Detty December Showed Need To Open Up Nigeria For Tourists – Minister

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, claimed last Detty December made it clear that more tourists wanted to visit Nigeria.

The end-of-year holiday season is typically from mid-December through the New Year in Nigeria, or Detty December.

The country’s economy was boosted by the arrival of tourists in December last year.

Read more about Tinubu’s alleged role in transforming democracy, judicial hegemony, and others.

Tunji-Ojo, who was a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, claimed that the Federal Government now has a duty to facilitate entry into the nation to draw in more foreign direct investment.

We must facilitate entry for honest citizens who want to explore our nation’s beauty. Mr. President is working so hard every day to increase foreign direct investment, ensure that people visit Nigeria, and we are seeing the results.

The most people who came into Nigeria for the New Year’s Eve were last December, we called it Detty December. It was fantastic. That alone demonstrates to us that we must make room for ourselves, Tunji-Ojo said.

improved visa-on-arrival

The introduction of the e-visa is one of the steps taken in this direction, according to the minister. He claimed that the e-visa is more useful than its replacement because it improves visa-on-arrival.

The minister claimed that the visa-on-arrival process had been hampered by several bottlenecks since the introduction of the e-visa.

Today’s “visa-on-arrival” is a form of electronic travel. The only difference is that when you apply online, the CG’s office approves visa-on-arrival, he said.

When you arrive in Nigeria, you must go to the “visa-on-arrival counter,” where they will take a vignette and attach it to your passport, and they send you a notice that it is approved. You take that notice.

We assert that that is not necessary. Therefore, the visa-on-arrival application process was only made to allow online applicants to apply. You can apply online with a decision that will come after you have chosen not to use a vignette or scan the QR code.

After the 40th anniversary episode that brought the two actors back together, Ross Kemp has shed a big hints about his future on the soap.

As Queen Vic landlord Grant Mitchell in EastEnders, Ross Kemp was involved in gangster plots, murder whodunnits and love triangles that kept him on the front pages throughout his fulltime stint on the soap. And now he’s dropped a huge hint about his future on Albert Square.

Establishing himself as an gritty investigative talent with his docuseries Ross Kemp on Gangs, he made a couple of brief returns to the soap in 2005 and 2006 before establishing himself as a Bafta winning documentary presenter with programmes including Ross Kemp in Afghanistan, Ross Kemp Extreme World and even Ross Kemp in search of Pirates.

Due to his close bond with his Enders co star Barbara Windsor who played on screen mum Peggy Mitchell, he returned to Albert Square in 2016 to film her final scenes. Barbara, who had dementia, sadly passed away four years later, at the age of 83, on December 10, 2020.

It meant Ross’s shock return last month to the soap that made him a star, bittersweet. “It was very emotional to be back there without Bar,” Ross tells The Mirror in an exclusive interview. The 60 year old actor was involved in storylines to commmerate EastEnders 40th anniversary which saw Peggy’s beloved Queen Vic pub burnt down.

“There was a scene where, after the Vic went up in flames, I had to go around the back of the Vic to rescue Sharon (Letitia Dean) And it was a particular place where I used to stand with Bar and where we would sit on the stairs together between the scenes when they were readjusting cameras. Because I had spent a lot of time with Barbara on that particular set, I was at a loss for words.

Five years have passed since the beloved Enders and Carry On star’s passing in this year. “Sometimes it feels like so much longer Bar’s been gone and sometimes it feels like less. It was “devastating””. Ross and her husband Scott Mitchell also developed a close friendship through their close relationship.

“I speak to Scott all the time, we always manage to find time for each other when I’m in London”, he said. “Bar’s funeral eulogy was requested by Scott. That was a great honor. The shame for me was that it was during lockdown and not so many people could be there. Because of her popularity, I believe the populous British people would have lined up for her. I really miss her.

Ross’s return as Grant Mitchell before his character jetted off back to Portugal meant he was able to reconnect with another co- star who he worked closely with. His on-screen brother Phil Mitchell has been an integral part of the BBC soap ever since Grant and Phil first made their joint appearance 35 years ago. On screen, after Phil’s psychotic breakdown and telling his brother he was dead to him, the brothers eventually reconciled and resolved to stay in touch.

Ross and Steve are also in the same boat. Ross and Steve, 66, have previously been described as “colleagues” rather than friends, but as of right now, thanks to recent scenes of their relationship, Ross has come to understand their partnership better.

