Arnold Schwarzenegger, the voice of the titular villain in the German dub of Terminator, was told he couldn’t play the role. Producers were a little skeptical of the action star veteran’s accent after his first solo performance as the robot sent back in time.
The actor was not permitted to translate Schwarzenegger’s performance into German, despite the fact that it may be one of his many recognizable screen appearances. The expense caused this, not because Schwarzenegger’s accent is “too ridiculous” for audiences to take seriously.
