With a comeback victory over reigning champions York Valkyrie, women’s Super League leaders St. Helens almost secured home advantage in the play-offs.

With just two games left, Saints were eight points ahead of third-placed York before Saints came out on top in the final 26 minutes to claim an 18-8 victory.

After defeating Barrow Raiders 92-0, Wigan is still one point behind St. Helens in the League Leaders’ Shield race.

After a 20-20 win in a see-saw game, Leigh and Huddersfield each received the win.

After Wolves squandered Sunday’s game, the Giants’ hopes of making it to the play-offs were already over thanks to fourth-placed Leeds’ 48-0 victory over Warrington.

Warrington claimed that they couldn’t field a full team due to injuries and player availability issues.

York’s champions York must defeat Saints in a back-and-forth battle.

With victory at the Totally Wicked Stadium, York would have finished with St. Helens.

When Savannah Andrade scored early in the second-half and Rhiannon Marshall’s penalty on the stroke of half-time gave them an 8-0 lead, they appeared to be on course to do so.

Before two final ten minutes of scoring, two Phoebe Hook tries gave Saints control, Emily Rudge restored the team’s grip.

After York’s Sinead Peach was shown a red card for dissention, Faye Gaskin scored the winning goal with a last-minute penalty.

Wigan continued to put pressure on Saints when they ran in 17 tries at Barrow without a hit.

Isabel Rowe scored 12 goals for the Warriors, and Ruby Hunter, Mia-Jayne Atherton, Eva Hunter, and Jenna Foubister all crossed twice.

The scoresheet included Molly Jones, Lucie Sams, Georgia Wilson, Charlotte Meredith, and Cerys Jones.

Leigh led 10-0 at Golbourne Parkside before Fran Copley, Maddie Clegg, and Amelia Brown took the lead again with tries from Lucy Johnson and Mollie Young.

Palestinian Authority urges US to reinstate Abbas’s visa before UNGA

Just weeks before the Palestinian leader was scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s office has urged the US to reverse its decision to revoke his visa.

Prior to the UN headquarters’ high-level meetings in the coming months, the Palestinian presidency expressed “astonishment” at Washington’s decision on Friday to revoke the visas for Abbas and 80 other Palestinian officials.

Abbas currently leads the Palestinian delegation and has frequently addressed the General Assembly.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, Abbas’s spokesman, told The Associated Press on Saturday, pleading that the decision “will only increase tension and escalation.”

“We’ve been in touch with Arab and foreign nations since yesterday, particularly those who are directly concerned with this issue. According to Abu Rudeineh, this work will continue nonstop.

The spokesperson also urged other nations to press US President Donald Trump’s administration to reverse its decision, particularly those that have organized a high-level conference to discuss reviving the two-state solution.

France and Saudi Arabia are hosting the conference, which is scheduled for September 22.

ideologically driven

The Trump administration’s visa restrictions come as the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip’s devastating war against Palestinians are under increasing scrutiny.

A growing number of nations have announced plans to recognize an independent Palestinian state at the UN in September as a result of the deadly attacks.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) were accused of “refusing their commitments” and “undermining the prospects for peace,” according to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who defended the revocations on Friday.

Rubio also accused the Palestinian Authority of engaging in “lawfare campaigns,” including those that involve holding Israelis accountable for violations of the occupied West Bank and Gaza.

However, Matt Duss, executive vice president of the US-based Center for International Policy, claimed that the Trump administration’s decision to revoke the visas “clearly violates diplomatic protocol.”

The US is intended to provide UN member-state representatives and officials with visas to travel to New York City’s headquarters as a host nation.

Duss told Al Jazeera, “What’s happening here is obviously ideologically driven.”

According to him, “some people in the Trump administration are closely aligned with the right-wing Israeli government, and their goal is to simply drop the Palestinian liberation movement from the international agenda.”

