Danny Jones’ biggest fear is ‘losing his career’ over Maura Higgins kiss

Danny Jones is reportedly fearing he could ‘ lose his career ‘ because of his kiss with Maura Higgins.

The McFly singer is married to Georgia Horsley, with the two tying the knot in 2014 and sharing a seven-year-old son named Cooper. However, at a recent BRIT Awards afterparty on March 1, he was filmed sharing a smooch with Love Island star and I’m A Celebrity campmate Maura Higgins.

Danny attended the awards ceremony with his McFly bandmate Tom Fletcher, but was the only member of his band in attendance at the glitzy afterparty Danny, Maura and Georgia have yet to publicly speak out about the incident, but a source from Danny’s camp said he has concerns that his long career could be coming to an end.

They said: “Earlier today, Georgia broke her silence by posting a picture of Cooper, their son. But I don’t think we can get too excited. We need to remember that in the past 2 weeks, 2 videos have emerged online of Danny and Maura spending the night of the BRITs together.

” Georgia is likely trying to resume some normality because she has other engagements that she has to fulfil. Danny has been too silent and I believe this is because he’s expecting it to pass and he can resume his career like normal. Danny has been more concerned to family and friends that his career is coming to an end, when he should be caring about his marriage to his wife and his son.

“It’s time for Danny to explain to his fans and audience what has happened and to own his mistakes”. Earlier today, Georgia broke her silence on the shock kiss by sharing a sweet black-and-white photo of the couple’s son. The mum, who is said to have been ‘ humiliated ‘ by Dannys ‘ actions added a simple blue heart as a dedication to her only child in the caption.

Georgia’s supportive followers were quick to rush to the comments to share their support. “Love you. what a lucky boy he is to have a mummy like you xxxxxx”, wrote one. While another added: “Hope you’re okay Georgia, you’ve got this”. Someone else added: “YES GIRL!!! Lovely to see Coops a post from you. You’ve got this”.

While another commented: “So nice to see you back posting. We’re all behind you and love you so much”. Earlier this week, Georgia was a no-show for her Monday podcast with Kelsey Parker as she pulled out of all work commitments after Danny’s kiss with Maura. Sources close to the mum told the Mirror she was at a loss at what to say publicly about the betrayal.

BBC presenter’s replacement revealed after unexpected quitting following 26 year stint

The BBC have made a huge announcement following the surprise exit of one of its radio presenters.

Mishal Husain unexpectedly left BBC 4 in December. Mishal was on of the Today programme’s main presenters but concluded her 26-year career with the organisation before the turn of the year.

Now, it’s been revealed she is being replaced by former Middle East correspondent Anna Foster. The former BBC Radio 5 Live and Radio 1’s Newsbeat presenter is stepping in to present a number of editions of the show from Salford. It marks the BBC’s efforts to represent more areas of the UK beyond London.

Mishal Husain left the BBC in December 2024 (BBC)

Anna said in a statement following the announcement: “There are few more exciting opportunities for a journalist than presenting Today, and I’m thrilled to be joining the team. I’ve always loved making important, agenda-setting, engaging radio, and there’s nowhere better to do that. It’s such a beloved programme to so many people, and I can’t wait to be a part of it”.

The BBC also said that Foster’s role in covering foreign news wouldn’t stop, with the company saying viewers will still see her on TV coverage of major stories. Speaking following the announcement, the station’s controller Mohit Bakaya said: “She brings important international reporting experience at a time when it is needed so urgently by listeners to Radio 4”.

Anna has been one of a number of people to have taking on a co-host role on Today in the weeks since Mishal’s exit. Simon Jack and Jonny Dymond have also stepped in, but it’s reported BBC wanted a female host to be Mishal’s replacement in order to maintain gender balance on the show. Currently, the show’s other presenters include Emma Barnett, Justin Webb, Amol Rajan and Nick Robinson.

Mishal had joined the Today programme in 2013. However, she left her role to take on a new position at Bloomberg. Joining her co-presenters Nick Robinson and Justin Webb, as well as former Today hosts Sarah Montague and John Humphrys, the journalist took to the airwaves for one last time for the BBC in December. In her segment, she shared a few sentimental remarks about her time with the news outlet. She then closed with a heartfelt song that she felt best captured her emotions on her final day.

