Fans of Freakier Friday have expressed their joy at discovering a “secret detail” in the sequel, but some viewers claim it’s just a coincidence. The movie follows on from the Lindsay Lohan and Jaime Lee Curtis films from 2003, which are currently showing in theaters.

The mother-daughter duo in the original swapped bodies to gain insight into one another’s daily struggles. The 2025 sequel follows a similar format as expected, but it only has a four-way body switch just before Lindsay Lohan’s wedding.

User @hellfire took to Twitter to share the “secret detail” of the post. J mentioned how while watching the movie, she noticed something significant about Anna’s wedding date.

She continued, “It was October 3rd, and I’m just like, ‘No way they didn’t mean that, right?”’ Mean Girls must be responsible for that. That was intentional by them. October 3rd was the date they could have chosen, out of all the others. ‘”.

Fans of the 2004 film starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert have traditionally observed October 3rd as “Mean Girls Day.”

Popular boy Aaron Samuels, who is portrayed by Jonathan Bennett, asks Lohan’s character what day it is in a famous classroom scene, and she replies, “October 3rd.”

Lohan claimed that everything was an accident when describing the “secret detail” in a Collider interview with Perri Nemioff.

She said in an interview posted on Instagram: “I genuinely don’t think anyone realised it. Until it was printed on the [wedding invitation] cards, the day off.

Because it was one of the first days of filming, I was like, “Does anyone realize October 3rd?” Mean Girls Day is that.

“Nobody did anything about it. I was like, ‘Let’s leave it, it’s an Easter egg’. And Nisha (director Nisha Ganatra) was like, ‘We’re not doing Easter eggs’, and I’m like, ‘Well, you did’.”
