Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev and Olympic snowboarder Shaun White have called off their engagement and parted ways after a five-year relationship.
The last public sighting of White, 39, and Dobrev, 36, was on 31 August 2025 in Los Angeles, where they were seen hand-in-hand running errands. However, Dobrev was seen without her 5 carat diamond engagement ring at the Eternity premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on 7 September.
Dobrev, known for her role as Elena Gilbert on the popular CW vampire drama for six seasons, has also removed her pinned engagement post from her Instagram, which had been at the top since White’s romantic proposal in October 2024.

In her now-deleted announcement, the star penned, “RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé,” reports the Mirror US. White shared the same photos and wrote, “She said YES.”
A source close to the pair has since told PEOPLE of the split: “It was a mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another.”
According to Vogue, White had “a few different plans to propose” to Dobrev. He initially planned to pop the question during their summer holiday, but changed his mind after Dobrev injured her knee in a dirt-biking accident.
He then considered proposing when they were in Cape Town for The Earthshot Prize Ceremony.
After White sensed that Dobrev might have anticipated a proposal during their South Africa trip, he opted to pop the question during an ordinary week in late October, orchestrating every detail: the date, venue (The Golden Swan restaurant in New York City), blooms, and a photographer.
For weeks, he secretly relocated Dobrev’s five-carat Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring throughout their house to prevent discovery. Initially stored in the safe, it was then moved to his sock drawer, and finally hidden deep in the tool shed.
He arranged for his publicist to send Dobrev a fabricated invitation to an exclusive CFDA/Vogue supper with Anna Wintour at the Golden Swan in New York City, which she readily accepted. “He made the invite look so legitimate,” Dobrev revealed at the time.
Upon entering the private dining room, she discovered only a photographer and White waiting inside. “I went into shock. I just froze and stared at him,” she explained.
Her initial reaction was, “No.” Followed by, “No, no, no!”.
“I knew she was nervous because when she’s nervous she’ll make jokes. She’s like, ‘So, wait, Anna’s not here?'” White recalled. Dobrev admitted she can’t recall precisely what unfolded next, having somewhat blacked out, though she does remember that “he said all the right things.”
The couple waited several days before revealing their engagement online.
The duo initially crossed paths briefly at an awards ceremony in 2012, but didn’t properly connect until 2019 when both were enlisted as speakers at an event organised by motivational guru Tony Robbins. Reminiscing about their meal together after the event, White revealed to PEOPLE in January 2022 that he “actually didn’t know anything about [Dobrev]” at the time.
Nevertheless, he was puzzled when numerous staff members requested photographs with her. “And I was like, ‘What’s happening? What’s going on?’ It was actually really funny,” he remembered.
The pair began their romance in 2019 and quickly moved in together when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. White and Dobrev made their relationship Instagram official in May 2020 when White posted a collection of photos showing Dobrev cutting his hair during lockdown.

During their five-year relationship, the duo were frequently spotted on red carpets and championing each other’s careers. In 2022, Dobrev was there to cheer on White as he took part in his fifth and final Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Comedian and actor Jason Manford has hit out at a story claiming he ‘quit’ his role as head teacher Steve Savage in Waterloo Road after making his exit after one series

Jason Manford has hit out at rumours that he ‘quit’ his role as Steve Savage in Waterloo Road after only one series. A news report shared a tweet on X claiming the star ‘quit’ the show, but the comedian was quick to clarify the real reason he departed with a hilarious tweet.
Slamming the media reports, the 8 Out of 10 Cats star said: “I mean, I didn’t ‘quit’ but really tough to carry as headteacher once you’ve chucked a pupil’s dead body in the canal! It doesn’t look good on the old Ofsted report! @WaterlooRoad,” along with a laughing face emoji.
The tweet gained several hundred likes and fans of the show rushed to the comment section to share their love for his character.

“Wasn’t it just a one series contract? Mind you I’ll miss seeing you in a suit,” one fan comment and another added: “Awww you were brilliant as Steve Savage.”
One fan posted: “Shame you can’t have some prison visits on it. One of my favourite headmasters,” and another quipped: “I think you’d be fine as long as all paperwork was filed correctly.”
The Salford-born comedian previously revealed he asked for his storyline to be changed on the show after his daughters said it was ‘weird’. His character had a romantic interest in canteen worker Nicky Walter (played by Kym Marsh).

