Inside Tess Daly and Vernon Kay’s stunning home – from quirky pets to one thing causing unbelievable stress

Tess Daly, the Strictly Come Dancing host, enjoys a lavish lifestyle in the Buckinghamshire countryside with her husband of nearly 21 years, fellow TV star Vernon Kay, and their two daughters, Phoebe, 20, and Amber, 15. The couple, who married in 2003, have both enjoyed numerous high-profile TV roles, contributing to their substantial net worth, reports OK!.

Tess has presented everything from Strictly Come Dancing to Children in Need, while Vernon hosts a morning show on BBC Radio 2, has been the face of the popular game show Family Fortunes and even secured third place on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2020. However, away from the limelight, Tess and Vernon own an expansive six-bedroom country home in the Beaconsfield area of Buckinghamshire, which has been named one of the best places to live in Britain.

The couple share their stunning home with their youngest daughter, Amber, after their eldest, Phoebe, left the nest last year to attend drama school. A source close to Tess revealed to Closer that the presenter was experiencing a mix of emotions about Phoebe’s departure.

“She’s incredibly proud and excited for her to experience a new adventure, but still feels upset when she thinks about her leaving the nest and is worried over how the family dynamic at home is set to change,” they revealed. Despite this, Tess’ home life is anything but dull, with her adorable Shetland ponies, Honey and Willow, trotting around the estate, not to mention the family’s two dogs who are regulars on her Instagram.

The couple have put their stamp on their abode, boasting a swimming pool for those hot summer days, and a veggie patch brimming with strawberries and raspberries. Inside, Tess and Vernon have crafted their ideal living space, with reports valuing the duo at a cool £5 million.

A peek at Tess’ Instagram gives a glimpse into a household of modern comforts, featuring a home gym that was once a humble shed, now kitted out with top-notch gear – a sanctuary during the lockdown when gyms were off-limits. Tess even posted a selfie from her upgraded gym, showing off where she stayed fit during the pandemic.

Pausing her workout to sharing an inspiring post, she penned: “Really wanted to motivate myself this morning so got up early ahead of the kids home schooling/lunches etc to do a zoom workout in the gym (shed)”. The wooden decking in her garden serves as the perfect retreat for a barbecue or savouring a glass of wine on a summer evening.

Alongside the woven sofa are a couple of outdoor lamps that allow the family to enjoy the evenings bathed in the soft glow of candlelight. The celeb has openly shared that this spot, complete with its stylish wicker swing bench and grey cushions, is by far her most cherished part of her abode.

The garden boasts a vibrant green lawn and meticulously maintained hedges, adding to the oasis feel – it even features a swimming pool, which is a hit with both the kids and adults when the temperatures rise. Elsewhere, Vernon was found expressing his annoyance with a peskily persistent problem in their household—their printer.

During his show on BBC Radio 2, the 50 year old presenter didn’t hold back on calling out the tech item that’s been a thorn in his family’s side – printers. “From experience in our house, it’s the only piece of modern technology, and I’m including the kettle and the toaster and the fryer, it’s the one piece that causes you the most grief. They’re a nightmare printers, they really are,” he explained. Speaking of the “basic” model he chose: “We’ve got one, I went for the basic [one] where you’re online and you can allegedly print from your Wi-Fi… doesn’t work.”

Vernon couldn’t hide his amazement at the persistence of paper jams, exclaiming: “If you email it, [it] doesn’t work. Paper jam, still exists. How in 2024 is a paper jam still a thing? ” He argued in favour of more no-nonsense tech guidance: “We need to bring back some kind of technology programme and just be honest. ‘Don’t use this, it’s garbage, get this one’. You know what I mean? Just be upfront because technology is so difficult.”

Overwhelmed by the array of printers available, he told how he slogged through the options: “When I went and bought it there were so many printers on offer, they did so many things. It’s like, ‘Listen, all I need to do is to help my kids print off their homework, that’s all it is, I don’t want this, that and the other’.”

The TV host recently shared a humorous anecdote about his domestic dreams being dashed, revealing his family’s firm denial towards his wish for a chickenarium. Vernon shared his frustration with a smile: “It’s funny isn’t it, when your kids ask, ‘Can we have a hamster, can we a goldfish, can we have a gerbil? ‘. You’re like, ‘Yeah, no problem as long as you look after it, you’ll be fine’.”

“But when I fancy a chicken for myself, it’s a flat ‘no’! That’s harsh – they’ve got ponies and everything. Yet here I am, chicken-less and dreaming of collecting fresh eggs in the backyard! “.

