Prince Harry’s explosive move sparked ‘furious reaction’ from key royal who refused to see him

A new documentary claims that one member of the Royal Family was so angry with the Duke of Sussex that they refused to see him at all when Harry and Meghan dropped a bombshell.

It’s been over five years since Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, announced their intention to step back as full-time working royals – and at the time, their decision sent shockwaves across the UK.

For the couple, things inside the monarchy had become untenable, and something needed to change – but for the rest of the Royal Family, their public announcement that they wanted to adopt a half-in, half-out approach to royal life presented a massive set of issues.

Meghan and Archie had been visiting Canada before their shock announcement, leaving Harry to attend what has been dubbed the Sandringham Summit to discuss their exit on his own.

Experts and commentators from a new Channel Five documentary, Megxit: Inside the Sandringham Summit, examine what actually transpired behind closed doors at the summit and what its long-term effects have been on the monarchy.

One expert revealed that there was allegedly one senior member of the House of Windsor who was left utterly “horrified” by Harry’s decision to step back: his grandfather, Prince Philip. Royal author Andrew Morton claimed in the new documentary, “Prince Philip is someone who doesn’t take fools gladly, and he was horrified that they had come to a situation where the Royal Family were deciding whether to split up or not.”

The late Duke of Edinburgh chose to leave Sandringham and meet with his grandson Harry, according to another expert, who explained how he felt so strongly. Emily Andrews, a journalist, claimed that “Philip was so upset that he wouldn’t even go there.” He claimed to have been unable to bring himself to see his grandson because he thought it was a grave dereliction of duty.

Whilst Prince Philip always demurred to the authority of his wife, the late Queen Elizabeth, when it came to matters of the crown, when it came to private matters, said to be “very much the head of the family “.

Prince Philip had a very close relationship with both Prince Harry and his elder brother Prince William – as well as the rest of his six other grandchildren – and he was called “brilliantly effective” at helping the two brothers when they tragically lost their mother in 1997.

The boys were present when they learned that Diana had passed away, according to author Tina Brown, who noted that Prince Philip, who had effectively lost his own mother at the age of 10 when she was imprisoned for three years in Switzerland, was brilliantly effective with his grandsons, offering them gruff tenderness and outdoor activities like stalking and hiking.

According to the Independent, Prince Philip reportedly reminded those organizing Diana’s funeral that “It’s about the boys, they’ve lost their mother” during the planning process. On the day of the funeral, he also offered to accompany them in the procession, saying, “I’ll walk if you walk.”

However, Prince Philip passed away the year after the Sandringham Summit and Harry’s decision to leave his royal life behind, just one month after the Sussexes sat down with Oprah Winfrey to give their explosive interview outlining their reasons for leaving.

A limited number of people attended Prince Harry’s grandfather’s funeral, which was held in the face of social restraints as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He described his grandfather as the monarch’s longest-serving consort, a decorated soldier, a prince, and a duke in a moving statement. But to me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent due to the agony of the past year, he was my grandpa: the master of barbecue, the legend of banter, and the cheeky “right ’til the end””.

Venue – and touching reason behind choice

Tony previously opened up about his wedding venue, revealing his heartfelt choice of church honours people he knew who sadly died of HIV and AIDS in the ’80s and ’90s.

The DJ and Stavros will wed in a West London church, which Tony said cared for those who had died of AIDS when ‘no-one else would’. He explained: “There’s a church in Earl’s Court,” he explained. “When we died of AIDS, no one else would touch us because they didn’t want to bury us into the ground. We weren’t allowed to be buried.

“We had to be burned. This church was the only place that had love and compassion for our community. I want to get married there because, for me, it’s full circle. It’s for everybody that didn’t make it to that point.”

Gemma Collins and Kate Moss as bridesmaids

Having spun the decks all over the world at some of the glitziest clubs, Tony has amassed a legion of loyal fans, many of whom are celebrities.

Counting Gemma Collins, Kate Moss and Brookside star, Claire Sweeney, among his gal pals, Tony has reportedly chosen the trio to be his bridesmaids.

