Reality TV star Maura Higgins went out for lunch with Love Island fan Margot Robbie this week. She’s revealed to fans on social media that the actor invited her to a gathering recently, where they enjoyed some drinks together.

Maura, 34, shared this afternoon that she had met up with Margot, 34 – who has previously described her as one of her favourite contestants from the ITV2 show – recently. Maura posted content from the occasion on her Instagram Story today. Alongside a photo showing herself in a white outfit with a pair of sunglasses on, Maura wrote: “When Margot Robbie invites you to lunch … you go.”

She tagged gin brand Papa Salt, co-founded by Margot, in the post on the platform.

Maura then shared footage of those at the event doing cheers as they held shot glasses whilst sat at a table. Margot was visible in the video and said “cheers guys” before the others joined in. Maura wrote about the experience in the caption: “Got me on shots at 2pm WHAT A WOMAN!!! “!

In the video shared with fans by Maura, a bottle of Papa Salt gin could be seen as well as several cans of Blood Orange gin spritz. The latter drink has been released by the brand recently in collaboration with Fever-Tree.

Margot has spoken about being a fan of Love Island over the years and Maura’s ex Chris Taylor, 34, even had a cameo in her film Barbie, which was released in 2023. Margot is said to have wanted him to be in it after meeting him in 2020.

Maura has been described as one of Margot’s “favourite” islanders of all time alongside Olivia Attwood, 33. Speaking about Love Island in 2021, Margot told People that the third series – which aired in 2017 – was her favourite at the time.

She said: “If I had to pick a favourite season, I’d say season three. If I had to pick favourite contestants of all time, I’d probably say Liv from season three, and Maura from season five. They’re probably my two favourites of all time”.

Maura appeared on the fifth series of Love Island, which aired in 2019. She reached the final with her now ex-partner Curtis Pritchard, now 29, but Amber Gill, now 27, and Greg O’Shea, now 30, were crowned the winners instead.

Margot has previously revealed that the show reminds her of when she lived in the UK. She told the Sun back in 2022: “Love Island reminds me of living in London – watching it with my girlfriends when everybody was home from work.”

The former Neighbours star’s lunch with Maura this week comes amid production now being underway on Emerald Fennell’s film adaptation of Wuthering Heights. Margot is thought to be working on the film in the UK at the moment.

Margot is set to star as Catherine Earnshaw in the film – which is based on Emily Brontë’s novel of the same name, published in 1847 – with Jacob Elordi cast as Heathcliff. The casting has proved controversial since it was reported.

‘I took three new mineral face SPFs for sensitive skin on holiday and wore one on repeat’

After what’s felt like years of darkness, the sunshine has finally deciding to show up, meaning it’s time we all started thinking about the ‘ S ‘ word: sun protection. It doesn’t have to be swelteringly hot for UV rays to harm skin, so if you’re heading outside, you need to layer up in a high factor (30 or 50) cream to stop burns and signs of UV-related ageing.

High factor, however, doesn’t have to mean sticky or pasty. These days, sunscreens are more advanced than ever, blending skincare ingredients with quick-to-absorb, serum-like textures. Even mineral suncreams, which have had a bad name in the past for turning even pale skin ashy, are launching by their dozen – each product offering a fresh take on what used to be a product we all dreaded applying.

Here, we’re going to take you through the top new mineral SPF launches for spring/summer 2025, so you can find the very best formula for your skin’s needs…

First, how does a mineral SPF differ from a chemical one?

Mineral (or physical) sunscreens differ from chemical sunscreens in that they use minerals to reflect UV rays, creating a physical barrier, while chemical sunscreens absorb UV rays and convert them into heat. Active ingredients in a chemical SPF include oxybenzone, octinoxate, octisalate, and avobenzone, while a mineral SPF contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.

Because the mineral ingredients sit on the skin rather than getting absorbed into the skin (like the ingredients in a chemical SPF does), they’re considered less likely to cause irritation – especially for those who with reactive skin or sensitivity ti certain chemical ingredients.

