Eurovision 2025’s UK act Remember Monday address backlash in unique way

The UK’s Eurovision Song Contest 2025 act Remember Monday have addressed backlash over their involvement.

It was announced yesterday that the trio – comprised of pals Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steel – will represent the UK at the song contest, which is being held in Switzerland this year. They will perform their song What The Hell Just Happened? in the grand final in Basel on May 17.

Following the news, a video has been released of the group – who were rumoured for Eurovision before the official announcement – addressing comments about their potential involvement. It shows Remember Monday harmonising as they sing comments written about them on social media. A caption over the video teased: “Turning our hate comments into songs”.

It begins with the trio singing: “Please tell me it’s not true you’re doing Eurovision for UK”. They next put their spin on a comment that read: “Yep we’re getting 0 points again..”. The video concludes with them singing: “Are you going to Eurovision or not? I want to get the disappointment out of the way”.

The video was shared by the BBC’s Eurovision account on Instagram this afternoon. The caption of the post read: “From trash talk to treasure. The #Eurovision rumour mill recently hit full peak for @RememberMonday_, but for this year’s UK Eurovision it’s just an opportunity to harmonise and turn some of their favourite comments into choooons”!

Remember Monday – who previously competed on the Voice UK – confirmed that they are representing the UK at Eurovision when they appeared on the Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 yesterday. The trio, who have been friends since meeting at sixth form in 2013, have teased that they “can’t wait” for the experience.

In a statement over the news, the trio said: “What The Hell Just Happened is exactly how we’re feeling right now! It’s all very surreal, our friendship goes so far back, and we definitely never imagined that we’d be doing anything like this. When you’re a kid and people ask you what you want to be when you grow up, an absolute classic is ‘ I wanna be a pop star’, so the fact that we’re getting the chance to live that dream as three best friends is just wild.

” We’re going to be the first girlband to represent the UK since 1999, which feels like such a crazy honour. We’re going to bring loads of fun, energy and hopefully do something that you won’t have seen before on the Eurovision stage. We honestly can’t wait to experience this with all of the other incredible artists from around the world, and hopefully make everyone back at home feel proud! This is really the music World Cup and we’ll do our best to bring it home! “

Fifty minutes gone at Murrayfield and it was freewheelin ‘ time. Five Scottish tries in the bag, a 27-point lead on the board and Finn Russell directing his players around the pitch with the authority of the world’s greatest traffic cop.

Easy. Scotland were all width and class, pace and execution. They were a joy. Blair Kinghorn, Huw Jones, Darcy Graham, Tom Jordan – even big Duhan van der Merwe was coming off his wing and getting involved in the show.

An exhibition of what is best about this team. Devastating.

They made bits of Wales, who were vulnerable to the wide game and who were caught out when Scotland ran up their guts.

Their composure was so shot that they gave their hosts a free seven-points when Ben Thomas lost the plot in the lead-up to Scotland’s fourth try. They had a man in the bin and all hope in a skip.

Same last year in Cardiff when the visitors led by 27 points early in the second half and were hanging on at the end. And same on Saturday. It wasn’t quite the smelling salts and stretchers of 2024, but it was close.

Nobody can be sure, but with Wales scoring 21 unanswered points from the 62nd minute (plus a try for Taulupe Faletau that was disallowed) many people would have bet the house on Wales winning had it gone on much longer.

In boxing parlance, Scotland were stuck on the ropes, almost defenceless, eyes rolling in the back of their head as Wales unloaded. The last bell saved them from possible mortification.

In the first half they’d built their lead which saw them home and fair play to them for that. They won, they got five points and now they’ll move on to Paris to try to stop what seems like the inevitable – a French title.

They’ll travel, of course, with all the good wishes of their friends across the water. Irish fans are suddenly Scotland fans.

‘ This was Scotland in microcosm ‘

Saturday was Scotland in microcosm, their excellence and their weakness. It was a day that showed again why you can’t see them progressing to the status of contenders even if you buried your face in a vat of happy juice.

Everything really started to go wrong when Russell was taken off as an injury precaution and the bench started to appear. Not enough of them make a positive impact. Several of them added to the errors and the chaos.

