Patrick Kielty had a close bond with his mother who sadly passed away over the weekend.

The 54-year-old Irish presenter is the son of late Mary Keilty who died at the age of 84 on Saturday and who was laid to rest on Monday. Patrick’s father, Jack Keilty, had died in 1988 amid the Troubles in Northern Ireland – leaving Mary to raise Patrick and his two brothers, John and Cahal.

While Patrick is arguable one of the most famous presenters from Ireland – having helmed shows in Ireland, the UK and the USA – his mother kept herself largely out of the spotlight. However, Patrick would often open up about his close relationship with his mum – who he said continued to offer to do his laundry until he was in his 50s.

On Monday, hundreds of mourners lined the streets of Dundrum in Norther Ireland to pay respects to Mary – who had a history integrating herself into the local community. Patrick – who has been married to This Morning star Cat Deeley since 2012 and shares two young sons with him – and his family have said they will remember Mary as a “loving mother” and “devoted grandmother”.

Mother’s pride

While Patrick and Cat have high-profile careers as TV presenters, Mary was happy to be out of the spotlight. In 2012 she joined Patrick to help him run with the Olympic torch ahead of the the London Games that year. And Patrick has joked about his mother’s pride in his career.

While he has helmed shows for ITV, the BBC, Channel 4 and America’s ABC, it wasn’t until 2023 that he landed a high-profile job in Ireland when he was announced as the host of the Late Late show. Not long after he took over the role as the host of the late night show, Patrick quipped: “Mary Kielty is secretly delighted but not making any real public statements”.

And proving he has always been a mother’s boy, Patrick also shared during a recent appearance at the Amgen Irish Open, that Mary still offered to do his laundry for him. He said: “I think Irish mummies never really understand what age their youngsters actually are. So you do get a lot of offers like ‘ Do you have any washing ‘ and I would be like ‘ Well no, no that’s done, I’m 53 mum”.

Patrick shared a family snap with his mum to mark St Patrick’s Day in 2021, writing at the time: “Nothing to see here people. Just your typical Irish family. In their Aunt Kate’s front garden. About to go cruisin in the family cart. Being pulled by their pet donkey, Barney. Happy Paddy’s Day”.

A fond farewell

Following the sad news of Mary’s death, her family released a statement where they branded her a “loving mother” and “devoted grandmother”. The statement added she “will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her entire family circle, neighbours and friends”.

On Monday, Patrick was one of the pallbearers that carried Mary’s coffin to the Church of the Sacred Heart in Dundrum as those close to her gathered to bid her a final goodbye. In the eulogy, Mary’s eldest son, John, spoke about their “brilliant” childhood in the 1970s despite the ongoing challenges of the Troubles.

He recalled: “We had a brilliant childhood – the beach, the school, the castle and the football field within a few hundred yards and summer holidays in Wexford. What was there not to like? Being a stay-at-home housewife, Mary was brilliant mother. Between his day job and bands and dances at night, daddy was never there, and mummy took us everywhere.

” So I had assumed that daddy started us playing football, but Mary did, taking us in half of Dundrum to the matches in the car. He jumped on later on when he discovered that we might be half good at it. “

After John, Patrick and Cahal’s father died, Mary raised the three boys and became involved in local activities. John said:” Mary’s life changed in 1988 when daddy was killed. Left with three sons aged 18 and under, it was a real bad hand of cards. She got a job in the school, got involved in the football club. At one point, the pair raised drinks and crossed arms to take sips in romantic style. Kendal also wore a pair of dark sunglasses as she larked around while the various matches pinged and ponged away.

Footage of the pair has gone viral – with some fans fearing that the couple seemed uneven at times – with Kylie showing signs she was more taken with her Oscar nominated lover than he was of her. Reacting to one video clip of the couple that attracted millions of views on TikTok, a fan wrote: “This is me kissing my cat.

NFL sports star, Odell Beckham Jr, has been dragged into the P. Diddy scandal in a bombshell lawsuit filed against the Bad Boy star.

Diddy, 54, is currently awaiting trial from his jail cell in New York after being accused of sex trafficking, racketeering charges and transportation to engage in prostitution, which he denies.

A woman has filed an initial lawsuit against the multi-millionaire – last October, accusing the dad-of-seven of ‘ violently gang raping ‘ her at an Orinda, California home in March 2018.

The woman, as well as two other plaintiffs identified only as Jane Doe and John Doe, have now amended the lawsuit to include Beckham and comedian Druski (real name Drew Desbordes), accusing both men of rape.

In a statement to DailyMail.com, Diddy’s lawyers denied the allegations and said that the music mogul wasn’t at the Orinda, California home at the time of the alleged events. Beckham and Druski have also denied the allegations in statements posted to social media.