Despite facing opposition from his family, Vernon is undeterred in his quest to own a chickenarium, defiantly stating: “Right, when I go home tonight, I’m going to tell the gang that we’re having a chickenarium. And they’ll go, ‘What’s one of them? ‘, and I’ll be like, ‘Just you wait and see’.”

Strictly Come Dancing stars seen leaving hotel and heading to BBC final and their faces say it all

The stars of Strictly Come Dancing were pictured leaving a London hotel early on Saturday morning ahead of tonight’s grand final.

It’s the last time they will head to rehearsals as the 2024 BBC series comes to an end later and whoever is crowned this year’s winner will get to lift the famous glitterball. Though it was dark as it the sun hadn’t come up yet, the celebrities and their pro partners seemed on fine form.

Comedian Chris McCausland – who is the show’s first blind contestant and favourite to win – threw his hands in the air alongside pro partner Dianne Buswell and whopped as they left the building.

While a fresh-faced Tasha Ghouri, who is partnered with Strictly pro Aljaž Skorjanec, was spotted in her fluffy slippers on the way to final rehearsals which she paired with a cream hoodie and long brown coat.

Other couples who have made it to the Strictly final include former JLS turned TV presenter JB Gill and pro dancer Lauren Oakley. JB was first put with Amy Dowden and they did really well in this year’s competition until Amy had to drop out of the show due to a foot injury last month.

Lauren has since stepped in to take Amy’s place and her and JB have made it all the way to the final.

Looking a bit unrecognisable with her glasses on, Lauren cut a casual look in a grey tracksuit, Dr Martens and a black puffer coat. Lauren, Chris and Dianne were joined by pro dancer Nancy Xu for a cheeky snap.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas was also papped leaving the hotel in a car. She couldn’t contain her excitement as she flashed both hands in peace signs as she was whisked off to get ready for tonight’s show.

The four finalists are Chris and Dianne, JB and Lauren, Tasha and Aljaž and Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola. Each couple will dance three times, including a spectacular showdance, in a bid to be crowned champion.

Then the entire cast from Strictly 2024 will return to the dancefloor as they perform a dance as singer RAYE takes to the stage for a special performance.

Other Strictly 2024 stars spotted heading to the studio included Shayne Ward, Sam Quek, Jamie Borthwick, Tom Dean and Wynne Evans. While Toyah and Montell Douglas were also pictured.

If Chris and Dianne win tonight he will make history as the show’s first ever blind winner. It comes after EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis became the show’s first deaf winner when she was partnered with Giovanni Pernice back in 2021.

The pair are set to dance the judge’s pick – their couple’s choice dance to Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) by John Lennon. They will also do a show dance to You Get What You Give by New Radicals and perform their favourite dance, a waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers.

JB and Lauren will dance their iconic Viennese Waltz to Let’s Go Fly A Kite from Mary Poppins as their judge’s pick dance tonight, along with a samba and a Motown Medley show dance.

Tasha and Aljaž will strut their stuff to What About Us by P!nk as their judge’s choice, as well as a show dance to Sing, Sing, Sing by Benny Goodman. And their couple’s favourite is their American Smooth to Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi.

While Sarah and Vito will perform their judge’s pick American Smooth to Proud by Heather Small, the song made famous through Sarah’s character in Miranda. The pair will also do a show dance to Cabaret by Metropole Orkest and their couple’s favourite is their Cha Cha to Like A Prayer by Madonna.

*The Strictly Come Dancing final airs on BBC1 tonight from 6pm

George and Amal Clooney warned over ‘long distance’ amid ‘concerns’ for his new move

George and Amal Clooney will need to ensure that communication is key if the actor’s new Broadway role means time apart from each other, a relationship expert has warned.

From March 2025, 63-year-old George will take on his Broadway debut in Good Night, and Good Luck, an adaptation of his 2005 journalism drama.

According to a source, the actor’s role in New York may mean spending periods of time apart from his wife Amal, 46, and their seven-year-old twins Alexander and Ella.

“Amal has got her hands full with her work as a human rights lawyer and the twins are in school,” the insider told New Idea Magazine.

“They won’t be able to drop everything and head over every other weekend, even with private jets at their disposal.

“George plans on flying back whenever his schedule allows, but it’s not going to be an easy time.”

The insider adds that there is also “some concern” about how the actor will cope if his Broadway debut doesn’t take off as well as he hoped, particularly as “Amal won’t be directly on hand to pick up the pieces.”

Chloé Moreau, a relationship expert at ExpertsEnRencontres, believes that while long-distance can be a challenge, the couple’s strong foundation will see them through if they prioritise communication.

George and Amal Clooney have been married for 10 years
(
GETTY)

“Distance, especially with young children, requires clear communication and a commitment to staying connected,” she warned.

“George and Amal’s ability to balance demanding careers with family life highlights their resilience and deep understanding of one another.”

