NAF Air Strikes Neutralise Several Terrorists In Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its air strikes has a major blow to insurgent network in Nigeria’s North-East, neutralising key terrorists nestled in the Mandara Mountains, located in Borno State.

In a statement on Monday, NAF spokesman Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the air force launched precision air strikes on July 6, 2025 against key terrorist strongholds.

According to him, the high-profile targets, Wa Jahode and Loghpere, have long served as fortified enclaves for the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram.

“The locations, known for their rugged, mountain-covered terrain along Nigeria’s border with Cameroon, had recently witnessed increased terrorist activity, including reports of a logistics build-up and the presence of senior JAS Commanders.

” The strikes followed confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance missions revealing clusters of structures fitted with solar panels, black flags, and fortified compounds, clear signs of insurgent resurgence and preparations for coordinated attacks.

“In response, NAF strike aircraft executed a series of well-coordinated air interdictions, targeting and destroying high-value terrorist infrastructure including logistics warehouses, command centres, and defensive shelters.

” Several terrorists were neutralised in the operation, effectively disrupting their supply chain and diminishing their capability to sustain further offensives, “the statement read in part.

Mbah said the accomplishments were in line with his administration’s strategy to make Enugu a top tourist destination in Nigeria for investment, living, and tourism, as he said at the launch.

He emphasized that Enugu Air was more than just an airline; it was a bold move toward fostering enterprise and reshaping previously unexplored areas.

No empty promises were made when we began this journey. When we first took office, we made the commitment to make Enugu the top destination for both investment and living in Nigeria. The governor noted that there is a clear path to that goal as of right now.

According to Mbah, Enugu Air’s launch also tapped the potential for strategic public-private partnerships to develop.

He continued, “We are opening doors to a sector that once seemed out of reach” with our airline. We take our first flight together today because Ubuntu Air has given our dreams more wings.

Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation and aerospace development, clarified that the Enugu airport’s future was being made available to private investors during his speech at the ceremony.

“No, we are selling Enugu airport out,” I’ve heard. We’re making concessions. The process is supported by the National Assembly committees, the Ministry of Aviation, and FAAN, Mr. President.

He said, “We are just in the process of handing Enugu airport to private investors who will come and open this place, including the cargo terminal.”

Keyamo predicts that the cargo terminal will significantly increase regional economic activity.

“You can now process exports directly from Enugu to benefit the Enugu people and their jobs,” the cargo terminal said. I felt the need to mention it right now.

NBA Demands Justice Over Killing Of Port Harcourt Lawyer

The alleged murder of Bright Nda Owhor, one of its members, was condemned by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) on July 5, 2025 in Port Harcourt, the state capital of the river.

In a statement released on Sunday via his official X handle, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, SAN, SAN, SAN, SAN, SAN, cried out for immediate justice for the tragic incident, calling it “senseless and brutal.”

A promising young attorney’s life was ruined in a most pointless and brutal way by Bright Nda Owhor. His sudden passing is both a heartbreaking loss for his family and his coworkers and a stark reminder of the deepening insecurity that pervades our society, according to Osigwe.

This obscene act is completely condemned by the NBA. No society that claims to be free of impunity and unchecked violence can tolerate these killings. According to him, “the most fundamental of all rights is the right to life, and any violation of that right in such a cruel way is unacceptable under any circumstances.”

The NBA demanded accountability by urging the Police Inspector-General, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, and all relevant security organizations to conduct an immediate investigation into Owhor’s death.

We demand that the perpetrators be located, tracked down, and tried to prosecute as many people as possible. Justice must be done quickly, not only through observation, but also through observation,” Osigwe said.

The NBA cautioned that legal professionals cannot continue to serve society when there is a risk of violence and death, as well as raising concerns about the country’s rising insecurity.

The NBA president urged the relevant authorities to take immediate action to combat the rising tide of insecurity, which affects both citizens and legal professionals nationwide.

The organization, which is committed to closely monitoring the case until justice is served, extended condolences to the deceased’s family, the NBA’s Port Harcourt branch, and the entire legal system.

FG Running Nigeria’s Airports At A Loss Without Private Investors — Keyamo

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has revealed that Nigerian airports are operated at a financial loss without private sector involvement, stressing that the Federal Government could no longer sustain them profitably.

Keyamo, who spoke at the launch of Enugu State’s indigenous airline, Enugu Air, on Monday, said, “There is no government that can run airports again in Nigeria for profit.

“We are running the airports at a loss because we don’t have the drive of the private sector. I’m saying it openly, and I have no apologies.”

The minister addressed public concerns over the fate of the Enugu airport, clarifying that the facility was not being sold but concessioned to private investors.

“I have seen some comments saying, ‘No, we are selling Enugu airport out.’ We are concessioning it. The process is supported by Mr. President, by FAAN, by the Ministry of Aviation, and by the National Assembly committees.

“We are just in the process of handing Enugu airport to private investors who will come and make this place open, including the cargo terminal,” he said.

According to Keyamo, the cargo terminal will significantly boost economic activities in the region.

“You can now process exports directly from Enugu here—the cargo terminal—for the good and employment of Enugu people. I thought it was necessary to mention it here today.”

He praised Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for his proactive efforts in attracting private investments to the airport, noting that the governor refused to wait on bureaucracy to drive progress.

“The governor came to me and said, ‘I want to attract private sector investments into Enugu airport. I will not wait for bureaucracy to run this airport for me; the pace of development is too slow.’ I said, ‘Wait, finish the airline.’

“He said, ‘No, I’m not finishing it. I want the private sector to take over this airport and run it for the good people of Enugu State,’” the minister stated.

Keyamo said that shortly after, several top-tier private firms, with expertise in airport management, made proposals.

“Before we said Jack, private individuals—very big companies, some of the best in terms of airport management—came together. And as I speak to you, in the next few months and few years, Enugu airport will not be what you see here today. The private sector is coming into Enugu airport, driven by the governor.”

On the airline launch, the minister further revealed that Governor Mbah was equally determined to bring Enugu Air to life.