They “do not recognize the Palestinian people’s right to a state,” according to the statement from New York. “They are both trying to prevent that on the ground in Palestine.”

criticism from Europe

The European Union’s foreign policy representative added that the group is urging Washington to reconsider its visa denials.

Following a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Copenhagen on Saturday, Kaja Kallas stated, “We all urge that this decision be reconsidered in light of the existing agreements between the UN and its host country.”

Jean-Noel Barrot, the French envoy to France, added that access restrictions for the General Assembly are unavoidable.

According to Barrot, “the United Nations headquarters is a sanctuary for peace, where conflicts are settled,” and that is true.

Meanwhile, Pedro Sanchez, the prime minister of Spain, said he spoke with Abbas on Saturday to “exprim his strong support” for the “unjust” visa suspensions.

Vanessa, who was previously paired with Miles Nassir from Made in Chelsea, claimed that her father had always encouraged her to pursue her goals, so she regularly took acting coaching.

She continued, “I am aware that being an actor requires a lot of effort, and I don’t anticipate getting a Hollywood deal right away because I’m on a TV show.” I want to make sure I’m the best actress I can be so that I can get a spot in the casting call.

The pro skater first joined Dancing On Ice back in 2017 and was crowned winner with her celebrity partner and former X Factor contestant, Jake Quickenden.

Vanessa continued, “I bring something so special to the acting world that can hopefully bring all of my previous experiences together with my film background, my ice skating background, my competitive skating background, my mother who is Indonesian,” adding “I bring something so unique to the acting industry.”

Grand Prix of the Netherlands

Date: 31 August 2018 Start time for the race: 14:00 BST on Sunday

Oscar Piastri pipped McLaren team-mate Lando Norris to pole position at the Grand Prix of the Netherlands.

As their title battle is still incredibly close, Piastri turned the tables on Norris, who had been the quicker McLaren driver all weekend, by 0.012 seconds.

With only 10 races left, the Australian holds the championship lead over Norris by nine points.

In Zandvoort’s final qualifying round, both times were set on their first laps. On their final runs, Norris and Piastri were actually quicker by 0.004 seconds, but neither driver had improved since their first attempt.

Max Verstappen of Red Bull placed third, 0.263 seconds slower than Piastri, while Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar placed fourth in his impressive rookie season.

Piastri once said, “That’s the definition of peaking at the right moment. Just a few corners have happened where I wasn’t able to move more quickly. I didn’t do that, but I did spend some time in other places.

Ferrari’s “progress” is welcomed by Hadjar stars and Hamilton.

Hadjar’s qualifying performance put him in the lead, finishing second behind team-mate Liam Lawson in eighth place and ahead of both Mercedes and Ferrari.

Due to his persistent engine problem, he had missed much of Friday practice. It made things even more eye-opening.

The Frenchman, who is now 20 years old, said: “I feel great. Amazing QA . Sincerely, I had a terrible experience yesterday. Really unanticipated.

We both knew it would be very difficult to reach Q3, and we both did, and I had a really good feeling this morning. On that final lap, I put it all on the line, and it turned out to be a great lap, so I’m happy. He really pushed me.

Hamilton was much happier after finishing 12th overall in Hungary in the opening race of the season.

The seven-time champion asserted, “This weekend, we have definitely seen progress, and that was the goal.” overall, better approach. Everything has just been more enjoyable.

Carlos Sainz’s Williams and Fernando Alonso, who are currently competing for fifth and sixth place in the constructors’ championship, finished third behind Lawson.

Alonso’s promise in practice on Friday, when he split the McLarens, faded, as it was always going to. If he had managed to run the fastest lap he did in the previous session, he would have finished seventh, despite Hamilton.

Alonso had run used tyres on his first run in Q3, just like everyone else except for Verstappen and the McLarens, and the track slowed as the session progressed.

He asserted that while running the final Q3, 10th is not the best starting position, but it is what we deserved. Since the ninth is only 0.15 seconds away from us, it is not even close. We hope it pays off because we have a different tire selection than some other teams.
