News of Taylor Swift’s hotly anticipated 12th album has caused mass hysteria and, while this is a perfectly understandable and relatable response, I was recently more blown away by eight words she said during her first ever podcast appearance. The global superstar recently sat down with her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason on their hit podcast, New Heights.

An absolute dream for Swifties all over the world – two hours of Taylor covering, in detail, many aspects and insights into her personal and professional life, alongside her “human exclamation point” of a partner. Over her 20-year-career, the 35-year-old artist has been no stranger to interviews but a lengthy podcast appearance hadn’t been on the cards until now.

We got the massive news of the album reveal – The Life of a Showgirl will be released on October 3, 2025. The self-described numerology buff opted for this date – 10/3 – to link to her favourite number 13, while the 12 tracks mark the milestone of a twelfth album.

Taylor also spoke about being able to buy her masters back, becoming emotional as she discussed the huge significance of a dream she’s held since signing her first record deal as a teenager finally coming true.

But it was her take on social media that really resonated with me. In a world dominated by a constant barrage of online content plagued by, sometimes, inescapable opinions, the iconic musician is relatively offline.

And she offered a fresh and, in my opinion, life-changing perspective. She said: “Think of your energy as if it’s expensive.”

As an anxious person who finds it all too easy to let negative comments run riot in my brain, this was an impressive and considered approach from arguably the most famous person in the world.

Taylor was speaking about her friends and acquaintances who seem to respond similarly to me.

She said: “They’ll see one comment they don’t like and it’ll ruin their day, it’ll ruin their night and I just wanna say to them, you should think of your energy as if it’s expensive, as if it’s a luxury item.

“Not everyone can afford it, not everyone has invested in you in order to be able to have the capital for you to care about this. What you spend your energy on, that’s the day.”

Why do we allow ourselves to be so affected by comments from people who don’t matter to us?

Why do we fall into the trap of caring about nasty comments or warped opinions from strangers on the internet?

Another saying I love – though this one wasn’t coined by Swift – is “never take criticism from someone you wouldn’t go to for advice”.

Taylor’s words reminded me of this clever, helpful piece of advice for navigating an increasingly negative and critical world.

To me, it also showed that despite her unfathomable star power which continues to rise; despite the accolades and achievements; and the worldwide obsession with every aspect of her life; she is, at her core, the same person who used to scour Tumblr in the early days of her career, connecting with fans and offering well thought out and considered advice.

Her words didn’t feel like they were coming from the biggest celebrity on the planet, they felt like those of a great friend who has your best interests at heart.

Of course, Taylor Swift will never know I exist but I will carry her words with me forever.

Noel and Liam Gallagher are heading to Ireland for the next leg of their huge sold-out comeback tour after performing in Edinburgh, Scotland last week

Thousands of die-hard Oasis fans will descend on Dublin for the first of two sold-out gigs at Croke Park today (16 August) and tomorrow (17 August). Noel and Liam Gallagher will perform for 80,000 people at Ireland’s largest stadium at Croke Park.

Die-hard fans will get the opportunity to experience the much-loved duo singing their biggest hits, with temperatures hitting up to 24C. Health officials have advised revellers to wear their bucket hats, with high UV levels expected amid warm and dry sunny spells in Dublin on Saturday.

This will be the very first time either Noel, 58, and Liam, 52, will be performing in the country since 2009 and it no doubt holds a special meaning considering their parents, Peggy and Thomas were born there.

Their mother was born in Mayo and their father hails from Meath, with the duo often spending many childhood summers in their ancestral home. The pair have previously claimed their trips to Ireland had a big impact on their music and lyrics.

Noel previously claimed Oasis’ debut 1994 album Definitely Maybe was “the sound of five second-generation Irish Catholics coming out of a council estate.”

Their Ireland shows come after they performed three sold-out gigs at the Murrayfield stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland last week, with Scottish fans having their chance for pure Oasis mania in the country’s capital.