Chloe further adds that “small but meaningful efforts” such as “regular check ins or consistent routines for their twins” will help them maintain a strong family bond.

“Time apart may even strengthen their appreciation for one another, reinforcing their relationship,” she added.

“As long as they prioritise open communication and family, this chapter could serve as a testament to their enduring partnership.”

Whether or not George’s role means time apart from each other, the couple have continuously showed support for each other during their 10-year marriage.

According to a previous source, the Clooneys leading separate lives professionally is one of the keys to their successful relationship.

“One of the big reasons Amal and George work so well together is because they’re independently successful and secure in their individual fields,” a source told Heat Magazine.

“They also have great nannies and their houses are like mini resorts.”

With this in mind, it seems that temporary long-distance won’t be a major issue for the pair.

Representatives for George and Amal didn’t respond when approached for comment.

‘I’ve tested thousands of beauty products and these are my six best buys of 2024’

With so many products constantly launching in the beauty aisles, it can be hard to know exactly what is really worth spending your money on. Luckily, that’s where beauty editors like myself are here to help. We test out all the newest products as soon as they launch – or often even before they launch – and give you our honest reviews, letting you know if we think they’re right for you.

2024 – like every year – has seen loads of new products go viral, from smart hair styling tools to much-hyped new perfumes, and myself and the rest of the Mirror shopping team have been diligently trying them all out. There have been a lot of brilliant things launching this year, but here are my favourite skin, make-up and perfume products of the last 12 months that I would 100% buy again…

Lumene Invisible Illumination SPF30 Vegan Collagen Serum in Foundation

£39.90 from Lookfantastic

Laura loves the healthy glow it gives to skin
(
Laura Mulley)

You’ll often find a foundation in my favourites list (keep reading for another, but this is one of the best I’ve ever tried, and the one I reach for the most. It’s just so effortless; it blends seamlessly, never goes dry or cakey throughout the day, and makes skin look so good: dewy, natural and healthy. My one criticism is that it doesn’t come in many shades, however they are very ‘flexible’.

Rhode Pocket Blush

£24 from Rhode

(

There was a lot of commotion in the beauty world when Hailey Bieber’s beauty brand dropped these earlier this year, but they’re so worth the hype; as someone who never liked wearing blusher they’ve made me fall in love with it for the first time. They melt into the skin and the shades are just so flattering, even ones that look rather bold in their tubes. I love Piggy and, surprisingly, Toasted Teddy, while head of shopping Zoe likes Spicy Marg.

DedCool Xtra Milk Eau De Parfum

From £24 for 15ml from Space NK

Dedcool Xtra Milk Eau de Parfum

This new scent is proving to be super popular right now
(
Laura Mulley)

Not a brand new launch globally but a fragrance brand that’s fairly new to the UK, and a scent that I tried for the first time this year after seeing no end of beauty editors rave about it. If, like me, you love light, cosy, comforting perfumes like fan favourite Glossier You, you’re going to love this DedCool scent too – the perfect skin scent, it’s unobtrusive yet utterly addictive.

CurrentBody LED Light Therapy Face Mask: Series 2

£399 from CurrentBody

Laura wearing currentbody LED mask

(
Laura Mulley)

Despite writing about the skin benefits of LED masks for years and owning one of CurrentBody’s popular devices, I’m a little ashamed to admit that I never used it regularly, finding that it didn’t fit very comfortably around my head, and hindered my boxset binge-watching. That was, however, until I tried CurrentBody’s new and improved Series 2 mask, which fits much better on me (closer around the eyes and tighter around the head). Now I’m using it almost every night before bed, and I’m already seeing improvements in my skin.

LED masks are an investment, yes, but if you can commit to regular use, you’ll see results.

VIEVE Skin Nova Complexion Balm

£34 from Sephora

Vieve has just launched its first foundation
(
Laura Mulley)

Another 10/10 foundation from this year, this feels really buttery on the skin, and it blends beautifully with both fingers or a make-up brush, sitting well over primers like Skin Nova or your regular moisturiser or SPF.

Whereas I apply the Lumene foundation all over my face with a brush, I like to press this VIEVE Complexion Balm in just to areas where it’s needed with my fingers, almost as if it’s skincare.

MAC Pro Locked Brow Gel

£24 from MAC Cosmetics

Laura holding mac pro locked brow gel

A clear gel with an unusual-shaped brush
(

I often find that brow gel formulas are either not strong enough to lock my hairs into place all day, or if they are, often leave white, flaky bits on the hairs as they dry. MAC’s new launch, however, ticks both boxes. I also find that the unusual-shaped brush with its comb-like bristles are long enough to get right in between my dense brow hairs, separating and lifting them up then securing them in place.

