Dermot Murnaghan, a former Sky News anchor, has taken to X to confess his displeasure with his cancer diagnosis and vow to never let it “take him down.”

Former Sky News anchor Dermot Murnaghan has been diagnosed with cancer. As he announced the news, he took to X to speak about how he is handling the devastating diagnosis.

Thomas Newton, who had sent Dermot his well-wishes to Sky News, said: “Ha! I’m following @chrishoy’s example (albeit at a significantly shower-like pace) and I can’t take this lying down.

The broadcaster on X received heartfelt condolences from others who expressed their support, saying, “Ah thanks Kathleen, I believe that all the enormous support I’m receiving is a big part of that journey.

The broadcaster revealed he’s been responding to treatment and praised his “outstanding medical team” for their care during the devastating time. At the time of sharing his diagnosis, he also issued a passionate plea to men.

Dermot, 67, joined Sky in 2007 and presented a string of news programmes, including the death of Queen Elizabeth on September 8, and was the first broadcaster to share the tragic news. He later made the decision to leave the network two years ago.

Away from the Sky network, Dermot was a familiar face on BBC News , Channel 4 and Independent Television News. He also fronted Eggheads between 2003 and 2014, when Jeremy Vine later took over the role.

He confirmed his diagnosis by stating, “Some personal news. I’ve been diagnosed with Stage IV advanced prostate cancer. I can’t thank them enough. They are providing the best possible care with expertise, compassion, and sensitivity,” in a statement shared on social media.

“I’m responding positively to their excellent treatment and feeling well. I’m blessed to be fortified by the monumental love and support of my wife, family and close friends. Needless to say, my message to all men over 50, in high-risk groups, or displaying symptoms, is get yourself tested and campaign for routine prostate screening by the NHS .”

He went on to add: “Early detection is crucial. And be aware, this disease can sometimes progress rapidly without obvious symptoms. Details @ProstateUK @PCR_News. Sir Chris Hoy, 49, has prostate cancer, and he was diagnosed with it in October of last year, sadly revealing that he only had two to four years to live.

Prostate Cancer UK states that most men with the cancer don’t have any signs or symptoms of the disease. However, noticing changes in the way a man urinates is a likely indication of an enlarged prostate, but they still recommend having it checked out.

They add that bladder-embolic symptoms include urination-related discomfort, a weak flow when urinating, urinating irregularly, dribbling after urinating, needing to urinate more frequently at night, and sudden urges to urinate, as well as leaks occasionally before using the restroom.

Advanced prostate cancer can cause symptoms like back pain, hip pain, pelvic pain, trouble getting an erection, blood in the urine or sperm, and weight loss that is not related to the cause of the disease.

Former Love Island star Tasha Ghouri has lifted the lid on the reality show’s best-kept secrets – including her unusual habit of sneaking in a two-hour nap while the other girls got glammed up for the evening.

Tasha, 26, who won hearts during the 2022 series (Season 8) and made history as the show’s first deaf contestant with a cochlear implant, says her quick catnap was essential for surviving villa life.

She continued, “I wasn’t really a full glam girl.” I would ask the producers to wake me up just an hour before the other girls were doing their makeup for hours. In twenty minutes, I would apply bronzer, eyebrows, lip gloss, a little mascara, and curl my hair. Because I’ve been reading all day, it really helped me recharge. People talking over each other and having so many accents make you feel exhausted.

The model and dancer, who has teamed up with Philips for the Lumea IPL hair removal devices, admits she hasn’t had time to watch this year’s Love Island but says it remains addictive because it’s “a human and social experiment” that lets viewers watch friendships, romances – and fiery rows – unfold in real time.

Reflecting on her own series, Tasha revealed recouplings could drag on for up to five hours, with constant retakes if Islanders giggled at the wrong moment. Actor Brad Pitt has opened up about his “really special” experience in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). He’s recalled attending a group at a “difficult time” after it was previously shared that he went to sessions amid his second divorce.