Of his return to the soap, Ross says: “When the producers first asked me last year I thought why not? It will make people happy, it will make me happy and it will pay for Christmas! Luckily Steve had the door open for me – he could have closed it. But we picked up where we left off. We had a couple of chats before I started filming.”

“My first day after not being on set for a number of years was, screaming and shouting and crying and wrestling a gun off him as he was about to shoot himself in the head. It starts like that. And it was like that for the next month. When I finished, we said we’d keep in touch and we have. I mean we are not phoning each other every day but I think we had a good ten years working virtually every day with each other and I think when you get older – that becomes more important than it was at the time.” Ross adds: “We both have families and we saw enough of each other for ten years, but I wouldn’t rule out a social catch up soon. We both love seafood so will probably go for a nice dinner.”

Working on the 40th anniversary episodes, he says reminded them both about how well they work together and what “fun we can have”. He states, “We’ve always been friends, but we’ve grown closer since I visited for the 40th anniversary. I don’t think soap actors are praised for their acting abilities because Steve is a good actor. Acclaim and recognition is reserved for people doing films and big one off dramas but Steve is absolutely fantastic. I respect him greatly for his ability to maintain that energy for 35 years. I don’t believe Rose jokes, which include “Steve says every time he looks at me”? “I said every time I look at you, I think lots of work”!

The actor teased the audience, saying, “I would love to work with him again, and it was really good working with Steve again.” There were certainly enough hints that Grant will be swapping Portugal for Walford on a more long-term basis. Grant had forgotten that Mark Fowler Jr. was aware that Grant was his father at Sharon’s, but he had already decided to stay in touch with him. She hoped it would be Michelle, the sister of Martin, as Sharon’s phone rang, before leaving the room. As she left, she had left her phone book open, as Grant glanced over at Mark’s number.

Fans have predicted the return of Mark Jr, who was originally played by Ned Porteous, who now plays Joe Tate in ITV soap Emmerdale. Earlier on in the episode, he was heard telling Nigel (Paul Bradley) his life in Portugal wasn’t as perfect as he thought, revealing he hadn’t spoken to his daughter Courtney in a while after a huge row. As for his love life, he described his romance with Marcia who lives in Portugal as an “on/off relationship.”

And Grant was determined to care for Nigel, a young on set dementia sufferer. The old love triangle between Grant, Sharon, and Phil is also back in sharp force after Grant had slept with Sharon before leaving.

In the meantime Ross, who will be appearing in BBC show Who Do You Think You Are later this year, has been busy filming video messages for fans. He has been inundated with requests to film Mother’s Day videos after advertising his services on his new website.

He describes his new side gig as “the first time I’ve done it,” and “someone suggested it and I thought why not.” I saw how much other people were charging and thought I’ll set up mu website so I did it. I’ll respond when people ask what they want to say in the video to their mother.

You realize when you’re wasting energy because it saves money and is environmentally friendly. In the summer, my kids accidentally put the towel rack on. It all adds up”.

Katie Price’s ex-boyfriend unrecognisable as he undergoes Turkey Teeth transformation

Dane Bowers, a nineties pop star, unveiled his dramatic new look on social media by revealing his Turkey Teeth transformation.

Nineties pop icon Dane Bowers underwent a shock transformation as he took to social media to show fans his new look . The singer, who was part of the R&B boy band Another Level, transformed his teeth by undergoing veneer treatment, also known as Turkey Teeth.

The procedure involves filing down the teeth and fitting new dental implants to create the ‘perfect smile’. Dane took to Instagram, pulling down his bottom lip to unveil the results. On his Instagram Stories, he posted a video showing all of his teeth, as well as his blood lined gums, clearly revealing his natural teeth had been filed down to thin stumps.

The post’s title was “Lower row shaved.” He also added an emoji for facepalming and the phrase “Damn” along with this. Fans were then given a closer look at the stubs by him as he turned the camera.

Dane tried to update his followers, but his mouth was obviously numbed. He said in the video, “You can’t laugh about these things.” I can’t talk… In a Marvel film, I appear baddie.

Due to the affordable prices, the star traveled to Bodrum, Turkey, where the procedure is now more popular. He quipped, “We look so sexy,” along with his pal, who was also receiving the same treatment.

Dane revealed that he had temporary teeth in place for the time being, but that the procedure would be finished the following day. “I can now talk about how slowly the anaesthesia is getting off. He explained that he only has the fake teeth in for now and will return tomorrow to have the crowns fixed.

