Thousands are being forced to go back to Afghanistan as Tehran tightens controls on immigration.
For decades, tens of thousands of Afghans – who have fled war and poverty and sought a better future – have crossed into neighbouring Iran.
Tehran has largely been lenient towards members of this community. But in recent years, Iranians seem to have grown tired of hosting them – and sentiment towards foreign nationals has hardened.
The Iranian government has responded by expelling undocumented people. Those being forced out have no choice but to return to the country they escaped from.
While the Taliban government is welcoming returning Afghans, what kind of life awaits them, and what can the international community do to help?

Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic could potentially meet in a blockbuster semi-final at Wimbledon but there is work for both to do before then – starting with their respective fourth-round matches on Monday.
World number one Sinner and sixth seed Djokovic have arguably been the two most impressive players in the men’s draw so far.
Italian Sinner has won three Grand Slams but is yet to reach a Wimbledon final, while Serb Djokovic is aiming to equal Roger Federer’s tally of eight titles at SW19.
Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva and Poland’s Iga Swiatek, seeded seventh and eighth respectively, are the highest-ranked players remaining in the bottom half of the women’s draw.

Djokovic, 38, overcame illness to win his first-round match in four sets but breezed through rounds two and three.
Saturday’s masterful victory over fellow Serb Miomir Kecmanovic was his 100th match win at Wimbledon. He is the third player to reach that landmark, following Martina Navratilova (120) and Federer (105).
Sinner, 23, has found things even more comfortable so far, winning his first three matches without dropping a set and spending less than five and a half hours on court.
But both title contenders will come up against a seeded player for the first time in this tournament on Monday.
Djokovic is first on Centre Court against world number 11 Alex de Minaur of Australia (13:30 BST), with Sinner rounding things off on Centre against Bulgaria’s former Wimbledon semi-finalist Grigor Dimitrov.
Clara Tauson of Denmark defeated 2022 champion Elena Rybakina in the third round and the 23rd seed’s reward is a meeting with five-time Grand Slam champion Swiatek, which is third on Court One.
Swiatek has reached only one previous quarter-final at SW19 but has shown signs of improvement on the grass, reaching the final at Bad Homburg prior to Wimbledon.
Monday’s first contest on Court One sees Russian 18th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova take on former Olympic gold medallist Belinda Bencic of Switzerland, before American men’s 10th seed Ben Shelton faces unseeded Italian Lorenzo Sonego.

Cameron Norrie, the sole British quarter-finalist in the men’s and women’s singles, has a well-earned day off after his five-set win over Nicolas Jarry on Sunday.
Therefore, home interest on Monday is focused on the doubles and junior events.
The bottom half of the men’s doubles is stacked with British players and quarter-final spots are on offer for fifth seeds Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool and sixth seeds Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski, as well as second seeds Henry Patten and his Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara.
Meanwhile, the mixed doubles has already reached the quarter-final stage.
British pair Joshua Paris and Eden Silva are there, while Salisbury – alongside Brazilian Luisa Stefani – and Skupski – who is playing with American Desirae Krawczyk – are also in the hunt for semi-final places.
Among the Britons in action in the girls’ singles are Mimi Xu and second seed Hannah Klugman, who lost in the French Open final last month.

Liam and Noel Gallagher’s children, Gene and Anais, were spotted belting out the lyrics to Oasis songs in a sweet moment shared online. The Gallagher brothers finally reunited after 16 years of feuding and performed their first two nights of their reunion tour at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium this weekend.
Their friends and family members, including Liam’s son Gene and Noel’s daughter Anais, were among the 70,000 fans attending the gigs each night.
While Oasis were performing Cigarettes & Alcohol, Gene and Anais went all out as they danced and sang along to the popular track. In a moment filmed for the camera, the two leaned towards each other as they screamed out the chorus.

Australia 286 & 243: Smith 71, Green 52; S Joseph 4-66
West Indies 253 & 143: Starc 3-24, Lyon 3-42
Australia clinched a series win over West Indies with a resounding victory in the second Test in Grenada.
After setting the home side 277 to win on a difficult pitch, the tourists ripped through the West Indies batters in 34. 3 overs to take an unassailable 2-0 series lead.
Having wrapped up the first Test inside three days in Barbados with a 159-run victory, Australia enjoyed a similar winning margin on day four in Grenada, by 133 runs.
They can complete a series clean sweep when the two sides meet in Jamaica next week.
Day four started with Shamar Joseph (4-66) and namesake Alzarri Joseph (2-52) cleaning up the Australia tail inside 45 minutes.
But on a pitch offering the bowlers plenty, chasing 277 for victory was always going to be a daunting task for West Indies.
And so it proved once John Campbell fell leg before for a duck in the second over off the bowling of Josh Hazlewood (2-33).
Mitchell Starc had Keacy Carty caught for 10 for the first of his three wickets, while opener Kraigg Brathwaite was also caught off the bowling of Beau Webster for seven to leave West Indies 29-3.
The home side were then four down at lunch as Pat Cummins dismissed Brandon King for 14.
Shai Hope (34) and captain Roston Chase (17) provided some resistance in the afternoon session before both fell to Hazlewood and Starc respectively.
Starc then dismissed Justin Greaves for two before brief fireworks from Shamar Joseph (24) and Alzarri Joseph (13) – hitting five sixes between them – were brought to an end by Nathan Lyon’s spin.
Lyon then removed Jayden Seales to wrap up the win and end with figures of 3-42.
It also leaves him on 562 Test wickets – just one behind Glenn McGrath’s 563 and second on the list of Australia’s all-time Test wicket-takers.
The late, great Shane Warne remains out in front with 708 Test wickets.
“The wickets have been challenging in this series so far but they have also been a lot of fun to play on because Test cricket can be a grind,” said Australia’s Alex Carey, who was named man of the match.
“It was always a challenging task but you have to believe,” West Indies skipper Chase said.
Presidential hopeful Peter Obi says being Nigerian president is a responsibility that should engender compassion and not nonchalance.
Obi, who was a guest on Sunday Politics programme, believes that a president should be ready to pay the supreme price if his or her people are dying.
“If I become president, I will use resources effectively. I cannot say: ‘buy a new jet’,” Obi said whilst accusing the Bola Tinubu administration of being unfeeling to the plight of the people.

“I don’t need one because I can go anywhere without a jet. I will not use ₦150bn to buy a jet when 80% of primary healthcare centres are not functioning.
“I was a governor, and for my first four years, I drove 406. For the rest of it, I didn’t drive bulletproof cars. Nobody will try to kill you if you do the right thing. It is when you do the wrong thing that you fear death.
“If your people are dying, you should be ready to die. The president should also be ready to die,” he said.