“The moment is now upon me, time to say farewell to this programme and to the BBC”, she told listeners on her final show. “In my time here, I have found more in me than I knew was there, and I journey on to discover what might lie within me. In the tradition of my faith, when people used to go on pilgrimage in generations past, they would not only take their leave of friends and associates, but they would ask for their forgiveness because, in those days, many did not return from the arduous journey”.

She added: “I hope, therefore, you might forgive me for the times I crashed the pips, squeezed the weather, any other dastardly deeds, and yes, the 1810 that did involve swearing. But my heartfelt thanks go to all my BBC colleagues across the UK and around the world and to you, wherever you are listening from, for your time and your trust. On this last morning, I have been allowed music and I am going to leave you with my choice”. The Monkees ‘ Daydream Believer then began playing, with the star adding: “From me, good morning and goodbye”.

‘The best game I’ve ever been involved in’ – Slot on PSG defeat

Liverpool boss Arne Slot described Tuesday’s Champions League shootout loss on penalties to Paris St-Germain as “the best game of football I’ve been involved in”, despite his side exiting the competition as a result.

After losing last week’s first leg 1-0 in Paris, the visitors levelled the tie at Anfield on aggregate thanks to Ousmane Dembele’s 12th-minute strike.

Liverpool had plenty of chances to score themselves, but the game went to extra time and was decided on spot-kicks, where PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma saved from Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones, before Desire Doue fired home to seal a 4-1 success.

“It was the best game of football I have ever been involved in”, Slot said on Amazon Prime.

“It was an incredible performance, especially if you compare it with last week. Maybe we ran out of luck because the margins were so small.

” We played the perfect game, except for scoring a goal. It was similar to Paris last week, when they played the perfect game and didn’t score. And then in extra time, they were maybe a little bit better. “

Defeat leaves Liverpool with a domestic double to play for.

With a 15-point lead at the top, the Reds are all but certain of winning the Premier League, while they face Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.

” We were pretty good and you want to go as far as possible, but we knew when we drew Paris that it was going to be very difficult, “admitted Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk.

” In Paris, we struggled but we won. Today we saw a very good Liverpool side, but we’re out of the competition. “

Scotland left-back Andy Robertson said the focus will turn to Newcastle now as he added:” It wasn’t meant to be and we need to dust ourselves down. We always bounce back, there’s a lot of tired legs in there. Cup finals, we enjoy them, and that’s the biggest game. “

PSG boss Luis Enrique felt Liverpool were unlucky as he said:” Both of the teams deserve to go to the next phase.

“They played better than us here, but I think my team at Anfield, in a special stadium showed great personality and character.

Alexander-Arnold doubtful for final

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is a doubt for Sunday’s final against Newcastle at Wembley.

The England defender was substituted in the second half against PSG after appearing to jar a knee in a challenge with Vitinha.

” He had to come off – that’s never a good sign, “said Slot.

” From what I heard from people that saw the images of how he got injured, it didn’t look very good.

“I would be surprised if he is]available] for Sunday”.

Alexander-Arnold missed last year’s EFL Cup final win over Chelsea.

England manager Thomas Tuchel will name his first squad on Friday for World Cup qualifiers against Latvia and Albania this month.

Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 1,112

Here is the situation on Wednesday, March 12:

Ceasefire talks

Senior officials from the United States and Ukraine met in Saudi Arabia’s port city of Jeddah for nine hours of talks, after which Kyiv said it had agreed to accept an immediate 30-day truce and take steps towards restoring long-lasting peace with Moscow, a US-Ukraine joint statement announced.