Speaking on Good Morning Britain in November, he said: “It’s very of its time I suppose so one of the storylines they mentioned was that my teacher, he’s a widower, and he was going to have this romance with this teacher.
“They mentioned the teacher who it was, and I mentioned it to my girls, who loved the show, and they were like, ‘You can’t do that, you weirdo, she’s about 24 and you’re 43, that’s weird’.
“I didn’t know the character, so I rang the producer and I said, look, I’d love to be in it, what a privilege to be the headteacher, but I said, I can’t have this storyline, it’s just weird, it’s just not right in today’s society’, and certainly my daughters were not happy with it.”
He added: “So, I said, is there another more age-appropriate member of staff who maybe he could have this romance with? They said, What about Kym Marsh? And I said, I’ll see you Monday.”
In Jason’s final episode as the headteacher, he was placed in prison for perverting the course of justice.
The next series will see his character replaced by new headteacher, Dame Stella Drake, played by Lindsey Coulson.

EXCLUSIVE: Sources close to actress Olivia Wilde have revealed her thoughts on her ex man, former One Direction star Harry Styles, and pal Zoe Kravitz are dating
Olivia Wilde’s reaction to Harry Styles’ new romance with Zoe Kravitz has been revealed(Image: Getty Images)
Olivia Wilde’s reaction to her good friend Zoe Kravitz dating her ex Harry Styles has been confirmed. Harry and Zoe have been spotted holding hands and enjoying some intimate time together recently.
It comes following Olivia and Harry’s short-lived romance three years ago. The duo dated between 2021 and November 2022 following growing closer on the set of her movie Don’t Worry Darling.
Now, it appears as though the One Direction man, 31, has moved on with a good pal of his ex’s. And a source has told us that Olivia “doesn’t care”.
The insider said: “She’s moved on which is very clear over the past three years.”

The comment is in contrast to other claims. Another source had told Daily Mail: “It always feels weird to her when Harry starts dating a new celebrity. It’s like, why her? Why does he have to date people she knows? It’s super awkward for her.”
Olivia has moved on from her time with Harry. The actress was most recently linked with Ellie Goulding’s ex Caspar Jopling. The pair were spotted kissing during a cosy night out in London’s Notting Hill earlier this month.
During a dinner in London last week, the actress and director, 41, and 33-year-old Caspar shared a smooth. The pair had initially spent over three hours together before leaving in a taxi.
Friends claimed Olivia and Caspar have been quietly seeing each other since early July. It’s thought their dates have mostly taken place in Notting Hill, where Caspar has investments in two well-known spots – The Pelican and The Fat Badger.
It’s said, meanwhile, that Harry has been introduced to Zoe’s famous dad, Lenny Kravitz. Harry and Zoe aren’t playing down their romance rumours and were recently spotted as they stepped out in Brooklyn together arm in arm.
It came after they were first spotted on what looked like a date in Soho, London where they were “snogging like teenagers”. Batman actress Zoe is said to be “whisked off her feet” by charming Harry and is said to be keen to hear her dad’s opinion.
The trio headed for lunch together and a source said of Harry and Zoe: “They both like each other and friends don’t know who likes each other more but it is turning into something more than just a casual situation.

Speaking to Daily Mail, the source added: “They might not want to think it is, but surprise surprise, it is getting interesting.”
The insider went on: “Even with the lack of labels, or labels that aren’t official boyfriend and girlfriend status, they are just kidding themselves, their friends see this could be something special and if they want to make it into that, they should.”
The Mirror went behind the scenes at the star-studded National Television Awards afterparty to find out all of the showbiz gossip from the biggest night in telly
The National Television Awards returned on Wednesday night with a rainy red carpet reception at London’s 02, and Mirror went behind the scenes at the star-studded bash to find out all of the showbiz gossip.
A glamorous Davina McCall was one of the first to arrive, and her partner of six years Michael Douglas dropped a bombshell when he told us the couple could be set to walk down the aisle, in a surprising U-turn statement. “There could be wedding bells on the way, who knows, I’m not going anywhere else if that’s why you mean,” said the hairdresser when asked if they would tie the knot.
“But we’re in no rush for any of that, we just enjoy each other’s company.” While Michael might be hoping to get down on one knee, Davina remained coy on the subject when she told us last month that getting married was “not important anymore”, admitting: “We’re in the honeymoon period even after all these years, exactly. I am really, really…I couldn’t be more happy. And sometimes there’s an idea of, why change anything?”
As hairdresser to the stars Michael was divulging on his relationship ahead of the awards ceremony, his other half was gallivanting down the other end of the red carpet. Tripping over her heel on the way, Davina let slip an expletive, before referencing her iconic Big Brother opener as she joked, “Oops, I’m always the one who says, ‘Do not swear’.

