Fiona Phillips shares true feelings on Eamonn Holmes as she admits ‘hating’ one thing

Eamonn Holmes’ former ITV co-star made her true feelings clear about the GB News host, as she reflected on their time together as ITV co-stars 20 years on

Fiona Phillips and Eamonn Holmes worked together for almost a decade

Eamonn Holmes’ former GMTV co-host, Fiona Phillips, has claimed he “[wasn’t] always the easiest person to work with”. The duo presented the ITV morning programme GMTV together for nearly a decade, from 1996 until Eamonn’s departure in April 2005.

Upon his exit, he released a statement which read: “What a privilege it has been to wake up the nation over the years with stories that affected all our lives. I’ve covered every type of story imaginable at GMTV and it’s the right time to move on.

“I’ll particularly miss my partnership with Fiona Phillips and I wish her and all the rest of the team the very best for the future.”

In her own farewell message, Fiona humorously noted that she had spent more time with Eamonn than her own husband Martin Frizell, adding: “This is our ninth year together. I will miss him more than words can say.”

Now two decades after his departure, the 66-year-old has made her true feelings clear.

Writing for The Mail on Sunday alongside her husband Martin, Fiona claimed that Eamonn left the show because he felt it had become too “celebrity-obsessed”.

“He was a good journalist but not always the easiest person to work with,” she further commented.

After his exit, Fiona said it “felt like a new opportunity” for her, having previously felt sidelined as his co-host.

“For years, if there was a big interview to be done with a politician, Eamonn would lead the conversation and I was supposed to chip in with a few questions near the end – and I hated that,” she confessed.

The mum-of-two revealed that she also later found out that Eamonn was paid “significantly more” than her.

“It seems incredible that well into this century, no one had batted an eyelid at a man being paid more than a woman for doing exactly the same job,” she added.

After stepping away from GMTV, Eamonn went on to join Sky News, presenting the revamped Sunrise show.

His work on screen has also included co-hosting ITV’s This Morning and more recently, GB News’ Breakfast Show with Ellie Costello.

As for Fiona, with the help of Martin, she remains focused on her writing career, which has included the release of her new book Remember When: My Life with Alzheimer’s.

The presenter was diagnosed with the disease in 2022, which she initially confused with menopausal symptoms.

After going public with her diagnosis, Eamonn honoured his “dear friend” in a touching statement on-air.

Sting forced to cancel concert after ‘dangerous’ safety concerns

Due to “dangerous” issues that were exposed, Sting was forced to reschedule a performance. The musician stated to fans that he had no choice but to pull the concert because his safety is important to him.

In order to perform on his Sting 3.0 tour, he was scheduled to visit the park in Bassano del Grappa, a city in North East Italy, but unfortunate weather has since broken out and led to a severe thunderstorm warning. Heavy thunderstorms are anticipated to start at 4 p.m. on Monday through until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, before resuming at 3 p.m.

The musician explained to his online fans in a heartfelt update why he couldn’t continue with the show. The singer remarked, “Bassano del Grappa wisely stated that the performance would have been too risky due to the possibility of lightning and extremely high winds last night.

My audience, band, and crew are all in need of absolute safety. We’ll be back as soon as possible, I promise.

Nicola Peltz ‘reaches out’ to Beckhams as she dons David’s football shorts

Has Nicola Peltz sent a message back to the Beckhams in Britain? She was wearing something significant as she posed up a storm with a selfie on her family yacht this weekend

Fans have been left wondering if Nicola Peltz has finally reached out to the Beckhams after donning a pair of Brooklyn’s dad David’s football shorts.

Speculation of tension between Victoria and David and their son and his wife was initially sparked by an incident over a wedding dress and, three years on, LA-based Brooklyn and his wife have now reportedly cut contact altogether. But there has been a subtle hint dropped that Nicola could be open to patching things up.

Brooklyn did not attend any of David’s celebrations and failed to mark his long awaited knighthood or Father’s Day. He is expected to be a no-show for sister Harper’s 14th birthday this week as he and his wife continue to celebrate her father’s 83rd celebrations in America.

