Hugh Bonneville channels Paddington Bear as he joins Oliva Colman and stars at premiere
The Paddington in Peru stars were accompanied by Hugh Bonneville and Olivia Colman for its London premiere on Sunday night.
Olivia, a 50-year-old actress from The Crown, donned a bright pink jumpsuit to attend the Leicester Square event. As they celebrated the third film in the popular family film series, she kept her arm around Antonio Banderas, a leading actor. After a lengthy wait of seven years, Paddington in Peru is finally available.
Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville, 60, channeled the marmalade loving bear as he wore a bright blue cord suit paired with a red tie, red trainers and matching handkerchief. Hugh Grant, 64, wore a tweed jacket and a grey jumper, while Emily Mortimer donned a stunning sheer pink gown.
The late Queen Elizabeth II will make a surprise appearance in the film this weekend, it was confirmed. Her Majesty, who died aged 96 on 8 September 2022, will be appearing in Paddington in Peru when it is released on 8 November. The producer of Paddington 3 declared that the royal family was “very happy for it to happen,” and Buckingham Palace had to approve the use of the footage from the Paddington series featuring the Queen.
For a skit that was being shot for her 2022 Platinum Jubilee celebrations, she sat down with a version of Paddington for tea and a sandwich with marmalade. Ron Halpern, head of global productions at Studiocanal, which is behind the bear film, added to Variety its use came “with the consent and agreement of the royal household”.
Producer Rosie Alison added to the publication: “(The royal family) were actually very happy for it to happen. But we don’t like to make a big deal of it, because Paddington’s obviously a very modest fellow”. Olivia, the actress, said she “signed without a doubt” to play nun The Reverend Mother in Paddington 3.
She claimed that Paddington is “the best person on earth.” Imagine if everyone was like Paddington – wouldn’t that be lovely”? The iconic bear will follow him to visit Aunt Lucy in Peru, where he will be accompanied by actor Ben Whishaw, 44, who is also an animatronic and voice actor.
The first movie in the series, Paddington, was released back in 2014. It was announced in 2007 but wasn’t released until seven years later. Award-winning commercials director Dougal Wilson is helming the third instalment. The first two movies’ director, Paul King, was unable to attend the third Paddington film due to his busy schedule.
Dougal said: “As a huge fan of the first two films, I am very excited (if not a little intimidated) to be continuing the story of Paddington. Making a third movie that honors the love this special bear has received is a huge responsibility, but all of my efforts will be devoted to that endeavor.
