Carol McGiffin tears into Loose Women and says she knows reason behind ITV budget cuts

Former Loose Women star Carol McGiffin has slammed the ITV show and others including This Morning and Good Morning Britain as ‘rubbish’

Carol McGiffin hasn’t held back in her criticism of ITV’s daytime lineup, branding shows like Loose Women, This Morning, and Good Morning Britain as “rubbish” and out of touch with audiences.

Speaking on Dan Wootton’s Outspoken podcast, the former Loose Women regular, who appeared on and off between 2000 and 2023, slammed ITV for reportedly trying to win back viewers by bringing in influencers.

“They can stand there and say, ‘The reason that we’re suffering is because of online TV, people don’t watch TV anymore, they go online for news or entertainment or anything, or streaming services,’” she said. “Maybe it’s just because it’s rubbish and they just aren’t very good at it anymore. They don’t consider that. ”

Carol returned to Loose Women with high hopes, but was left disappointed. “When I went back to Loose Women, I thought, ‘This is great, we might be able to make Loose Women great again. ’ But it just proved completely impossible. ”

She added: “Sometimes, if I’ve ever seen anything on This Morning or on YouTube or whatever, you just think, ‘This is ridiculous! This is not popular. This is not what people want. ’”

Taking aim at ITV’s strategy, she said: “They really don’t know what people want, and they tell them what they want all the time and they give it to them and force it down their throats. ”

She also criticized ITV’s assumption that influencers would attract younger viewers: “A lot of young people never watch television… The fact that ITV thinks, ‘If we get all these young influencers on, everyone’s going to start watching daytime TV,’ is just ridiculous. ”

Addressing recent job cuts and shortened programming – Loose Women will air just 30 weeks a year from 2026 – Carol said she feels “really bad” for those affected but questioned the dramatic reactions from her former co-stars.

“The Loose Women are apparently raging about it – I haven’t spoken to any of them about it. They are like, ‘We were kept in the dark. ’ They never know what’s going on. Loose Women is the poor relation so is suffering the most. ”

She added: “I do feel for them, but I don’t buy into this, ‘All their worlds have fallen apart because this show has ended. ’ Hang on a minute – what did you expect? Did you think it was just going on forever? Especially in the way it is. ”

Carol’s comments come as ITV is making significant cuts to its daytime programming, including reducing the number of weeks that Loose Women and Lorraine air, as well as merging the production teams behind Lorraine, This Morning, and Loose Women.

These changes are part of a broader cost-cutting effort, which will also see some presenters like Andi Peters and Jeff Brazier no longer sent on location for competitions. The changes have led to staff redundancies and concerns about the future of the shows.

Oasis’ Liam Gallagher denies soundcheck vocals are his after ‘bigmouth’ remark

The Oasis Live ’25 Tour is bringing together Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher, who has addressed speculation over soundchecks from the Principality Stadium in Cardiff this week

Soundchecks have been heard coming from the Principality Stadium lately ahead of Oasis’ first reunion gig at the venue in Cardiff. Liam Gallagher has since addressed speculation that he’s been rehearsing there with Noel Gallagher.

The song Cigarettes and Alcohol could be heard coming from the stadium on Monday, ahead of Friday’s opening night show on the Oasis Live ’25 Tour, as reported by WalesOnline. It sparked rumours that Liam and Noel have been there together to rehearse for their first shows in more than a decade.

Liam responded to a video of the apparent soundchecks on X yesterday. He wrote: “Mmm I’m not sure about the vocals there too aggressive he really needs to take a chill pill man he’s just so angry all the time I don’t know who he thinks he is as far as I’m concerned he’s just a bigmouth from up north. “

When asked by a fan to seemingly “confirm or deny” if it was him rehearsing, Liam replied on the platform: “I’ve been in my pool all day doing under water farts so it’s defo a recording from rehearsals unless there’s 2 of me which I’m absolutely 1 million per cent here for well there for as well. “

Liam however could be joking with fans, so it’s possible that the Gallagher brothers are in Cardiff already after all. His comment suggests that isn’t the case though.

Preparations at the Principality Stadium are already in full swing, highlighted by a seven-days-to-go video released last week. A comprehensive soundtrack is expected later this week.

Ahead of Oasis’ first comeback gig, the Mirror revealed just days ago that the band, which includes Liam, Noel, new drummer Joey Waronker and guitarists Andy Bell, Gem Archer and Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, are gearing up to ensure they sound their best on the tour.