Sam Thompson enjoys ‘cosy chat’ with Love Island star ex Samie Elishi at NTAs
Someone who isn’t looking to walk down the aisle anytime soon is Helen Flanagan, who told us she’d be happy with a first date. “I’m open to dating, but I’m so busy with the kids. When you’re 19 you can go out in Manchester and come home with a boyfriend a few days later, but I’m 35 now, I’m not really going to go on a night out, am I, really?” said the former Coronation Street actress.
“It’s harder as you get older, and when you’re a mum you’re so busy – I’m just busy with my kids and work all of the time. But I am open to it” Continuing that another stint on Channel 4 show Celebs Go Dating – which she starred on last year – could be on the cards, Helen said, “I would definitely do celebs go dating again, I think I was quite iconic on it, so why not?”
Inside the awards ceremony, which saw surprise wins from the likes of Molly-Mae Hague and Gary Lineker, Maura Higgins had an awkward reunion with her I’m A Celeb co-star Danny Jones as they accepted the Reality Competition gong for the ITV show. The pair kept as far apart as possible on stage, and both appear to have implemented a ‘no afterparties’ rule as they both failed to continue the celebrations after the show, six months on from their BRITs afterparty kiss.
Maura might have been glad to steer clear, as her ex Pete Wicks was out in full force at the exclusive afterparty alongside his best pal Sam Thompson. The pair mingled with fellow TV stars while enjoying some civilised Heinekens, but firmly placed themselves away from any drama and stuck beside one another.
Although, Sam was shooting glances over to his former flame Samie Elishi during the bash, and we hear they caught up in the smoking area before slipping out together. That was as eventful as the unusually tame afterparty got, with many celebrities favouring an early night while soap favourites such as Bobby Brazier let their hair down while snacking on fish and chips during the party.
The Mirror went behind the scenes at Emmerdale’s latest Dingle wedding and discovers bride to be Gabby has a massive secret she’s been hiding from confused Vinny
It was my hottest ticket this year – an invite to Emmerdale to go behind the scenes of a Dingle wedding. Set against the backdrop of rolling Yorkshire hills, the tranquil landscape starkly contrasts with the turbulent storyline.
For the past couple of weeks, viewers have seen Gabby Thomas and Vinny Dingle preparing for their Emmerdale nuptials – to be screened on Monday. (September 15).
Right now, Vinnie seems to be running very late … Confused about his sexuality, Vinny ( Bradley Johnson) has been worrying about going ahead. And viewers will find out next week that his bride Gabby (Rosie Bentham) is hiding a massive secret too – but, sadly, that cliffhanger is all I can reveal!
Suffice it to say, if Vinny does come out, it will be familiar territory for Gabby …

