Delacroix heads runners for Derby at Epsom

Betfred Derby 2025

Epsom Racecourse Location: Saturday, June 7th, 2015 30 BST

As a field of 19 was designated for the Saturday Derby at Epsom, Delacroix and Ruling Court lead the way.

Delacroix, along with The Lion In Winter and Lambourn, is a potential contender for Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien’s record-breaking 11th Classic victory.

The O’Brien-trained Puppet Master was the only one who was withdrawn from Wednesday’s final declaration stage.

Godolphin trainer Charlie Appleby will compete to win the Derby for the first time since Camelot in 2012 in the form of Ruling Court.

Ralph Beckett, who also owns Stanhope Gardens, has two entries for the Dante Stakes, while John and Thady Gosden manage York’s runner-up Damysus and the fifth-placed Nightwalker.

Declarations were delayed one day to allow for a quicker build-up for the race, which is only for three-year-old horses, so they closed at the 72-hour stage for the first time this year.

Approximate Derby odds: 5-2 Delacroix, 7-2 Ruling Court, 5-1 Pride Of Arras, 6-1 The Lion In Winter, 12-1 Damysus, 14-1 Lambourn, Midak, 16-1 Stanhope Gardens, 20-1 Bar.

After winning two Derby matches at Leopardstown, Delacroix was declared the ante-post favorite, but it’s not yet known if stable jockey Ryan Moore will ride.

The Lion In Winter, who was odds-on favorite in the Dante, is expected to improve for that run, according to Moore.

After winning the 1000 Guineas with Desert Flower, who is the favorite for the Oaks on Friday, William Buick will work with Ruling Court as the jockey and trainer Appleby seeks further Classic success.

Saeed bin Suroor, a fellow Godolphin trainer, is the representative of Tornado Alert, who finished fourth in the 2000 Guineas.

Owners Juddmonte and Nightwalker have added French rival New Ground for a $ 75, 000 supplementary fee.

The Aga Khan IV, who owned legendary Derby winner Shergar before passing away in February, will also be represented in the race, who trained Midak, who will carry the Aga Khan Studs’ colors.

Al Wasl Storm, Nightime Dancer, Rogue Impact, Sea Scout, Tennessee Stud, and Tuscan Hills complete the field for Charlie Johnston on a two-man basis with Lazy Griff and Green Storm.

‘I know King Charles – I can only imagine his pain on Princess Lilibet’s birthday’

Princess Lilibet, the youngest child of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, turns four today, according to one royal expert, who says it is a painful reminder for King Charles as the Sussexes continue to be at odds with the royals.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have cause for celebration as their youngest child Princess Lilibet turns four. The youngest of King Charles’ grandchildren will be celebrating the special day in California today alongside her parents as well as big brother Prince Archie, who turned six last month.

The children are said to be at the centre of the Sussexes’ world with an insider describing their Montecito home as a ‘happy bubble’. And with Meghan showing off her hosting skills in her recent Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, a carefully planned party is no doubt on the cards for her daughter.

However, Lilibet’s grandfather, the King, will miss out on any celebration. Harry dropped a bombshell last month when he revealed that his father no longer communicates with him after winning a court case involving his security arrangements while he was a UK resident.

The emotional encounter occurred three years ago when Harry and Meghan brought their children to the UK for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations because Lilibet is only known to have met her grandfather once.

And former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond believes the fact that the King will probably not see Lilibet for her birthday is “incredibly sad”. She told the Mirror : “Her birthday is mid-week, so I assume it will be a school day for Lilibet, but I’m sure there’ll be time for a tea party or celebration of some kind.

Meghan puts a lot of effort and care into making the day extremely magical for her little girl, and I believe kids’ birthdays are always fun.

“I’m confident that everything will be perfect. I’ve just celebrated Charles’ fourth birthday by celebrating all the joy, laughter, love, and fun that go along with it. These are events and years that are unrelived, and they are forever gone afterward. It’s very depressing.

