‘One of the best upcoming midfielders’ – Man City complete Nypan deal

Fans have every reason to be excited about the potential new addition to Manchester City after Rosenborg signed 18-year-old midfielder Sverre Nypan on a five-year deal.

Teenager Nypan has represented his country in under-21s at all youth levels, and he is expected to sign for a season-long loan during the campaign in 2025-26.

He will practice with Pep Guardiola’s first team if a loan is not secured before the players return for pre-season on July 28.

Any young footballer who wants to join this club and join such a group of elite players is a dream, Nypan said.

“I have a lot to learn, but the chance to work with Pep Guardiola, the best manager in the world, will only help me improve,” said the player.

City’s future direction is evident in the purchase of Nypan, a highly regarded brand.

Norwegian journalist Andreas Korssund reported that Sverre Nypan, who is still very young, has been regarded as one of Norway’s top talents.

It’s not surprising that he’s secured such a significant move because he’s been touted as the next big thing to enter the Norwegian league. Perhaps the surprise is that he is emigrating to City so quickly.

comparisons to Odegaard at Arsenal

Nypan, who made his first-team debut at Rosenborg at age 15 in the Norwegian league, has seen a rapid rise in popularity among Norwegian fans.

Over the past two seasons, he has won the top-tier Eliteseries Young Player of the Year award in both 2023 and 2024. He has made a big impression in Norway.

He is quick, quick, a good dribbler, and capable of taking on and defeating defenders because he has primarily been used as a central midfielder but can also play an attacking midfield, winger, or in a center-forward role.

He has 14 goals and 11 assists in 70 appearances for Rosenborg.

There have been unavoidable comparisons between him and Arsenal and Norway midfielder Martin Odegaard, who also made his debut in the Norwegian top flight at the age of 15 with the same position and being from the same country.

Both have good passing skills and are technically competent, Korssund said. Nypan plays the game from midfield, while Odegaard might be more of a dribbler.

“There is a long way off for him.”

Nypan scored eight goals in 28 of his 30 league games last year, making him the club’s joint second-highest scorer overall. His first senior hat-trick came last August when Rosenborg defeated Lillestrom 4-0 at home.

Rosenborg, who had missed out on European football last year by placing eighth in 2023, did so with a fourth place finish and a place in Conference League qualifying.

Six weeks before his 16th birthday, Nypan made his debut in one of his two appearances that year, winning 4-2 at home against Jerv on November 6, 2022.

His breakthrough campaign came the following year.

He started in three games of Conference League qualifying and made 17 league starts in 2023, plus six substitute appearances.

He impressed during both legs of Hearts’ third qualifying round tie with Crusaders, winning 3-2 over Northern Irish side Crusaders.

In Rosenborg’s 2-1 first-leg victory, Nypan, who was then only 16, scored the winner, but the Norwegians lost 3-1 at Tynecastle as the Scottish side came back from 4-3 on aggregate on a last-minute winner from Cameron Devlin.

After that first game, Hearts head coach Frankie McAvoy said: “We knew he was a special player and he showed that.

You have a great chance of succeeding when you can create scoring chances like he does in the final third, which he also appears to have a good head on his shoulders.

Not long after his arrival, Nypan started to attract the attention of Europe’s premier clubs.

Nypan was reportedly spotted by Manchester United scouts in August 2023, but Rosenborg boss Alfred Johansson praised the youngster’s attitude, saying: “He focuses on enjoying football and training every day.

Not everyone would have been able to accomplish it, but it is very impressive and should be. That indicates Sverre’s strength.

Before Guardiola’s City’s bid was accepted, Arsenal first showed an interest in the teenager in January 2025, and then again this summer, with Aston Villa having another significant relationship with him.

Rosenborg’s record sale surpasses the £8.5 million they received when John Carew moved to Valencia in 2001.

Nypan joins Norwegian internationals Oscar Bobb, 21, and Erling Haaland, 24, who is the team’s star striker, at Etihad Stadium.

Although Korssund anticipated that Nypan would need to settle into City, he hoped he would rise to the top.

According to Korssund, “He’ll need time to adjust because this is a big step for him to enter the Premier League.” However, I have no doubt that City have selected one of the world’s top upcoming midfielders.

85% Of My Promises Delivered, Says Kano Governor Yusuf

With only 15% of his presidency up, Governor of Kano State Abba Yusuf has declared that his administration has delivered on all of the promises made to the state’s citizens.