Scotland’s hair caught fire when Teddy Williams drove over with 11 minutes left. Too easy, that. The home team had stopped working as hard it had been.

Faletau’s try didn’t stand but it left an impact. In the preamble, Blair Morgan was missed by Stafford McDowall and Kyle Rowe, then after the illegal hurdling, he did George Horne. The score was correctly ruled out, but Wales were on a roll.

That last try showed Scotland in their panicked state. Joe Roberts eluded Kinghorn, then slipped out of trouble when Rowe, Jordan and Matt Fagerson came to him. It was like he was slathered in butter.

A penalty, a lineout, a try for Max Llewellyn. Murrayfield silent, apart from the faint sound of sobbing.

The cameras turned to Russell who shook his head and looked like saying something beginning with F before the director cut away.

Scotland went to sleep, he said later. They switched off. The message all week, he stated, was to play for 80 minutes, but they didn’t. Again.

This team has a well-developed and debilitating trend of falling asleep in games. They didn’t score in the last 33 minutes on Saturday.

A fortnight ago they went an hour without scoring against England, against Ireland they didn’t score for 41 minutes and then 26 minutes. Against Italy, they went 33 minutes without a point.

This is repeat behaviour from Scotland. Last season threw up similar numbers and so did the season before.

It didn’t cost them this time, but it remains a puzzler as to why this keeps happening. Are they always going to have the propensity for napping during games?

It’s why we can admire many of the things this team does, but it’s very hard to trust them. We can marvel at their creativity, but elan alone is not cutting it at the sharp end of the championship.

And so to Paris against the mighty French. Scotland at their very, very best are unpredictable enough, and mad enough, to make it a scary day for Fabien Galthie.

Scotland are not a conventional team. They have players that could hurt France. They have a mindset that could cut them open and give them much to think about.

They don’t have a hang-up about the French the way they do against the Irish. Psychology won’t be a problem.

France will surely win – and maybe very comfortably – because on top of the flair in the backline they have monsters up front. Many, many monsters.

They have eight starters and possibly another seven on the bench. To hell, Fabien, go 8-0 and be done with it. Bring out every brute, from Perpignan to Picardy.

France won a seismic victory in Dublin and will feel invincible now. Scotland won a shaky one in Edinburgh and Lord only knows how they’ll be feeling.

Kyle Walker’s two Milan party girls revealed to be huge models and fashion moguls

It has been revealed that the two women who footballer Kyle Walker was spotted partying with at an exclusive club in Milan are Serbian models who live in the Italian city.

Kyle was reportedly seen at one of Milan’s most exclusive hangouts, Tocqueville 13, partying into the early hours shortly after his wife Annie Kilner jetted back to the UK at the end of last month. The star defender, who has fathered two children with Lauryn Goodman during his marriage, was said to be in the company of two mystery brunettes until 4am. The group were seen inside the Living Room at the Casa Cipriani Milano hotel until the early hours of 26 February, and then they all headed to the Tocqueville 13 nightclub together.

At the club, they spent around 3, 000 Euro (approximately £2470) on a SuperVIP table and ordered a 1, 400 Euro magnum of Dom Perignon champagne. A source told the Mirror their connection was strictly “platonic”, and that Kyle left the venue hours before the two women did.

It is believed Kyle is working on his relationship with wife Annie. The couple, parents to four sons, might be on the path to reconciliation after Annie filed for divorce when it emerged Lauryn, 33, had welcomed a second child, a daughter, with Kyle. Annie had reportedly flown out to watch Kyle take to the field for AC Milan’s first team at San Siro Stadium last month before flying home with their brood—Roman, 12, Riaan, 8, Reign, 6, and nine-month-old Rezon.

However, a day later it was reported that Kyle was seen with two women who The Sun have identified as Serbian models Marijana Vidovic and Dragana Draca. Both women are believed to be friends of Kyle’s Italian football agent, Dario Ristori, and both live in Milan. Dragana is the founder of a fashion brand called Maison d’Vie, while Marijana runs a sustainable luxury sportswear brand called 9am. Marjiana also previously worked for Roberto Cavalli and starred in Serbia’s version of the reality TV show The Farm.