Meanwhile, Lilibet’s birthday comes as she features more and more on mum Meghan’s Instagram account. Both Harry and Meghan have carefully guarded their children’s privacy – and even shots shown on social media are curated to make sure they don’t show either Archie or Lilibet’s full faces.

Jennie continued, “I suppose Meghan is promoting the children on Instagram because she is aware that the general public wants to see their pictures.” However, she is being very coy about giving us a glimpse of what they actually look like.

You could argue that there is a fine line between using them to promote her Instagram account and her desire to keep their family life private, but that’s fair enough if she wants to keep their privacy.

She and Harry will obviously have a little more time to pursue their various interests because both of their children are currently students. I believe both of them will continue to put their families first, just like William and Catherine, but Meghan seems to be expanding her projects. And if you have the opportunity to do so, there is no harm in doing that.

Lilibet, the King’s youngest grandchild, was born on June 4, 2021, in California. She was named Lilibet Diana, paying tribute to her great-grandmother, the late Queen, and her grandmother, Princess Diana. She is seventh in line to the throne and unlike her older brother Archie has never lived in the UK – only visiting once.

Amanda Holden praises ‘beautifully soft’ co-ord that’s ‘super flattering’ and doesn’t crease

The Karen Millen co-ord from the Britain’s Got Talent judge is ideal for summer and is currently available for 20% off.

Buttermilk yellow has been the reigning shade of the spring season, but Amanda Holden has just debuted an eye-catching outfit in a hue that could take its crown as the weather warms up. The Heart FM radio presenter turned up to the office on Tuesday wearing a mango coloured co-ord from a popular high street brand – and it’s currently on sale.

The 54-year-old declared ‘the future is orange’ as she heaped praise on her Karen Millen set. She wore the retailer’s Premium Linen Wide Leg Tailored Trouser and matching Premium Linen Structured Pleated Tailored Bandeau Top for a showstopping ensemble, both of which are now 20% off.

Amanda adored the “delectably soft” set after sharing it with her 2.5 million Instagram followers. It’s the ideal choice for the warmer weather because it’s made of 11% cotton and 13% linen.

Originally £139 but down to £111.20, the tailored trousers boast a high-waisted design that creates a lengthening effect, while the wide leg offers a dramatic silhouette. While bold, they’re surprisingly versatile, with Karen Millen recommending them as an option for summer weddings or race day events.

Meanwhile, the top creates a sculpted look that ‘flatters the figure’. The strapless design makes it particularly suitable for summer and garden parties with the neckline being perfect for showcasing necklaces.

Amanda added: “It’s a lovely asymmetric boob tube affair thing which is super flattering you just might have to adjust the creases to make it all fit nicely.” However, it’s worth noting that it’s quite low in stock in certain sizes, but it is also available at Debenhams.

Further cementing mango as a shade to invest in, PrettyLittleThing has a range of options on their website, with some more purse-friendly price points, too. Meanwhile, Nobody’s Child has also tapped into the trend, with their Orange Broderie Anglaise Starlight Midi Dress being a great alternative at £110.

One thing that really impressed Amanda about the Karen Millen co-ord, though, was the crease resistant fabric that requires little ironing. She commented: “I thought oh, if I’m going to sit down all day it’s going to crease up and look awful by the time I leave but look it’s absolutely fine.”

One thing I always love about co-ords is how you can wear them at least three ways. The top would look gorgeous with a pair of light blue denim jeans with a pair of heels for cocktails or brunch, while the trousers lend themselves to a plain white t-shirt and trainers for a more casual look, meaning shoppers can get more wear out of them, be it on holiday or at the office.

Olympic bronze medallist Richardson eyes more history as pro

As Lewis Richardson prepares to make his professional debut on Saturday in Ipswich, he hopes to add more history to Colchester.

The 27-year-old won bronze at the Paris Olympics, becoming the first Colchester native to bring home an Olympic medal. He was the only Briton to do so after winning the only other medal at the event.

