DJ Scott Mills’ frank admission on BBC Radio paycheque as he takes over from Zoe Ball

After the 51-year-old quit last year, radio DJ Scott Mills is gearing up to take over Zoe Ball’s role on BBC Radio 2’s The Breakfast Show.

It’s likely that Scott, a 51-year-old man,’s salary for the stint will be made public as the BBC revealed how much their highest earners are getting paid. It was revealed Zoe was earning a huge £950, 000 a year. Scott was reportedly paid £450, 000 annually, which is a modest salary for the actor.

However, Scott has shied away from any discussions about his pay and revealed the minute pay packet he used to receive when he first started out as a radio DJ 35 years ago.

Photo shows Scott Mills and Zoe Ball posing and smiling together outside the BBC building
After her emotional exit (PA), Scott will take over Zoe Balls’ BBC Radio slot.

“I’ve been doing this since I was 16 and I’ll tell you how much I got paid then — £20 a show”, he told The Sun. A five-hour show was referred to as the show was running from 1 am to 6 am.

Although Scott acknowledges that there’s curiosity around salaries due to them being published by the publicly-funded BBC every year, he said: “I don’t think you can say that I haven’t played the long game. No one likes to talk about money, according to the statement, “It’s not like some hotshot’s turned up and is earning all this money.”

The radio host recently revealed that when he learned that he would be replacing Zoe, “irresembling tears rolled down his face.” Scott recalled: “I cried in my dressing gown and Sam was upstairs, I said, ‘ Sam, come downstairs, come downstairs. ‘ And, yeah, I fully sobbed”.

“It’s a massive gig and that isn’t lost on me at all. And also I think I’ve been on BBC Radio for 25 years”, Scott revealed. When I started to feel less sobbed, I had a real reflective moment, like, “Well, I remember being a little sad that I never got The Radio 1 Breakfast Show, but then if I had at the time, would I be where I am now”?

The star had previously been told by bosses that he would be given the same Radio 1 slot, but it wouldn’t work. Trevor Nelson will take up his previous slot, which was held from 2pm to 4pm.

Before presenting her final BBC Radio 2 show, Zoe broke down in tears last month. “We’ve had some tears already. We don’t quite know what to do with ourselves this morning, do we”?, she said as she kicked off the final show just before Christmas.

“We’re all pretending we’re going to be OK, that the emotion isn’t getting to us – but it’s definitely getting to us. So hold tight! But Richie, so many nice comments yesterday – made me blub my eyes out”!

‘I found the best uncrowded beach in Europe under 3 hours away and in warm in February’

We arrived in the five-star Pine Cliffs resort, which is located about 30 minutes west of Faro. It has mesmerizing sea views, as one might expect from the name, and is situated on a cliff top. The eight pools, one with a swim-up bar if you prefer a more tranquil afternoon in the glorious sunshine, the other with an indoor pool if you prefer to travel in the cooler months or the idea of stepping straight out of the water and into a steaming Jacuzzi, are set up in the lush gardens, giving you natural shade from the trees.

At the base of the magnificent sandstone cliffs, a wooden boardwalk leads to a large stretch of golden sand. Although there are many stairs, the steepest part will be escalated by a lift. You can walk miles on the beach every morning as we set off.

The beach is accessible from Pine Cliffs Resort ( Pine Cliffs Resort), and you can walk miles along it.

Our bedroom was light and airy, with a balcony overlooking the gardens. The bathroom Serenity products were particularly impressive to us. Although it’s uncommon to have curly hair, this one did just fine.

The resort is also home to tennis and padel courts, a nine-hole golf course – and golf academy for those wanting lessons, a gym, a spa, a children’s play area and an impressive eleven bars and restaurants, covering every cuisine from Japanese to seafood. You’ve come to the right place if you’re looking for a deeply relaxing getaway with all the comforts you need right away.

Pine Cliffs Resort’s restaurants are open daily.

During our stay, we ate at six Pine Cliffs restaurants, and we always received the best food and service. In the open patio setting of Corda Café, we had sizzling prawn tacos and a salmon sushi poké bowl as our favorite meals. We also sampled Portuguese-Indian fusion dishes at Rohini, where the fragrant aromas will have your mouth watering before you’ve even ordered, and tucked into the rich, baked aubergine lasagne in the pretty courtyard of the Italian taverna, Portofino.

For lunch with a sea view, we headed to Maré down on the beach for the catch of the day, in our case tuna. Fish taste better when it’s being eaten while the waves crash against the shore in front of you. O Pescador offers excellent seafood dishes, and you can choose your fish from the catch on display. Our whole-baked sea bass was served with a green salad and roast potatoes.

For a lighter bite, we had lunch at Zest, this time choosing a fresh salad of kale, edamame, pistachios and feta. Our only regret is that we didn’t spend as many nights visiting the restaurants we had missed.

What to do at Pine Cliffs Resort

For an adrenaline-fuelled adventure, we headed out on a Dolphin and Caves boat excursion. We soon experienced a thrilling high-speed sea voyage, which required a few splashes, and were soon amazed by the dolphins’ incredible jumping abilities. The tour’s second half features a more leisurely cruise that includes secluded beaches and giant sandstone arches.
boat scurrying its way into some of the coastline’s caves. Even though we were paddleboarding, brave people were out there, and we were delighted with our comfortable seats on a much more stable catamaran.

