Government introduces special law for Oasis shows ‘in the public interest’

After opening the eagerly awaited reunion tour in Cardiff tomorrow night, Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher will take the Oasis Live ’25 Tour to Heaton Park in Manchester the following week.

The Government has brought in special new drone laws to protect Noel and Liam Gallagher when they play at Heaton Park in Manchester next week. The Secretary of State, Yvette Cooper, has taken the unusual step of putting a no-fly zone in place over the concert venue – banning drones from flying within one-and-a-half miles of the brothers for the first time ever.

It means Oasis will be protected from possible security threats or unwanted press or public intrusion when they play their five sell-out reunion gigs at the venue to crowds of 80,000 each night. The order, which was drawn up in May, begins next Friday (July 11) when the concerts kick off.

It says: “The Secretary of State has decided that it is in the public interest to restrict the flying of unmanned aircraft in the area specified in regulation 3(1) by reason of the intending gathering of a large number of persons in the vicinity for music concerts.” The order then states: “In view of the expected large gathering of persons attending the music concerts and at the request of the Greater Manchester Police, the Civil Aviation Authority and the Department for Transport agree that the flying of unmanned aircraft should be restricted in the vicinity of the event for reasons of public safety and security.”

In the restricted airspace, no aircraft is permitted to fly below 1,400 feet above sea level. Unnamed local resident said: “I can’t believe the Government has intervened to protect the Gallagher brothers.

The Oasis Live ’25 Tour will begin tomorrow in Cardiff and the band will play 20 dates around the world. On Wednesday night drones hovered above the stadium to spell out Oasis and the original band logo in white lights. The band could be planning something similar in Manchester and if so they would not want other drones in the way. Drones could also record the gigs or take unwanted photos.

It was announced last week that Oasis, which also includes new drummer Joey Waronker and guitarists Andy Bell, Gem Archer and Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, had lined up rehearsals at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff ahead of their first comeback gig. A source told us that Noel and Liam “want every night to be massive”.

A source told the Mirror: “With a new line up and it being such a huge first show, the boys will do some songs inside the venue too. Some tours would start with a smaller show or take a week or two to get into the groove again.”

They continued, “But that’s not possible, and Liam and Noel want every night to be huge.” They are taking this enormous comeback show very seriously. It all points to a fantastic comeback tour.

More recently, additional musicians on the tour were unveiled by the Mirror ahead of the opening night gig later this week. They included singer-songwriter Jess Greenfield, who is also a part of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Orlando Bloom shares cryptic post about ‘loneliness’ after Katy Perry split

Orlando Bloom, the director of the Lord of the Rings, has a number of quotes to share. Despite recent reports that he has split from Katy Perry, Carl Jung has been attributed to psychologist.

Orlando Bloom has shared a series of cryptic quotes referring to “darkness” and “loneliness” following his reported split from his fiancée Katy Perry.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 48, and Katy, 40, have reportedly parted ways after nine years together. The couple, who are parents to four-year-old daughter Daisy, have faced speculation over their relationship in recent weeks, with there once even the suggestion of potential “make or break talks” in the future.

Following yet more reports that they had separated, Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando has shared a series of quotes, which aren’t attributed to him, on Instagram. They featured in a post that he shared on his account yesterday.

He shared a post on the account @sapienkind about Carl Jung, who is regarded as the father of analytical psychology. More than a dozen quotes from the psychologist were included in the post.

One quote from Orlando’s repost addressed loneliness. It said, “Loneliness does not come from having no people around one, but rather from being unable to communicate what seems important to one.”

while another post featured love and power in its focus. There is no will to power, and where power predominates, love is lacking, according to the quote. The one is “the other’s shadow.”

According to one quote, “Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its significance if it were not balanced by sadness.” While another remarked, “Be just another human soul as you touch a human soul, but you know all the theories and techniques.”

Orlando later shared his Instagram Story post. He continued to highlight a few of the quotes in particular, including one that made reference to touching the human soul and one that made a specific mention of loneliness.

He also cited a different phrase there. We are what we choose to become, he said in his third quote from his Instagram post from yesterday.

It comes after Orlando previously shared some quotes from other sources just days ago. As reported at the time, he posted a quote attributed to Buddha that read: “Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters most.”

Amid ongoing speculation over his relationship with singer-songwriter Katy, it’s been reported that they are “amicable”. A source told US Weekly for an article that was published last week: “It’s not contentious at the moment.”

The source claimed that their apparent separation has been “a long time coming,” adding that communication has been “tense for months.” They claimed Katy is “of course upset,” but that she is “relived” that she won’t have to go through another divorce.

Vogue hunting for the next Anna Wintour on LinkedIn – but there’s one crucial difference

Media giant Condé Nast has shared a call out on LinkedIn to find its new head for US Vogue a week after longstanding Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour announced she is stepping back

The conclave of the fashion world is kicking off with a LinkedIn job posting. A week after Anna Wintour announced she will be stepping back as Editor-in-Chief of Vogue US, the publication’s parent company Condé Nast took to the networking site to open the door for her replacement.