Marijana reportedly told a friend: “Kyle is a lovely, charming guy who was buzzing to talk about his new life in Milan”. A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Marijana and Dragana are lovely women with good taste. They are very successful women who enjoy the finer things in life. It’s no wonder they mix in the same circles as wealthy high-profile footballers”. The source also said the women and Kyle were part of a larger group and the footballer did not drink alcohol during the evening out.

An onlooker told the Daily Mail: “Kyle certainly looked like he was enjoying himself, he wasn’t ready for the night to finish after dinner, that’s for sure”. Following reports of Kyle’s night out, a source told OK! that his wife Annie had laid down rules for her husband. “Annie has decided she’s going to give it another go but he needs to realise he has to be incredibly careful because even the most innocent things can come back to bite him”.

When it was revealed Kyle had fathered a second child with Lauryn Goodman, he released a public apology to his wife and family. He said: “What I’ve done is horrible and I take full responsibility. I made idiot choices and idiot decisions. I can’t begin to think or imagine what Annie is going through. I’ve tried to ask her but there’s pain and hurt. My actions have caused a lot of pain to a lot of people. I’m sorry because, as a family, this isn’t meant to happen”.

The Mirror has approached Kyle Walker’s representative for comment.

Kelsey Parker forced to cut show short after Danny Jones’ wife Georgia pulls out of event

Kelsey Parker had to cancel the public Q&amp, A session during her appearance at The Baby Show in London on Saturday after her podcast co-host, Georgia Jones, withdrew from the event earlier in the week.

Georgia, who co-hosts Mum’s The Word with Kelsey, pulled out following the fallout from her husband Danny Jones ‘ late-night kiss with I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Maura Higgins at a BRITs afterparty last weekend.

Attending the event solo, Kelsey still took part in the scheduled talk, but according to sources, it wrapped up 15 minutes early, and she skipped the audience Q&amp, A. A source told MailOnline that Georgia’s absence had been planned after her husband’s actions made headlines. “Sitting down for a Q&amp, A in front of a live audience is the last thing Georgia needs right now”, the insider shared. “She’s absolutely mortified by how this has all played out and feels incredibly humiliated”.

Neither Georgia nor Danny—who have been married since 2014—have addressed the situation publicly since footage emerged of him sharing a drunken kiss with Maura, 34. Reports suggest Georgia has not recorded any new episodes of their podcast since The Sun released the clip.

The BRIT Awards video, allegedly taken just before 3 a. m., shows Danny and Maura standing close together, chatting intimately before he appears to quickly kiss her. They later left the venue as part of a larger group, including Danny’s McFly bandmate Tom Fletcher, before Maura headed home alone in a taxi.

An eyewitness at the event said: “Danny and Maura were having a great time. It looked like they had a brief drunken kiss. They’ve developed a close friendship since meeting in the jungle and were talking and laughing for ages”.

Although they sat at separate tables during the BRITs ceremony at the O2 Arena, exclusive MailOnline footage from the afterparty showed them seated together, with Maura at one point resting her head on Danny’s shoulder. A source added: “Danny seemed to be giving Maura advice, and at one stage, he put his arm around her”.

One week later, it has now been reported that Danny and Maura partied at a hotel until 6am drinking wine after their BRIT Awards party kiss. A new video has emerged of the pair sharing a bottle of wine together after the BRIT Awards. The video, obtained by The Sun, the pair are seen chatting together, while laughing and both holding two filled-up glasses of wine in Nobu Hotel in Central London.

The pair are said to have travelled by car separately across London to a Sony party at Nobu Hotel in Marylebone. A source told the publication: “Danny and Maura seemed to be enjoying their night of partying and had no plans to call it a night. They were knocking back wine at the Nobu from 4am and seemed keen to carry on. They weren’t seen leaving before 6am”.

It comes after the latest episode of Mum’s The Word with Kelsey and Georgia was released on Monday. However, the episode had been recorded before the scandal broke. In the episode, Georgia and Kelsey spoke about being present with their children, adjusting to a recent house move, and even touched on Georgia’s trip to Australia to visit Danny while he was in the I’m A Celebrity jungle.

