Celine Dion has confirmed that she was supposed to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel earlier this year, but a secret health scare stopped her from getting on stage.

Despite being in Basel at the time, the 57-year-old singer, who won the contest for Switzerland in 1988, did not appear on screen or in the final.

Celine, 57, has now revealed that she was in Basel during the 30-year anniversary of her album D’eux as part of a new documentary about the success of her Eurovision performance but was forced to withdraw at the last minute due to a secret health issue.

Celine said to the audience that she would “love nothing more” than participating in the semi-final.

Dear Eurovision contestants and family. I’d rather spend the moment with you in Basel. Switzerland will forever be a special place in my heart. It was a nation that admired me and gave me the gift of being a part of something so extraordinary.

I’m so grateful for everyone who supported me and for winning the 1988 Eurovision song contest for Switzerland.

Fans suspected she might perform in person at the final when her private jet was spotted in Basel. Only hours before the show, Eurovision’s Director Martin Green CBE also hinted at a physical appearance from the singer. When asked if she would perform, he responded: “Father Christmas exists, and you’ll have to wait and see.”

After Celine’s private jet touched down in Basel, fans anticipated her participation in Eurovision.

Celine, however, did not play in or watch the Grand Finale. According to French news website Le Parisien, she was supposed to sing the song Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi, which won the Eurovision championship, during rehearsals.

However, Celine had to leave the venue because she had a seizure that prevented her from singing when she arrived. Instead, four of the contestants from 2024 performed a tribute to the singer.

Since 2022, Celine has had a very limited number of nerve disorders, including stiff person syndrome, which has had a significant impact on her performance. She was able to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower, but the following year, she had to reschedule several dates of her Courage World Tour due to spasms.

Following the devastation of her 73-year-old husband’s death from throat cancer in 2016, which left her raising their three sons on her own, she learned of her health struggles.

Recent reports claim that Celine is “meltingly rehearsing to perform again” and is recovering well. She’s doing great, her health is in good shape, and she’s hitting the high notes once more, according to a source inside of RadarOnline.com.

She continues with her physical therapy to treat her SPS while gently rehearsing at home. Thanks to all the vocal exercises she’s been doing, she’s moving pretty well and has a wonderful voice.

People are shocked to see how well-rounded she is now. She still has her bad days, of course, but she’s getting stronger.

Celine discussed her experience with her illness while on the Taking Chances tour in 2008 in a conversation with Vogue. My voice started to become difficult to control. It would then spasm before going high. You go to the ENT right away as a singer, she said.

Doctors found no issues with her vocal cords despite conducting thorough examinations. Celine was pleasantly surprised when she finally learned the diagnosis. Although it may seem strange, I experienced relief after being diagnosed. She said it gave me the opportunity to stop fighting the illness and begin working on it.

A lot of her weight was lifted when she was exposed to the general public. Although it’s been a burden, I can now focus on my reality now that it’s out in the world, which is very liberating. “It’s time for me to rejoice again.

The late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin’s daughter, Bidi Irwin, has revealed that she is making a significant life change, leaving only one thing behind.

Bindi Irwin, the 27-year-old daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin and his wife Terri Irwin, has spent almost her entire life living on the grounds of Australia Zoo with her family, including her brother, Robert Irwin. Even when she tied the knot to Chandler Powell in 2020 and welcomed her daughter, Grace, in 2021, the family stayed living at the zoo they call their home.

However, Bindi made a huge blow to her fans in a “life update” video that was shared on Instagram this week: she has officially moved out of Australia and into a Los Angeles, US apartment. Although she did not specify whether her daughter would accompany her in the busy US city, she did not.

The sudden announcement shocked Bindi fans, but the conservationist argued that the change won’t be permanent. Instead of spending the next three months living in Los Angeles, primarily to support her brother Robert, who is competing on Dancing with the Stars.

We are officially moved to Los Angeles, she said in her video. The next three months will be the only time it is not forever. The Australian Zoo will always be here.

Bindi, who was 17 years old, was able to win the US version of Strictly Come Dancing when she herself competed in the competition and is now hoping to support her sibling in winning the trophy.

She continued, “It was about ten years ago that I competed on Dancing with the Stars in America, and I actually won with my amazing partner Derek [Hough]. My little brother will now be on the show, and it was a life-changing experience for which I will always be forever grateful!

“Every week in the audience, I can’t wait to cheer him on and support him.” Because he is such a wonderful person, I know he will shine and that he will make it to the top.

She added, “It will undoubtedly be me and Grace who will cheer the loudest in the audience,” in the caption. She has already chosen her outfits to wear to ballroom audiences each week.

Bindi was praised by some on the post for supporting her brother. Both Robert and his mother, Terri, responded to the video by expressing how excited they are to begin the dance competition.

