Steps star Ian ‘H’ Watkins still struggling four months after scary health battle

Steps star Ian ‘ H ‘ Watkins revealed that he’s still battling with an illness after a months-long battle.

H, 48, worryingly shared that he’s lost a huge section of his vocal range due to an unnamed virus that took hold months ago, and that he still hasn’t been able to shake the illness off. The musician added that he had the virus back in November during the run of Steps musical Here &amp, Now, and it’s followed him through to 2025.

“When we launched Steps The Musical in Birmingham, I had this awful virus and I still have not recovered from that. So, if I had been asked to do a show, I would have had to have cancelled. Half of my range has just gone. It knocked me for six”, he told Heat.

While H hasn’t named his current health battle, he previously opened up about another lifelong struggle he’s faced, insomnia. Despite being known for his high-energy stage performances, he told HuffPost UK back in 2020 that he’d battled with the debilitating disorder for decades.

H shared that he’s been battling a virus for months, alongside previously sharing that he was ‘ wrecked ‘ from lifelong insomnia (SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images)

He told the outlet: “Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and can be wide awake for two hours, then by the time I fall back to sleep, it’s time to get back up again”, adding that he often feels “pretty wrecked” in the mornings.

H added that his global travels with Steps have made the disease worsen, with him flying in and out of different time zones for years.

“It really did screw with my body clock for years and years, and I think that pattern has just settled with me now – it’s not great”, he admitted.

Alongside dealing with his health issues, H’s suffered a major blow to his personal life in 2017 when he split from his partner of a decade, Craig Ryder, barely a year after the duo became parents to twin boys Macsen and Cybi through surrogacy in March 2016. The former couple’s split wasn’t easy, devolving into a very public legal dispute.

H’s split changed his young family, making him a single father early on in the boys ‘ lives. Speaking with Sky News in 2021, H said: “I have been a single parent virtually from the beginning, I guess, so I know exactly what it’s like to be outnumbered if you are a single parent out there”.

The star admitted that it wasn’t always easy, sharing: “It’s tough… There is no traditional family unit anymore. Families come in all shapes and sizes”.

Detailing the parental balancing act, H continued, “When it comes to single-parent families, I’m outnumbered, completely. So I have to divide my time and I have to devote attention to what’s needed.

” I am a little bit of a, well, 90%, I’d say, I’m bad cop because I have to be, you know, I do rule my children with discipline, but I also put the fun dad hat on as well. So it’s a juggling act, really. And it’s tough. “

Hollyoaks actor Jamie will play Jack The Ripper, who heads up the secret organisation, whilst Gary Webster will play John Grey – the one man who decides to stand up to the Ripper.

A synopsis to the comedy spoof movie reads: “Set in London’s Whitechapel district in 1888, Kirk stars as Jackie/Lottie who finds herself plagued by the infamous Jack The Ripper (Lomas) who is head of a secret organization known only as The Court.

” Only one man, John Grey (Webster), stands up to the Ripper, vowing to fight against the tyranny, carnage and male oppression that is left in the court’s wake. Cut to modern day, and a group of kick-ass female assassins, led by their leader Jackie, plan a series of hits that will leave The Court dead in their tracks, “according to Deadline.

It is not known who Katie Price will play – but will she be one of the” kick-ass female assassins”?

Katie recently revealed she had decided to make a career change inspired by her son Harvey.

” I feel focused and want to achieve all my goals this year. Oh, and guess what else I am doing this year? “she said before revealing she had planned to finish her life-coaching course and wants to become a paramedic.

She added:” I’m going to find time to start that course. I just love helping people and I want to be on the road, or Air Ambulance, it is a long course. “Explaining those at Harvey’s supported living unit had backed her plans, she added of her plans to change her career:” So I said I’d be a volunteer once a week to do that… The life coaching because I love anything about mental health. These are things I want to achieve for myself. And the paramedic thing. I will have to do the access course. “

Katie also recently teased she would be doing a new reality show despite backlash over her IVF documentary. Katie had documented her IVF journey with Carl Woods, but it was fiercely criticised by viewers.

Discussing reality shows, she said:” The thing is, I always say, I don’t need to do other people’s reality shows because I have my own. So watch this space for this year, “before asking the interviewer:” Did any of you watch the Boyzone documentary? There’s a hint, “

Danny Jones has ‘desire to hide’ as he steps out with ‘tense’ wife Georgia, says body language expert

McFly singer Danny Jones and his wife, Georgia Horsley, looked ‘ tense ‘ and ‘ grim-faced ‘ as they stepped out for the first time since his shock kiss with Maura Higgins.

The pair, who have yet to publicly speak about what went down between Danny and Maura at a BRIT Awards afterparty, were seen together for the first time as they stepped out in Richmond nursing coffees as they walked on the green. They both kept is casual as Georgia rocked leggings and a cosy matching zip-up sweater while Danny rocked baggy trousers, a white shirt and a black hoodie.