A source close to the couple told The Sun: “Tony is one of the most popular people on the London celebrity circuit and his wedding is going to be packed full of stars. No one had Kate, Gemma and Claire in a bridal party on their bingo cards this year, though. It’s going to be incredible to see them lining up together.”

Boy George as best man

Tony revealed that Karma Chameleon star, Boy George, will be his best man when he ties the knot today.

Boy George once referred to his pal as the “the pied piper” of the late ’80s and early ’90s rave scene when they were both big hitters in the London club scene.

Explaining he’d given his best pal the honour of being his best man, Tony teased while chatting to Chatting to comedians James Barr and Dan Hudson on the A Gay and A Nongay podcast: “My best man is Boy George. I asked him the other day because he’s one of my oldest friends in life and he’s been through so much with me, and he’s a complete c***.“

Bespoke designer suits

With access to some of the world’s most in-demand fashion designers, it’s no surprise Tony and Stavros will be wearing bespoke suits from an iconic French fashion house.

Revealing that he and Stavros will be sporting bespoke suits rom Dior, Tony said on the podcast: “Dior will be doing the suits.“

There are bound to be plenty more celebrities getting dressed to impress for the nuptials too, as Tony counts those, including David Walliams, Becky Hill, Davina McCall and Lulu to Maya Jama as his pals.

Kylie Minogue singing at reception

After the star-studded ceremony, the celebration will move to an upscale West End hotel, with Aussie icon Kylie Minogue taking the stage.

Revealing the I Should Be So Lucky star will be singing for his guests, Tony confirmed: “Kylie is gonna sing. She already said it. Yeah, believe it or not.“

Hickman being treated for injuries after TT crash

Pacemaker

After colliding with his teammates on Friday evening’s qualifying session for the Isle of Man TT, Peter Hickman is receiving treatment in a hospital for chest, back, shoulder, and facial injuries.

After colliding with his Superstock machine at the Kerrowmoar section of the circuit on the opening lap, Hickman was flown to Noble’s Hospital on the island by Airmed helicopter.

The Lincolnshire racer’s organisers claimed in an update released on Saturday morning that he was “comfortable” and “in good spirits.” He was later described as being “conscious and stable” by the race organisers.

Following the incident, red flags were displayed to halt the qualifying session, and the scheduled schedule was ultimately postponed due to incoming rain.

Hickman, who has a speed of 136.358 mph, is a 14-time TT champion and a 14-time TT champion.

The 38-year-old joined team-mate Davey Todd and the 8TEN Racing team for the 1000cc races, and he also led the other solo races for the PHR Racing team.

Hickman finished third in the Supersport leaderboard and had set the third-fastest time of the week in the Superbike class and second-fastest time in the Superstock category in Friday afternoon’s qualifying.

He regularly competes in Northern Ireland’s North West 200 road races and the British Superbike Championship.

Tom Weeden, a second rider, was also taken to the hospital after colliding during Friday afternoon’s qualifying session.

Hegseth warns of China threat as Beijing’s top brass skip Singapore summit

Singapore: There hasn’t been a single notable absence among the numerous military personnel who have been hurling across the Shangri-La Hotel’s lobby this weekend.

Beijing sent a delegation of lower-ranking representatives in place of China’s defense minister, Dong Jun, who had previously skipped the annual Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia’s top security forum.

China has not sent its defense minister to the high-level dialogue on regional defense for the first time since 2019, aside from when the event was postponed in 2020 and 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Singapore’s concern about Beijing’s decision came at a time when China and the United States, the two biggest superpowers in the world, are atheightened levels.

Due to Dong’s absence, there was no face-to-face interaction with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, his US counterpart, who had the opportunity to speak openly at the defense forum on Saturday about the potential military threat posed by China.

Hegseth told delegates in Singapore that it must be made clear that Beijing is legitimately considering using military force to alter the Indo-Pacific’s power balance.

Hegseth criticized Beijing for its regular military exercises in Taiwan and its increasingly frequent skirmishes in the South China Sea, citing Beijing’s continued support for its neighbors.

There is no justification for embellishing it. Hegseth remarked that the threat China poses is real and could become immediate.

