Countryfile presenter Adam Henson has shared a rare insight into his famous family, including his uncle Nicky Henson, who starred in EastEnders among other shows

Adam Henson, known for his regular appearances on Countryfile, has recently provided a glimpse into his family life, which boasts connections to EastEnders and television stardom.

The 59-year-old presenter, who first hit screens in 2001, grew up familiar with the glam world of showbiz thanks to his father, Joe Henson, who featured in programmes like Animal Magic, and shared the screen with broadcasting legend Angela Rippon.

In a chat with Minerva magazine, he reminisced about rubbing shoulders with celebrities who visited the farm on account of his dad’s media work, and discussed his uncle, Nicky Henson, a notable actor guest-starring in series such as Inspector Morse, Lovejoy, and Fawlty Towers. Nicky also had a role on EastEnders as Jack Edwards in 2006.

Adam recalled: “My dad used to work on the telly with Johnny Morris on Animal Magic and a program called In The Country with Angela Rippon.

“So the telly wasn’t alien for me. And my uncle was a famous actor, Nicky Henson. So we used to have celebrities coming to the farm,” reports Gloucestershire Live.

Sadly, Nicky Henson passed away in 2019 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Prior to his passing, he reflected on his life post-diagnosis in an interview.

He expressed gratitude for his extended time, saying: “For the last 18 years, I’ve regarded myself as ‘being in extra time’, which I never expected to have, so I’m very thankful for it.

“I got my first cancer on Christmas day 18 years ago and didn’t think I was going to survive, after I was told I had a large tumour and would have to be operated on.”

The actor’s health battle involved major surgery to remove the first tumour, which entailed taking out half of his colon and a third of his stomach. Although he initially recovered, a follow-up scan a few years later revealed another tumour, prompting a six-month course of the medication Gleevac to shrink it to a size suitable for surgery.

Adam credits his wife and father for encouraging him to take the leap into showbusiness, suggesting he apply for a presenting role. Prior to his TV debut, he had taken over the family farm in 1999, two years before landing his breakthrough role on Countryfile.

In an interview with Minerva, Adam shared: “My wife worked in television and did a presenter search. So she and my dad persuaded me to apply and we agreed that it wouldn’t matter if I had a go at trying to get a job presenting, but never thinking I’d get the job.

“And amazingly I managed to land it and been doing it ever since.”

While he’s best known as a well-dressed and quick-witted criminal in Peaky Blinders, away from the cameras, Paul Anderson, who plays notorious gangster Arthur Shelby, has had a turbulent time.

Starring in one of the nation’s most favourite TV shows, Anderson’s sharp-suited character has amassed fans all over the country, but in real life, he has been plagued by health issues, alleged career setbacks and criminal charges.

The 46-year-old has sparked concerns in recent years after fans were shocked by images of the actor looking dishevelled and caught with crack cocaine on him. Close friends have also shared their worries the father-of-one was on a “downward spiral” after breaking the law and had reportedly gone missing from his million pound London home.

He was recently charged with riding a motorbike without insurance near Lord’s Cricket Ground last August, shortly after he shared a snap of himself next to the impressive BMW bike on Instagram. However he failed to attend the hearing for driving without insurance where he was found guilty – despite claims he is “untraceable”.

Anderson was also unreachable when he was meant to meet with a social worker after pleading guilty to possessing crack cocaine in January last year. The Sun reported in December 2023 how the actor, who has had plot lines involving drugs on Peaky Blinders,was caught with crack cocaine on Boxing Day in Camden.

He pleaded guilty to possessing the Class A drug, as well as Class B amphetamines and two Class C prescription substances. He was fined £1,345 after appearing in front of magistrates. An arrest warrant was issued, but it was reportedly withdrawn several weeks ago because Anderson could not be traced. Scotland Yard told the news site inquiries were ongoing.

However despite being “missing” he has recently given a rare interview to a local Scottish newspaper ahead of a planned appearance in Dundee in June. In the interview, he hinted at a new series of Peaky Blinders set to begin filming this summer, as well as sharing details on his friendship with Tyson Fury.

Last summer the actor also detailed he was “struggling” in a clip shared to Instagram, which sparked concerns of a “downward spiral” from close friends who said he was “living like he is on another planet.”

In the clip, Anderson said: “Just like you, search inside, find it for yourself, overcome the struggles, the tribulations, the pain that you are feeling. Because there is no story without struggle.”

He continued: “Take it from me, I have struggled, and I struggle today, the same way you do, and we deal with it. If I can help you deal with your struggles, then let’s do it together, let’s make this the first of many conversations, because you can’t do it on your own, you need help.

“And I will say this one more thing to you, you can help others, in turn, it will help you. It’s called service. So turn around my friend, look for somebody else who also is suffering, and hard as you may find it, help them, because you’ll find it helps you more, believe it or not. Remember this, we are amazing. You are unbelievable.”

Around the same time, friends have also shared worries for his health, and a local shopkeeper, who considered Anderson a friend, told MailOnline: “It’s heartbreaking. He’s a mess. But his erratic behaviour is causing real problems. He often seems dazed and not with it.”