On the day of Fabio Wardley vs. Justis Huni, he will make his professional debut against Dmitri Protkunas.

“We want to be a world champion for the long term. I think I can accomplish that. According to my coach Dennis (Mullan), he claimed to be Colchester’s first amateur national champion.

“I believe I’m correct to expect me to be their first world champion,” he said.

Richardson carefully selected his next steps before choosing a promoter.

Richardson did not sign with Queensberry Promotions until May, despite the fact that Delicious Orie and other Olympians had already made their professional debuts.

He will take on middleweight opponents, and he believes that the paid positions will “provide me with a great opportunity to express myself while also serving as a role model for the younger competitors.”

Richardson has had the same local sponsor since he was 17 and is a well-known face at League Two Colchester United.

“I paused,” I said. Many people were asking me why I was taking so long, I am aware of. The madness is fueled by a method. Richardson said, “I wanted a strong team to support me.”

“I’m very proud to be from Colchester and Essex. Although my family has a traditional council estate, this only highlights the power of sport.

Donald Trump’s 50% steel and aluminium tariffs take effect

Trump has increased tariffs on imported steel and aluminum in a move that has heightened trade tensions with important allies.

The new rates, which went into effect early on Wednesday, increase duties from 25% to 50%. Trump claims that the measure is intended to support the US metals industry, which is in decline.

We initially planned at age 25, but realized that it was important, but more assistance was required as we continued to study the data. At a Tuesday event for the steel industry in Washington, White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett explained that the 50-percent tariff will start tomorrow.

The United Kingdom, which has a 90-day pause on broader tariffs, has reached a provisional trade agreement with the United Kingdom, which is excluded from the executive order.

Up until at least July 9, British exports will be subject to a 25% rate.

Allies seek exceptions.

Two of the US’s closest economic allies and the biggest steel suppliers, Canada and Mexico, are expected to suffer a lot from the increase. According to Census Bureau data, Canada exports more aluminum to the US than the nation’s top ten neighbors combined. Importation accounts for almost half of the US’s aluminum consumption.

The office of Canada’s prime minister, Mark Carney, confirmed that “intensive and active negotiations” were taking place to remove the tariffs.

The imbalance in the two countries’ steel trade was highlighted by Mexico’s Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard, who criticized the decision as unreasonable.

He claimed that Mexico would request an exemption and that it makes no sense for the US to impose a tariff on a product with a surplus.

The European Union criticized the decision, saying it “strongly regrets” it and that it may take retaliation, accusing Washington of thwarting attempts at a settlement.

The US will bear the brunt of the effects, according to OECD chief economist Alvaro Pereira, who previously told the AFP news agency. The tariffs have already slowed global trade, investment, and consumption.

Dave Mason forced to cancel tour as rock legend battles ‘challenging’ health issue

All of Dave Mason’s UK shows have been canceled. The musician, who was one of the founding members of the 1960s rock band Traffic, stated in June that he was still battling a condition he had initially contracted in March.

He had previously delayed his tour until 2024 because he had a serious heart condition that only became apparent when he went for a routine medical checkup. After changing his concerts, Dave was scheduled to return to the stage this summer.

The former Fleetwood Mac member who left the group in 1995 has since confirmed on social media that all of his upcoming tour dates have been canceled due to ill health.

Due to ongoing health issues brought on by the infection I contracted in March, I regret to cancel all tour dates for 2025. My doctors and I are incredibly appreciative because this has been difficult territory to say the least.

“A heartfelt thank you to all the fans who have patiently and faithfully waited on me throughout this journey, as well as to my family, band, agents, and venues. More than words can express how much I’ve been uplifted by your kind words. Recovery takes a long time. I have a deep love for you all.

A fourth phrase followed that recovery takes time. But here’s to seeing you exit the other side, ready to go, and “feeling alright!” You have this, Dave, and God bless you, I love you.

Another continued, “I’m so sorry to hear this. We are all wishing for a full recovery. Please take good care of yourself, and all of your fans are anticipating seeing you back in the future.