A source told us: “With a new line up and it being such a huge first show, the boys will do some songs inside the venue too. Some tours would start with a smaller show or take a week or two to get into the groove again. “

They went on to say that the brothers want each show to be “massive”. The source continued by saying: “But there is no time for that and also Liam and Noel want every night to be massive. “

Further commenting on the tour, the source added: “This is such a huge comeback show and they are taking it very seriously. It all points to it being an incredible comeback tour. “

Jason Manford hits out at hotel’s ‘ridiculous policy’ after being forced to share room

Comedian Jason Manford hits out at a Bournemouth hotel for selling his room to another guest after he arrived ‘late’

Jason Manford hit out at a hotel’s ‘ridiculous policy’ after he had to share a room with a friend because it was overbooked. The comedian, 44, was in Bournemouth on Saturday before his A Manford All Seasons show but the staff at the hotel told him the place was overbooked for the night.

Staff at the Village Hotel told Jason his room was sold to someone else as he arrived late. Because of the issue, he was forced to share a room with his friend Steve. “So we got to our hotel tonight in Bournemouth and it’s fully booked. We were like, ‘Fine, that’s good – well done you’,” he said.

“They went, ‘No, no, as in like without you’. So me and Steve, obviously [we’re] in separate rooms. And then we just discovered that basically if it’s fully booked it means that, [you have to share].

“Okay, don’t worry, it is what it is, these things happen – all that b******t! I mean we spent all day together! Oh, well, at least we’ve got a nice view of the car park. Oh well, these things happen and all that. Worse things happen at sea. But Village Hotel, just beware, if you are booking and it’s a busy day in a busy city…

“I mean, we’re lucky that [our booking] was two rooms because that fella coming behind us, a doctor as well, and no room for him. He just had to walk out, and like and there’s no rooms anywhere in Bournemouth tonight. Naughty that, naughty. I’ve heard of aeroplanes doing it, but I’ve never known in 25 years of touring, a hotel doing it. That’s not on, that is not on. “

He then showed the bedroom he was staying in and added: “So we’ve managed to make best of our situation. But that poor doctor, maybe he could sleep on the floor! Anyway, good night. ” In the caption, he said: “What’s your minimum expectation when you book a room at @Villagehotelsup? Staff were lovely but policy stinks! “

Jason returned to social media the next day to reveal the hotel management had been in touch and asked him to remove the video. He refused to take down the video and said he wanted to warn people about the company’s practice. Jason also reminded fans it wasn’t the staff’s fault, but the company’s itself.

“What I will say is it’s not the staff’s fault. And this is the problem with these big companies. That is somebody in an office, making a policy that makes them more money, but they don’t have to deal with the s**t,” he said to the camera.

“I didn’t kick off, but I can imagine people would. So the staff then have to deal with upset customers and getting vitriol in heightened emotional situations. So I’m not going to take the video down, because I think it’s right that people know that’s what your company are doing.

“And I’m going to leave it up as a bit of support for the staff, who aren’t being paid as much as the person who made the decision is and how much that person is making out of this ridiculous policy. So bear that in mind if these things do happen, same with an aeroplane. We’ve all been there, we’ve all been in a moment where the person we’re in contact with is the person that’s going to get it.

“But we have to take a step back sometimes, just remember that person is just doing their job and they don’t like it either. In fact that’s what the manager said to me last night, ‘I don’t like this either, I hate it’. It takes a video like this and us talking about it for them, hopefully to have a little look at their policies and think maybe this is not in the best interest of our staff and certainly not of the customer. “

Iconic film The Devil Wears Prada is in the works for a second sequel after almost 20 years, but a famous face won’t be returning as part of the star-studded cast.

After years of speculation and some hints in between, it has finally been confirmed. The Devil Wears Prada will have a second sequel, but a controversial character won’t be returning.

A sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is on its way after almost two decades since its debut. The happy news was shared by 20th Century Studios, who surprised viewers by also saying that production had already begun.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, the famous cast will consist of Hollywood and returning stars, Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. Of course, the storyline will be directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna. However, one face that won’t be reprising his role is Adrian Grenier.

Grenier portrayed Nate Cooper in the 2006 film, Andy Sachs’ (Anna Hathaway) boyfriend from university. At the beginning of the film, both were portrayed as a happy couple with professional careers, Andy as a journalist at Runway magazine under Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) and Nate as a sous chef.

Throughout the film, his relationship with Andy became tricky as her career took off, creating a few fights as well as a temporary breakup, following her late arrival at his birthday celebration.

Even though the couple ended up reconciling, viewers labelled Nate’s character as the “true villain” for his lack of support. Towards the end of the film, the couple goes their separate ways, as Andy pursues her career in New York, and Nate takes a job in Boston.

Fans expressed their excitement amid the sequel news. Some were happy that Nate’s character wouldn’t interfere with Andy’s career, but others were hoping he would make a return.