But has she sent a message back to Britain? The model donned the England football shorts from the 90s as she took a selfie on the family yacht as she paid tribute to her family. Then, she showed her followers her Pop Mart dolls lined up in a row, and she wrote: “our little family”, with a telling second snap, which she captioned: “My mom just gets it.”

Talk of tensions between Brooklyn and his partner with his mum and dad started in 2022 around the time of Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding – and until now there have been no signs of it ending any time soon. Brooklyn, 26, is still celebrating the birthday of Nicola’s billionaire dad, who she called “most loving father”, just a few weeks after missing his own dad’s star-studded 50th bash in the UK.

It is unlikely the couple will end their UK exile on Thursday for Harper’s big day with Brooklyn expected to be missing from the celebrations once again. Our source said that while the family fallout is mainly between Brooklyn and his parents, his younger siblings – including birthday girl Harper – have sadly become collateral damage.

“Harper’s been particularly affected by what’s going on because she’s always been really close to Brooklyn,” claimed the source. “They’ve always had a lovely bond because Brooklyn was that bit older when Harper was born and the hope when Brooklyn married Nicola was that she’d become like a big sister to Harper in a house full of brothers.

“But obviously that hasn’t happened and it’s potentially going to be heartbreaking for Harper if Brooklyn doesn’t show up for her on her birthday.” As Brooklyn and his model and actress wife celebrated financier Nelson Peltz’s 83rd birthday with Nicola’s family in Bedford, New York, Victoria, 51, and David, 50, were back at home in the UK.

Nicola, 30, later posted a snap to her social media of herself with her dad and Brooklyn, and wrote a gushing tribute to Nelson which said, “I am so lucky to be your daughter, you’re the most loving and supportive father I could ever dream of… Thank you for always being there for us – our constant love and support.”

If Brooklyn fails to acknowledge his little sister’s birthday in any significant way, it will become the latest in a string of family events that have so far failed to repair the Beckham rift. After missing David’s pre-birthday celebrations in the Cotswolds and Paris, Brooklyn and Nicola were also absent from his star-studded dinner party at the Michelin-starred west London restaurant.

David was joined by some of his closest showbiz pals, including Tom Cruise, Eva Longoria and Guy Ritchie, and was treated to a performance by son Cruz, 20, on his guitar, while Romeo, 22, was tasked with the job of carrying in David’s cake.

Given that Brooklyn also failed to acknowledge his father’s big milestone on any of his social media channels, our source claimed the chances of him “showing up for Harper” are looking pretty slim.

“A teenage birthday is a big deal for any child and in the past they’ve always tried to do things together as a family,” said the source. “Victoria would like nothing more than for Brooklyn to show up to celebrate with them all, but it’s not looking likely at all.

Liam Payne’s family reveal what they really think of Building the Band Netflix show

Liam Payne’s final TV project is set to air this week, nine months after the former One Direction singer tragically died after falling from his hotel in Argentina

Liam Payne’s family have spoken out about his upcoming Netflix show – his final project before his death. The late One Direction singer tragically died aged 31 in October last year, after falling from the third floor of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

But before his death, the Wolverhampton-born singer had been working alongside some huge names in the music industry on a new Netflix show, which is set to air this week. Liam teamed up with Nicole Scherzinger, who created One Direction, as well as Kelly Rowland and host, Backstreet Boys icon, AJ McLean, for Building The Band.

While the show is to be released almost a year after Liam’s death, his family have been very vocal about the programme and their views on it. In the series, Liam is at his happiest, helping artists discover their talent and assisting them on their journey of finding success.

But it comes with a hint of sadness for his loved ones, with his sister Ruth admitting she was torn about discussing the show online. She said she was “heartbroken” that her little brother would never see how “brilliant” he is on the show. Ruth shared on her Instagram Stories: “I didn’t know whether to share this, but it felt odd when I’ve raved about Liam’s work and achievements for the past 15 years.

