Michelle Keegan leans on her mum for support as she adjusts to life as new parent

Mum’s the word for Michelle Keegan, as the star leans on beloved mother Jackie after welcoming her first child.

Our Girl and Fool Me One star Michelle and husband Mark Wright this week announced the arrival of their baby daughter Palma Elizabeth, who was born on March 6. As the actress adjusts to mum-life, insiders say Jackie, 63, has been a pillar of support. A frequent visitor to Michelle and Mark’s £3.5million Essex mansion, the couple even built a special ‘ granny flat ‘ when they renovated their home, where she can stay whenever she likes and for long periods. Jackie often stays at Michelle’s home, posting pictures from the house at Christmas and January as she looked out over their expansive garden and pool.

A source said she’s met Palma and has been supporting Michelle since the birth. “Jackie is over the moon to be a grandma”, they said. “Palma is her first grandchild and she is besotted, as are the whole family. She’s so proud of Michelle”.

“I’m am so excited”, Jackie wrote on Instagram in December, when people started calling her Grandma. Jackie – who also has son Andrew – and Michelle have a close relationship. “My mum, my best friend &amp, hands down THE funniest human on the planet”, Michelle wore as she paid tribute to her.

Michelle once revealed how she was constantly asked by her mum when she and her husband Mark would have children. Speaking to Jonathan Ross in 2019, she said: “Everyone always asks that question. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not getting any younger. My mum is on it as well. No plans yet, but we definitely do want children in the future”.

Despite their bond, the pair are rarely seen together. Michelle opened up about keeping her mum out of the limelight after she was subjected to nasty comments. Speaking to Fearne Cotton on her Happy Place podcast, she talked about the downside of fame and protecting her loved ones. “I remember once I stepped out of a restaurant with my mum and we got pictured and I remember my mum reading the article and she read the comments”, the actress recalled. “That really affected my mum, really bad. Now she won’t walk out of restaurants with me, because of that reason”.

Michelle and Mark will have no shortage of hands for little Palma, with both of them enjoying close relationships with their families. Mark’s mum Carol spoke of her joy at getting another grandchild, posting: “We are in love with you beautiful baby girl. Thank you Michelle and Mark for this wonder gift”.

To accommodate both sets of parents, the couple built a designer granny flat in the grounds of their Essex mansion. Plans submitted at the time showed it would boast an ensuite bedroom, a cloakroom, kitchen, dining area and sitting area. At 60 sq ft, it’s bigger than the average London flat. Former TOWIE star Mark and ex Coronation Street actress Michelle purchased the original property together for £1.3million in October 2019 and later demolished the four-bedroom farmhouse onsite for a lavish new five-bedroom mansion complete with bar, gym, kids ‘ playroom, and outdoor swimming pool.

Michelle and Mark are said to be in a “perfect love bubble” with their new baby daughter Palma and have “shut up shop and cleared the diary”. The baby – named after the Majorcan capital they love holidaying – was born a week ago, and they told only the immediate family circle. A source said: “They wanted to keep the news very private and bask in the glory of a new-born without any distractions without the world knowing. They are in a perfect love bubble with no external noises, and it’s been total and utter bliss”.

Danny Dyer and Gemma Collins kiss at Cheltenham as they celebrate race win

Danny Dyer and Gemma Collins looked to be in high spirits during the penultimate day of Cheltenham Festival where the celebrity pals spent time in a suite together.

The annual event in Cheltenham returned earlier this week and is set to conclude tomorrow. A host of celebrities have been at Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucestershire for the occasion, which is based around horse racing, this year.

Former EastEnders cast member Danny, 47, was among the guests spotted at a racecourse earlier today. He appeared to be enjoying himself this morning in the Paddy Power suite alongside the likes of Gemma, 44, and Peter Crouch, 44.

Danny and Gemma were seen watching the second race of the day together as they enjoyed drinks in the suite. Photos show reality TV star Gemma holding a champagne flute and some tickets, whilst actor Danny instead held a pint glass.

The two pals appeared in good spirits as they raised their glasses at one point during the event in one photo of them looking over the racecourse from above at the venue. Whilst another photo taken today shows Danny planting a kiss on fellow guest Gemma’s cheek whilst in the box together.

Danny, who held onto a cigarette whilst on the balcony of the suite, was seen in a grey suit at the festival. His outfit also included a blue shirt and he sported a pair of glasses as an accessory whilst out in the sunshine in Cheltenham.