The governor made this known on Thursday in Kano during the swearing-in ceremony for his new chief of staff, Sulaiman Wali Sani, the director general of the Special Services Directorate, Major General Sani Muhammad (rtd), and 11 newly appointed special advisers.

Governor Yusuf addressed the appointees and members of the public, stating that the administration had accomplished the milestone after conducting a thorough analysis of its performance over the past two years.

“I’m happy that we put all the promises we made to the people into action 85% of the time,” Yusuf said at the polling point last week. So I should set some alarms for the upcoming one or two, let’s say two years. Is it up to us to execute this 15%?

The State Executive Council was already reviewing the situation, he added, “We have already presented the matter to the State Executive Council.” We only have 15% and have two years. Without going into more detail, he said, “we are looking at the three situations.”

Governor Yusuf emphasized that his administration would continue to lead a fast-paced, proactive administration.

“We are introducing new programs and practices that will continue to have an impact on the good people of the state,” he said. “And so it’s impossible for us to do it alone.” We must carry it out with you all.

The governor also urged the newly appointed officials to provide honest and constructive feedback and to uphold the principles of accountability and transparency in their positions.

Don’t just go into the air if there is a problem. Don’t begin your research. Because you are investigating yourself, Yusuf said. “Come straight and tell us where we are right and wrong,” the message is. You are here for that reason.

He also reaffirmed that officials have a lot of responsibility to take on when managing public assets.

The governor urged people to “achieve accountability and transparency, especially in the prudent use of the few resources that you have in the hands of the people.” The phrase “Your entire world is in your hands. You can’t cross that line, no matter whether you like it or not.

There is no one among you that I have not been acquainted with, Governor Yusuf declared in a note of personal confidence in his appointing committee members.

ITV renews The Assembly for second series with more episodes as Hollywood star set to join

Danny Dyer, David Tennant, Jade Thirlwall, Gary Lineker, and others were in the popular ITV show’s candid interviews this year. The series is now scheduled for an extended follow-up.

Following the success of the first series, ITV’s ground-breaking interview program The Assembly will return with an additional seven-part run next year. Additionally, there won’t be any questions asked, and it will feature a Hollywood star in the interview process this time.

It comes after Danny Dyer, David Tennant, Jade Thirlwall and Gary Lineker proved a huge hit with viewers, with producers now in talks with others from the worlds of TV, film, music and sport.

A show source told the Mirror: “Bosses are thrilled that, not only is there a second series, but that they can do more episodes this time around, too. The appetite for this show has been huge. With so many ideas for celebrities to take part, it needed to come back with a longer run. The calibre of names being discussed is really impressive – it’s looking like there could be a big Hollywood name in the mix.”

David Tennant
During his time on the show, which included acting alongside one of the group, David Tennant gave open responses.

A group of autistic, neurodivergent, and/or learning disabilities were asked to interview some of the best-known faces of the UK for the series, which one critic described as “the most groundbreaking TV show of the year.” Gary Lineker and David Tennant also experienced heartache during Gary’s and Gary’s chat with the group, where Danny left sobbing as he reflected on his life.

No questions will be left out of the question and no topic will be off limits this time around. Six new interviews and a seventh episode, The Assembly: Unseen, which will contain additional footage, will make up the series’ seven episodes.

ITV entertainment commissioner David Smyth said the response to the first run had been “thrilling”. “There was no doubt in my mind that we needed to do more,” he added. “I can’t wait to see what questions The Assembly will put to our next group of bold celebrities and what their responses will be.”

Gary Lineker
Gary initially appeared nervous, but he quickly realized how much he enjoyed being quizzed on the program.

Producer Stu Richards of Rockerdale Studios, who chuckled, “I can’t believe we’re still getting away with this.” It’s a ridiculous privilege to create something that almost doesn’t follow the rules of traditional television. I’m buzzing a lot right now.

When it first premiered earlier this year, the series received a lot of critical acclaim. Nick Ferrari, president of LBC, said, “If there was a better show made for terrestrial television this year, I would be disappointed. It is breathtaking. The Radio Times called it “extraordinary,” while The Mirror called it “a breath of fresh air.”

Katie Rawcliffe, the show’s executive producer, described it as “ITV entertainment at its best.” It’s warm, funny, revealing, and a little mischievous, she continued. We’re eager to see what we can learn from the fantastic questions The Assembly will ask, and we have a lot of ideas for the famous faces who will appear in series two.