He claimed the actor had been arguing with locals and was struggling to walk. “He looks out of control. It’s tragic,” the friend said. But this wasn’t the first time the star was looking unwell. In February last year, he took to Instagram to reassure his fans after he was pictured looking unrecognisable.

A far cry from his sharp suited Arthur Shelby look, he was spotted shopping at a London bakery wearing a chunky cream fleece and a leopard print hoodie, looking pale and downbeat. In response to concern, he took to Instagram to explain his unrecognisable appearance.

“Back to business and back on set today! Thank you for all your love and concern to everybody. I was and have been absolutely flattened by the flu.”

Two people were detained by Brazilian police on Sunday in connection with a allegedly foiled plot to attack Lady Gaga’s packed Rio de Janeiro concert, according to a statement released on Sunday.

The civil police of Rio said it had “prevented a bomb attack that would have taken place at Lady Gaga’s concert in Copacabana on Saturday night” with the assistance of the ministry of justice.

Up to two million people attended the superstar’s free beach concert, according to officials.

In a reference to Lady Gaga’s fan-favorite nickname, “Little Monsters,” the Rio police reported on X that they had arrested an adult who was “responsible for the plot” as well as a teenager in the operation.

According to the statement, those responsible “carry out attacks using improvised explosives” online by recruiting individuals for the “gaining notoriety on social media”.

Police searched throughout Rio de Janeiro, as well as in Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul, and Sao Paulo.

The couple also shared some more heartfelt photos of their trip to Paris, where they spent a night together, watched the Eiffel Tower glisten in the distance, and drank a bottle of Petrus together.

The family – minus Brooklyn – also gathered once again last night for a special dinner celebration in London. His son Romeo did a sweet speech at the event, where he said: “Good evening everyone. I would like to start by thanking you all for being here tonight. I know without many of you in here tonight he wouldn’t be half of the man he is today. But to the man of the moment…”

Meanwhile, David was said to be “heartbroken,” and Brooklyn missed the occasion.

“David is putting a brave face on it, but he is heartbroken.” Although David and Victoria hoped he would change his mind a while back, a source claimed, Brooklyn actually informed his parents that he and his wife, Nicola, would not be attending.

The family, including the grandparents, and their siblings, are all in pain because he hasn’t attended one of David’s 50th celebrations. They only hope things will be fixed soon.

Meanwhile, Sam recently admitted he went on his first date since his shock split from Love Island star and documentary maker Zara.

He declared, “I feel like I’m happy right now because things are really nice.”

Sam discussed how his nerves got the better of him on the recent date as he chatted to Pete Wicks on their Podcast Staying Relevant.

He remarked, “I messaged Pete and he sent me a list of things I need to do because I was so nervous.” My first date since I’ve been single is today. I called Pete and he said, “don’t overthink it, just enjoy it. ” As I get closer to the date, I called him.

Former EastEnders actress Lorraine Stanley has debuted her incredible weight loss as she looks totally unrecognisable one year on from her soap exit

EastEnders actress Lorraine Stanley has shown off her incredible body transformation one year on from her exiting the soap.

The star was known to viewers as fan favourite character Karen Taylor before she left and underwent a total change of image. Lorraine, 48, was seen posing alongside her sister on Instagram as she raved about her sibling in a touching post dedicated to her.

Wearing an embroidered floral waistcoat layered over a white vest and teamed with a long khaki skirt with large dark sunglasses on BBC star Lorraine looked totally unrecognisable as she grinned while cuddled up to her sister. She captioned the picture writing: “Happy Birthday to my beautiful sister Karen. Love you millions.”

Lorraine was also seen showing off her new super-slim frame in another social media post after she attended the London Marathon to show her support for snooker player Frankie Jakeway. Lorraine shared a photo and video montage from the day out in a sun-soaked London.

She also posed at a series of landmarks in the city alongside her partner Mark Perez and their daughter Nancy who was born in 2015. The pictures showed Lorraine celebrating with Frankie after he completed the epic 26 mile race as she raved about how proud she was of him for competing.

She wrote: “Smashed it Jakeway. I couldn’t be more proud of you!!! I couldn’t do it so big respect! And for such an amazing cause Children Cancer UK. We had such a great day. Nancy loved watching you.”

Lorraine starred in EastEnders for seven years before Karen was written out in 2023 after a complicated fake kidnap plot involving her son Keanu Taylor and his girlfriend Sharon Watts son Albie Watts.

Her final scenes aired in December 2023 after she ran away with a chunk of cash stolen from Phil Mitchell.

Lorraine did return as Karen for a couple of brief scenes in 2024 after the discovery of murdered Keanu’s body and for his funeral. Lorraine has claimed she would never return to the soap full time now that her story wrapped up.

She told The Sun last year: “Once you’ve done a soap, you’ve done a soap. At the moment I wouldn’t go back, I’m happy doing what I’m doing.

“They’ve left the door open, so never say never. I made that special appearance and it was nice to see everyone and be a part of the family again.”