  • US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said after the talks the “ball is now in Russia’s court”.
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy welcomed the truce as a “positive” deal and said the US now must convince Russia to accept the proposal.
  • Following the high-level meeting, Washington announced that it would immediately lift all military aid suspensions imposed on Ukraine and resume intelligence sharing with Kyiv. Pavlo Palisa, the deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office, confirmed the resumption of US military assistance.
  • Responding to the outcome of the US-Ukraine talks in Jeddah, Trump said he hopes Russia agrees to the ceasefire deal, adding that US officials will meet their Russian counterparts later this week.
  • Despite their public clash at the Oval Office last month, Trump said he would also invite Zelenskyy back to the White House.
  • Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia expects the US to brief Moscow on its talks with Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia on the proposed ceasefire.
  • The Reuters news agency reported that Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, is scheduled to visit Moscow this week to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Fighting

  • Russia said its forces have reclaimed 12 settlements and more than 100sq km (38.6sq miles) of territory in the Kursk region from Ukrainian troops who entered Russia in August 2024 in a surprise military incursion.
  • The death toll in Russia from Ukraine’s barrage of 337 drones on Tuesday has risen to three, while a total of 18 people were injured.
  • The death toll from a Ukrainian strike on a shopping centre in Kursk also rose from three to five, the region’s governor, Alexander Khinshtein, said.
  • The Russian Ministry of Defence said its troops captured the village of Dachne in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region.
  • Donetsk regional Governor Vadym Filashkin said six people were killed – including two children – and seven others were wounded in Russian attacks.
  • Ukraine’s Sea Ports Authority said in a post on Facebook, which it later deleted, that a Russian missile attack on a grain vessel in the Ukrainian Black Sea port of Odesa killed four people and left the ship damaged.
  • Ukraine’s air defence forces were mobilised to repel an overnight Russian air attack on Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

Politics and diplomacy

  • Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the visiting secretary-general of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Feridun Sinirlioglu, will be brought to a site in Moscow where Ukrainian drones were shot down during a large-scale raid on Tuesday, state news agency RIA Novosti reported.
  • Zakharova also said Ukraine’s drone attack on Moscow indicated Kyiv was losing on the battlefield, leading it to directly attack civilian areas.
  • Russia’s Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov visited troops in Kursk and awarded medals to soldiers for successfully ousting Ukrainian forces from the territory, the Defence Ministry said.

Courteney Cox’s Snow Patrol boyfriend rushed to hospital for surgery after nasty injury

A major UK rock star has been rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.

Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid is now racing to recover ahead of a busy festival season for the band. Lead singer Gary Lightbody confirmed that McDaid, who is dating Friends icon Courteney Cox injured his hand after getting it caught in a door. But the injuries didn’t stop there for McDaid.

The band had been playing two sold out shows in Belfast after two separate incidents involving Johnny but he continued to perform despite the pain. He sustained his latest injury ahead of their show last Thursday. “Johnny McDaid had hurt his hand at the start of the tour, we were going from Switzerland to Frankfurt on a train”, said Lightbody.

He went on to tell RTE: “We did the whole European tour on the train, it was really fun — except for this thing which happened, where Jonny got his hand caught in a door. And it wrecked his hand. He ended up getting surgery on his hand. Never missed a show.

” And then the Thursday night in Belfast, at midnight or so, he fell and wrecked his other hand — smashed his knuckles on his other hand. When we came in for soundcheck on Friday, he couldn’t move the fingers on his right hand. And he still played the show on Friday night. “

Gary said Johnny had undergone his surgery on Sunday, adding it was” insane””. He had two broken hands on Friday’s sow and he played the gig, “the singer commented”. Unbelievable — he’s made of different stuff from the rest of us, absolutely, “he said.

The operation comes six years after the band were forced to pull out of playing Glastonbury Festival due to Johnny requiring an operation on his neck. At the time, Gary told fans:” Our dear brother, piano and guitar player Johnny McDaid has a serious problem with his neck and after consulting with some top neurosurgeons they are all in agreement that the only course of action is immediate surgery.

“Johnny has been incredible in the wake of this news and has remained calm at a time when a lot of people might freak out”. The health scare comes ahead of a hectic schedule for the band who are due to play dozens of shows across the UK this summer, with their first being in Cardiff on June 12, before heading to the likes of Plymouth, Delamere, Cannock Chase and Scarborough.

But despite their busy schedule, Johnny has been speaking about his new book, The Forest Is The Path, which coincides with the release of their latest album, which was inspired by the death of his dad in 2019. Jack, Gary’s dad had tragically suffered from dementia.

Speaking about his late dad, he said: “In my youth he was more of a sort of a stoic figure. He was a very funny man but he wouldn’t have been too emotional. I never saw him cry or anything like that, he was kind of a tough guy. He wouldn’t be running around telling people his feelings or anything like that, which probably would have been the opposite of me, I was more like my mum. Him and I were a bit sort of chalk and cheese”.

