in the studio.

Six months after the rescue, Rodas and Creed, were given the chance properly thank Jordan for his “big, selfless act” moment live on Capital Breakfast.
Sian Welby and Chris Stark surprised their colleague with a game of ‘Pet or Partner’ where listeners send in clues and the presenters have to guess whether they’re describing a pet or a partner.
On Tuesday morning one of the clues was: “He likes to jump into the River Thames and be saved by Jordan North.”
Desperately trying to clarify what was said as the line went dead, Jordan was stumped, but then in came Creed and Rodas as the presenter sid: “That’s Creed, I’m going to cry.”
Recalling the eventful night last year in which she almost lost Creed, Rodas said: “Me and my mum actually take Creed out to the park and tire him out, and off the lead we walk through the riverside and we were walking at night and the barrier tends to go lower and we didn’t realise that and I think he saw a duck or something and he just jumped in!
“I was about to jump in myself, but people were telling me about the currents and the waters and obviously my mum was not going to let me do that, so I’m really thankful to Jordan for jumping the gate.”

Jordan explained the Creed, who was still a puppy when Jordan rescued him was “really struggling” in the icy water. He said: “When I climbed in, the current was taking him, you could tell he was struggling, he was really struggling wasn’t he and I tried to grab him and he fell back in, I was like ‘oh no!'”
The radio DJ stepped onto a pontoon on the water, but once he had rescued the dog he got stuck on a beam, which prompted a member of the public to raise the alarm.
Luckily for Jordan, the RNLI crew were out on a training exercise near Hammersmith Bridge, so they arrived at the scene within three minutes. The crew found Jordan sat on a float life with the dog, as people gathered on the riverbank to shine their phone torches at the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star so the RNLI team could locate him in the dark.
Rodas had no idea that it was Jordan who rescued her dog and went straight back to university in Nottingham after the rescue.
Explaining that it was only when the story was published in the Press, she put two and two together, she said: “I didn’t ]realise] at all, it was exam season at the time, and I was just focused in the library 24/7.

“My mum’s not on social media she was the one taking care of him. One day my brother was on his bus to school and his friend has his phone out talking about a story of a dog getting saved from the Thames and he was like “that’s Creed!'”