If you’re after a cheaper option, I also really rate L’Oréal Paris Brow Lamination, currently reduced to £7.98 on Amazon.

Ryan Reynolds visits Welsh pub with A-list pal and floors punters with incredible gesture

Ryan Reynolds and Channing Tatum brought delight and madness to a pub in Wales when they dropped in to the surprise of locals.

The Deadpool and Wolverine actors were in Wales ahead of a Wrexham AFC match – the EFL League One team that 48-year-old Canadian star Ryan owns along with fellow Hollywood star Rob McElhenney, 47. Ryan and Channing, 44, caused a stir when they arrived at The Fat Boar – a gastropub found in the Welsh city that has been open and run by Rich Watkin since 2015.

Footage of the lads in the pub has gone viral – with Ryan shown preparing to do some singing before vowing to buy everyone in the pub a drink. The footage showed the star declare: “It’s nice to be here. It’s my first time singing the Welsh national anthem so wish me luck! And I wanted to say I’m buying a round for everyone!”

Those in the establishment could be heard cheering loudly – while It Ends With Us star Brandon Sklenar was also found to be in the venue as he prepared to celebrate an evening of fun with the famous pair. The Fat Boar official Instagram page shared a snap of the trio of stars, writing a caption stating: “Visit from @vancityreynolds @channingtatum @brandonsklenar at the boat tonight.”

In an interview with the Daily Star, owner Rich gushed about the encounter – and revealed there was a logistical issue to ensure the stars had some privacy while they were in the pub. He revealed: “It was Friday night in the lead up to Christmas – so the pub was busy. We got the call that Ryan Reynolds was planning to visit the Fat Boar and from there we had about 20 minutes before he arrived. It was probably best that way so we didn’t have time to overthink things.”

He said: “The first thing we needed to do was decide where they could sit so they could have a meal – luckily there was a bit where they could be without too much interference. Obviously we want to talk to them – everyone wants to talk to them – but from a business perspective we just want them to eat and enjoy themselves. That was probably the hardest part, making sure people kept away just while they finished their meal.”

He also branded Ryan “classy” for buying everyone in the pub a drink, noting: “He could so easily just have disappeared out the back door, but instead he put some money behind the bar and came out to speak.” Rich also posed for a couple of snaps alongside Ryan at the venue which have also been shared online.

Ryan and Rob bought Wrexham AFC in November 2020 and have firmly put the team on the international sporting map. Huge A List stars have jetted to Wales to see the team in action – and a Disney docuseries has also been released following the team on during their championship.

Fearne Cotton and Jesse Wood burst into screaming match in public park before split

Fearne Cotton and Jesse Wood burst into a two-hour screaming match in a public park before they announced their shock split.

Former CBBC host Fearne, 43, revealed on Instagram Stories that she had and her husband of ten years had decided to call time on their marriage. Fearne, who has been open and frank about the downsides of their relationship as well as the good, dismissed rumours of trouble at home over recent years.

She shared the sad news with a simple message, which read: “It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that Jesse and I are ending our marriage. We please ask that you respect the privacy of our family at this time.” Fearne and Jesse share two children, Rex and Honey, while Fearne also has two step-children from Jesse’s first marriage.

There has been speculation for some time over the couple, with Fearne admitting that she and Jesse had a two hour screaming match in public, before both breaking down in tears. Conflicts over work schedules and a reportedly absent sex life also contributed to the breakdown of their marriage, with Fearne admitting it all got too much at one point.

Fearne and Jesse met in Ibiza in 2011
(
ISM/Capital Pictures)

In 2019, Fearne wrote in her Red Magazine column: “One blustery and grey day, this culminated in a screaming match in our local park, which lasted about two hours until we both broke and cried. Luckily, my husband is the most emotionally literate person, so we can be completely vulnerable in front of one another. In the midst of this gargantuan row, I think we both wondered where the love had gone and worried that it might not come back.”

Fearne often commented on their relationship in her column, telling her fans: “Love takes hard work – and no one wants to hear that.” She continued: “This year, Jesse and I hit a rough patch – he was away, touring relentlessly, [with his band, Reef]. I was trying to keep my own career going while looking after our kids and we were both desperately clinging on to our marriage.”

More recently, Fearne told listeners of her Happy Place podcast that tensions were high with her and her partner. She told fans: “I am a very fiery person, and Jesse can also be quite fiery. We’ve certainly argued in front of the kids. Most parents have at some point. It’s not regular but we have definitely had a pop at each other in front of them — and you don’t feel good about it after.”

The announcement of their separation comes just days after Fearne revealed she had surgery to remove two benign tumours from her jaw. She is currently recovering from her treatment.