Mineral sunscreens are naturally broad-spectrum, meaning they protect against both UVA and UVB rays. These days, chemical SPFs are mostly broad range as well, but it’s always best to check their labels to be sure. Also ensure to reapply both types of sunscreen every few hours as they both do rub and sweat off.

Head of beauty Zoe tests out three new mineral SPFs

The product promises:

Zoe says: “This is specifically developed for sensitive or reactive skin, so I was immediately interested. I can’t use most checmical SPFs because they set my eczema off, so I’m always nervous about wearing a new product for an extended amount of time. I knew the second I applied this one that I’d love it. First of all, it has no real smell – perfect for those of us who can’t tolerate fragrance. It also feels more like a chemical rather than a mineral in the fact that the white cream blends out to a near-invisible layer on my skin. It makes the perfect base for a CC cream, and makes my skin look the perfect level of glowy without any sweaty-looking shine. It’s become my new go-to every morning since I wore it on holiday (almost every day.)”

Ultra Violette Future Fluid SPF 50+ Superlight Mineral Skinscreen

Shop it from SpaceNK for £38

Ultra Violette Future Fluid SPF 50+ Superlight Mineral Skinscreen
Ultra Violette Future Fluid SPF 50+ Superlight Mineral Skinscreen (Ultra Violette)

The product promises:

  • Light in texture– with an invisible, non-chalky finish
  • Helps to brighten the look of dark spots and uneven skin tone
  • Improves skin texture and minimises the appearance of pores

Zoe says: “I really, really like this, which isn’t something I say lightly about an SPF. It’s the perfect balance of hydration and blur, giving my skin a really natural, glowy finish. I was honestly expecting it to feel heavy or chalky, but it’s the complete opposite—it’s so lightweight that I forget I even have it on. It melts right in, no weird white cast, just smooth, healthy-looking skin. If I hadn’t discovered Lancaster a day or two earlier, this might have been a go-to for me. My only critique is that it feels a tad oily and I do think it leaves a bit of residue”.

Kate Somerville HydraKate Illuminating SPF 50+ Drops

Shop it from Cultbeauty for £39

The product promises:

Zoe says: “I really wanted to like this, because I’m such a Kate Somerville superfan, but I was a little disappointed. I fully appreciate that a mineral SPF can never be fully see-through due to the zinc it uses, but I found this one gave my skin a slightly blue-ish tinge. I love how it’s got such a skincare-boosted formula, though – I did feel like my skin felt really healthy while I was wearing it. I also didn’t burn once on the days I applied this, even on my nose where I tend to burn regardless of my diligent SPF application. It’s definitely worth a try if you’re big into skincare or you want an SPF that feels very light and looks more sheer rather than matte”.

‘Friends think I’m selfish for getting divorced and think I should stay for the kids’

Dear Coleen

My husband and I split up a few months ago and we’re living separately. There was no one else involved, but I was the one who pushed for it. I’m in my late 40s and after raising kids for 20 years, the marriage was over for me. We’d drifted apart and while my ex was content to keep limping on, I wanted more for myself and more out of life.

I’m quite a driven personality, while he’s always been content to let life happen. Without the distraction of caring for young kids, it became very clear to me that we had nothing in common any more. My problem is, I’ve had a lot of grief over the divorce from close friends, who’ve judged me over my decision. They’ve clearly sided with my ex and frozen me out socially.

Our youngest child is 14 and she decided to live with her dad, so her schooling wouldn’t be disrupted, and she stays with me at weekends. One of my closest friends called me selfish and said she couldn’t understand why I’d do this to my family at such a crucial time in my daughter’s schooling. This makes me angry – I never asked for these opinions and why should I justify myself?

They’ve made me feel like a bad mum and an evil ex-wife. What can I do to get rid of my anger and move on?

Coleen says

People are very quick to judge aren’t they? I think if there’s no one else involved in a break-up, sometimes they don’t get it. If it’s because of an affair, it’s cut and dried – there is an obvious reason people can get their heads around.

You know you didn’t make your decision on a whim or because you were selfish. I can relate because it’s very similar to what happened to me and my second husband, Ray. We’d had brilliant times together and a good marriage for years, but I realised the glue that held it together was our daughter Ciara.