Former the Only Way is Essex cast member Gemma opted to wear a pale outfit for the occasion, which included a coordinated top and trousers. She then accompanied them with a matching cape and decided to accessorise the look by adding a fascinator that featured a bow on the top of it.

Gemma showcased her outfit for Cheltenham in a post shared on her Instagram account this afternoon. The former Celebrity Big Brother housemate told her followers in the caption: “Absolute pleasure to be with]Paddy Power]”. Alongside tagging the brand, she also tagged the festival itself and the Jockey Club, which is behind the event, in her post.

A number of fans complimented Gemma in the comments section on the platform, with one writing: “Wow love this on you”. Another said: “Absolutely stunning”. A third person said: “Absolutely beautiful Gemma. Have a lovely weekend”. Not everyone seemed impressed though, with one fan reacting: “Supporting horse racing? In 2025? Girl..”. Someone else said: “Wait a minute aren’t you an animal rights activist”.

‘I found the best crossbody bag for travelling that’s deceptively roomy with space for your valuables’

When it comes to travelling, the right handbag is one of the most important things you can take with you. The best ones are practical, not too big, and easy to style with anything you might have packed in your suitcase, helping you save space whilst still working just as you need it to.

For me, that bag is Luella Grey’s Lauren Sling Bag. The £79 crossbody bag is the perfect combination of fashionable and functional, giving me plenty of space to keep all my travel essentials whilst still looking chic enough to be worn everywhere from dinner reservations to hiking.

Made from faux leather it’s easy to keep clean and is soft and lightweight enough that it won’t weigh you down if you wear it all day. The adjustable canvas strap is just the right width to prevent digging in, and you can unclip it to either swap for a different design or just to carry the Lauren Sling Bag as a clutch if you’d rather.

Attached to the strap is a small matching pouch that’s just the right size for keeping change, ear pods, keys or a credit card in, and can also be unclipped and used on its own for a pocket-sized pouch. The Lauren Sling Bag‘s curved shape also means it sits close to your body, helping keep it more secure whilst out and about and giving it a luxe, elegant look.

Measuring 15cm high, 30cm wide and 10cm deep, its modest size means it doesn’t take up too much space in your case or add too much bulkiness to your outfit. However, it’s deceptively roomy inside, giving you plenty of space for your essentials.

I can easily fit a passport, wallet, keys, makeup and even a folded up lightweight shirt inside, making it ideal for when you head out for the day on your travels. The inside zip pocket is also handy for keeping your valuables safe and secure so you can quickly access them whenever you need.

Whilst I opted for the black version, which pairs with just about any outfit, you can also pick it up in a pale blush pink or a light sage green shade if you want to add a pop of colour to your outfit. You can snap up Luella Grey’s Lauren Sling Bag for £79 now.

Alternatively, if you want something that’s more like a handbag then Dune’s Direct Asymmetric Chain Detail Shoulder Bag is £89 and comes in a choice of colours including black, khaki, burgundy and orange. It has a chain and faux leather shoulder strap, as well as a long cross body strap that lets you adjust how you wear it.

For something even more practical, Antler’s brand new Essential Crossbody Bag in Stone, £40, is foldable and adaptable. You can switch it from a longer silhouette or a shorter folded one depending on how much you want to fit inside, and it has an adjustable cord strap to adapt the length.

My Hijab, My Choice

Five British women share their personal experiences of suffering discrimination in the UK because they wear the hijab.

Islamophobia raised its ugly head in race riots in Britain in August 2024 and attacks on Muslims and mosques in the United Kingdom have increased since October 7, 2023.

Women have been targets of abuse just as much as men.

In this film based completely on their own testimonies, five British Muslim women share their experiences in frank and often emotional, intimate interviews. They challenge Western perceptions of the hijab as a symbol of female oppression and describe it as a powerful expression of commitment to their faith, which defines them as strong, independent women.

David Beckham in bizarre underwear confession as star branded new Marky Mark

Former footie ace David Beckham’s Golden Balls get a brand new pair of pants everyday, it’s been revealed.

Becks – who recently stripped off as the face (and bottom) of BOSS underwear – gets shipped unlimited undies, according to the label’s creative director. Marco Falcioni said: “Lets put it this way, that is true… he is a very high ranked customer”.

Talking at London’s V&amp, A museum Mr Falcioni also said how sales of their underwear range have rocketed and compared Becks to Marky Mark (Mark Wahlberg) when he stripped off for Calvin Klein.