Following their united front during their walk, body language expert Judi James said Danny almost looked unrecognisable as fans are used to seeing him with a smile on his face. She told The Mirror: “There’s no trace of any performed ‘ denial ‘ rituals here to laugh off any recent rumours about their relationship.

” Walking side by side but with no linking touch and even an avoidance of linking touch, the pair look grim-faced and tense. Danny’s unsmiling facial expression makes him look almost unrecognisable as he’s always seen on TV grinning or doing his famous open-mouth ‘ fun ‘ gurn for the cameras. Both have their inner hands stuffed into their pockets. Not only does this create a barrier between them but Danny’s hand is stuffed so deep into his pocket that it suggests a desire to hide. “

She went on to discuss how the couple were out of sync with their movements and their look. Judi said:” There is a lack of synchronicity here: when he looks at Georgia, she looks down, and when she looks at Danny he seems to stare straight ahead. There is no evidence of any softening of the features here, that tendency to smile that couples do automatically when they gaze at each other’s faces.

“Danny’s shoulders look drooped or slumped to suggest unhappiness while Georgia’s look hunched, which can signal a desire to self-protect. Danny’s eye expression appears sad while there is some tenseness around his jawline here. Georgia seems to have pushed her shades to the top of her head to reveal her eye expression but there’s no hint of any eye-smile, just a look of sadness in these pics”.

A source told The Mirror that the couple are looking to ‘ put things behind them ‘ as they stepped out for a stroll while ‘ moving on with their lives’. The insider said: “It really hasn’t been a good time at all but they are very much together”.

Meanwhile, onlookers remarked how the two appeared “very serious” after being seen in Richmond, south-west London, nursing coffees as they walked on the green. But a source said: “They are positive people and can look to the future together. Things have been hard but they are moving forward as a couple”.

Hollywood icon Robert Redford returns to acting after hiatus for new thriller

Robert Redford has made his return to acting after a six-year hiatus.

The 88-year-old star, known for his iconic roles in films such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, has been one of the most recognised figures in cinema since the 1960s. Robert’s career spanned decades, with multiple Oscar nominations and an Academy Award win for Best Director in 1980 for Ordinary People. He was also honoured with a special lifetime achievement Oscar in 2002.

His last on-screen appearance was in Avengers: Endgame in 2019, where he reprised his role as Alexander Pierce, a character he had previously portrayed in the Captain America films. Now, after a lengthy break, he has returned to acting with a role in the psychological thriller Dark Winds. Set in the 1970s, the show follows two Navajo police officers investigating a double homicide.

Robert Redford has returned to acting after a six-year break, appearing in the psychological thriller Dark Winds

Although Robert had been involved with Dark Winds as an executive producer, he returned to acting in the latest episode. He appeared in the season three opener, sharing a scene with A Song of Ice and Fire author George R. R. Martin. The two played prisoners in a chess game, with Robert reportedly persuading Martin to take part. After some convincing, the scene was filmed, as reported by Vulture.

Director Chris Eyre created a history for the characters, portraying them as troublemakers who had caused a disturbance while intoxicated in a nearby town and were subsequently sent to the Navajo Nation. The scene was shot on a closed set, at Robert’s request. Fans of Dark Winds were excited to see the iconic actor back on their screens, marking a long-awaited return after years away from acting.

This marks a brief return from retirement. Back in 2018, Robert announced his retirement at the age of 81. He confirmed that he was making good on a vow he made two years prior not to appear in front of the camera again after completing his final movie, The Old Man &amp, The Gun, which was released later that year.

He said: “Never say never but I pretty well concluded this would be it for me in terms of acting, and]I’ll] move towards retirement after this ‘ cause I’ve been doing it since I was 21”. He did not rule out directing again. “We’ll see about that”, he said. Robert is one of the most widely admired Hollywood stars of his generation, with iconic roles including Bob Woodward in All the President’s Men and the title role in The Great Gatsby.

He is also celebrated for his fierce commitment to environmental causes, independent film-making, and his Sundance Film Festival. His big break came in 1967 in Barefoot in the Park, starring opposite Jane Fonda. She once said of him: “I was so in love with Bob. Nothing ever happened between us but he was fabulous to kiss. I couldn’t wait for the cuddling scenes]but] he doesn’t like to do love scenes”.

When producers began to cast 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, they wanted a co-star as established as leading man Paul Newman. Warren Beatty, Marlon Brando, Jack Lemmon and James Coburn were all considered but Paul’s wife Joanne Woodward urged him to look at Robert.

Robert said: “When the studio didn’t want me for the film he stood up for me. I don’t know how many people would have done that”. The friendship became one of Hollywood’s most enduring. Over the years they took on brotherly characters. “We both got to know each other’s flaws pretty well”, Robert said. “We just played them to the hilt and we’d try to trick each other”.