A fan commented: “The real villain of the film. Jarlsberg was more important to him than Andy. ” A second one, added: “Good, and he can take his burnt grilled cheese with him. ”

Another viewer wrote on X: “Nate never was the real villain in devil wears prada and if you think he was, you completely missed the point of the story. ”

“Nate Cooper will be missed in ‘THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2’. Adrian Grenier’s character was special in the film, the fun will be incomplete without him! ”

During the cast’s 2021 reunion, Grenier spoke about his character being considered the villain of the story. He said: “All those memes that came out were shocking to me. It hadn’t occurred to me until I started to really think about it, and perhaps it was because I was as immature as Nate was at the time and in many ways he’s very selfish and self-involved, it was all about him, he wasn’t extending himself to support Andy in her career.”

“At the end of the day, it’s just a birthday, right? It’s not the end of the world,” he added. The actor explained that he didn’t realise how immature his actions were until he came much older and had “time to reflect and much deliberation.”

The 2006 film was adapted from former Vogue assistant Lauren Weisberger’s book of the same name. She worked for Anna Wintour, Vogue’s former Editor-in-Chief, who recently stepped down from her position in the iconic magazine after 37 years.

A release date is yet to be announced. However, according to the reports, the movie is expected to be released in 2026.

Why I Chose Natasha, Ended My Marriage To Annie – 2Baba

Nigerian music icon Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia has opened up about his decision to end his marriage to Annie Macaulay and begin a new chapter with Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly.

The 49-year-old singer revealed that his choice of Natasha had nothing to do with physical attraction, but rather her character and emotional compatibility.

“I’m not particular about a woman’s physical appearance, though it’s a plus. For me, what matters is having someone I can talk to without fear, someone who won’t get angry unnecessarily, and someone I can laugh with.

“That’s all. I want someone I can be completely honest with. We wouldn’t be together if Natasha didn’t have all these qualities. If any woman disrespects me or does rubbish, I will walk away from her,” 2Baba said in an interview on the 234 Mzansi podcast.

His relationship with Natasha came to public attention five months ago, and he proposed to her on the eve of Valentine’s Day. This came shortly after he announced his separation from Annie, his wife of 12 years, on 27 January.

Since then, the singer and the lawmaker have appeared publicly on several occasions, often praising each other’s professions and values.

2Baba, who currently serves as the Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, also spoke about his split from Annie.

2Baba

He made it clear that his decisions were not influenced by public opinion but guided by what he believed was best for himself and his children.

“The mothers of my children are amazing people. Annie is amazing, and the person I’m with now is also amazing. Everybody has strength, beauty, and unique qualities — that’s how I see life. But people are the ones who create all these unnecessary dramas.

“Annie and I had a good bond. She’s an amazing and wonderful person, but it wasn’t working anymore. Annie and I gave it our best. The reason we’re no longer together isn’t something I want to start discussing here. We have our understanding, and she is amazing. It just wasn’t working anymore, that’s the simple truth,” he said.

The singer stressed that society should not pressure couples to stay in unhappy marriages. He further urged couples facing marital challenges to be open about their struggles rather than remain in silence due to societal expectations.

“If a marriage is not working, the couple should try to fix it, but if it still doesn’t work, I don’t think anyone should be forced to stay. Only the couple inside the marriage truly knows what they are going through. It’s always best not to let society dictate your feelings.

“This thing they call ‘living in bondage’ is real. Many people have gone to their graves living in bondage. Many couples are struggling, but they stay because they are afraid of what society will say,” he said.

Monogamy

In a controversial but familiar stance, 2Baba revisited his view on male sexuality, claiming men are naturally not wired to be sexually committed to just one woman.

“I’ve said this before, and I got into trouble for it, but I don’t care to say it again: man was not built to be sexually with just one woman. A man’s heart, respect, and love can belong to one woman, but sexually, it’s impossible for a man. A man can genuinely love a woman completely but still find it difficult to be with only her sexually.

“Some individuals may choose to live differently, but I’m talking about the natural biology of a man. If anyone wants to argue with me, no problem… A man has many seeds and can’t just drop them for one woman,” he stated.

Annie, who confirmed their split publicly during the 17th edition of The Headies Awards in Lagos on 28 April, was married to 2Baba for over a decade. Their relationship spanned more than 20 years, having met in 1999 before evolving from friendship into romance.

She gained widespread fame in 2004 after featuring in the singer’s iconic African Queen music video. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Isabella, in 2008. They got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2012 and had a private wedding later that year.

Their grand white wedding took place in Dubai on 23 March 2013, followed by the birth of their second daughter, Olivia, in 2014.
