David Platt, the main character in Coronation Street, and Jack P. Shepherd’s love life may be similar. Here we revisit his romantic life as he wed Hanni Treweek this weekend.

David Platt hasn’t had the most romantic relationships with his girlfriends on Coronation Street. His love triangle with his brother Nick ended up being a difficult one for him and Kylie Platt at one point.

He met Shona Ramsey after her son Clayton killed his ex-wife Kylie, and he had feelings for Maria Connor, a friend and colleague of his. Although Sharon and David are currently married, Sharon’s relationship with Kit sprang into question.

David’s love life might be rival to Jack P. Shepherd’s, who has starred in his films for decades. We review his previous relationships and his upcoming marriage to Hanni Treweek ahead of his wedding this weekend.

Hanni Treweek

Between 2018 and 2020, Jack and Hanni co-starred on The Cobbles, but their relationship only lasted after they forged a relationship away from the ITV soap box. Their relationship began when they forged a friendship at a friend’s wedding.

“We started talking, I made Hanni laugh, and we exchanged drinks before flirting.” He described their romance as “that was it”.

“I think we fell pretty quickly, and from that we just clicked, and we were on the same page, and you do have those conversations, but I think we would like to start a family in the future,” Hanni continued.

The pair will marry this weekend after getting engaged to Jack and Hanni during a safari trip to Tanzania in 2024.

Lauren Shippey

Prior to his relationship with Hanni, he had a relationship with Lauren Shippey, with whom he had been dating since 2002. Nyla and Reuben are the parents of two children, but their relationship ended up in bad light in 2010 because of it.

When details of an affair between Sammy Milewski and Jack were revealed in 2010 he was in the news. At the time, the pair split, but he eventually reconnected and offered an apology in person.

Sammy Milewski

While he was dating his ex-girlfriend Lauren, Jack had an affair with Sammy. Together with Sammy, he has a son named Greyson. He reportedly has never met the child, but he still fulfills his financial obligations after DNA evidence confirms his paternity.

Greyson has been in and out of the hospital since he was born in January 2011 with an untreffable one-in-a-million genetic disorder called alternating hemiplegia, which paralyzes parts of his body and causes him to experience excruciating pain.

Marking Greyson’s birthday back in 2021, Sammy wrote a paragraph praising her son: “Massive Happy Birthday to this amazing little man. What a year it’s been an we’re going into! with so many challenges but you never cease to amaze me, with everything going on in the world an struggles you deal with daily #AHC #paralysis yet you constantly light up any room with your witty charm and personality never letting anything set you back.”

Despite the fact that Moonroe Bergdorf has claimed that their efforts to aid the trans community are insufficient, she also claimed that they are “direless” in their approach.

The 37-year-old has walked the catwalk in both London and New York fashion weeks, saying, “Let’s get a plan of action together.” It is crucial to direct traffic, money, support, and awareness to the support services we depend on, because it’s not just us who are impacted. Organizations are constantly attacked.

A study by Zoah found that 49 per cent of trans and non-binary people felt their lives had been negatively affected and issues raised ranged from healthcare to finding work. The study showed that 72 per cent of transgender and non-binary people do not feel safe because of their gender identity.

A consortium of LGBTQIA+ organizations, including the trans charity Mermaids and Gendered Intelligence, stated in a statement that they are “deeply concerned at the widespread, harmful implications of the Supreme Court ruling.”

Reach Out, a mentoring and support collective for young people state the importance of being a visible ally, whether that be attending rallies and events, “calling out homophobia, transphobia or queerphobia wherever you see it, and supporting businesses, charities or other initiatives owned or operated by LGBTQIA+ people”.

The group also suggests the following suggestions to ensure meaningful allyship:

Respectfully and actively learning about LGBTQIA+ history: Take the initiative to learn about it and not undervalue or devalue other people’s experiences. Being able to engage in and learn from these discussions helps you and others treat those around you with respect.
• By respecting the names and pronouns chosen by community members and choosing words that don’t assume gender or relationship roles, we can use inclusive language and accept gender diversity. For instance, the phrase “partner” is inclusive.
• Uplifting diverse voices: Often, the queer community’s experience is also effected by other factors such as religion, ability, culture and race. Seek these diverse stories out for a more well-rounded understanding of the complexities being LGBTQIA+.
• Seeing a person from the perspective of their entire person: It is simple to categorize someone by a single quality or factor. People have many interests, passions, and skills, and they deserve to be celebrated because of how they are layered and complex.

Nick Kamen, a model and singer, lost his battle with an illness he kept secret for three years, most recently stripping to his boxer shorts in a launderette in a 1980s Levi’s advertisement.

He’s best remembered as Madonna’s protégé and the heartthrob of an iconic Levi’s advert where he famously stripped down to his boxers in a launderette. But model and singer Nick Kamen tragically never reclaimed the limelight following his Eighties glory days, passing away aged 59 on 4 May, 2021.

Nick enters a launderette in the infamous 1985 Levi’s commercial to the music of Marvin Gaye’s 1968 classic, I Heard It Through the Grapevine. While several women watch, he removes his T-shirt and puts his Levi’s 501s back on, washing both with the machine. Lucinda, the Viscount of Falkland’s daughter, confirmed that she and her 23-year-old daughter were present during Nick’s final moments. She continued, “Nick was an incredible person, and being around him during his illness was really inspiring.”

The filmmaker continued, “He couldn’t have lived with more respect and dignity over the past three years, and there has been a lot of joy and hardship.”

Lucinda disclosed that Nick, who had known for three years that his death was approaching, “adored” the medical team who looked after him at Hammersmith Hospital, west London. “He valued everything that the NHS did for him and so do the rest of us,” she revealed.

He’s been known for three years that he was going to die, but he never felt sorry for himself, Lucinda said, and he lived his life with incredible charm and brave.

She went on to say that Nick was “accepting of his situation” and, surprisingly, he never let stress take over him throughout his struggle. Lucinda acknowledged that he “never enjoyed” the public attention that it brought with Nick’s stardom and that he felt “most miserable” during that time.

She said, “Nick stepped out of public life because he didn’t like being famous,” explaining why. He was content with his private life and disliked being in the spotlight.

Due to his numerous comebacks in opposition to all expectations, Nick had earned the nickname “Lazarus” from his family. His sister, Denise, said, “He never gave up and put up such a strong fight; he would always fight back and never give up.” He actually fought so hard that we would refer to him as Lazarus after the biblical character because he came back so frequently.

Madonna, who was a dear friend, voiced her grief saying it was “heartbreaking” to lose Nick. She recalled him as a “kind, sweet human” who “suffered too much”.

Fans of Doctor Who have suggested that a seemingly unlikable face might be the best choice for the show’s future, with the BAFTA winner seemingly interested in taking the part.

One fan wrote: “Honestly, I dig it. It could never happen as the BBC and Bad Wolf need to save face but I’d love a series of Comic Relief /Children in Need sketches where they put a variety of ill-judged castings in the role and they all smash it.

“You could make a solid comedy about the weird choices and misjudgements of the last few years of the show.”

Another user claimed that people should overlook Dyer’s reputation as a trustworthy actor and that his resume would be ideal for what producers might want from a future Doctor Who actor.

People have forgotten that he is a truly fantastic actor and watchable, they claimed.