Coleen Nolan’s bittersweet 60th as she battles with her desperate grief and fear of a grim future

Loose Women star and Daily Mirror agony aunt Coleen Nolan turns the big 6-0 on Wednesday – and there’s only one thing she’s in the mood for…. Yes, that’s right – dancing.

For while it’s just two months since she lost Linda, Coleen knows her big sister would have insisted on her doing what The Nolans do best as she hits the landmark day.

“It does feel weird that I’m turning 60 so soon after losing Linda”, Coleen exclusively tells the Mirror, after throwing a big London bash for her colleagues and family. “]But] parties were her thing, so she would have insisted on some kind of celebration that involved music and dancing”.

It was two months ago that fellow Mirror columnist Linda, 65, passed away from double pneumonia following a 20-year cancer ordeal. It came 12 years after the Nolans lost sister Bernie aged 52 to the same disease. So while some might fear entering a new landmark decade, Coleen just appreciates she’s one of the luckier ones

“Milestone birthdays can have a funny effect on people”, she says. “For some, turning 60 might feel a bit depressing – let’s be honest, it’s starting to feel quite close to pension age, whatever that is these days!

” But I’m just incredibly grateful to get the chance to celebrate another year and I feel blessed that I’m still doing work that I love. “

She’s been less lucky in love however after divorcing the father of her two boys, Shane Richie and the father of her daughter Ciara, Ray Fensome. And in the days leading up to her big birthday, Coleen admits she began to fear the fact that she was entering a new decade alone having split with her boyfriend-of-two-years Michael Jones in December.

“]I’m] turning 60 as a single woman and, while that’s right for me at this stage, I did have a moment this week of feeling a little sad that I might not get to love again, “Coleen confesses. Her biggest fear is not meeting another Mr Right, after realising how few eligible men she crosses path with in her day-to-day life.

” I love being in love and being loved, and I feel I still have a lot to give in that department, “she says”. But I won’t be doing the dating app thing again – if I do meet someone it’ll be through fate or friends, although I can’t really imagine it, as the only guys I meet in my industry are either too young, married or gay! “

But Coleen is never one to look on the negative side for too long.

” When I look back on the past 60 years, I feel proud that I’ve come so far on my own, being able to buy my little farm and to be there for my kids, “she adds in her weekly Mirror newsletter”. I’ve been through hard times and heartache, but I’m lucky to have had a lot of love in my life – two husbands who gave me my brilliant children, as well as fun relationships before, in between and afterwards. “

Paul Danan’s pal left ‘absolutely devastated’ over inquest – ‘he was a complicated soul’

Paul Danan’s close friend has opened up about the harrowing results of the inquest into his death.

Hollyoaks actor Paul tragically died aged just 46, and was declared deceased by paramedics upon arrival after police attended his body at his home in Brislington, Bristol, at 5.20pm on Wednesday January 15.

According to an inquest held in Avon Coroner’s Court today, the primary cause of his death has now been revealed as a “combined toxicity of heroin, methadone, codeine, pregabalin, cocaine and zopiclone, with a secondary contributory finding of benzodiazepine”.

Paul’s loved one Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace has addressed the news that Paul died of a cocktail of drugs, acknowledging the actor’s struggle. “Absolutely devastated at the inquest news. It’s a huge loss as he was such a happy, but complicated soul. I pray for his family and believe that he is now in a better place”, she told the Mirror.

At the hearing, it was also revealed that Paul’s partner Melissa Crooks formally identified Mr Danan to paramedics and police at the scene. Coroner’s officer Alexis Camp told the hearing: “The circumstances are that Mr Danan was found unresponsive at his home address.

” Emergency services attended and confirmed he had sadly died. A post-mortem has taken place and samples have been removed for further analysis. “She added:” I understand there are no family concerns. “

Paul was due to appear in court over driving and drug offences the day his death was announced. He was set to enter a plea at Warrington Magistrates Court in Cheshire after being charged with being in possession of several bags of cocaine as well as a ‘ quantity ‘ of cannabis. He was also accused of driving a vehicle while under the influence of drugs in October in Warrington.

It was previously reported that Paul ‘ slipped and fell ‘ in his luxury apartment near Bristol. His death was not treated as suspicious by authorities.

Paul had been staying in the apartment block to try to get clean, according to the Mail Online. Speaking on The Dozen with Liam Tuffs podcast last year, Paul shared that he was living in a ‘ dry house ‘ in Bristol – which is believed to be the flat where he was found dead.

During the podcast he also revealed that he’d had an overdose not long after returning from a rehab stint in South Africa following his exit from Hollyoaks.

After periods of sobriety over the course of decades, Paul opened up about suffering hallucinations due to taking cocaine in a hotel room during a pandemic relapse. At that point, he had been to rehab 17 times.

Speaking to The Sun, Paul said that he” felt so terrible, guilty and ashamed “when he began using again and that it became” really scary. “