Brad, now 61, has previously spoken about the group, which he said he found to be a “safe space”. It was once revealed that he spent a year and a half in AA after Angelina Jolie, now 50, filed for divorce, which made headlines in 2016.

He’s now discussed the support group further, though didn’t specify when the sessions took place, whilst on the latest episode of the podcast Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. Brad said that it was an “amazing group” and shared that he “needed rebooting” at that time in his life.

It was a men’s group, Brad claimed. AA was the name. When I was at my lowest point of sobriety. Simply put, I thought it was incredible. Men laughing at you about your experiences, your faults, your mistakes, your desires, your pains, and a lot of humor.

The F1 driver described it as a “really special experience.” Brad later stated on the podcast, “I was pretty much on my back… y’know on my knees. I was very forthcoming… I tried everything and everyone. Anything that anyone has thrown at me.

He continued, “It was a particularly challenging time. I needed to restart. In some places, I had to wake up the f*** up. According to Brad, “everyone was so forthcoming” at the meetings, which “gives you permission” to do the same, and that he “grew to love it.”

Brad’s comment about “rebooting” has led to the resurfacing of a comment made about him by his first wife Jennifer Aniston, now 56, with it suggested that he could have been making a cryptic reference to her remark. She had similarly used an analogy related to computers when describing him after they split.

Brad previously spoke about AA in an interview with the New York Times in 2019. Speaking about his sobriety, the Oscar winner reflected at the time: “I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges.”

Brad spent more than a year in AA, according to the outlet. You had all these men sitting around being open and honest in a way I have never heard about the recovery group he attended, Brad said.

He referred to it as a “safe space,” claiming that others “did not judge him,” which had an impact on how he treated himself. He later stated, “It was actually really liberating just to expose the ugly sides of yourself.”

Coleen Nolan, a panelist for Loose Women, has spoken about the recent announcement that her daughter Ciara Fensome is expecting a child with her fiance Maxx Innes.

TV star Coleen Nolan has opened up about her daughter Ciara Fensome’s pregnancy. The Loose Women panelist has addressed the news today after her youngest child announced that she’s pregnant over the weekend.

Ciara, 24, revealed on Saturday that she’s expecting a baby with her fiancé Maxx Innes, a year on from the news of their engagement. She announced the pregnancy on Instagram alongside a photo of herself cradling her baby bump on a beach whilst on holiday on Rhodes with Coleen, 60.

Coleen’s eldest children Shane Nolan, 36, and Jake Roche, 32 – whom she shares with her first husband Shane Richie, 61 – are already parents. She’s now addressed preparing to welcome another grandchild into the family when her daughter Ciara, whose father is Ray Fensome, gives birth.

She spoke about the news on Loose Women this afternoon. Coleen announced on the ITV show: “My daughter Ciara is expecting. So it’ll be my third grandchild.” She revealed that Ciara is already in her second trimester of the pregnancy.

Coleen also mentioned that she has known about this for some time but hasn’t commented on it. She said, “We’ve known for ages, but we’ve been trying,” in a conversation with her co-stars, “y’know they like to keep it all secret until y’know.”

She claimed Ciara is “scared” but looking forward to welcoming the newcomer to the family. Coleen added that she has been making fun of potential babysitting responsibilities and is already thinking about setting up a nursery at home.

She’s so excited, Coleen said. She is extremely afraid and worried, and she just keeps saying, “I mean you’ll have it most of the time,” which I don’t understand. I’ll, however,… The nursery is already being planned.

She earlier made a further teasing over her plans by saying, “I’m gonna have a room for all my grandkids,” according to the other panelists on the show. When they arrive and stay, you know. She continued, “I love it,” with a happy grin.

Since then, Coleen has updated Instagram users with information on Ciara’s pregnancy. She mentioned the news in a photo of them together, which appears to have been taken while they were recently in Rhodes. They were pictured together holding her bump while Ciara cradled her.

Coleen made a joke to her followers this afternoon about the pregnancy of her youngest child, Ciara. She stated on the platform, “I’m going to be a nanny for the third time!!” I’m shocked that my baby is pregnant.
