They’ve been dating for the past two years but recently, Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have found themselves at the centre of split rumours. He was noticeably absent from her entourage last week (September 7) at the MTV VMAs, where she was nominated for seven awards and took home three.

The singer has been embroiled in a controversy after third party retailers have been reselling tickets for her sold-out Eternal Sunshine tour next year with inflated prices, leaving her fans frustrated at the less-than consumer-friendly options to watch her live.

Now Ethan, 33, has shared his thoughts on the drama and seemingly revealed his equation with Ariana, 32, amid the split rumours.

At the premiere of Gen V season two in West Hollywood, he told People : “Ari’s fans are unbelievable and incredible and ferocious in their support of her, and it’s a beautiful thing.

“And I really hope that there are other opportunities to see her perform. It’s really intense, and I’ve been sort of following along, but it’s kind of an amazing thing that so many people want to see her shows, you know? Like what a beautiful thing.”

The couple first met two years ago while filming for Wicked, in which Ariana plays Galinda Upland, eventually becoming Glinda the Good Witch, while Ethan portrays Boq Woodsman, a Munchkin in love with Galinda.

The movie released in November 2024 and went on to become a huge critical and commercial success. The pair attempted to keep their relationship under wraps but as the film geared up for release, it made it harder for them to keep it private as they posed together at red carpet premieres.

The lovebirds will be reuniting on screen for the second part, Wicked: For Good, which releases in cinemas this November. Ariana and Ethan’s relationship didn’t get off to the smoothest start as plenty was said about the timing, as she had just split from ex-husband Dalton Gomez, while he had separated from ex-wife Lilly Jay.

The Break Free singer had tied the knot with real estate agent Dalton in May 2021, but in July 2023, a source confirmed that they had separated earlier in the year, and the couple filed for divorce in September, citing “irreconcilable differences”.

Ethan, meanwhile, married his childhood sweetheart, clinical psychologist Lilly, in 2018 and they welcomed a child together, a baby boy, in 2022. He filed for divorce from Lilly in July, 2023, just one month shy of their son’s first birthday, after news of his romance with Ariana broke.

Neither Ariana nor Ethan have confirmed their relationship timeline but sources at the time said romance only blossomed after both separated from their spouses. “Ariana and Dalton separated in January,” one source told People. “She and Ethan recently began dating, and he is separated from his wife.”

However, Ethan’s estranged wife Lilly spoke to Page Six shortly after her husband filed for divorce and claimed: “[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl.” She added: “My family is just collateral damage. The story is her and Dalton.”

In the months that followed, Ariana and Ethan stepped out for a number of low-key dates – and fans went into overdrive in January 2024 with speculation that Ariana’s new song Yes, And? was in response to negative comments about their relationship. “Your business is yours and mine is mine. Why do you care so much whose d**k I ride?”, she sang.

Another song, Imperfect for You, is also thought to be about Ethan. “She’s such an amazing performer, and I think everyone knows how good she is [as] a recording artist and all that — but I’m just really blown away by the songwriting,” he said months later about the single. “I love that song.”

Charlize Theron’s car was stolen from her LA home as she was the latest target in the recent celebrity crime spree. The 50-year-old’s property is said to have been accessed through an open gate last Thursday.

An individual made their way onto the Oscar winner’s home before going on to steal a BMW – in which the key fob is reported to have been left inside the vehicle.

However, the Los Angeles Police Department were able to track down the vehicle and return it to its rightful owner. Charlize is just one celebrity who has been affected by the increasing crime in Los Angeles in recent months.

Tracee Ellis Ross and Brad Pitt were also recent victims. Earlier on this month, Tracee Ellis Ross’ home was broken into in Hollywood.

Thieves stole more than $100,000 (£73,762) worth of jewellery and handbags from the home in total. The actress’ LA house was broken into on Tuesday September 2 but she was not home at the time of the crime.

The crime was reported around 12:30am local time after staff arrived and found the home had been ransacked. LAPD said that three people entered the property through a glass door.

August saw singer Lionel Richie’s home broken into. It has been said that the music legend was still in the property when the criminal entered.

Police received a call about a burglary at the 76-year-old’s home in Beverly Hills shortly after midnight. However, the home was equipped with a security alarm that meant the burglar reportedly fled before they had a chance to steel any valuables.

Police responding to the call reportedly arrested a man named Michael John Bond on suspicion of residential burglary, according to TMZ. However, formal charges have not yet been filed.

Another high-profile break-in took place at the home of Brad Pitt in Los Angeles’ Los Feliz neighbourhood in June. Burglars targeted the actor when he was away from home and was on a trip to Japan to promote his racing drama F1.

Police announced that three people have been arrested that were suspected of burgling the actor’s house. It was said that the three of them were also linked to another crime as well which is what led to their capture.

Detectives were reportedly able to use security footage taken from Pitt’s property to help identify the men. In February Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban were also among the long list of A-listers who have been impacted by crime.

The couple’s Beverly Hills mansion was broken into while they were out of town. An intruder reportedly smashed a window to get in but an employee of the couple was on the property at the time and was able to scare away the burglar.

The Mirror contacted the Los Angeles Police Department and Charlize Theron’s reps for comment.