After Ireland, Noel and Liam will travel to Canada and America for shows in Toronto, Chicago, LA and Mexico City. The brothers will return to London for two more big gigs at Wembley towards the end of September, before entering the last leg with shows in Asia, Australia and South America. Their last show is scheduled for 23 November in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The Oasis Live’ 25 Tour began on 4 July at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff before they headed to their native Manchester with five shows at Heaton Park. They then did five shows in London’s Wembley’s Stadium before their current dates in Scotland.

The pair announced their comeback tour in August 2024, with them sharing the news on social media and saying: “This is it, this is happening. The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

This is the first time Liam and Noel have performed together in 15 years, following their highly-publicised fall-out which led to them icing each other out of their lives.

However, fans may be able to see much more of Oasis beyond their mega reunion as they are said to have been inundated with offers for shows next year. Fans are hoping Oasis will head to Knebworth House next year as they mark the 30th anniversary of their two historic shows there. It would mean they would tip rival Robbie Williams off the post as the artist to have played the most shows at the Hertfordshire venue.

According to The Sun, Oasis has been offered four dates at Knebworth along with a possible residency at their beloved Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium. Fake posters of a 2026 tour have already appeared online as fans hold out hope for a chance to see the brothers back in action.

However, it all boils down to whether Liam and Noel are really up for carrying it on. “They’ll be having a well-earned holiday as soon as this tour finishes later this year,” a source told the publication.

“As for 2026, they’ve seen the speculation, they’ve heard about the offers and they know what the fans want. But it’s ultimately up for them to decide.”

Her excitement at walking down the aisle hasn’t dwindled, however, as she marks four years since her second engagement to fiancé Rami Hawash, whom she met in 2011.

Speaking of her plans so far, Gemma said: “It’s going really well, but if I’m honest, I haven’t actually done anything about it yet because I’ve had just the craziest of times recently. It’s been nonstop. But I’m sure Jedward are gonna get up and sing.

“I’ve not decided where it’s gonna be. I am very last-minute, so I’ll probably decide two weeks before.” While she hasn’t set a date, Gemma says next year will be when she finally says her ‘I dos’. “Absolutely it will be 2026. I spoke to my astrologer and that is the year to get married,” she said.

Revealing more about her big day, including her very unique theme, the reality TV star admitted: “I’d like it very mythical, actually. I’d like fairies. I’m obsessed with Maleficent, you know the movie? So I’d like a woodland setting. Very boho but magical.”

However, Gemma has a lot of work to do as she added: “I haven’t pulled my finger out and done one bloody single thing. So I’m literally at the very, very beginning. All I know is I want it mythical with mythical creatures.”

Despite not having a guest list sorted, Gemma knows she’ll have her best pals, Jedward, on hand to celebrate with her and has even been given a special role.

“They will be singing,” she revealed. “They’ll definitely have a major role in the big day. They could be mythical creatures. I love them to death, the boys.”

Gemma recently teased her Instagram followers that she could recreate her viral Dancing On Ice fall, by getting married on ice. “I’ve always been an oversharer. I love to spill the coffee. Everyone loved it,” she said.

However, it turned out Gemma was simply having fun and seeing how much her fans would believe as she took on the task of oversharing for Sky. She said: “It’s gonna be so much fun when people finally realise that I’m not getting married on ice.”

Patrick Kielty returned to his BBC Radio 5 Live show this morning for the first time since his split with Cat Deeley was announced and he was in jovial mood in the opening minutes

Patrick Kielty has returned to the radio for the first time since announcing his shock split with Cat Deeley – and he joked about “missing out” on a job at Match of the Day.

The Northern Irish comedian and presenter married the This Morning star in Rome in 2012 and they went on to have two children together. However, their love story has since come to an end, and Patrick addressed the nation on his BBC 5 Live return. Opening up his show, he said: “It’s lovely to be back. We are coming to you from sunny Belfast and we’ve got Michael Andrew looking after things here.

“We’ve got Sammy and Craig looking after things in London. It takes a village folks to make this show sound so average, but it is not just me who is back… Oh no, what is this? It is a little welcome back letter from the head of the BBC.”