Dane described the torrent of messages he received after sharing his procedure as “more than anything else.” Why would I share this, people are asking me. Do I feel embarrassed? Not at all. Never is my vanity particularly important. I don’t mind people seeing my worst, but I’m most definitely at my worst right now.

I knew I wanted it, and I’m confident in the end result. Really, everything is good. The actor also received a hair transplant while he was in Turkey, which improved his transformation.

Another Level, Dane’s former band, was a British R&amp, B boy band that was well-known for its smooth harmonies and catchy tunes in the late 1990s. Dane, Mark Baron, Bobak Kianoush, and Tyrone “T” were the initial members of the group. With songs like From the Heart and Be Alone No More, they gained notoriety.

The music of Another Level incorporated R&amp, B, pop, and soul, and they were well-known on the UK charts. The group ended in the early 2000s despite their early success, with Dane now working alone after their split.

Throughout his career, Dane Bowers has been linked to several high-profile stars, including former glamour model Katie Price and Love Island star Laura Anderson. Last year, Katie opened up about her past relationship with Dane, revealing that one of his hit songs is actually inspired by her.

Dane was Katie’s “love of her life” when she first met him in 1998’s peak of her Jordan career. However, Katie admits that she became “obsessed” after their split and fought valiantly to get his attention.

When she first spoke of her “first love,” which she met when she was 18 and when she met Dane, she said on her Katie Price Show podcast that she was “awkward” about affairs of the heart when she was younger and that she followed him wherever he went even though they were no longer together. She believes that her husband’s well-known garage tune, Buggin’ Me with True Steppers, was about her. She said, “I was getting ready for an event that night, and it was “Banggin’, Buggin’ Me.” And I assumed that the song was about me. I’m interested in that song and those words.

French-Algerian author Boualem Sansal sentenced to five years in prison

Boualem Sansal, a French-Algerian writer, has been given a five-year prison sentence in Algeria for allegedly undermining national unity.

After he questioned the boundaries that separate Algeria from its regional rival Morocco in an interview with the far-right French media outlet Frontieres, a court in Dar El Beida, close to Algiers, sentenced the author to “anti-terrorism” laws on Thursday.

Sansal argued in the interview that France had expanded Algeria’s borders during the colonial era to include areas that once belonged to Morocco in the interview that was published last October. He was detained when he arrived in Algiers the following month.

Algeria and France’s relationship sagged after Algeria’s position was changed last summer when France changed its mind to recognize Morocco’s authority over the disputed Western Sahara territory. This was made even worse when Algeria refused to return Algerians who were slated for deportation.

French President Emmanuel Macron made a Thursday appeal to Algeria’s authorities, calling on them to use “good sense and humanity” to “give him Sansal’s] back his freedom and allow him to be treated for the disease he is fighting”

The author’s cancer has been reported in French media.

tensions between France and Algeria

Sansal, the 2011 Peace Prize winner of the German Book Trade, has frequently visited Algeria and has had his books freely sold there. He has long criticized the country’s authorities.

According to Hociane Amine, a lawyer who was present in the courtroom, the author, who chose to defend himself, denied that the remarks violated laws or were intended to harm Algeria.

He obviously has the right to file an appeal. The president has the right to grant him a pardon because it serves as a political card in the current political crisis with France, Amine said.

Sansal, who was residing in France, has previously been criticized by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who described him as an “imposter.”

However, some observers have suggested that the author might receive a presidential pardon during upcoming Muslim or national holidays.

Sansal’s five-year sentence, which was requested by the prosecution, is half as severe as it is recommended for those accused of violating Algeria’s controversial “anti-terrorism” law, which was put in place after a nation-wide uprising last ten years.

Algerian human rights activists claim that anti-government voices have long been suppressed by the laws.

Salford Red Devils wages late for second time

Due to ongoing financial problems, the Red Devils of Salford haven’t paid players or staff on time for the second occasion this year.

Before the start of the current campaign, the club received an early payment of their 2025 revenue share due to a turbulent off-season.

On the eve of the season, the Red Devils were acquired by a consortium led by Swiss investment banker Dario Berta, but their problems persist, leading to the RFL enforcing a sustainability cap that has had an impact on team selection.

Our payroll wasn’t delivered this morning as scheduled, despite assurances, the statement said, as many people will already be aware.

Everyone at Red Devils of Salford continues to struggle with this situation.