At one point, Georgia became emotional when Kelsey showered her with compliments after a listener asked them to share what they admired most about each other. Clearly touched, Georgia responded: “Thanks, aww Kels. Don’t, because I’ll cry” before quickly adding: “Nah, I’m alright, I’m not in an emotional vulnerable state today, so we’re okay”. Kelsey then reassured listeners, saying: “]Georgia’s] tired, but she’s a different tired”.

The Mirror has approached Georgia and Kelsey’s representatives for comment on this story.

Littler through as four big names fall at Belgian Open

PA Media

Luke Littler began his defence of the Belgian Open title with a second-round win – but four Premier League players were dumped out on Saturday.

The world champion, who won last year’s Belgian title while making his European Tour debut in Wieze, was among the 16 seeds that joined the draw in the second round.

The 18-year-old averaged 94.36 to Ryan Searle’s 95.48 but was far more efficient on the doubles, finishing with a checkout percentage of 42.9% compared to Searle’s 25% to clinch a 6-3 victory.

But four of the top 10 seeds fell at their first hurdle, including world number one Luke Humphries and three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen.

The world number three suffered the biggest shock, with Van Gerwen humbled 6-4 by unranked Croatian qualifier Boris Krcmar, 45.

Humphries and Rob Cross both claimed a nine-dart finish during Thursday’s Premier League action, while Nathan Aspinall was beaten by Littler in the final.

Humphries averaged just 92.61 on Saturday, though, as the 2024 world champion was upset 6-4 by local favourite Mike de Decker (100.45).

Ross Smith (112.60) proved too strong for world number four Cross (98.80) as he beat last year’s runner-up 6-2, while Aspinall was dealt a narrow 6-5 loss to Ritchie Edhouse.

The tournament concludes on Sunday, with Littler having a third-round game against fellow Englishman Luke Woodhouse, who beat Gary Anderson 6-2.

Gerwyn Price averaged 112.42 in his 6-2 victory over Gian van Veen and will face Damon Heta, who thrashed former world champion Michael Smith 6-0.

Stats that say striker not Arsenal’s big issue – plus Man Utd’s mediocrity

It is one of football’s oldest cliches, but in the case of Manchester United and Arsenal this season, the league table really does not lie.

For Arsenal, one point from their past two games means they are extremely unlikely to reel in league leaders Liverpool and face the disappointing prospect of finishing second for a third straight season.

For United, it has been a historically miserable season, marooned in 14th place, still waiting to win back-to-back Premier League games and contemplating their worst points record in the competition.

Getty Images

Why the league table is a fair reflection

Beyond being second, they are down in almost every metric on this time in 2023-24, where they had 61 points after 27 games.

Their shot conversion rate is also worse than last season but, despite valid criticism about the lack of a striker, only Brentford and Liverpool have proved more efficient at putting the ball in the net.

However, it is only in goals conceded that Arsenal have matched their 2023-24 record – and they remain the best defence in the Premier League in that regard.

As for United, their goal difference demonstrates their position is correct:

Problems in attack are mirrored at the back even though there has been partial improvement this season.

Ruben Amorim’s side have actually faced far fewer shots than at this stage in 2023-24 – and a smaller number than high-flying Nottingham Forest, Newcastle and Aston Villa.

Arsenal ‘ dominant ‘ over Man Utd in 2024-25

Arsenal have won their past four Premier League games against United – the longest such streak in the history of this rivalry – but did lose on penalties to Amorim’s 10-man side in the FA Cup in January.

The underlying numbers still suggest a United victory in their third-round tie was unexpected.

Mikel Arteta’s side were dominant in almost all metrics, as they had been in the league encounter a month previously, only to find United’s second-choice keeper Altay Bayindir inspired as he denied the Gunners.

In fact, the only area where Amorim’s side laid a blow was in fouls, committing 50% more than their opponents.

“It’s a big club which has struggled a little bit but we know the quality they have when they’re really on it”, said Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard. “They have a lot of good individual players that we have to be ready for.