“So excited! I appreciate you supporting me with each new adventure.

Adrian Edmondson has been criticized as the “biggest douchebag in TV,” according to Paul Sinha, the Chase star.

The 55-year-old quizzer has claimed the Bottom star, 68, who is married to fellow comic Jennifer Saunders, 67, insulted him when he bumped into his comedy hero at an ITV bash.

Paul, who appeared on the Bad Boys Done Good podcast, said: “I was trying to fan boy him at an ITV party a few years ago.

Does anyone even know who this t*** is, he asked his mate in the end. and left laughing, of course.

You’re not even the funniest person in your marriage, I told you.

Prior to beginning a stand-up comedy career, Paul was a junior doctor in London before launching a quiz career on TV shows like The Weakest Link, Mastermind, and University Challenge: The Professionals.

Paul previously discussed the effects of Parkinson’s disease on his comedy career after being diagnosed with it in 2019.

He claimed on Richard Herring’s podcast about Leicester Square Theatre, “I have no idea how long I’ll be a stand-up for, because I get more and more worn out each year.”

I simply want to stage a fun show there.

My time is running out, I declare without making the sound of dread. How much time is running out, exactly?

It could be five or ten years. I’m just enjoying myself, so I’m going.

“I believe that ending your career without regrets is important.”

Paul experienced two heart attacks while performing at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2023, making it the “worst week of his life.”

He had heart attacks, so he had to cancel two of his Fringe shows because he worried about “financial ruin.”

If the funnyman pulled out of more shows, he said he would lose about £20,000 in sales.

‘I saw Oasis in the UK and America – there was a a very big difference’

After seeing the band perform in her home country of the UK and America, one lucky Oasis fan commented that there was a significant difference.

There was a significant difference between the shows that an Oasis fan who had the opportunity to watch the band perform on their comeback tour in both the UK and the US discovered.

Kirsty McCormack, deputy entertainment editor for The Mirror US, was lucky enough to secure tickets to watch Manchester rock icons Liam and Noel Gallagher at London’s Wembley Stadium and at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Kirsty and her partner managed to get tickets for the band’s August 3 show in London after fighting online with countless other devoted fans clamoring for tickets. Being able to see them at Wembley Stadium was even more special because it was close to where I was born and raised, she said, “and I genuinely felt privileged to have an Oasis ticket.”

Kirsty told the Mirror US that seeing Liam and Noel Gallagher perform live on August 3 was “worth every penny I spent.” These kinds of memories are incomparable.

There’s nothing better than being surrounded by thousands or even thousands of total strangers who support a band the same way you do. Even though it’s nice to have a seat at a concert occasionally, I was SO glad to be in the middle, even if it did feel like a workout at times! !

The emotions were unfathomable. Everyone had the best of intentions, and the energy was contagious; without being there, I don’t think you can describe it. The “Oasis blues” are real, FYI.

Kirsty's friends even spotted the differences from her social media posts

Kirsty, who is based in New York, acknowledged that she was jealous of some of her friends who were purchasing tickets for New Jersey dates at the end of August. She was able to get two tickets to the performance on August 31st, but she was concerned that the American audience might not be as enthusiastic as the UK audience.

She admitted, “I was skeptical about how the US crowd would compare to the UK crowd. I went to the Manhattan pop-up store last week and met a fantastic turnout of British and American fans eagerly anticipating the NJ shows.

Oasis has always been accused of “getting the US,” or of implying that America had no idea what the band and their cause were. And to be completely honest, I enjoyed the New Jersey show’s vibes.

“Yes, of course everyone went crazy as Liam and Noel walked onstage to their 2000 track ‘F–kin’ in the Bushes’, and there were plenty of singalong moments throughout the night, but the atmosphere just wasn’t the same. Even one of my friends replied to my Instagram Story the morning after and commented, “The crowd is tame!

No shade to the Americans, but they appeared to be quite reserved. Remaining silent, I actually feel bad for the people next to me and my partner! Oasis! is the band you can really let loose to.

She claimed that despite the fact that the crowd was “really lacking that feistiness,” she still had “an amazing time,” despite the fact that it wasn’t quite the same as Wembley.

Oasis Live ’25 will travel to Pasadena after playing two shows in New Jersey. On September 6 and 7, the band, which includes Cage the Elephant and Cast, will play at the Rose Bowl.

The band will then spend two nights in Mexico on September 12 and 13, before returning to London for two more Wembley appearances.

Although rumors are already rifling about potential 2026 dates as fans ponder possible shows that will commemorate the legendary 1996 Knebworth and Maine Road concerts, the tour is currently scheduled to wrap up in So Paulo on November 22 and 23.