She was our passion and we were so involved in her life, but when she got older and became more independent, and needed us less, it was a wake-up call. We had nothing to talk about and it became apparent we didn’t share the same interests. I was in my 50s by then, but I didn’t want to “settle” and remain in a situation where we were living separate lives. What’s the point? It’s like living with a lodger.

You’ve made the right decision for you. You can explain to certain people if you want to, but you don’t owe anyone an explanation. I think you’ve been brilliant with your daughter – you’ve respected her wishes and not taken her away from her friends. That’s good parenting.

Use your anger positively to drive you forward and work through it in counselling. If friends have frozen you out, maybe they feel uncomfortable because you made them question their own relationships.

Ruth Langsford revealed that her mum Joan wasn’t able to celebrate Mother’s Day yesterday, and gave an update on Joan’s health after her horror fall and Alzheimer’s diagnosis

Ruth Langsford has shared a worrying message about her beloved mum. The former This Morning star admitted she was having a very different Mother’s Day in an emotional Instagram post, and updated fans about her mum’s health today.

Alongside staying busy with her ITV work, Ruth, 65, also cares for her 94-year-old mum Joan at home – where the duo with Ruth’s dog Maggie after her split from Eamonn Holmes last year.

On Mother’s Day, Ruth shared a clip of Joan dancing in the kitchen, but revealed that it was a throwback video while in reality her mum was struggling with a health issue and wasn’t up to celebrate the big day.

“HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all you wonderful mums out there but especially to my amazing Mum Joan. I’m sharing an old video because unfortunately Mum’s not well… she’s got a nasty chest infection so she’s not up to celebrating today”, she wrote in her caption.

“Maggie and I are with her though and giving her lots of TLC. I’m sure she’ll be back peeling the veg, dancing and drinking sherry in my kitchen very soon. Hope you’re all having a lovely day with your Mum if you’re fortunate, like me, to have her”.

Many of Ruth’s famous friends sent love her way, with Vanessa Feltz writing: “Happiest of days to you and your gorgeous mum.”

Josie Gibson left a string of heart emojis under the post, while Kate Thornton penned: “Wishing her better and Happy Mother’s Day.”

Today, Loose Women star Ruth shared an update on her Stories, capturing a quick clip of Joan sitting on the sofa and stroking Maggie, who sat closely beside her. “Nurse Maggie,” Ruth wrote. She added: “Mum still not well but she says thank you for all your lovely messages!”

Joan’s chest infection comes after she was rushed to hospital with a broken pelvis after a fall, and wasn’t able to join Ruth for Christmas.

She was able to head back home in January, but still needs plenty of love and care due to her Alzheimer’s. While Joan is living with the condition, Ruth also lost her father, Dennis, to dementia in 2012.

Ruth admitted that she struggles with crippling fears for her own health, worrying that she too might also be diagnosed with the condition.

“I’m a bit ‘ head in the sand ‘ about Alzheimer’s. Both my parents have had it, I know what it entails and it horrifies me”, she said in Woman &amp, Home’s March edition.

“There’s a test you can do to see if you’re more likely to get it, but, because there’s no medication to treat it, I’d rather not know. When I have senior moments, as people call them, I panic. Then I let it go, because I can’t bear to think about that”.

Meghan Markle finally announces when her jam will go on sale after twist in charity row

Meghan Markle has sent a brand new newsletter to her followers about her new lifestyle brand As Ever, making a major announcement – as a charity row engulfing her and Prince Harry rages on

Meghan Markle has made a major announcement about her lifestyle brand – ignoring the bitter charity row that’s engulfing her and Prince Harry. The Duchess of Sussex, who revealed her As Ever business earlier this year, has revealed that she is introducing her collection of products this week.

The product line, which comes off the back of her panned Netflix show With Love, Meghan, includes a raspberry spread, honey, flower sprinkles and cookie and crepe mixes. And in a newsletter sent to fans today, Meghan says she is “so excited to introduce the As ever collection to you this week”.