We, as players and staff, have continued to uphold our commitments with professionalism, keeping the club competitive both on and off the field, regardless of this. We’re now awaiting the same level of commitment from those in charge of maintaining our organization’s stability.

The unwavering support of our fans and partners during this difficult time is both inspiring and humbling, and it makes a difference for both players and staff.

Boss Paul Rowley resolutely stated that his squad’s resolve would remain unchanged despite his pre-game media commitments for Sunday’s game against Wigan Warriors.

Red Devils of Salford’ current state:

  • Due to financial difficulties, Salford and November 2024 request that their 2025 revenues be paid off sooner. Three days later, this is finally granted.
  • 15 January 2025 – The RFL orders Salford to sell players as their financial issues continue into the new year.
  • 7 February 2025 A consortium led by businessman Dario Berta passes a takeover on the eve of the season. The new owners will pay the club’s debt and pledge “additional significant investment for the future growth of the club,” according to Berta’s group’s approval of the RFL.
  • 13 February 2025 – Despite the agreement to the takeover, the club is still in the sustainability cap, and they have the option of fielding mostly reserve players for their season opener against St Helens.

  • The biggest winning margin in Super League history is 82-0, as witnessed by Saints on February 15, 2025, a heavily depleted Salford. In the wake of their team selection, the RFL investigates them.
  • The sustainability cap is lifted on March 4, 2025, but it is later reinstated because of ongoing financial problems that the club’s campaign campaign started to face.
  • 6 March 2025 – On the eve of their game against Castleford, which results in another defeat, they are eventually paid with wages for February still due.
  • 13 March 2025: Talismanic half-back Marc Sneyd leaves the team to join Warrington, launching a flurry of important squad players like Tim Lafai and Brad Singleton.
  • Salford won their first Super League game 20 March 2025, sealing their impressive comeback against the Huddersfield Giants.

Israel’s parliament passes law to expand control over judge appointments

Infuriating critics who labeled the Israeli government’s plan to reform the country’s judiciary, the Israeli parliament approved a crucial component of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s defiance of a years-long protest movement.

Politicians will have more authority over the appointment of judges thanks to the law, which was passed on Thursday with 67 votes in the 120-seat parliament or Knesset.

The government formally resigned as attorney general Gali Baharav-Miara and fired Shin Bet’s head of internal security Ronen Bar, two days prior to the vote. Netanyahu is both criticized by Baharav-Miara and Bar.

The opposition quickly filed a petition with the Supreme Court challenging the new law, calling it a “catastrophe” and a “nail in the coffin of Israeli democracy.”

Before the Gaza war caused the public’s concern, the overall judicial reform package sparked one of the largest protests in Israel’s history in 2023.

The bill was intended to “restore balance” between the legislative and judicial branches, according to Justice Minister Yariv Levin, who was the bill’s sponsor. Levin criticized the Supreme Court in his final remarks before the vote, claiming that it had “effectively nullified the Knesset.”

Israel’s constitution is unwritten, but it does have some basic laws that outline things like the parliament’s authority and human rights.

Levin claimed that the Supreme Court put itself above the government because it continued to “trample” the Knesset. It has the power to halt any government action, compel the government to carry out any action, and revoke any government appointment.

The era of silencing and appeasement has passed, and there will never be another.

A nine-member committee made up of judges, lawmakers, and representatives from bar associations is currently overseen by the justice minister, who also includes justices from the Supreme Court.

The committee would still consist of three supreme court judges, the justice minister, two ministers, one coalition lawmaker, one opposition lawmaker, and two public representatives, one of whom the majority and the opposition would nominate.

During demonstrations demanding the release of all Hamas-held prisoners, demonstrators gathered on the ground as security forces removed those who had blocked the entrance to the Knesset.

A “nog in the coffin,” in the best way.

On X, Yair Lapid, the leader of the center-right Yesh Atid party, announced that he had filed an appeal against the law on behalf of several opposition parties.

This government is returning to the exact legislation that caused the public’s discord before October 7 by focusing all efforts on their [Israeli captives’] return and healing the divisions within the population, Lapid said in his post.

Eliad Shraga, the head of the NGO The Movement for Quality Government in Israel and one of the petitioners against the law, “The amendment passed by the Knesset is yet another nail in the coffin of Israeli democracy.” This is a deliberate attempt to take control of the court system and turn it into a political tool.

The government’s judicial reforms package, which was first introduced in early 2023, sparked a frenzied weekly street protests that divided Israeli society.
