Prince William throws punches as he jokes ‘it’s been a while’

Prince William put on his boxing gloves and threw a few punches on a charity visit today.

The Prince of Wales dropped into the Centrepoint base in Ealing, north west London, where he spoke to youngsters who have turned their lives around with the help of the organisation. William, who this year celebrated 20 years as patron of the charity, used his visit to ask how Centrepoint has been pivotal in helping the service users get back on their feet after the ‘cliffface’ of homelessness, before going on to start university courses and even set up businesses.

After being welcomed to the centre – which offers 17 beds for young people aged 16 to 25 – William was subbed into a competitive game of table football. The heir, who looked relaxed in a blue cardigan and chinos, said: “This looks like it’s getting serious, I don’t want to let you down! “

As he attempted to defend his goal, service user Bethany, 24, told the Prince how she had been left homeless at the age of 17 with a young child before going on to study at the London School of Economics. William said: “You are one of the shining examples of how Centrepoint can help people, can you tell me about the transition of how you came into contact with everyone here? “

Bethany said: “It was close several times to being on the streets, but we were given accommodation that just wasn’t suitable for a young child. When I finally got into contact with Centrepoint they helped me so much with my life skills and everything that was going on with my situation that I was able to go to university, it was totally transformative. It was the safety net I needed and without them I do not know where I would be now. “

After drawing the match 2-2, William conceded “we’ll call it an honourable draw” before Centrepoint CEO Seyi Obakin joined the conversation. Mr Obakin told the prince of the importance of “catching young people before it’s too late” and how the charity was constantly working on “identifying ways in which we can help early on”.

William said: “This is it, and this is what I hear time and time again, the safety net that is needed. Because without it, the alternatives are very real and have huge knock on effects. “

The Prince was then taken outside to join a fitness session run by the Boxwise Foundation. The organisation, founded by philanthropist Nick Maughan who also serves as a trustee of Tusk Trust of which William is a patron, works with the most disadvantaged and vulnerable young people across the UK, striving to reduce the rates of gang violence and knife crime through sport, community and opportunity.

William dived straight after being handed a pair of gloves by Charlie Beatt, a professional coach who has spearheaded the careers of world champions, saying: “You guys look like you’re professionals already! ” Mr Beatt took William and a group of five youngsters through a set of boxing drills, throwing left and right jabs followed by a left hook leading the future king to admit: “I’m working up a sweat already”.

After congratulating him on his skillset, William told the trainer: “I might get back into boxing! It’s been a while, a long time actually, but it’s seriously hard work. ” Palace aides said the purpose of William’s visit was to “listen and learn” about the ways in which Centrepoint has used decades of experience to help people who find themselves on the edges of society.

The prince is now in his second year of a five-year programme ‘Homewards’, which is aimed at bringing together those suffering from homelessness with businesses, charities and local authorities. The project, run by his Royal Foundation team, has been working in targeted locations including Aberdeen, Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole, Lambeth, Newport, Sheffield and Northern Ireland – to build relationships with the private and public towards the goal to end homelessness.

Back inside the centre William spoke to Nora, 21, who was described as a “shining example” of the success of the organisation after setting up her own hairdressing salon and beauty clinic despite being homeless in her teens. She told the prince more needed to be done to help young people stay in education instead of being forced to give up their dreams if they find themselves homeless.

William said: “That is truly amazing and quite a big deal to have opened up your own business so well done to you. We have to do more to help people as early as possible, because the clifface is quite big. It can be a steep curve upwards if you get the right support, but a huge drop off if you don’t. ” Agreeing with the prince, Nora said: “You can’t really build a life if you don’t have the stability, so that is key. “

Following the visit Mr Obakin said William was a “true ambassador” for the cause, adding: “We couldn’t ask for more. The more he takes on, the more he knows he could be open to criticism. People can say ‘oh you live in a palace, what do you know about this situation’, but he listens and he can be the change.

“Everything is laced with risk for him, whether the criticism is that he is being too political or stepping out of his lane, but we need him and we support each other. “

Kensington Palace said Centrepoint, as a key partner of the prince’s homelessness project, would help to advise The Royal Foundation on the design of the programme, and provide advice and guidance on its ongoing development. A spokesperson said: “As you all know, Homewards is now in its second year and The Prince is focussed on the action that can take place across the six locations. He will no doubt take inspiration from the innovative approach he saw at Centrepoint today. “

It comes as William’s estranged brother Prince Harry’s trial against the owners of The Sun newspaper was delayed today. It is not believed that the brothers will see each other if, and when, Harry does return to the UK.

The pair’s infamous feud was deepened after Harry released his autobiography, Spare, in which he claimed a row with William over his wife Meghan once turned physical.

Harry wrote: “He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out. “

Prince William has never responded to Harry’s claims.

Strictly star Giovanni Pernice’s heartache as he confesses to fans: ‘I lost all my friends’

Strictly star Giovanni Pernice says he lost all his friends in the aftermath of the Amanda Abbington allegations, saying: “Nobody wanted to be seen with me. ”

Speaking on the first night of his tour on Monday night in High Wycombe, Giovanni says how everyone shunned him – leaving him heartbroken. “I felt like the world collapsed… . I didn’t have anybody around me,” he said. “All the people that were supposed to be my friend disappeared. ”

He says how he “felt alone”, adding: “Nobody wanted to see me, they were like ‘oh you can’t be with him’.