The newsletter comes as Meghan has now become embroiled in an almost week-long row that has engulfed Sentebale, the charity her husband set up almost 20 years ago but has now dramatically quit amid an explosive row with the organisation’s chair Dr Sophie Chandauka.

But seemingly publicly ignoring the spat, Meghan has pressed ahead with the launch of her eagerly awaited products, which she says can help fans “mimic the magic of Montecito in a way you can recreate at home”.

She writes: “Every item is inspired by the ways I show care to the people in my life, like the lemon ginger tea blend which is a fuss-free spin on the warm drink I make at home using fresh lemons from the garden. Or the crepe mix that transforms a typical weekend breakfast into a chance to reminisce.

” Crepes remind me of my time backpacking through France as a student. Biting into these streetside thin pancakes – filled with chocolate, fruit, fresh lemon and powdered sugar, or made savoury with ham and cheese – they truly are a canvas for flavour. I wanted to bring that memory and experience to you at home. (Also, they’re so easy to make!) “

Although the products set to launch are shown on the As Ever website, as yet there are no prices or information on how to buy them. But Meghan adds:” I hope when you see what I’ve worked so hard to create, you’re encouraged to know that whatever life brings, you can do it too. Your value, your creativity, your joy – that is you, as it’s always been and always will be. You are you – As ever, and forever.

“Someone once told me the biggest risk you can take is deciding not to take one at all. Now, after careful planning and preparing (while also parenting! ), it’s time to bring As ever from my home to yours so you can make the everyday exceptional in an easy yet meaningful way”.

The newsletter comes today where there has been another twist in Harry’s charity row. It has now been claimed that Harry sent an ‘ unpleasant ‘ message to the head of his former African charity after she refused to publicly defend his wife Meghan.

The Duke of Sussex dramatically quit as patron of Sentebale, an HIV charity he founded almost 20 years ago and has become embroiled in a public spat with Dr Sophie Chandauka, the organisation’s chair.

She issued a blistering statement of her own, criticising the move by Harry, co-founder Prince Seeiso of Lesotho and the trustees of the charity to step down. And in an interview yesterday, she claimed that after an awkward moment between her and Meghan was captured on camera at a polo match to raise funds for Sentebale last year, she was asked to issue a statement by Harry’s team defending the duchess.

She said she refused the request saying “we cannot become an extension of the Sussex machine”. Now it has been reported that after Dr Chandauka’s refusal, Harry allegedly sent her a direct message asking her to “explain herself”.

Sources told The Telegraph that the message was “unpleasant in tone” and used ‘imperious’ language leaving the charity chair “taken aback”. The publication reports that this dispute is believed to have contributed to the bitter row that has engulfed the charity. The Mirror has approached the Sussexes for comment.

In an interview on Sky News yesterday, Dr Chandauka addressed the polo fundraiser in Florida claiming that Meghan had only decided to turn up at short notice – bringing her “very famous friend” Serena Williams with her.

Since Dr Chandauka’s interview yesterday, representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not commented. However, a source close to the former trustees and patrons of Sentebale dismissed her comments as a “publicity stunt”. They added: “They remain firm in their resignation, for the good of the charity, and look forward to the adjudication of the truth”.

‘Prince Harry’s texts are painfully predictable and the Meghan irony is astounding’

Prince Harry has been heavily criticised by Dr Sophie Chandauka – and according to a royal expert, the charity chair’s remarks about the Duke are ‘ predictable ‘ and ‘ very disappointing ‘

Prince Harry is back at the centre of a fire storm(Image: PA)

Prince Harry is at the centre of an extraordinary public spat that has seen him and his charity chair “tear each other apart.” The crisis unfolded last week when Harry sensationally quit as a patron of Sentebale, the beloved charity he set up to help young children in Lesotho, along with trustees, amid a boardroom battle.

He co-founded Sentebale in 2006 in honour of his mother, the late Princess Diana, and the ordeal has reportedly left him “torn apart.” Chair Dr Sophie Chandauka has publicly condemned Harry in a blistering attack, accusing him of ‘bullying’ while stating there has been “poor governance, weak executive management, abuse of power, harassment and misogyny” at the organisation. The allegations have been refuted.

