Pro-Palestinian protester causes crash in Vuelta

With 56 kilometers left on stage 15, Mads Pedersen later won the Vuelta a Espana while fellow Dane Jonas Vingegaard is still the overall leader, a pro-Palestinian protester caused a minor crash.

A man who was carrying a Palestine flag stumbled onto a grass verge after leaving a wooded area by the side of the road to disrupt a group of riders.

During the 167.8km journey from A Veiga to Monforte de Lemos, the incident occurred close to the town of Castroverde.

Javier Romo of Spain, who had the worst impact on a small number of riders, was able to get back in the saddle and win the race.

Police intervened to stop another race attempt near Ribadeo as protesters gathered to wave Palestine flags in large numbers at the start and end of the stage.

There were no winners on stage 11, which was ended by race organisers three kilometers before the finish line, and protesters have repeatedly interrupted this year’s Vuelta.

On Saturday, the Israel-Premier Tech team started racing in modified jerseys without their team name displayed.

In response to the Hamas-led attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of about 1,200 people and the hostage taking of 251, Israel’s military launched a campaign in Gaza.

Pedersen’s plans are successful.

With a blistering sprint on the home straight, Lidl-Trek rider Pedersen won the race for the first time this year.

In four hours, two minutes, and 13 seconds, Pedersen triumphed over Italian champion Marco Frigo on the final stretch of what was considered a medium mountain stage.

Frigo placed third behind Venezuelan Orluis Aular, who was riding for Israel-Premier Tech, the team targeted by the protests.

In the day’s significant breakaway, Pedersen’s team-mates worked hard for him to give him a chance to win the stage.

According to Pedersen, “The boys were working so hard to make it possible.”

“Ultimately, it makes it even nicer to win when everyone notices us, everyone understands our plan, and we succeed.”

Because he gave a leadout, Frigo’s [with] 700 to 800 meters to go was flawless. At the corner, I was slowly closing him, and the sprint was about to begin.

The winner passed the line 13 and a half minutes later, with Pedersen’s compatriot Vingegaard and the other main contenders in the peloton.

Louise Redknapp lets slip family secret as she reveals what she does for her sons

Although Louise Redknapp revealed that she has a particular ritual at home, she’s unsure if she was intended to spill the beans. She just dropped her fifth studio album.

Louise Redknapp has accidentally let slip a secret about her domestic routine, confessing she wasn’t sure if she was “meant to say that”. During a recent appearance on the We’re Not Getting Any Younger podcast, the pop sensation discussed the inspirations behind her fifth studio album, ‘Confessions’, revealing her desire to keep it “current” whilst steering clear of anything nostalgic.

To accomplish this goal, she delved into contemporary music, though she acknowledged it remained “age-appropriate” as she isn’t “trying to be a 20-year-old” or copying Grammy Award-winning star Sabrina Carpenter.

Louise, who shares two teenage sons, Charley and Beau, with former husband Jamie Redknapp, was quizzed about her boys’ opinion of one of her tracks.

They informed her it would be a “cool” song if it wasn’t her performing it. Nevertheless, Louise took this in her stride, as her lads apparently rarely dish out praise, something she claims extends to her culinary efforts as well.

This led her to disclose that she regularly prepares them a tasty morning treat. She explained: “I do a sausage sandwich every morning, sausage sandwich every morning. I mean, that’s commitment.”

One presenter inquired as to whether the bread had been toasting. The hosts gave Louise an ovative nod and said, “Yeah, I toast the brioche.”

She continued, “I know, I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that because he’s supposed to be super healthy and having sourdough, but occasionally he likes a brioche.”

She also revealed that her sons don’t cook for her, but they do order her items when they get a takeaway. The ‘Light of My Life’ singer often indulges in some halloumi on these occasions.

Louise first shot to fame with the girl band Eternal before embarking on a successful solo career. Her debut album, Naked, spawned several top-ten hits and she went on to release four more albums, including Woman in Me and Elbow Beach.