In self-deprecating joke, the Match of the Day theme tune then played, and Patrick read out: “Dear Mr Kielty, thank you so much for your application to be a host on Match of the Day. Unfortunately every other host employed by the BBC is currently working hosting on this show therefore we don’t need your services. Don’t call us, we will call you, Tim Davie.

“Thanks for that Tim, I shouldn’t have read that out on air!”

Match of the Day returns tonight after the Premier League kicked off yesterday (August 15) and the hosts replacing Gary Linekar are Mark Chapman, Gabby Logan and Kelly Cates.

Cat, 48, and Patrick, 54, met while hosting BBC’s Fame Academy together in 2002 before making their first appearance as a couple in 2011.

Patrick, who is the host of The Late Late Show in Ireland, previously opened up on Loose Women about how their friendship turned to romance.

He said: “There was a moment, we always used to keep in contact, it was her birthday, and she was in Beverly Hills and I was in Dundrum (County Down).

“And obviously LA are eight hours behind, it was around tea time with her. I texted her happy birthday from a little Irish pub. It was around two-o-clock in the morning, approaching closing time.

“And she said, ‘It is just a shame you are not in LA because I’m having a lunch tomorrow’ – so I said I will be there.

“So I got up at five, jumped on a six-o-clock flight from Ireland, got into Heathrow at seven, and jumped on a 20 to 10 flight, got in at quarter past one, walked into the Beverly Hills Hotel. I said ‘hi’, she fell off the chair, and we have been together ever since.”

In a joint statement to the PA news agency last month, Cat and Patrick said: “We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved.

“We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected.

Spice Girl Mel B indulged in a lavish destination wedding with husband Rory McPhee just weeks after their London nuptials as her child Angel gave her a ‘beautiful’ surprise

Mel B was given a “special” surprise by her child Angel for her second wedding to Rory McPhee. The Spice girls star was thrilled to have her three children present at her second wedding day in Marrakesh at the luxury boutique hotel Salmen.

Mel shares Phoenix, 26, with dancer Jimmy Gulzar, Angel, 18, with Hollywood star Eddie Murphy, and Madison, 13, with Stephen Belafonte. Each of the children played a part in the big day, with Phoenix walking her down the aisle, Angel performing groomsman tasks for Rory, and Madison acting as a bridesmaid.

Speaking to Hello about how important it was for her Mel shared, “That meant the world to me. It was the most amazing day and was so full of love. It exceeded all our expectations.” She then explained more about Angel and how he surprised her.

The morning of her wedding saw Mel preparing for her “spiritual” ceremony with her bridesmaids, which she planned for one month after her lavish London ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral. Mel B, her sister Danielle and her niece Mimi among others in the bridal party had their hands and feet inked with henna as as symbol of health and happiness.

The women then got wedding-ready changing into red satin bridesmaid dresses from New Look. Angel meanwhile was preparing with Rory and the groomsmen, including Rory’s father, John, and brother, Jordan.

Angel wore a traditional smart black suit for the event, adding a white shirt, bow tie and chunky platform shoes. Mel confessed the look was quite the surprise and she only saw her son’s outfit for the first time as she walked down the aisle.

She explained, “I knew that Angel was getting ready with Rory and his groomsmen, so it was really quite beautiful, because I didn’t even know what he was wearing until I walked down the aisle.”

Mel was so overwhelmed by the beautiful moment with her family surrounding her that she took a wrong turn when walking down the aisle with Phoenix, who was dressed in a gold sequin dress with spaghetti straps to give her mum away.

Mel made her entrance wearing a wedding dress from Justin Alexander, and walked down the aisle to the soundtrack of Alicia Keys’ hit No One as the sun set around her, creating a stunning glow around the hotel grounds.

Seeing the funny side to the mishap Mel said, “We get things wrong all the time, and in true Brown tradition, we walked down the wrong side of the aisle instead of in the middle.

“Even though Rory and I had overseen every detail of the wedding, I hadn’t seen the aisle until I walked down there, and it looked so beautiful that I burst into tears.

“Phoenix was saying, ‘Are you OK? What do I do?’ And I said, ‘Phoenix, just hold my hand.’ She said: ‘Right, OK; you’ve got this, Mum.'”