Article continues below

British historian and royal expert Dr Tessa Dunlop claims their “public scorched earth policy is difficult to watch, with the charity of a small impoverished African state the biggest loser.” She told the Mirror: “And therein lies the real tragedy of this melodrama: amidst the blame and counter blame, the accusations of bullying, harassment and misrepresentation.

Dr Sophie Chandauka

” Rather than waiting for rulings from the Charity Commission and High Court, Chandauka is publicly fighting back – including weaponising the Sussexes ‘ words against them, berating their use of the ‘ very press they disdain, to harm people who have the courage to challenge their conduct”.

And the Sussexes ‘ brand has come under the spotlight once more, with Dr Chandauka branding it ‘ toxic’. Tessa continued:” Even for those of us keen to give the Prince the benefit of the doubt, a pattern of entitlement and truculence is emerging. It turns out there was something in the TikTok rumours that railed against Meghan when she appeared to move Dr Chandauka out of the picture at that Miami polo match.

“The Duchess and Chandauka were seemingly having a standoff. In other words, the bad blood extended beyond ire towards the Prince’s management style, and included Meghan herself. How predictable. And how very disappointing.

“Prince Harry who, beyond Invictus, is little more than the husband of an influencer these days, needs to have a long hard think about where next. The most recent spat has left him with precious little wriggle room. Accusations of misogyny and bullying will go down like a lead balloon in their favoured liberal circles. It is deeply ironic that in 2016 Harry accused the British press of ‘abuse and harassment’ against his girlfriend, the very same terms that Sentebale’s chairperson has levelled against the Prince.”

She further claimed:” More broadly, while Chandauka’s numerous interviews has done her few favours, longer term questions over the direction of travel for the charity are a reminder that Princes who want to ‘ save Africa ‘ are no longer the order of the day. Given his track record for raising awareness and funds, it would be a crying shame if this latest derailment marks the beginning of the end for Harry’s ‘ life of service’. “

It comes after the Telegraph claimed that Dr Chandauka’s refusal to issue a statement in support of Harry’s wife, Meghan, contributed to the bitter dispute, which saw the Duke resign as head of the HIV children’s charity he had co-founded almost two decades ago.

Harry is alleged to have reached out to Dr Chandauka following the Sussexes ‘ appearance at the Florida polo challenge in April last year. Problems arose at the end of the match when the players and their partners gathered on the podium for a post-match photograph.

In an exchange captured on camera, Meghan appeared to instruct Dr Chandauka to move away from Harry as he celebrated his win. The Duchess was filmed asking the Zimbabwean lawyer to move to the other side of her husband, forcing the charity chairman to duck under the trophy to switch positions.

The footage generated huge publicity and, behind the scenes, Harry and Meghan were said to be furious at the way it had appeared. According to the publication, a member of Prince Harry’s team initially asked Dr Chandauka to issue a statement dismissing any suggestions of tension.

But Dr Chandauka, who felt she had been treated with disrespect during the charity day, refused, saying she did not wish to” become an extension of the Sussex PR machine”. In an interview on Sky News yesterday, Dr Chandauka claimed:” Prince Harry asked me to issue some sort of a statement in support of the Duchess, and I said I wouldn’t. Not because I didn’t care about the Duchess, but because I knew what would happen if I did so, number one. And number two, because we cannot be an extension of the Sussexes. “

Harry had reportedly contacted her directly to complain about her actions, with sources describing the message as “unpleasant” and using “imperious” language. A spokesman for Sentebale confirmed to the Telegraph that the Duke had sent the message. “This is true. There is a document,” they said.

In his statement announcing his decision to step down as a patron of Sentebale, Harry said he felt” in shock “and” truly heartbroken “to be resigning. Neither Harry nor Meghan have publicly commented on the ongoing drama with Dr Chandauka – but sources close to the Duke have also said her latest comments in the row are a” deflection”, and that the resignation of the trustees and Harry was as a” direct result of the chair’s mismanagement”.
