Sir Michael Caine reveals ‘special’ Tom Cruise turned to him for Hollywood advice

Tom Cruise consulted Sir Michael Caine when he first started out in Hollywood, according to Sir Michael Caine.

The 91-year-old screen icon has revealed that around the time of the Hollywood star’s standout performance in 1981’s ‘ Risky Business’, the ‘ Mission Impossible ‘ star, 62, picked his brain on how to achieve longevity in the acting business. Caine bragged about how he always knew Cruise was going to have big things and that whatever he had told him didn’t cause him any harm.

He claimed that when I turned around, a young actor, who was very polite, was questioning how to avoid being just a flash in the pan. That was Tom, probably around the time of Risky Business.

” I can’t remember what I said, but it obviously didn’t do him any harm! He had something unique about him. He had a great attitude, this sense of poise. I find him to be one of the last true stars in movies, which is what interests me. Because of his presence in a movie, people will watch it. Morgan Freeman also possesses some of the starry qualities of Brad Pitt. Not like John Wayne, Humphrey Bogart, or Cary Grant, there are so few of them today.

The pair have remained friends all these years later, and he was” very touched when his wife, Shakira, Lady Caine, 77, had Tom be a surprise guest at his 90th birthday last March. “He added:”]Shakira] arranged for Tom Cruise to come to my dinner at the River Cafe as a surprise. I was very touched. “

Caine has appeared in more than 160 movies over the course of his eight-decade career, but he stopped acting after last year’s “The Great Escaper” because he doesn’t want to play the “old man.” He told the BBC’s ‘ Today ‘ programme:” I keep saying I’m going to retire, well I am now, because I figured, I’ve had a picture which is – I played the lead and it’s got incredible reviews.

“The only parts I’m liable to get now are old men, 90-year-old men, and I thought well I might as well leave with all this. I’ve got wonderful reviews. What will I do to “break this”?

Tom Cruise reportedly startled a village full of people with his daring stunt in September. Members of the public looked up in alarm as Tom undertook daredevil stunts above Bicester, north Oxfordshire. A local shared video of a helicopter following the flight path while a plane was apparently filming all the airborne action while a local shared video of a helicopter hovering over the town.

Many users of the post claimed they were going to file a formal complaint against the Hollywood star, who is renowned for his daring stunts, and made fun of the noise in the comments section. So I now have someone to contact if they are concerned about low flying over my property! I demand a tuxedo, flowery in person apology.

Another wrote, “This morning, the biplane and helicopter are moving over Arncott.” And a further film fan typed: “Saw it this morning over ambrosden, wondered what was going on”. And it seemed the stunt ended up crossing counties, as another fan wrote: “They made it all the way to Buckingham today, two biplanes and a helicopter”.

Victoria Beckham’s subtle ways of keeping David marriage alive after lavish holiday

According to a body language expert, Victoria Beckham always poses “first date style” when she’s with her husband, in order to keep their romance alive.

The Spice Girl and 50-year-old fashion designer had a fabulous day out on a luxury yacht with her husband, a football legend. They both donned their makeup and took a much-needed break as they both soaked up the sun in Miami. Victoria has been busy showing off her outfits, while David, 49, is focusing on Inter Miami, his football team.

The power couple’s downtime together on the yacht also showed subtle signs of their relationship. Judi James, a body language expert, discovered a “sweet gimmick” in the photos that the Mirror published. The Beckhams appear to be playing various roles during vacation, she said. David appears to have thrown his top off the deck as soon as he returns to the lounger, which suggests he enjoys instant gratification relaxation.

Victoria arrives in a black t-shirt and matching cap with phone chargers and other items that suggest a vacation is more of a break from work than a full vacation. We are given a rather sweet insight into the state of their relationship as they sit side by side, she continued. Although they have been married for many years, Victoria seems to be stretching her cleavage.