Giovanni had been accused of being a bully by his dance partner. An internal BBC investigation later upheld six of 17 complaints against him but not those of physical aggression. Before the allegations, Gio said he felt “like I was on the top of my game. ” He says: “I was untouchable, was a superhero… . but fate did have different plans for me. ”

But he says how he got through the ordeal by remaining positive. “I always had a voice in my head, saying ‘don’t worry… . we know that all of this is going to finish. One day you’ll be back on top and you will feel again. ” He says how he took great solace in his musical “idol”.

He added: “There was always one voice. My idol here, Freddie (Mercury ). He would say to me, ‘Giovanni , don’t worry. Whatever happen. Remember the show has to go on. ’

The Italian professional, 34, has previously insisted he was merely a “strict teacher” but was never a bully to the Sherlock star, 50.

He added at the end of last year: “Bully is a big word and there’s a difference between being a bully and caring about what you do. “I’m glad 11 allegations have been thrown out. At the beginning there were very serious allegations, for instance threatening her or abusing her, and all of this has been taken out.

“I’m a strict teacher. I said it myself. I care about my job. I’m very competitive. ”

Amanda has since told how in the year since she made the complaints she has been accused of accused of “being a liar, a troublemaker and of being ‘mad and unstable’”.

She added: “I’ve also received rape and murder threats. My family and children have been subjected to threats and intimidation.

“Despite this vile abuse, I’ve never regretted coming forward, and today’s apology from the BBC is a vindication of my complaint. It’s also a vindication for the others who have contacted me to express concerns about their own experiences on Strictly. “

Bonnie Blue’s worrying update with Lily Phillips as sex challenge ‘feud’ deepens

Lily Phillips and Bonnie Blue’s extreme sex challenges are sparking fierce concern from experts as they continue to compete against each other.

When controversial adult star Bonnie, 25, claimed to have broken a world record by sleeping with 1,057 men in just 12 hours last week, attention turned to her fellow adult film star Lily. Just days before Bonnie bragged about her troubling stunt online, Lily had said she was ‘in training’ to hit the very same ‘four digits’ milestone.

Lily’s plans emerged after she was filmed breaking down in tears following her own ‘challenge’, where she slept with 100 men in 24 hours. The viral YouTube clip of a visibly struggling Lily caused widespread fear over the growing trend of extreme OnlyFans content, both from experts and fellow sex workers alike. They say the saturated market, combined with a digital landscape which favours viral, shocking content, is pushing young women on the platform to potentially damaging extremes.

Some concerned viewers of the documentary even called for the platform to be banned, citing an apparent lack of safeguarding for potentially vulnerable creators. The Mirror has put these concerns to OnlyFans with no response, but the company’s CEO Keily Blair has previously insisted that the sex platform is ‘safe’, ‘feminist’ and ’empowering’.

The duo’s competitive streaks and reactive patterns to set new potentially dangerous sex records, each more extreme than the last, are causing concerns. Therapists and mental health specialists have sounded the alarm on the long-term physical and mental health impacts that could come from their work.

Psychosexual therapist and sex educator Natasha Silverman told the Mirror that stunts like Bonnie’s 12-hour ‘marathon’ can result in anxiety, distress and physical ‘trauma’. She explained: “Even with adequate stimulation, an extremely long sexual session would make a woman vulnerable to pain, tears, internal physical trauma or at the very least discomfort would be practically guaranteed, with sexually transmitted infections being a real risk. “

Lily and Bonnie appear to have once been on good terms but their relationship soured last year when Lily called out Bonnie for making “misogynistic” comments. Lily appeared on The Spills chat show and argued that Bonnie’s controversial comments on sex could be harmful, regardless of whether they are said for ‘rage-bait’, a tactic Bonnie herself admits to using.

Responding to Bonnie’s outlandish comments about her ‘saving marriages’ by sleeping with women’s husbands, where she insisted that women must have sex with their partners to stop them cheating, Lily said: “If some girl watches that and is like, ‘right, well I need to be having sex with my partner otherwise he’s going to cheat’, then you’re just having sex for his enjoyment because you feel like you have to do it. I think if you feel like you have to have sex with someone, that feels non-consensual to me. “

Now, Bonnie has spoken about her friendship with Lily, setting the record straight on where the troubling idea came from. She told Metro: “I shared my idea with Lily that I wanted to beat the world record this year… and I spoke about it way before Lily announced ‘her’ idea of the world record,” she claimed. In October, Bonnie appeared on an episode of Dream On With Lottie Moss and spoke about the concerning challenge.