Mirror’s Sanjeeta with Bradley Johnson, Lisa Riley and Rosie Bentham
Her last ‘big day’ in 2022, after she fell for nanny Nicky Fox – only to discover he was Caleb Miligan’s secret son and part of a seduction conspiracy to get his hands on her ex-mother-in-law Kim Tate’s money (with Gabby’s son Thomas being her direct heir) – ended with him revealing the con and the fact he was gay!
Right now, just eight miles from Leeds, the purpose-built Emmerdale village is buzzing with action, as I approach the famous Woolpack pub, where I spot the three mothers of the bride – Gabby’s stepmother, Laurel Thomas, Kim Tate, and her biological mum Bernice Blackstock, who is making a shock return.
Poor Laurel is on crutches after tripping in tomorrow’ s episode ( Friday September 12).
But I’m more interested in the battle of the headwear … Kim’s huge hat and Bernice’s fluorescent pink chapeau!
I spot Rosie, who plays Gabby, wearing a dressing gown over her wedding dress, and she shows me around the village hair and make-up room – next door to Mandy Dingle’s beauty salon, PampaManda.
The wedding guests panic that Vinny is a no show as Kammy [SHEBZ MIAH] leaves him a worried voicemail. Gabby Thomas [ROSIE BENTHAM] is dumbstruck when she arrives at the Church, only to be told by Kammy that Vinny isn’t there. Reeling from Vinny being a no-show, Gabby is beside herself.
Among all the eyeshadows and lipsticks, I spy rows of root cover sprays in every colour imaginable. I guess the fast pace of filming leaves little time for the case to visit a colourist! Emmerdale hair and make-up artist Nadine, is creating Rosie’s bridal ‘up- do, while we chat.
Rosie tells me: “The hair for this wedding and the dress is more sleek and simple. Less showy than the last one.”
Claire King and Charlotte Bellamy on set
Rosie says Bernice – whose third husband, businessman Lawrence White (John Bowe) revealed he was gay in 2016 – will be dropping a “bit of a bombshell,” adding: “Gabby is glad to see her. Bernice has been through similar things.”
If the groom makes it to the altar, Gabby will be given away by her younger brother Arthur (Alfie Clarke).
“It’s a really touching moment as her dad, Ashley (John Middleton), is not here,” says Rosie. “I think this story with Vinny for Gabby and viewers is going to be the most hard-hitting.”
Despite being just 24, Rosie seems very mature, laughing: “Being in Emmerdale since I was 15 does that! It’s a very adult job – you have to be reliable, work long hours, but I love every second.
“Gabby is strong and sarcastic and sees herself as a mini Kim Tate. She would love a solid family set up with Vinny.
“The only thing I don’t like about Gabby is that she is a really dreadful mum to Thomas (her son with Jamie Tate). She hasn’t had the best role model in Bernice.
Mirror’s Sanjeeta chatting to Rosie Bentham who plays Gabby Thomas in the make up room in Emmerdale
On Gabby’s first wedding Rosie says. ” Gabby was naive but she really loves Vinny,” before revealing: “There is a certain secret that Gabby is also hiding. Gabby is always looking for that extra little bit of gratification – like her mum.
“But I do hope Gabby gets her happy ending. Otherwise, she’ll be sworn off from men for life!”
Queuing in the canteen at lunchtime, I am drawn to Emmerdale legend Kim Tate (Claire King).
Actress Rosie Bentham with hair and make up artist Nadine Al-Samarraie Walsh.
“We always love going to the village to film because they do such fabulous food here,” she laughs.
Choosing fajitas, while I have fish, chips, scraps, mushy peas, and curry sauce, she adds: “It’s quite a walk from the main village set to the canteen and back, but it’s a good excuse to walk your lunch off, so you can’t really complain!”
Explaining her character’s fall out with Gabby, over Kim’s plan to take over Moira Dingle’s farm, Claire says: “ Kim felt betrayed, but they make up in time for the wedding. She loves Gabby. She is Kim’s surrogate daughter, really, because she’s moulded her into a kind of mini me.
“She’s educated her in ways of business, and she’s a smart cookie. She has her own business now, and I think Kim’s very proud of her and does see her as a daughter. And of course, Thomas, her son, is Kim’s only biological grandchild.”
Vinny Dingle [BRADLEY JOHNSON] is filled with panic when Gabby Thomas [ROSIE BENTHAM] arrives at the Salon to tell him something is wrong and has been for a while.
When asked how many weddings she has filmed since joining Emmerdale in 1994, Claire says: “It’s got to be over a dozen, half of which are probably mine! My most memorable was Kim’s wedding to Frank Tate in the gothic splendour of Ripon Cathedral.
“That was a big wedding. My mother actually turned up—she was a walk-on for the day. That was full on top hat and tails, the full regalia – when we had a budget!”
Back on set, I see Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) on the warpath – furious that Vinny hasn’t yet turned up for his wedding.
During a break, we chat on The Woolpack bench.
Lisa – who is dolled up as mother-of-the-groom – says: “The idea that Gabby could be jilted twice is harsh, but as Vinny’s mother, Mandy wants him to be happy. Vinny is bisexual and figuring things out, but Mandy will be over the moon to have a gay son.
“People are still frightened to come out, but if there is anyone in the world you’d want to come out to, it would be Mandy Dingle – she’d be so supportive and understanding.”
Her hubby Paddy (Dominic Brunt) also seems to be missing.
“Paddy is in bed with food poisoning after Mandy made a bad bhuna!” chuckles Lisa, who’s played Mandy for 30 years.
She had a stint away from the Dales from 2001 to 2019 hosting You’ve Been Framed as well as appearing in dramas, and says: “I never intended to come back, but the producers asked me to film for a few months, so Mandy could introduce her son Vinny. Seven years later, I am still here! It feels like I never left—the catering girls still remember me.
Mirror’s Sanjeeta with Best Man Emmerdale’s Kammy played by Shebz Miah
“The young cast members now come to me for advice. I tell them you can have a laugh but you need to know what you’re doing. As you’ve seen, we work very fast!”
And she loves playing Mandy, who is sporting “Ariana Grande-esque” hair and a silver “diva gown” for the wedding, adding: “Every day is her dress-up day for Mandy, but today is special. Vinny is her only son, so this is important for her.”
Lisa, 49, reveals: “Whatever Mandy wears, it sells out, it’s crazy! Ian, our head designer, Val, our seamstress and head of make-up and design, Clare – we all work closely together curating Mandy’s look – whatever is current on TikTok we’ll emulate.
“The last wedding we did was Aaron and John’s wedding. The lime green creation I wore sold out within days after the scene aired!”
Meanwhile, Lisa is remaining tight-lipped on whether Vinny and Gabby will enjoy a happy ever after.
I spot Bradley, who plays Vinny- and he is the only character not dressed up. Is this a sign?
He tells me: “I’m not filming at the moment, that’s all, but thought I’d come and say hello!
“Vinny is so confused about what to do for the best – for him and Gabby. He is worried about letting Gabby down, or is he going to hurt her by living a lie.”
Bradley, who joined the Dingles in 2022, continues: ”I originally auditioned to play the part of Lachlan White, who was quite a psycho (he terrorised the village from 2014 to 2019 and is currently behind bars).
Sanjeeta with Bradley Johnson who plays groom to be Vinny Dingle
Losing out on the role to Tom Atkinson, a few years later he was cast as Vinny. “Everybody wants to be a Dingle! We have our own Dingle WhatsApp group – it really is like a second family and Lisa is like a second mother to me,” he says.
Returning to his storyline, he adds: “Vinny does love Gabby. That’s why he’s been looking for answers – he wants to be sure before he has to break her heart. “And I do think viewers will be very surprised by what happens.”