After her 19-year marriage to footballer Jamie Redknapp came to an end, it was revealed in 2023 that she had found love again with aerospace firm CEO Drew Michael, whom she reportedly started dating that same year.

Louise revealed her relationship with Drew in a previous interview with the home magazine woman&amp. You can’t blame anyone else for your happiness, she said. Yes, Drew is fantastic, and I’m having a great time, but the key is to move forward and feel self-conscious.

She has also openly discussed the significant role that her sons played in her separation from Jamie.

Hull KR win derby to close on League Leaders’ Shield

Betfred Super League

Hull KR (4) 18

Tries: Davies, Davies, Litten, and Booth

Hull FC (0) 4

After defeating city rivals Hull FC in a fierce local derby, Hull KR are on the verge of winning the League Leaders’ Shield.

Rovers took a 14-point lead after Noah Booth, Jez Litten, and Jack Broadbent scored in Tom Davies’ 18-4 victory, despite Tom Briscoe’s late score giving the visitors some hope.

Rovers’ sixth successive derby victory placed them four points clear of Wigan, and it would take an unlikely combination of factors to place them at the top of the Super League after 27 games.

Second-placed Wigan would need to defeat Castleford and Leeds, as well as overturning a points difference that is currently 113 points in the direction of Hull KR, while Willie Peters’ side would need to lose both of their remaining games against Wakefield and Warrington.

A second trophy of the season is almost in their reach now that they have won the Challenge Cup for the first time since 1980 in June.

Booth’s try in the corner was the only point of the intense first half, but Hull KR could have remained in control at the break.

After a lengthy review by the video referee, Arthur Mourgue decided not to play Mikey Lewis’ length-of-the-field score for a knock-on while missing all three of his kicks at goal, including two presentable penalty chances.

The visitors could have immediately rejected Lewis’ effort, but Zak Hardaker was unable to quickly gather a sloppy kick a few yards from the try line.

When hooker Litten, who had earlier in the week, dived over from the dummy half underneath the posts, Hull KR immediately capitalized on Yusuf Aydin’s yellow card for a risky tackle shortly after the break.

Elliot Minchella, the Rovers’ home captain, collided with Lewis Martin’s head, only to have the latter make a late change of direction and a minor error before he saved the team from more severe punishment.

Leaders have “lots to work on” despite a win.

Willie Peters, the head coach of Hull KR, told BBC Radio Humberside:

“It was slack, but we obviously got the result, and we wanted to achieve that.”

We can improve on our last plays, but there is still room for improvement because of the yardage errors we made.

In the first 20 minutes, I enjoyed what we did. Even though we were only 4-of-four up, I enjoyed what we did in terms of field position and putting some pressure on, which we did with yardage errors.

The next game against Wakefield, who have a lot to play for and are a good team, is the most crucial because we know it [potentially]clinching the League Leaders’ Shield] is there.

“To go there and perform better than what we did today is the current motivation,” he said. We are aware that we must constantly improve.

John Cartwright, the head coach of Hull FC, told BBC Radio Humberside:

“Over the past eight to ten weeks, we have performed typical,” he said. Although we’ve had a few troops in crucial positions, they keep showing up.

We scored that try, and I only had a slight sense of momentum in the second half, which was abysmal. There were three forward passes, in my opinion.

Mourgue, Davies, Hiku, Broadbent, Booth, Lewis, May, Whitbread, Litten, Waerea-Hargreaves, Hadley, Batchelor, Minchella, and others are in Hull KR.

Luckley, Tanginoa, Doro, and Leyland are exchanges.

L Kemp, Briscoe, Rapana, Litten, Martin, Cust, Sezer, Ashworth, Bourouh, Watts, Hardaker, Lane, Aydin, and others.

Fash, Gardiner, Laidlaw, and C Kemp are the exchanges.