2025 Guinness Under-20 Six Nations: Wales v England

Venue: Cardiff Arms Park Date: Friday, 14 March Kick-off: 19: 30 GMT

Throwing a pinpoint line-out ball and scrummaging are still key facets, but it is in the loose where the world’s best hookers thrive.

When 19-year-old Kepu Tuipulotu broke clear against Scotland in the Under-20 Six Nations and nudged through a well-weighted grubber kick to set up another England try, the Bath star showcased exactly why he is so highly rated.

The kick was not a fluke. That exact skill was executed when he captained England Under-18s against South Africa.

“The]kicking] ability just came from when I was younger, from throwing the ball about with my mates and family”, Tuipulotu told BBC Sport.

“My first XVs coach in Harrow gave me a kicking licence. I didn’t attempt to use it a lot but it allowed me to put the ball into spaces.

” That has transferred on to me now as something to show I am not a typical standard hooker in hitting rucks, scrumming and throwing line-outs. “

Throwing the ball about in the back garden will not upskill every young hopeful, but it helps when you come from a family as rich in rugby as Tuipulotu’s.

His father Sione played a good chunk of his career in Wales with Pontypool, Caerphilly and Newport Gwent Dragons, and also featured at two Rugby World Cups for Tonga.

His sister Sisilia props for Wales, and his cousin Carwyn Tuipulotu played for Wales Under-20s and is now impressing in France at Top 14 club Pau after recently leaving Scarlets.

That is only the start of the rugby family tree. Wales number eight Taulupe Faletau is another cousin, with Scotland captain Sione and his younger brother Mosese Tuipulotu, who plays for Edinburgh, also relations.

Former England internationals Billy and Mako Vunipola and their younger cousin Manu, who is now at Mie Honda Heat in Japan after playing for England Under-20s and Saracens, are also cousins, further adding to the rugby heritage.

Whether it was Faletau turning up to a Bath University match to offer some feedback to his little cousin, or a simple text from Billy – the 19-year-old has always been happy to lean on his family ties.

” I love having them tear up in their own way and as a young player I can take parts of their game and put it into mine, “he added.

” I try to take Carwyn’s ball-carrying ability into my game, Sisilia’s ability to go at the line, double pump, offload or run hard lines, and Faletau’s ability off the ball to be everywhere.

Picking England ‘ the right decision ‘

Born to Tongan parents in south Wales, Tuipulotu was educated at Harrow School and featured for London Irish at under-17 and under-18 level.

Following the demise of Irish, Tuipulotu joined Bath’s academy before marking his senior debut with a hat-trick against Ampthill in the Premiership Cup.

Investec Champions Cup and Premiership action soon followed, but before any of that, the dynamic hooker – who weighs just over 18 stone – was already on the radar of former Wales head coach Warren Gatland.

Still at school, he received a call to train with Wales during last year’s Six Nations, which he declined to focus on his exams and the England pathway.

“It was surreal to receive that phone call”, Tuipulotu recalled.

“But I wanted to finish my academics and focus on rugby after that. I was already going through the England pathway.

” I feel like I’ve made the right decision. At the time I had not played a game of men’s rugby. I just took a step back and realised what is the best case for me in the long term. “

Seeing the sudden rise of the likes of Sale prop Asher Opoku-Fordjour, who played senior and England Under-20s rugby in 2024, gives Tuipulotu hope that another call to join a senior international camp could come quickly.

A British and Irish Lions tour this summer could result in one, if not both, of Jamie George and Luke Cowan-Dickie heading to Australia, and that might open the door for a young hooker to go on England’s tour of Argentina in July.

” It is all about focusing on now and having that optimism that I could have the possibility of going, “he said.

” But it is all about getting the head down and grafting. “

Before any potential senior honours, a first English Under-20 Six Nations Grand Slam since 2021 remains within touching distance.

A fitting final hurdle comes against Wales in Cardiff on Friday night, when Tuipulotu expects plenty of close family to be in attendance.

” It’ll be a big turnout as all my family live in Wales, “he said with a smile.
