The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has returned the petition of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) against Fuji singer Wasiu Ayinde, also known as Kwam 1, to the Police Command at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Force spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Tuesday, confirmed the receipt of the petition against the singer who tried to block a moving ValueJet aircraft on August 5, 2025, at the Abuja airport.
The singer’s action attracted widespread condemnation, with many calling for his arrest and prosecution.
The NCAA had immediately written to the IGP and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi, calling for a “comprehensive criminal investigation and the initiation of appropriate prosecution” against the singer known to be an ally of President Bola Tinubu and who has performed in rallies of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The civil aviation regulator had also slammed an indefinite ban on the singer, warning that any local or international airline that flies the singer risks its license being withdrawn.

Though Kwam 1 released an apology video over the weekend, the remand of an unruly Ibom Air passenger, Comfort Emmanson, in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Lagos, has ignited selective justice flames, with many calling for the instant prosecution of Kwam 1.
Paris St-Germain manager Luis Enrique says the club have backed his decision to drop goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma for the Uefa Super Cup.
The Italian was left out of the squad that travelled to Udine for Wednesday’s match against Tottenham, with Lucas Chevalier and Renato Marin selected instead.
In a social media post, Donnarumma said he was “disappointed and disheartened” at his omission.
The 26-year-old was one of the stars of PSG’s triumphant run to last season’s Champions League title and the decision has come as a shock given his standing and profile.
Enrique said his decision was down to looking for a “different profile” of goalkeeper.
“I am supported by my club and we are trying to find the best solution,” he told a news conference on Tuesday.
“It is a difficult decision. I only have praise for Donnarumma. He is one of the very best goalkeepers out there and an even better man.
In a social media post later on Tuesday, Donnarumma said he was unsure he would play for the Ligue 1 club again.
“I hope to have the opportunity to look the fans at the Parc des Princes in the eyes one more time and say goodbye as it should be done,” he said.
“If that doesn’t happen, I want you to know that your support and affection mean the world to me and I will never forget it.”
PSG captain Marquinhos heaped praise on Donnarumma, adding: “It’s always difficult, I’ve been here 12 or 13 years and I’ve seen other players leave.
“Unfortunately that’s part and parcel of football. Only thing we can say is to give everything to the players until the last minute they are at the club.
“Players come and go but the history will always be here. Gigi is part of the history and we are proud of him.

Stuart Martin is back on our screens tonight in the gritty drama In Flight. The actor, 39, stars as menacing gang leader Cormac in the new Channel 4 drama, who coerces flight attendant Jo Conran (Katherine Kelly) into using her job to repeatedly struggle drugs, in order to save the life of her son, who is currently behind bars for a murder he claims he did not commit.

From 2017 until 2019, he appeared in all 24 episodes of Jamestown as Silas Sharrow, and then landed what is possibly his most famous role as Detective Inspector William Wellington on Miss Scarlett and the Duke. He played this part from 2020 until 2024, at which point the series continued on without him. On film, he has starred in both instalments of the space opera franchise Rebel Moon alongside the likes of Djimon Hounsou and Sofia Boutella.

But away from his life on screen, Stuart is married to actress Lisa McGrillis. They celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary together, and are parents to Josh, eight, as well as four-year-old Cleo. Lisa has also starred in a number of television favourites, having first risen to prominence with her role as Vicki Pearson on the sitcom Hebburn alongside Chris Ramsey. Following that, she achieved further acclaim for her role as Sergeant Rachel Coles on Inspector George Gently, and was seen on the BBC drama series from 2014 until 2017.
Since 2022, she has held the main role of Courtney on Avoidance, but last year she starred as Valerie Jones on the smash-hit Disney+ comedy drama that was based on the book by Jilly Cooper and also featured the likes of Emily Atack, Danny Dyer and David Tennant. Lisa met her husband at the National Theatre’s bar more than a decade ago, but admitted that she became a ‘nervous wreck’ when their first child came along. She told The Sunday Post: “I was so busy for the first seven or eight months of my son’s life and by the end I was a nervous wreck, so jittery and tired. The two things don’t align – family life and filming. I look in the mirror and I’ve gone from looking like a spring chicken five years ago to a shrivelled old shoe.”
The couple often wow followers with their social media presence as they attend glamorous showbiz events together. In 2023, when Stuart starred in Rebel Moon, Lisa took to Instagram to write: “What a feast for your eyes, very proud of my action hero husband,” and emblazoned her gushing post with several heart emojis. More recently, the couple attended the Mediterrane Film Festival together, and shared a loved-up picture from the red carpet.