Sophie Turner puts on united front with boyfriend after split rumours
Sophie Turner joined her boyfriend Peregrine Pearson at a press event in a display of unity after rumours swirled that the pair had split and the Game of Thrones star had joined celeb dating app Raya.
This appearance together at the launch of his family estate’s cookbook on Wednesday (10 September) was the first time they had been seen with each other since Glastonbury in June. In the couple’s absence from the public eye, it was claimed that Sophie joined the exclusive celebrity dating app Raya.
This came after news Sophie had unfollowed Peregrine on Instagram, leading many to believe the couple had split. But, this week, the actress, 29, and her aristocrat boyfriend, 30, showed everyone they were very much still together. The pair took a number of photos together at the event with their arms around each other.

Whilst Peregrine does not work in the entertainment industry, his family still have links as his father, Michael Pearson, the 4th Viscount Cowdray, is a former film producer. Among others, Michael produced Sympathy For The Devil, a 1968 film featuring The Rolling Stones and directed by Jean-Luc Goddard.
Sophie, who first found fame as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, first revealed she was dating Peregrine in December 2023, shortly after the end of her marriage to Joe Jonas. In November of 2024, it was claimed that Sophie had said she would love to have children with her current partner and believed he was “the one”. She already has two children with her ex-husband – Willa and Delphine.
Joe is part of a pop band with his brothers Nick and Kevin, called Jonas Brothers. The band has had some hits, including Sucker and a cover of the Busted song Year 3000. They were also Disney Channel stars, appearing in films like Camp Rock and their own TV series.

Joe and Sophie finalised their divorce in September 2024. Afterwards, an insider said: “Sophie wants her happy ever after. Joe wasn’t it.
“Peregrine seems to be the one, and she would love to have children with him one day, and the likelihood of that happening is pretty good. They will certainly try.”