Falcioni said: “To be honest he is the new Marky Mark. It is quite incredible. He is obsessed about quality and touch. He wanted to touch every fabric and is very precise with what he likes. Also David told me he and Victoria don’t really talk much about fashion at all”. Becks has a long history when it comes to parading around in his undies.

In 2015, he modelled a range for H&amp, M in an advert directed by Guy Ritchie. However the Mirror revealed at the time how his much-loved rear had been substituted by a bottom double.

In the film, he was seen vaulting over tall hedges and running through a tennis court – wearing just a pair of H&amp, M boxer shorts. But key tats on his body were missing in some of the shots – and a lookalike was spotted on set.

However in the latest BOSS campaign – in which he racily strips off and takes a shower – appears to be all him. Mr Falcioni joked of that shoot: “Taking his pants off was not my task. It was just work. I was there for the shoot”.

Becks also bared all in the bedroom for his 2009 Armani campaign, alongside his wife.

Speaking about the BOSS collaboration, the dad-of-four admitted he once thought his bodywear modelling days were behind him. However, the opportunity to work with his longtime friends Mert and Marcus convinced him otherwise.

“I once said that my bodywear modelling days had come to an end, but when BOSS shared their ambition for the range and brought in my good friends Mert and Marcus to shoot the campaign with their brilliant creative ideas I simply couldn’t refuse”, he said.

“The new BOSS One collection is beautifully made. I’m proud to support BOSS in our long-term strategic partnership with this campaign”.

Becks underwent a strict health and fitness regime to get into shape.

Vacuum cleaner that’s ‘better than Dyson and Shark’ gets 25% off in spring clean deal

Amazon shoppers are ditching their Dyson and Shark hoovers for a more wallet-friendly alternative that’s been slashed in a new spring clean offer. The Smoture VAC01 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is now available for £129.99 with the £30 voucher on the product page, marking a nearly 25% discount from its original £169.99 price tag.

It’s also been awarded the ‘ Amazon’s Choice ‘ badge, an accolade given to highly-rated, well-priced items ready for immediate dispatch. This vacuum cleaner boasts a powerful motor with strong suction that the manufacturer claims can tackle even deeply embedded dirt.

It offers four cleaning modes—Eco, Standard, Boost, and Auto—which can be selected via its touch-screen display. In Auto mode, the vacuum cleaner automatically adjusts its suction power according to the floor type, whether carpet or hard floor.

The display also alerts users to any blockages and shows the battery level, which can last up to 60 – or 18 minutes in the high-powered boost mode. The free-standing Smoture has a wall-mounted charging station that fully charges the device in four hours and provides storage for the included long flat nozzle and dusting brush.

The Smoture VAC01 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner has earned an impressive 4.8-star rating after more than 1, 250 reviews, 96% of which are four or five stars. This beats Shark’s £189.99 Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Pet Vacuum and Dyson’s £229.99 V8 Advanced, rated 4.4 stars, reports the Express.

One customer raved about the product, saying: “Worth every penny. I had the Dyson V8 Animal and this beats it. Not only is this far cheaper, it also performs better. It is lightweight but sturdy. You only have to press the power button once to turn it on/off, whereas you have to continuously hold the button for power on the Dyson. It has a convenient touch screen control for the suction power settings. The bagless compartment is also really easy to empty. It has the same wall-mounted stand but this is also designed to be free standing, so you can store it how you like. Highly recommended”.

Another customer was equally impressed, commenting: “Excellent value, versatile machine. A quality item with a functional design making it easy and versatile to use. It’s also simple enough to empty and not difficult to clean. It operates relatively quietly too. The hour-long battery life is a bonus and it doesn’t take too long to charge. It seems to be quite powerful. The fact that the end of the floor brush lights up is great for being able to see if you have picked up everything”.

One delighted customer raved: “Absolutely amazing, highly recommended. This is absolutely brilliant, I’ve had Shark, Dyson, Henry, Vax, all the big brands, but this suction power]is] brilliant, better than others on flooring or carpet. ]It] gets up close to edges without using a crevice tool. It actually stands up free standing unlike many others. Battery charge lasts twice around my bungalow]and] comes with spare parts. Absolutely a must-have – lightweight, amazing power, versatile”.

Yet, not all reviews were glowing, with a shopper pointing out: “Not bad, nowhere near the same level of suction as a Dyson, but does the job for now. Decent on hard flooring picking up bits, but needs more power for carpets”.

For those eager to get their hands on this gadget, Amazon is sweetening the deal on the Smoture VAC01 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, slashing the price to £129.99 if you apply the £30 voucher available on the product page – a bargain from the already marked down £159.99.