With an image captioned “WE ARE HIRING” Condé Nast posted on its LinkedIn page: “Condé Nast is hiring a Head of Editorial Content for U.S Vogue.” The post included an email address for keen candidates to reach out to the prominent leadership consulting agency, Spencer Stuart.

“If you are interested, please reach out by email with your resume to condenast@spencerstuart.com” the post concluded. It was unsurprisingly vague, with no information on job qualifications, job description or salary information. There is also no posting for the position as of yet on the Condé Nast job site.

The likelihood that Vogue US will choose its Head of Editorial Content from LinkedIn is fairly slim. Maybe only slightly more plausible than the next pope being recruited through LinkedIn.

Even the keenest of fashion journalists and students found it difficult to take the posting seriously, with the comments descending into speculation on the successor and Devil Wears Prada memes. “On LinkedIn lol. The ultimate job troll post” wrote one user. “Can’t wait for us to hear about the replacement they 100% selected before posting this and we find out it’s a big name who probably hasn’t seen a job application in decades,” commented on PR specialist.

The new head will undoubtedly be chosen in the upper echelons of Condé Nast and a prerequisite for consideration being an established bond with Wintour.

In her 37-year reign as Editor-in-Chief, Wintour has fostered a reputation for being heavily involved in every link of the publication’s production and wields a heavy influence at Condé Nast as well, serving as Chief Content Officer.

The new successor will take charge of the magazine’s daily operations and shape its creative and editorial direction. They will notably not take on Wintour’s former title of Editor-in-Chief, but the title of Head of Editorial Content.

While many have speculated that Wintour’s ego had to do with the difference in title, the same change occurred at British Vogue in 2023. After Edward Enniful left his role as EIC after six years, he was replaced by Chioma Nnadi as Head of Editorial Content for the publication.

That said, Wintour will oversee HOECs at all Vogues in her capacity as Chief Content Officer for Condé Nast. The new HOEC for Vogue US will report directly to Wintour as well. In an article announcing Wintour’s departure, Vogue wrote that the addition of a new editorial lead for Vogue US will “allow Wintour greater time and flexibility to support the other global markets that Condé Nast serves”.

Rumours have been swirling for a week about Wintour will select to lead Vogue US in its next chapter. British Vogue’s Chioma Nnadi is rumoured to be the front-runner for the role, given her longstanding relationship with Wintour and history with Condé Nast.

Sharing the news of her departure with Vogue staff on June 26, Wintour said: “Anybody in a creative field knows how essential it is never to stop growing in one’s work. When I became the editor of Vogue, I was eager to prove to all who might listen that there was a new, exciting way to imagine an American fashion magazine.

“Now, I find that my greatest pleasure is helping the next generation of impassioned editors storm the field with their own ideas, supported by a new, exciting view of what a major media company can be. And that is exactly the kind of person we need to now look for to be HOEC for US Vogue.”

As reported by Vogue, many of Wintour’s responsibilities at the US publication would remain the same: “including paying very close attention to the fashion industry and the creative cultural force that is our extraordinary Met Ball and charting the course of future Vogue Worlds and any other original fearless ideas we may come up with. And it goes without saying that I plan to remain Vogue’s tennis and theater editor in perpetuity.

“But how thrilling it will be,” she concluded, “to work alongside someone new who will challenge us, inspire us, and make us all think about Vogue in a myriad of original ways.”

Former Big Brother star Charley Uchea has been rushed to hospital after a horrific car crash as she was “left for dead”.

The reality favourite, who shot to fame on the show’s eighth series in 2007, told fans she was “lucky to be alive” after being knocked unconscious in a collision with a truck in the United States of America.

In an emotional Instagram update, the 40-year-old was seen in a neck brace with cuts on her face, admitting she was struggling to move her arms and legs and was in “agony.” She posted a shocking photo of a wrecked picked up truck, writing: “Look at the damage this truck did just by hitting me then leaves me [for] dead on the side of the road.”

She reiterated how fortunate she felt to have survived the ordeal, despite being in severe pain. The crash also forced her to cancel a dream trip to Hawaii for her 41st birthday on 30 June.

“To think we was flying to Hawaii for my bday and now I’m bed bound ‘cause I can’t walk or anything,” she said. “Just in agony. Yes, I’m lucky to be alive but this pain feels like I’m dying.”

In another video shared with her followers, the reality star showed a nurse tenderly brushing her hair, “Bless my nurse brushing my hair out. I can’t really use my arms atm. I’m so weak.” as she is currently too weak to use her arms. Despite the setback, she reassured her fans that she would be “home soon”.

Charley became one of Big Brother’s most talked-about housemates thanks to her fiery clashes with Chanelle Hayes while in the Big Brother House together in 2007.

She was memorably evicted in week eight – only to discover it was a hoax, with Davina McCall offering her the chance to re-enter after revealing who’d nominated her.