She said on the podcast: “I don’t know if I’ll do it next year or wait until I leave the industry, but I want to beat the world record. It’s [a man] every 45 seconds… If I leave the industry, I need to go out with a bang. ” It was a month before Lily declared she wanted to take on the task. But have they clashed heads? Bonnie said: “Lily and I haven’t spoken. I wish her all the best in her career and I hope she finds enjoyment making content. “

Meanwhile, Lily told Fabulous magazine about Bonnie’s sex ‘marathon’: “I respect it. That’s hard work, so congratulations to her. I don’t think there’s competition and I don’t feel I now have to do 1058. I feel like there’s enough men in this world. ” Disturbingly, Lily, 23, has now turned her attention to a new extreme challenge, claiming she will instead have anal sex ‘with as many guys as possible’.

Therapist Natasha tells us that that Bonnie may have used dissociation to cope with hundreds of sexual encounters. She explained that dissociation is a “coping mechanism” where the person may “disconnect” from their body or emotions as a way to protect themselves from discomfort, distress, anxiety, or emotional overload. While some people might find out-of-body experiences “pleasurable” or even “transformative” others may find them “distressing”.

It’s also been warned that the internet’s obsession with virality could have harmful repercussions on sex workers and women in the wider society. Lily raised this issue herself in a recent YouTube documentary, remarking that some subscribers may be expecting certain things from women that don’t necessarily reflect real life.

Health psychologist Jo Rodriguez, from Straightforward Psychology, told the Mirror that younger “brains are not adaptive enough to recognise actually that’s not the real world”. She warned: “It’s a version of reality that is given to you in the context of the situation. These young people, they see this, they expect this to be what relationships are like. How women are or what men are like, and then believe that they need to fit these roles. It can create all sorts of problems for both men and women because it is not an accurate reflection of reality. “

Lily

Bonnie addressed her critics in a previous interview with us, telling the Mirror: “These women hating on me can’t seem to understand that some women do things other than stand in the kitchen and let their husbands pay the bills. They seem to have a big issue with that. But the more hate I get, the more it increases my bank balance. “

She added: “I’ve received a lot of death threats. Some say, ‘I’m going to stamp your head in’, ‘I can’t wait to put you under the ground’, and ‘I hope you get tortured and kidnapped’. They think I’m the one in the wrong, however, what I’m doing is completely legal. They want to kill me – how am I the one that needs help? “

Meanwhile, Lily conceeded that she is “part of the problem” when it comes to men’s unrealistic expectations of women in the bedroom. She told The Sun: “It’s so hard because doing something extreme like this is not normal. I think guys are going to expect girls to sleep with that many guys and do stuff like that – but that isn’t real life. It’s my fantasy but I’m not helping the situation. “

Lily said thay she tries to make it clear her content is of the extreme scale and she does it because she enjoys it. She said: “I feel like I’m one of a very small percentage of women who would enjoy this kind of activity and I just try to be as honest with people as possible about that. But I’m not responsible for what men do and how they think. “

But he has also left behind a 9 year-old son – DeNiro, and a devastated family. “

The Beatles’ George Harrison ‘didn’t want to’ play on legendary final performance

The Beatles’ George Harrison had no desire to participate in the band’s final performance in 1969.

Just before the Fab Four ascended to the rooftop of Abbey Road studio for their last show together, Harrison expressed reservations over performing at all.

The Beatles’ often overlooked songwriter behind hits like ‘Here Comes the Sun’, ‘Something’, and ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’, shared his lack of desire to perform with his bandmates.

His reluctance was captured in Peter Jackson’s ‘Get Back’ documentary. Despite his initial hesitation, the legendary musician, who later formed The Traveling Wilbury’s with Bob Dylan and Electric Light Orchestra’s Jeff Lynne, was persuaded to join in.

This uncertainty came shortly after Harrison had temporarily left the band. A notorious diary entry from the ‘All Things Must Pass’ genius revealed he had quit the Fab Four due to growing tensions in the studio and frustrations surrounding the creation of ‘Abbey Road’ and ‘Let it Be’.

Harrison even suggested they advertise in the New Musical Express for additional guitarists to complete what he had written for the 1969 album. However, he soon returned and eventually agreed to the rooftop performance.

In a clip from ‘Get Back’, an unconvinced Harrison can be seen agreeing to “do it”, but making it clear he did not want to be on the roof.

He stated: “You know, whatever, I’ll do it if we’ve got to go on the roof. But you know, I mean – but I don’t wanna go on the roof. Of course I don’t wanna go on the roof. “

His perspective shifted when his long-time friend and bandmate Ringo Starr expressed his desire to perform a surprise rooftop gig, which eventually took place on January 30, 1969. This marked The Beatles’ last performance together, despite being offered several lucrative deals to reunite until John Lennon’s death in 1980.

Ringo Starr revealed that they were offered $50million in 1976 – equivalent to £200million today – for a one-off reunion performance. Despite the tempting offer, The Fab Four declined due to a disagreement with the show’s organiser over a peculiar opening act.

Starr and the other surviving member, Paul McCartney, briefly reunited at a concert in London late last year. However, a full Beatles reunion never materialised after their split in 1970.

Although each member of The Beatles believed they would reform and perform live again, their reunion was thwarted by an unusual proposed opening act – a “man biting a shark”.

Thrill-seeker Wally Gibbins wanted the band to play on live TV after he fought a 14ft Great White shark “to the death” in a broadcast from Western Samoa – but the proposal did not exactly appeal to the group.