He also cited China’s growing military might as a motivating factor for Asian nations to increase their defense spending, and cited Germany, which has pledged to devote 5% of its gross domestic product (GDP) to defense.

Hegseth said, “It makes no sense for countries in Europe to do that while important allies in Asia spend less on defense in the face of an even greater threat.”

Despite tensions in recent months as US President Donald Trump targeted some close allies with heavy trade tariffs, the defense chief also sought to reassure Asian allies that Washington was committed to Asia Pacific security.

In his opening address, he declared, “America is proud to be back in the Indo-Pacific, and we’re here to stay.”

Some analysts were quick to downplay Hegseth’s warnings about China’s seriousness.

Not many people in this region of the world view China as an imminent threat, according to Dylan Loh, assistant professor in Nanyang Technological University’s public policy and global affairs program in Singapore.

China kept quiet about the defense chief’s absence.

The Shangri-La Dialogue had previously provided a rare opportunity for Chinese and US officials to meet in less formal settings at the summit.

Beijing’s military chiefs were also able to respond directly to the US defense secretary’s opening address and share their story with other members of the Asia-Pacific using the schedule’s structure.

Defense Minister Dong’s absence from the forum has sparked a rumor-filled information void in Beijing, which has remained secret.

A high-profile delegate was not invited to the event at a sensitive time as Beijing and the Trump administration battled tariff disputes, according to one theory.

According to Loh, of Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University, “any faux pas or comments that might go off script can be picked up and picked apart or misinterpreted.”

So the question is, “Why take the risk when US-China relations are in such fragile shape right now,” Loh said.

In September 2024, Dong Jun, the Chinese Defense Minister, attends the Beijing Xiangshan Forum in China.

Chinese defense ministers haven’t always had the simplest of luck attending the Shangri-La Dialogue weekend. They have recently been confronted with challenging questions by Chinese counterparts in other nations, who are unhappy with Beijing’s growing assertiveness in the Asia-Pacific region.

Loh speculated that Dong’s absence from the famous event may be a result of this.

Any Chinese defense minister who visits Singapore right now will put himself and the nation in danger, he said. China will become a convenient target, according to Loh, adding that “the South China Sea and possibly Taiwan will emerge.”

In late 2023, Dong was appointed as China’s defense minister following the resignation of Li Shangfu from office.

Following reports that he was being investigated as part of a wider investigation into corruption in the Chinese military, there was speculation less than a year into the job. Despite the allegations, Beijing continues to hold a public eye on the minister despite the reports.

Following rumors of President Xi Jinping purging of top-level officials, the Chinese military has also been subject to intense scrutiny.

He Weidong, one of Beijing’s most senior generals, was absent from a notable political gathering in April, which bolstered rumors of a possible change in the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

Such speculation, according to Ian Chong, a nonresident scholar at the Carnegie China research center, may contribute to Dong’s absence in Singapore.

According to Chong, “they may not want to, or the PLA feels that it is not in a position to send someone senior,” given the domestic upheaval with China’s senior military.

Chinese military spokesman Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang continued to maintain communication channels between defense officials in Washington and Beijing after revealing Dong’s absence at a press conference prior to the summit.

NBA player Williamson accused of rape in civil lawsuit

Zion Williamson, a player for the New Orleans Pelicans, is facing rape allegations in a Los Angeles court case.

Williamson, 24, is accused of two rapes, both of which occurred in Beverly Hills in 2020, according to court documents.

The accuser is suing damages for false imprisonment, domestic violence, burglary, and stalking.

The alleged abuse is “sexual, physical, emotional, and financial in nature,” according to the lawsuit.

The NBA star’s legal team will demand “significant damages for this defamatory lawsuit,” according to Williamson’s attorneys, who released a statement in which the allegations were “categorically false and reckless.”

According to the legal firm Barrasso-Usdin-Kupperman-Freeman &amp, Sarver, this appears to be an attempt to exploit a professional athlete for financial gain rather than any legitimate grievance.

The organization claims that Williamson had previously reported the complainant to law enforcement for allegedly extorting people.

The woman’s lawyer, Sam Taylor II, who works for the Lanier Law Firm in Los Angeles, stated in a statement to US media that the complaint’s allegations are “very detailed.”