“This elongating move gives a pose a model-like feel and flatters the leg shape.” It appears that Victoria is still interested in doing some “first date” style poses in what appears to be a little bit to emphasize her attractiveness for her husband despite not taking their relationship and attraction for granted.

While on their luxury getaway, David stripped off to his trunks and kicked back with psychological thriller The Housemaid’s Secret, by Freida McFadden. Victoria wore a black t-shirt and a cap as she re-entered Never Lie, a book by the same author, and showed off her toned legs.

The famous couple’s big plans for their youngest child were revealed this week, making it seem like a brief break from their busy schedules. Victoria and David are proud parents to sons Brooklyn Beckham, 25, Romeo Beckham, 22, and Cruz Beckham, 19, as well as 13-year-old daughter Harper.

Former Spice Girl Victoria declared Harper as her “mini-me” in a recent post, adding that she is “following in mummy’s footsteps” after her teen revealed big plans to create her very own “amazing brand”. The 13-year-old doesn’t yet have her own social media profile, yet David and Victoria make sure to post her regularly. When sharing images of their youngest child, which reference her full name, Harper Seven Beckham, they have both shared the hashtag #HarperSeven.

With the formation of the H7B Limited business, Victoria has also made a significant decision to secure Harper’s future. According to Harper, her goals for the future are to “create an amazing brand when I’m older” and that “everyone be happy in life.” At the RTS London Convention, David also suggested that she is ready to take to the limelight by mentioning a “beautiful little girl” and three attractive boys who “many people are interested in” but “no one is interested in… yet.”

Kerry Katona shares major update on mum after she was rushed to hospital

Sue, her mother, has been in the hospital recently, and Kerry Katona has provided an update on her health.

The 44-year-old former Atomic Kitten star has been at Sue’s side – and sharing social media posts from the hospital. Kerry, who had previously disclosed that she had been close to death twice, took to social media to update her mother’s condition on Sunday.

While Kerry recorded Sue and provided information on her health struggles, Sue directly spoke to the camera. She told viewers: “Well, after everything they told me and me being really really poorly, I died nearly, twice, I have broke me back. And I don’t know how, but apparently it was years ago”.

Disputing the facts, Kerry insisted “it wasn’t years ago” that Sue injured her back, and also said she would be left “frustrated” as she had told her mother to seek medical help in the past. Sue’s fans were confounded by her claims that she had broken up with her fitness trainer fiancé, 36, despite Cherry’s regularly funny jokes that have helped lift her spirits.

Kerry caused panic that she had broken up with Ryan Mahoney this week (@kerrykatona7/Instagram)

On Friday, The Whole Again singer informed fans on social media that her mother was receiving medical care at a hospital. When Danielle Brown responded to the post to ask: “So much love to you both, and is the Dr single”? the singer-turned OnlyFans star cheekily responded back to the fan, writing: “No, but I am”!

Fans then expressed concern that Kerry had ended her six-year romantic relationship with her ex. The singer then went back to social media the following day to clarify her position and claim that she was only joking. In a lengthy post, Kerry wrote: “This is not me confirming that I have split with @ryanmahoney_7 at all!!! I, my mother, and my best friend had a laugh while the doctor was trying to make my mother laugh! In a post on her grid, she then revealed even more details about her humorous comment.

The star continued: “So I see the papers have taken a joke between me, my mum and best friend about a dr!!!! Ffs I even put a laughing face!!!! We were all just playing along with my mother because she has the funniest sense of humor! Never imagined a journalist would scroll through 1500 comments and publish a headline like @ryanmahoney_7 despite the fact that we were trying to cheer up my mother! I’ve confirmed nothing!!!!!! This was light humor, everyone else could see. “!

Kerry’s fans quickly supported her, with some encouraging her to make other remarks to stir up false news. One fan commented: “I think it’s funny I’d be making fake news on the daily” alongside a string of crying-with-laughter emojis.

Nicole Scherzinger and Pussycat Dolls’ Robin Antin ‘settle legal war after three years’

Nicole Scherzinger and Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin reportedly settled a three-year legal dispute.