“I’m heartbroken he never got the chance to see how brilliant he is in this show. He knew he had done a good job, we all told him this when we were at filming, but watching it back, wow!” She went on to add: “You’re a star Liam, you always were and always will be. There are a range of emotions I felt watching this, but one of the main ones is immeasurable pride, always. Miss you more every day.”

The Payne family have also given their blessing for the show to air. A source said: “Netflix have gone out of their way to make sure his family are happy.” They concluded by saying: “Producers sent them the footage so they are fully aware of what to expect and they have given it their blessing.”

Netflix have ensured that Liam’s legacy will be cemented on the programme and he will remain a firm key feature on the show. A source said: “Even though Liam had filmed a substantial amount of material for the show, the decision was made shortly after his passing to continue the project, honour his legacy and amazing story as a One Direction member and bring this series to audiences.”

The streaming giant said: “Liam Payne’s family reviewed the series and is supportive of his inclusion.” Meanwhile, Simon Hay, the show’s shooting producer-director has since praised Liam for his time on the programme, saying Payne was “chatty and approachable,” and remembered contestants names.

Another member of the crew said that Liam was “charming” while filming and “Really wanted to help” those taking part. At the start of the show, Liam will also be remembered in a very moving tribute. Host AJ says: “When we came together to film Building The Band, we never imagined we’d soon be saying goodbye to our friend, Liam Payne.

“Liam is a guest judge in later episodes and through his presence we see his deep love for music and his unwavering commitment to helping others find their voice. It is through that spirit that we dedicate this series to Liam and his family.” An official synopsis from Netflix describes the premise of Building The Band, saying: “Building The Band brings together talented singers for a truly unique competition show where building the perfect band is all about chemistry.

“The singers are in complete control as they seek to form their very own bands in individual ‘booths’ without ever seeing each other. All they have to go on is musical compatibility, connection, chemistry and merit. What will happen when the bands finally meet, and looks, choreography, and style come into play?

“With incredible performances, compelling drama, and one big goal — to find the next great music band — the stage is set for an unforgettable experience.”

Building The Band is to be released on Wednesday, July 9.

Rivals actor arrested on set after filming Danny Dyer scenes has assault charges dropped

A Rivals star has had assault charges against him dropped. Nigel Adams, 45, was detained by officers from Avon and Somerset Police at Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire last month.

He was later charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm against his long-term partner Louise Payne in an incident on March 31 this year. Mr Adams and Ms Payne attended Bristol Crown Court on Monday morning for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

The actor, from Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, pleaded not guilty to the charge. Christine Hart, prosecuting, said she would be offering no evidence against Mr Adams.

Ms Hart said: “Subsequent to the case being charged, there is a statement by Ms Payne. She is here at court today, she sits in the public gallery. She has made it clear she didn’t wish to proceed with the case. I have spoken to her at length, as has the officer in charge.

” Taking into account the evidence already in the case and that statement, the only option I have is to offer no evidence on the outstanding count. “Judge William Hart told the court he would formally enter a not-guilty verdict in the case.

The judge told Mr Adams:” A not-guilty verdict, you are free to leave, thank you. “Mr Adams was arrested by officers from Avon and Somerset Police who attended the set of the Disney+ show in Gloucestershire on June 4.

Rivals, starring David Tennant, Danny Dyer and Emily Atack, is based on the Dmae Jilly Cooper novel of the same name. Speaking outside court, Mr Adams and Ms Payne told the PA news agency they were grateful the case had been dropped.

Mr Adams, describing his arrest, said:” They turned up on set and nicked me like I was a wanted man on the run. Now I can get back with my agent and get back on Rivals, hopefully. I still have the costume. “

He added:” I’m grateful everything has been sorted. We just want to get on with our lives. “Mr Adams and Ms Payne have been engaged for seven years and are now looking forward to getting married.

Ms Payne said:” I didn’t want to press charges from the beginning. “had to come to court to say I didn’t want to go ahead with it. I’m happy it’s all sorted”.
