Rebekah Vardy ‘isn’t giving up without a fight’ after Coleen Rooney court loss
Rebekah Vardy’s recent court appearance against Coleen Rooney reportedly means she won’t give up without a fight.
Rebekah’s legal team was reunited in court after the former’s legal team claimed Coleen had “deliberately deceived” the court over the £1.8 million Wagatha Christie court costs, adding yet another blow to the pair. Former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Rebekah, the star of the infamous 2020 libel case, was ordered to pay 90% of Coleen’s legal fees after she lost the case, which led to documentaries and TV shows.
Coleen claimed she spent a total of £1, 833, 906.89 to go head-to-head with Rebekah. Rebekah’s attorney, Jamie Carpenter KC, claimed a significant expense included a bill for one of Coleen’s legal team to stay at the opulent Nobu Hotel. Coleen was also accused of “deliberately deceiving” the court by underestimating the time and costs involved in the case by Carpenter.
Rebekah’s attorney claimed that the “expert fees” that were billed after the budget reportedly been agreed in 2021 should not be required to be paid £117,500 plus VAT. Meanwhile, Robin Dunne, for Coleen, said that “there has been no misconduct” and that it was “illogical to say that we misled anyone”.
Senior Costs Judge Andrew Gordon-Saker found “on balance and, I have to say, only just”, that Coleen’s team didn’t commit any wrongdoing. He continued, “It is not appropriate to reduce the amount of money she should pay.” A allegedly close friend of Jamie Vardy’s wife claimed to The Sun that she isn’t giving up on this without a fight after the court case was lost. The Mirror has reached out to Rebekah Vardy’s reps for comment. She is “going in swinging,” according to the source, and her lawyer will file an appeal. Becky has come this far and will keep fighting”.
The judge also said that even though there was a “failure to be transparent”, it wasn’t “sufficiently unreasonable or improper” to constitute misconduct. Coleen’s representative, Dunne, argued it was “outrageous” to accuse them of being dishonest and slammed Rebekah’s “deplorable conduct”, adding that the legal costs would have been lower if “she conducted this litigation appropriately”.
Carpenter, for Rebekah, had said that Coleen’s legal team’s bill included “substantial dinner and drinks charges as well as mini bar charges”. Mr. Carpenter continued, noting that Coleen’s team calculated all the costs incurred during the trial in an unfair way.