A statement from Diddy’s lawyers read: “This new complaint – brought by an attorney who has already been sued for defaming Mr. Combs – demonstrates the depraved lengths plaintiffs will travel to garner headlines in pursuit of a payday.

” Mr. Combs was nowhere near Orinda, California on the day the woman claims she was assaulted there, and the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department has already confirmed the woman’s claims were determined to be unfounded following a thorough investigation.

“In an attempt to salvage her claims following the investigation debunking them, the woman has now invented an even wilder narrative, alleging a vast (and facially implausible) conspiracy between law enforcement, local civilians, and media industry players”. The Mirror has contacted Diddy’s reps for comment.

In a tweet on Monday, Beckham Jr. wrote: “I have been informed of the allegations about me in a suit in CA. I really can’t even believe that my name is mentioned in that matter. There is absolutely no truth to those allegations.

” I do not know and have never met this person that filed the suit. I was not anywhere near Orinda, CA at that time. In fact, I don’t think I have ever been to Orinda, CA. I have never done anything like that, and I would never do anything like that to anyone. I’m confident that these ridiculous claims against me will be dismissed. “

Druski, who said last year in a podcast that he had” been in attendance “at one of Diddy’s parties but” not one of them parties”, responded to the allegations in the amended lawsuit on social media. He said:” I wasn’t a public figure in 2018 – I was broke living with my mom without any connections to the entertainment industry at the time of this allegation, so the inclusion of my name is truly outlandish.

“My heart breaks for actual victims of abuse, but I’m fully confident that the evidence will expose this falsehood and the individuals who are maliciously trying to game the legal system to peddle false narratives”.

Responding to Druski’s comments, Beckham said: “Boy I’ll tell you what. This world makes absolutely no sense. I am covered by God. He will prevail. I know who am I, I know who u are, keep your head. That name will be cleared. S**** stupid”.

Jane Doe and John Doe – who are mother and son – were allegedly witnesses of the gang rape of the woman – and knew Diddy ‘ through their connections in the music industry. ‘

Their lawsuit also claims that Druski (previously identified as Defendant Doe as well) was instructed to rape the woman by Diddy, and did so.

A man accused of stalking actress Anna Friel has pleaded not guilty at court.

Phil Appleton, 71, is alleged to have sent “numerous messages”, visited the actress’s home address on several occasions and “left unwanted gifts” between January 1 2022 and December 11 2024, a judge sitting at Reading Crown Court heard on Monday. The alleged stalking is said to have caused Ms Friel “serious alarm or distress” and had “an adverse effect on her day-to-day activities”, the court heard.

Appleton, of Springfield Road in Windsor pleaded not guilty to one count of stalking causing serious alarm or distress. The defendant, who appeared by videolink from HMP Bullingdon and did not have a solicitor present in court, told judge Neil Millard he accepted sending messages to Ms Friel and visiting her home address on several occasions, but denied his behaviour amounted to stalking.

A provisional trial date has been set for July 28 at Reading Crown Court. The defendant will next appear in court on May 9 for a further case management hearing.

Anna is best known for playing Detective Sergeant Marcella Backland in the hit ITV drama Marcella which aired from 2016 until 2019. While older TV fans may affectionately recall the actress playing Beth Jordache in the iconic Channel 4 soap Brookside between 1993 and 1995 – a role for which she won a National Television Awards in 1995.

As well as appearing in UK TV, Friel has enjoyed success in the USA – starring as Charlotte ‘ Chuck ‘ Charles in the ABC comedy series Pushing Daisies from 2007 until 2009. Friel was previously in a relationship with Harry Potter star David Thewlis from 2001 until 2010 with whom she shares a daughter. She then dated the actor Rhys Ifans – who also appeared in the Harry Potter film franchise – from 2011 until 2014.

Jamie Laing has revealed he was the subject of a robbery – days after he revealed burglars tried to smash into his house.

The 36-year-old reality star has had a bad run of luck alongside his 30-year-old wife Sophie Habboo – who he tied-the-knot with in 2023. The couple live in West London and were horrified to be woken up early one morning to see a balaclava clad criminal trying to break into their home.

And now Jamie has revealed his car got broken into – with criminals leaving creepy items behind that he fears could have been left as some kind of message. Jamie and Sophie had previously opened up about their home invasion ordeal while discussing their lives on a podcast.

On Monday, the former Made In Chelsea star explained that he had been the victim of a second breaking and entering incident – this time involving his car. He detailed the moment he realised his car had been broken into and went on to explain his concerns over what he found inside the car.

Telling all on his Radio 1 show on Monday, Jamie said: “So, I live in London, I was with my wife Sophie and we went to get in our car. It’s parked around the place we live, and it’s London right, things maybe go missing occasionally or whatever. I walked up to the car, and the car looked a little bit funny, the door was slightly open, and I was like, ‘ Hang on a second, has someone managed to get into the car? ‘