During the COVID-19 lockdowns, Stuart admitted that a lot of work ‘suddenly went off the table’ as the pandemic took hold but even though he thought it was a ‘worrying and upsetting time for everyone’ in his industry, but found comfort in being able to spend time with his family. He told the Scotsman at the time: “Usually you’re going ‘right, up in the morning, got to do this!, and you’re distracted. Now, you’re really spending that time with each other. And the community stuff that’s coming out of it is lovely. There could definitely be a re-set for us all after this.”
At the same time, he admitted: “I’d have to say my wife and lad. But if I can have another? Actually no, I’m not sure I could live locked in a house for two months with anyone else. Or they could live with me. I’ll stick with my lockdowns. I wouldn’t inflict that on anyone, alive or dead.”

Harry Potter actress Miriam Margolyes has been vocal in calling out Israel’s actions in Gaza as she stands by her statements amid calls for her OBE to be taken from her

Miriam Margolyes has revealed she doesn’t fear getting cancelled after calling out Israel’s actions in Gaza. She says she has a responsibility to speak out and call for change and doesn’t worry about any consequences.
The actress, 84, called for fellow Jews around the world to “shout, beg, scream for a ceasefire” in Gaza last year. Miriam said she was “so ashamed of Israel” for defending its actions.
The Harry Potter star teamed up with the Jewish Council of Australia where she issued her video message. It comes after Bob Geldof issued a desperate plea on Sky News to save babies in Gaza.

Miriam has faced calls for her OBE to be removed(Image: PA)
There have been calls for Miriam to be stripped of her OBE after comparing the Israeli government’s actions to the Nazis during the Holocaust. In an interview with the Big Issue, she said: “I cannot bear to think that my people are doing exactly the same thing to another nation.”
Miriam has stood by her statements and has no worries about it. She told The Guardian newspaper: “People say: ‘You’re just an actor, for f***’s sake, shut up.’ Well, that is a point of view. I don’t happen to share that.
“I think that if you have a chance to make an impact for good, to change things, then you should. I think it’s an absolute requirement, and people don’t, out of fear sometimes. They are afraid of being cancelled. You can’t cancel me!”
Miriam also had the same sentiments in her interview with the BBC as she said: “They talk about cancel, being cancelled, but nobody’s going to cancel me, I’m not having it.
“I don’t think people should use that expression. Everybody should be able to express their opinion. What Israel is doing to Palestine is wicked and it’s totally against our upbringing as Jews.”
In her video last year, Miriam said: “To me, it seems as if Hitler has won. He’s changed us Jews from being compassionate and caring and do unto others as you would have them do unto you into this vicious, genocidal nationalist nation, pursuing and killing women and children.”
She condemned the actions of Hamas and allies on October 7. Miriam said what is happening in Gaza is “shocking, embarrassing and wicked and I cannot understand why all Jewish people, particularly members of synagogues, do not want immediately to stop what is going on.”
The actress was awarded an OBE in 2002 for Services to drama, but she has now faced calls for her to be stripped of the honour. The Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) responded to her statements and called it “repugnant”.

A statement from the CAA said: “The fact she was born Jewish does not give her license to use her immense platform to spread anti-Jewish venom.
“This has to be the end of the road. She must be shunned by the showbiz world that has fawned and bowed until now.” CAA added that it would write to the Honours Forfeiture Committee as well as BAFTA to ask them to remove Miriam of her titles.

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, says that many public officers are now perfecting the antics of anticipatory declaration of assets to justify their intended stealing of public funds and other acts of corruption.
A statement by the Head, Media & Publicity of thr EFCC, Dele Oyewale, disclosed that the Chairman stated this in Abuja on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 while delivering a goodwill message at the launch of the Virtual Tool on the Code of Conduct for Public Officers organized by the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB in collaboration with the Technical Unit on Good Governance and Anti-corruption Reforms (TUGAR).
Explaining how anticipatory asset declaration is done, he disclosed that, “There is an investigation we carried out and we discovered something not too strange that proves how criminally smart some of our politically exposed persons carry out some of the various activities we investigate them for. I asked my boys to get the CCB form because there is something we were not clear about and we discovered one of the very big properties valued at over N3billion that the person declared in the CCB form carried an address different from the address of the location of the property. I felt something was awry here, we decided to dig further and after more interrogation, we discovered that the person declared the property when the property was not in existence.”

He urged the leadership of CCB to take note of such criminality and intensify investigation through innovative ways to curtail corruption.
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi pointed out that the bedrock of public service is adherence to standards and ethics of service.
He applauded the virtual tool designed by the CCB as a significant milestone in the digitization and technological investigation of public conduct, stating that it will promote preventive compliance and awareness.
He enjoined public servants to embrace the new tool for enhanced conduct in public service.
The Head of Service, Didi Esther Walson- Jack, stressed that, “We must leverage on technology to solve problems. It is faster, smarter and more transparent.
“Without conduct and ethics no reform will last. Ethical governance is not optional. The benefit of this tool is that it is accessible, easy to use, cost effective and promotes transparency that enables tracking and compliance.”
In his Opening Speech, Chairman of Code of Conduct Bureau, Abdullahi Usman Bello, explained that the tool will make public officers to be accountable and easy to use.