Nicole, a 46-year-old winner of the Olivier Award, formed the group in 2003 as a burlesque group that made its way into the world of pop music. The Don’t Hold Your Breath singer was a member of the group along with Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt, Jessica Sutta and Melody Thornton.

Before splitting in 2010, the ladies released two albums, with their debut being Doll Domination in 2008 and PCD, which came out in 2005. A major reunion tour of the band was planned for 2019 and a reunion with 10 arena shows were scheduled for 2020, only to have the Covid-19 pandemic cause the tour be postponed. A new disbandment soon followed.

The cancelled tour caused a legal dispute between Scherzinger and Antin, which was scheduled to start in New York the following month. However, new reports have revealed that the women have settled and come to terms.

The Covid pandemic sabotaged and later completely canceled a 2020 tour (Handout).

A settlement was reached on Friday, according to PageSix’s report on Saturday. The publication claims: “]The] parties have reached a settlement in principle, subject to the execution of certain written agreements”. The settlement’s terms, according to the report, were not made public.

According to a source, Scherzinger and Antin, 63, “They actually reached a resolution months ago, but it took some time to formalize the details.” The Mirror has reached out to the artists’ representatives for comment.

When Antin accused Scherzinger of refusing to participate in the tour unless she received total creative control and 75% of the profits, a legal dispute broke out in September 2021. Days later, Scherzinger revealed that her tour had been completely canceled, blinding her bandmates, who claimed the Right There singer had written about it online.

Scherzinger’s legal team had called Antin’s lawsuit “meritless” in January 2022, and claimed the singer had only tried to rengotiate her tour contract after it was initially postponed by the pandemic. Nicole had success both in her professional and personal life despite the legal dispute. She won an Emmy for her role in Sunset Boulevard, a West End musical, and the Broadway production has since been moved to New York City to rave reviews.

The singer, who proposed to her in June last year, has a long-lasting relationship with her rugby player boyfriend, 39, who is also a singer. Scherzinger shared photos from the moment Evans proposed to her on a beach and shared the images on her Instagram grid with the exclamatory note, “I said yes”! accompanied by heart and ring emojis.

Veteran TV reporter John Stapleton on battling Parkinson’s – ‘you learn to live with it’

With wife Lynn Faulds Wood on Watchdog, veteran TV journalist John Stapleton spent years fighting for other people’s rights. Now that he is facing his own battle against Parkinson’s disease, John, 78, is finding the same forthright attitude serves him best.

Sadly, after Lynn’s death in 2020 he will face the future without her by his side, although he has the steadfast support of their son Nick, who is also a TV journalist. John says: “You can’t escape these things as you grow older, these kinds of developments are sort of inevitable. You develop the ability to accept it, move along with it, and be as optimistic as you can.

And he is speaking and talking as evidence of optimism and moving on. After his speech began to deteriorate, John has had weekly meetings with a speech therapist to make sure he can continue speaking clearly. Now he is aiming to walk more than 5, 000 steps a day and is about to join a keep fit class specifically for Parkinson’s sufferers, as exercise aids the condition.

John appeared on BBC TV’s Morning Live with Nick, where he became known for his nearly 50 years of acting, which included covering the Kosovo war and four US elections. He followed this up with a conversation with Susanna Reid, a former coworker, on Good Morning Britain. “The reaction has been absolutely overwhelming”, he says. “We’ve had hundreds and hundreds of emails and messages. Very heartwarming, very encouraging. Everyone can identify a person who has it, in my opinion. There’s massive interest in the subject”.

Stapleton on the BBC in 1976
Stapleton on the BBC in 1976 (BBC Archive)

He added: “It was Nick’s idea]to publicise it]. A short film about role-reversal was what he wanted to make. As a parent, you spend your life looking after your kids. However, there will come a point when your children will look after you and you will have to consider difficult future decisions. Someone said to me the other day, ‘ You’re very brave to do that’. I don’t consider it brave at all. Someone in my position almost feels compelled to keep people informed and have people talk about it. I’ve been a patron of Parkinson’s UK for a long time, as my mum suffered from it”.