Israel intensifies Gaza strikes, issues threat to residents to move south

The Israeli army is intensifying its military operations in Gaza City, threatening Palestinians to evacuate southwards as attacks accelerate.

According to an army post on X, more than 250,000 people have reportedly fled the city. The military is urging remaining residents to travel via al-Rashid Street towards al-Mawasi or camps in central Gaza.

However, Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud said, “Despite intense bombardment in Gaza City, many residents have stayed put – or returned after seeking shelter elsewhere – because many of Israel’s designated evacuation zones are desperately overcrowded and under-resourced, including lacking proper water access.”

The United Nations estimates from late August indicated approximately one million Palestinians were living in and around Gaza’s largest urban centre, where famine conditions are taking hold after months of deteriorating circumstances.

The UN and international community have called on Israel to abandon its plans to capture the city, warning that such an assault could worsen the humanitarian crisis.

Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee claimed on Saturday on X: “More than a quarter of a million residents of Gaza City have moved out of the city for their own safety.” Gaza’s Civil Defence agency contradicted this figure, reporting fewer than 70,000 people had managed to leave.

The Israeli military dropped leaflets Saturday, warning western district residents to evacuate amid continuous air raids. “The Israeli army is operating with very intense force in your area and is determined to dismantle and defeat Hamas,” the leaflets stated. “You have been warned.”

Mohammad Abu Salmiya, head of the al-Shifa Hospital, told the AFP news agency that while displacement continues within Gaza City, “only a small number of people have been able to reach the south”. He added that those who do flee south often find nowhere to stay, as “the al-Mawasi area is completely full and Deir el-Balah is also overcrowded”, causing many to return to Gaza City.

Civil Defence spokesman Mahmoud Basal told AFP, “The actual number of displaced people from Gaza to the south is approximately 68,000 only. Many residents are still holding their ground, and many others cannot find space in the south.”

Terence Crawford is among the “boxing gods” after his masterclass against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in Las Vegas, says former world champion Tony Bellew.

Crawford, 37, moved up two weight classes to dethrone the undisputed super-middleweight champion by unanimous decision in Las Vegas.

The American is the first male boxer to become undisputed champion in three weight classes in the modern era.

He extended his undefeated record to 42 fights and his consecutive world title run to 20.

“When they first mentioned this fight I was laughed at for picking him.

“People want to say he’s boring! Nothing boring about pure boxing and perfection.

“Game plan was on point and Bud was exceptional.”

Crawford thanked his supporters and his haters in his post-fight speech after going up against the “face of boxing” in Alvarez.

WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson and Britain’s former European middleweight champion Hamzah Sheeraz described Crawford as one of the greatest boxers in history.

‘Canelo overrated’ – Paul reacts to defeat

Mexican Alvarez, 35, has won world titles in four different weight classes but faces an uncertain future after his third defeat in 68 fights since making his debut as a 15-year-old.

Undisputed light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol, one of the three boxers to beat Alvarez, described him and Crawford as “legendary fighters”.

But Jake Paul, YouTuber turned boxer, said: “Canelo putting his hand up like he won. Canelo been overrated.”

Stevenson, who was ringside to support Crawford, said: “It’s a lot of soft fighters in the sport who are scared to fight against other great fighters.

Prince Harry’s reunion with Charles poses ‘fresh Meghan dilemma after King’s wish’

With King Charles and Prince Harry seemingly taking their first steps to reconciliation after their long-awaited reunion, Jennie Bond reveals what it might mean for Harry’s wife Meghan

Harry and Meghan with King Charles

With King Charles and Prince Harry finally having a face-to-face meeting after months of speculation – attention has turned to what will happen next.

The Duke of Sussex reunited with the King for the first time in 19 months, revealing his father was “great” shortly after their private tea at Clarence House. Harry spent 55 minutes at the London residence, with hopes growing that it will mark a turn in relations between father and son, after Harry claimed his father was not speaking to him.

The rift, exacerbated by Harry and wife Meghan railing against the royals in their Netflix documentary and Harry’s book, Spare, means that Charles has barely seen his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Six-year-old Archie has only seen his grandfather a handful of times, while four-year-old Lilibet has only met him once, three years ago.

And according to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, the big question is will Harry bring his children to see his UK-based relatives.

She told the Mirror: “I’m sure it’s something that Charles would love, and Harry wants them to know and understand their heritage. But how can he square it with his complaints about the UK being unsafe unless he has full protection?”

One of the stumbling blocks that has prevent Harry from bringing his whole family to the UK in recent years is a change to his security arrangements while here.

In May, he lost his appeal over the dismissal of his High Court claim against the Home Office for the decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) that he should receive a different degree of protection when in the UK.

After the defeat of his Court of Appeal challenge, he told the BBC that he “can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK” as they would not automatically be entitled to police protection.

Harry’s level of security changed in 2020 when he and Meghan stepped down as working royals and moved to California for financial and personal freedom.

But Jennie added: “An invitation to stay at a royal residence would solve it. But would that work? And would Meghan be welcome? Would she want to come? I rather doubt it. She’s happy doing her ‘thing’ in the States.

“Harry’s relationship with Charles has been scarred, deeply scarred, by all of this. But now they have stated talking again, it makes you think: was it all really necessary?”
