The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi state, Bello M. Sani, personally handed the cheques to the beneficiaries at a brief ceremony held at the Command Headquarters.

He noted that the 22nd indigenous police chief had consistently placed emphasis on improving the living conditions of serving and retired personnel, as well as their families.

The police commissioner urged the families to make prudent use of the funds, stressing that they should channel it towards the education and overall well-being of their children and dependents.

He pointed out that the late officers had given their lives in service to the country, and it was only fitting that their loved ones were supported.

“The sacrifices of our fallen heroes will never be forgotten”, CP Sani said. “This is not just financial support, it is a reminder that the Nigeria Police Force stands with the families of those who died in the line of duty”.

Over 1.3 Million Nigerians Pre-Register For Voter Cards, INEC Begins Physical Registration

Over 1.3 million Nigerians have registered online for voter cards within the first week of the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Commission announced on Monday that the online registration process, which began on August 18, 2025, had received 1, 379, 342 applications as of August 24.

The exercise, which will continue until August 30, 2026, was described as encouraging by INEC.

The Commission released a breakdown of the figures, showing that 661, 846 registrants, or&nbsp, 47.96 %, are male, while 717, 856, representing 52.04 %, are female. Young people aged 18 to 34 formed the majority with 860, 286 entries, accounting for 62.37%.

In terms of occupation, according to INEC, 374, 534 registered voters, or 27. 15%, are students, and 27 089 people with disabilities, or 1. 96%, also registered.

In addition, INEC’s 811 state and local government offices nationwide officially rolled out in person on Monday. Citizens who prefer physical registration and those who completed it online can do so thanks to this.

Nigerians were the only ones who had not previously registered, according to INEC, that the exercise is only open to citizens who are at least 18 years old.

It urged caution that filing multiple registrations still constitute a criminal offense.

However, the Commission made it clear that voters could transfer their voter registration between federally recognized states or within the country’s borders and that they could also request that their lost or damaged voter cards be replaced during the exercise.

In order to assure the public that registration will continue for a year, INEC made an appeal to eligible citizens to wait until the exercise’s conclusion. Despite requests for extension of time, the Commission claimed that “from experience, the registration centers are inundated by eleventh-hour registrants.”

Ladislav Krejci, a Girona defender, is on the verge of signing for £26 million from Wolves.

The 26-year-old is scheduled to undergo a medical this week, making him Vitor Pereira’s fifth summer signing.

Krejci, a Czech Republic international, moved to Girona last summer and made 35 appearances overall as they finished 16th in La Liga, surviving only by one point.

After spending five years at the club from the Czech capital, where he won two league titles, he made his debut at Girona from Sparta Prague.

Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias have already been signed by Wolves, along with full-backs Jackson Tchatchoua and David Moller Wolfe.

Wolves rejected a £50 million offer from Newcastle for the striker on Monday, prompting the permanent loan agreement from Celta Vigo to pay $ 23 million.

With the transfer window closing on Monday, they have no intention of selling the forward, and both their current market conditions and current market conditions contribute to their thinking.

The striker, who made 14 Premier League starts on loan last season while playing for Newcastle, has remained a professional and could start on Tuesday against West Ham at Molineux.

Wolves are looking to sign a new striker after losing their opening two Premier League games.

Bottas and Perez to race for Cadillac in 2026

Grand Prix of the Netherlands

Dates: 29-31-Aug, 2018 Start time: 14:00 BST on Sunday

Next year, Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas will compete for the new Cadillac Formula 1 team.

The two drivers, who were both dropped at the end of 2024, are now racing in the F1 grid.

The drivers’ success in F1 victories and podiums was the deciding factor, according to Mark Reuss, president of Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors.

Bottas and Perez’ selection was described as “a really good winning combination.”

Bottas, who turns 36 on Thursday, also recorded 20 pole positions and 10 victories for Mercedes, team-mates with Lewis Hamilton from 2017 to 2018.

The Finn is Mercedes’ reserve driver this year and the last Sauber raced in F1.

The Mexican left Red Bull at the end of last year despite having two more years on his contract because they felt he could no longer provide Max Verstappen with the support he needed.

Before confirming this line-up, CEO of GM’s partner TWG Global, Dan Towriss, said Cadillac had thought about signing a promising and up-and-coming driver.

Towriss remarked, “What we need are their experience, leadership, and technical acumen.” Their confidence in us and this project has humbled us.

It was a difficult choice because there are a young pool of exiting and highly skilled drivers. However, these two drivers’ leadership stood out.

Bottas claimed in a team statement that Cadillac was “ambitious but also grounded”

He continued, “This is a long-term vision, not just a racing project.” Not every day do you get the chance to contribute to something being built from the ground up and making it a true F1 grid item.

“I’ve had the honor of working with some of the world’s best teams, and I can already see this level of professionalism and hunger.”

To be a part of the story as it enters Formula One’s world stage is incredibly special because this is an iconic brand with a significant legacy in American motorsport.

Perez continued, “I could tell the passion and determination behind this project right away from our initial conversations.”

As the team prepares for its debut season, Towriss claimed proven experience and ability in F1 was a more crucial factor than the team’s desire for an American driver in the future.

In June, Cadillac’s team principal Graeme Lowdon stated that they anticipate being “backmarkers” in their debut season.

“Imagine if you’ve been a part of a Formula 1 team for ten years before another team rocks up and defeats you. You’d be apoplectic, Lowdon claimed.

“You would be so enraged,” he said. And so you can safely assume that any new team will be the last one, because otherwise, you can’t tell what’s going on elsewhere.

Colton Herta and Josef Newgarden, both of whom had been linked to Cadillac, were also mentioned by Towriss, who pointed out that Herta had not received enough points on the FIA’s qualification scale to qualify for an F1 super-licence.

He continued, “The experience in F1 that carried the day is what matters.” Everyone on the team is brand-new and working together for the first time, despite their previous experience.