In the UK, around 153, 000 people live with Parkinson’s, a condition in which the brain is progressively damaged. John’s mother June was diagnosed aged 78 – the same age as him. She had signs for a while, so it didn’t come as a surprise. John says: “I remember vividly the impact on my mother. The doctor told her, “It will take about five years to set in. ” She trembled. And he was absolutely correct.

With his son Nick
With his son Nick (PA)

Because my mother was the party’s life and soul, she was lively and brilliant. My dad was different. He was lovely but shy, retiring. Mother’s health declined dramatically, her home almost rendering her a prisoner. Playing the game, as it were, with Parkinson’s, is not a prospect I relish. However, you’ve got to think positive. Lynn used to say ‘ No point in worrying about things you can’t change’. “

” Parkinson’s is not going to go away, so learn to live with it. I take the best advice I can from my neurologist, from my speech therapist, and get on with it. “John, who lives alone, is also keen to stay outgoing. He says:” Driving may become an issue. When you get Parkinson’s, you inform DVLA. And they spoke with my neurologist, who assured me that I would be fine for the time being. There may come a point when I have to give up the car. I will sell the car and take Ubers. “

I knew we were both big Manchester City fans, so I had been looking forward to speaking with him. We spend at least half of our time rehashing the previous game and reflecting on our current situation this year.

John’s other long-term concern is the possibility that as he leaves his West London home to play games in Manchester. Although I still find it can be a little challenging at times, I still play home games. I’ve supported City for 71 years, believe it or not.

Stapleton and son Nick (EXPRESS NEWSPAPERS) with their wife Lynn Faulds.

“First, when I was seven years old, my dad took me to see City play Blackpool at Maine Road. Stanley Matthews played for Blackpool. There’s four generations of us that watched Man City. So it’s in my blood. I know lots of people there. It gives me a boost to go, not just for the football, but for the camaraderie as well”.

And while football can continue for a while, work as a journalist, aside from recent appearances about his illness, has stopped. How does he recall his incredible career, then? “I had a wonderful time. I’ve worked for the BBC, I worked for ITV, and there’s been a few ups and downs but, overall, I’ve been very lucky.

” I worked on Nationwide, on Panorama, on Newsnight. I did the chat show The Time, The Place. I did Watchdog with Lynn, which used to get six, seven million viewers a week.

“Then, of course, GMTV. I spent 17 years working breakfast television with the lovely Penny Smith, Eammon, Fiona Phillips, and Lorraine Kelly before getting up at half past three or four. We had a great time.

” I learned things in local newspapers, who did what, when, how and why. That information never left me. You made this tiny bit of talent stretch a long way, a friend once said.

Cardi B unleashes furious attack at Elon Musk amidst Kamala Harris ‘puppet’ row

Elon Musk, a billionaire Donald Trump supporter, and Cardi B have a feud.

In a bid to win the White House on November 5, Vice President Kamala Harris and the former The Apprentice star square off. In the run-up to the election later this week, both Trump and the Vice President received endorsements from numerous celebrities, it seems, Musk has been incensed.

The 53-year-old businessman accused the 32-year-old rapper of being “fed words” when she was giving a speech at the Democrat’s rally at the Wisconsin State Fair Exposition Center on Friday (01.11.24) and had an awkward wait when her teleprompter broke. Cardi’s video was posted to his microblogging site X, where Elon wrote, “Another puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words.” There is no genuineness or empathy in the Kamala campaign. WAP star Cardi retorted her accusations that the Tesla boss “knows nothing” about the “American struggle” and quickly defended herself.