Back at Pine Cliffs, we headed to the chic Serenity Spa, starting with a visit to the thermal suite’s hydrotherapy pool, salt sauna, herbal sauna and experience showers. We had to choose between receiving a full-body massage and the famous Senses of the Algarve, which uses beach sand and a hydrating wrap made of carob and orange oil. In the end, the massage was successful, and by the end, we had only managed to enjoy the final few minutes because we were so relaxed.

To round off a brilliant day, we headed to the resort’s clifftop bar, Mirador, which is the perfect spot for a sundowner. As the sky rose pink and the sky turned a lovely shade of pink, we had complimentary champagne cocktails and nibbles there.

Hotel Pousada Convento Tavira

We spent three wonderful days at Pine Cliffs before moving on to Tavira, a small town located just over 20 miles east of Faro, where we checked into Pousada Convento Tavira, a grand 16th-century convent that was later converted into a luxurious hotel. It’s now home to 36 rooms centred around a beautiful courtyard, where breakfast and dinner are served. The main building’s original stonework and the outdoor pool and sun deck are both sleek and contemporary, blending seamlessly with the older and new.

The convent is conveniently located close to Tavira’s formidable churches, Roman bridge, and prehistoric castle ruins. Our favorite restaurant, Nó De Gosto, served up our delicious mushroom risotto and garlic prawns, and al fresco dining is the main evening activity in town. We didn’t order dessert, though, because there’s an ice cream shop – Delizia da Ponte – just round the corner that quickly became our daily haunt.

A wonderful experience can be had at the convent itself. Excellent seared tuna and crispy ravioli were served here. It’s a lovely setting in the softly lit, peaceful courtyard surrounded by the old cloisters. As for breakfast, you’ll find everything from Portuguese pastries to bacon and eggs in the buffet, as well as fresh fruit, juices, a cheese selection and cereals.

There is a yoga class in the gardens every Saturday morning, and there is a treatment room where you can book in for a massage or facial. During our stay, the hotel’s staff was beyond accommodating, making it a truly memorable stay.

What to do in and around Tavira

The Ria Formosa Natural Park is made up of a number of islands along this coast, all of which have incredibly long sandy beaches that are accessible by boat. From the old town of Tavira, a 10-minute crossing brings you to Ilha de Tavira, which has the best beach if you value your privacy. It’s not difficult to find a spot away from other sun worshippers because of the nearly seven miles of golden sand. If you prefer not to lie on the sand, there are cafes and loungers to rent.

We also visited Ilha de Cabanas, which has the cheapest, quickest and most frequent boat crossings. Although crossings to Ilha de Tavira take about 30 minutes, there are only as many as 30 minutes between departures because the boats are smaller and farther apart. In Cabanas itself, a cute seaside town fronted by a wooden boardwalk, we enjoyed a lunchtime pizza with a sea view at Gio &amp, Gabi.

The shallowest waves were found at Ilha da Fuseta, which is where we made our final beach trip. For less confident swimmers, it’s great to go quite far out and still stand up. We travelled by train to Fuseta, and it was around 10-15 minutes ‘ walk from the station to the boat jetty.

How much does it cost?

Rooms at Pine Cliffs start at £175 per night for two adults with breakfast. For two adults B& B, the prices at Pousada Convento Tavira start at £151 per night. Based on March departures. For more information on the region, visit Serenity Spa and Algarve, and visit Serenity Spa and Algarve for spa treatments and excursions. EasyJet and British Airways fly direct from the UK to Faro.

Dragons’ Den star flooded with heartbreaking tributes after he’s found dead in woodland

A Dragons’ Den contestant who was discovered dead in a forest on October 1 has received numerous tributes.

Many friends have posted tributes to Graeme Turner, who appeared on the show in 2010 where he pitched a children’s customisable wallpaper kit to investors. His son, who was in charge of the messages in his father’s businessman father’s honor, posted an emotional message on Facebook at the end of the year in memory of Graeme.

Writing alongside a picture of Graeme, his son wrote: “I have just lost the best, strongest, kindest, most loyal, courageous dad I have ever had and known, he was the godfather the inspiration in my life. I am devastated and that is an understatement”.

Graeme Turner, 53, was found dead on October 1 in Pwllheli, North Wales, it was heard at inquest (BBC)

One user wrote, “It’s with a heavy heart to announce we lost a very good friend and former member of The Supporters Club prior to Christmas,” in tribute to the Dragons ‘ Den contestant. Despite a long battle with illness, sadly, Grace Turner passed away.

Another tribute followed, saying, “A great man and I had the privilege to be in his company on numerous occasions in my time.” Another deeply broken friend added, “Very sad news, Graeme was a true gentleman and will be dearly missed by all condolences to Graeme family and friends.”

Another described Graeme’s character, as they shared their thoughts: “An absolute gentleman who will be sadly missed by all who knew him, my thoughts are with his family at this sad time, safe now in the arms of Jesus”. Another added: “RIP Graeme, memories that will last a lifetime, thoughts are with all the family at this sad time”.

Another person expressed regret for your loss, “Sorry for your loss mate; I knew you were looked upon with great respect and hope you are as well as you can be.” During his appearance on Dragons ‘ Den, Graeme was looking for a sum of £50, 000 for 5% of his firm but the Dragons didn’t take the opportunity.

The children’s kit helped parents to transform their child’s bedroom into their favourite football stadium. Without the panel’s investments, he continued running his business. The 53-year-old was discovered last year in Pwllheli in North Wales, according to the inquest into his death. This week’s hearing featured coroner Kate Robertson’s suicide verdict. On January 16, his funeral was held.