She fumed: “I’m not a puppet Elon.. I was forced to work my ass off as the daughter of two immigrant parents. I’m a product of the welfare system, I’m a product of section 8, I’m a product of poverty, and I’m a product of what happens when you’re put in the system… But you don’t know nothing about that. You don’t know not one thing about the American struggle…. ]sic]”

In a swipe at Elon, she added: “PS fix my algorithm”. The musician’s speech went on for around 10 minutes and she ended up reading from her smartphone. She began: “I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life. I take the call to speak up, to appear, and to share a message that has been important to me for some time.

Cardi B has backed Kamala Harris (Getty Images) in a very strong way.

Cardi added: “Like Kamala Harris, I’ve been the underdog, underestimated, and had my success belittled. Women must put in ten times more effort and remain unsure of how they achieved success. I can’t stand a bully, but just like Kamala, I always stand up to one”.

Before Kamala was running for president, Cardi had no idea whether to support Joe Biden or Donald Trump, but the former, who will lead the country as the first Black woman president if she wins the November 5 election, “changed” her mind completely. She continued, “I didn’t have faith in any candidates until she joined and said what I wanted to hear about the country’s future.”

” I believe every word she says. She’s passionate, compassionate, empathetic, and most importantly, she’s realistic. Kapala acknowledges that this nation is in danger and that we must increase our economy and lower our living expenses. “She then tore into Trump’s lack of respect for women’s rights and branded him a” hustler”. She said that telling us what to do with our bodies is not about protecting women, especially in terms of maternal and mental health care. It’s about supporting us and making the necessary decisions.

“People like Donald Trump don’t believe women deserve rights. When those rights are threatened, he disappears. I don’t want it if my definition of protection calls for restricting our choices and ensuring that our daughters have fewer rights than our mothers”!

Cardi continued: “Hustling women out of their rights is disgraceful. Hustling Americans out of their hard-earned money by selling Trump watches, Trump sneakers, Trump Bibles… do we really trust this man with our economy? A man who only cares about his billionaire friends’ tax savings and wealth. I don’t even get a tax cut”.

In a video shared on Kamala’s official YouTube channel, Cardi said: “Y’all know, if I’m endorsing it, it’s because I believe in it. So y’all better go and vote – please, we can’t be messed up for the next four years. Please vote, please vote for our kids, and for you”!

One of the entertainers who has voiced their support for Kamala Harris is the rapper. Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Taylor Swift have all expressed their support for Harris and her hopes that she will become the first woman to lead the country. Speaking at a rally on October 15 in her hometown of Houston, Texas, Beyoncé said: “I’m not here as a celebrity. I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother. Your freedom is your God-given right, your human right”.

Taylor Swift previously stated on Instagram that she would be casting her vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz that there would only be one president for her. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because, in my opinion, we need a warrior to fight for their cause. I believe she is a wise, steady-handed leader, and that if we are guided by calm rather than chaos, we can accomplish a lot more in this nation. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades”.

Eminem, a hip-hop icon, gave President Obama a speech at a rally held in his Detroit hometown on October 22. Amber Rose has also expressed her support for Donald Trump as he tries to reclaim the White House the following week. She addressed the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in May of 2024, and she later shared a photo of herself with Donald and his wife Melania on social media with the tagline “Trump 2024.”

Zachary Levi has backed the businessman with force, too. Prior to being backed by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., he had previously backed Trump, but he lost support for him after his campaign was suspended. He said: “We are going to take back this country. President Trump is the man who can lead us there from the two options that we have, and we only have two.

Meanwhile, Olympian, reality star and philanthropist Caitlyn Jenner has always been vocal about supporting Trump. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, she shared a snap of her ballot paper. She said: “I voted. Even in ‘ blue ‘ California. CA has far more Trump supporters than you ‘ ‘ imagine! Vote, no matter how blue you believe the state is! Caitlyn later told an online follower: “Yea it is. As I’ve said for years, it was easier to come out as trans than a Trump supporter. I lost my TV career, endorsement deals, commercial deals, etc. lol it’s insane”.
