Georgia O’Connor was ‘shrugged off’ by doctors before dying of incurable cancer aged 25

Boxer Georgia O’Connor made a brutal rant against doctors that claimed she was “gaslit” and “shrugged off” by doctors just before her tragic death, aged 25.

Georgia O’Connor, who died from cancer in May, said she spent months begging for help – only for her pain to be dismissed by doctors as “all in her head”.

The Durham-raised athlete was a Team GB representative and winner of the 2017 Commonwealth Youth gold. She died aged 25 after struggling with a “rare and aggressive” form of cancer labelled “incurable” by doctors.

In October of that year, Georgia was first informed of her diagnosis, which was a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (UC), and four months later, she married her husband, Adriano Cardinali. Her death, ironically, happened after only a fortnight of marriage.

Unfortunately, Georgia’s death followed a history of NHS dismissals, where the boxer was left “crying on the floor in agony” for help. In an Instagram post shared before her death, she listed the mistakes she claims were made by medical professionals, and accused them of knowing her strong likelihood of developing the disease.

On January 31, Georgia dropped the “cancer bomb” to her 44.5k Instagram followers before swiftly calling out the alleged injustice of her diagnosis. She opened up about being in “constant pain” since early October and having to travel between Durham and Newcastle RVI A&E.

Georgia “felt it was cancer,” she said “deep down,” and she was aware of the seriousness of the situation right away. I was aware of the dangers. Colitis and PSC, two conditions that significantly increase your chances of getting them, are both present. They also know how high of a risk I am. They did it always.

The late boxer continued, “But not one doctor f*****g listened to me,” which is heartbreaking. I was not taken seriously by any doctor. I begged for these scans and blood tests while agonizing on the floor with no doctor to perform them. The boxer claims she was “gaslit” and shrugged off after asking doctors to take her medical history and symptoms into account.

They gaslighted me, assured me it wasn’t something, and gave me the impression that I was overreacting. They turned down my scan request. They declined to look into the matter. They turned their back on the radio. One even claimed that it is “all in my head.”

She remarked, “They could have gone through this before it even started.” But that was not their choice. Because of this, the NHS is in a bad place, failing young people like me repeatedly, because of it.

Georgia, who was outraged and betrayed, described the shortcomings as “a system that makes people suffer, sends them home in agony, and allows cancer to spread while the thick, stupid, mindless “doctors” shrug their shoulders,” in a statement. Over 20 000 fans and industry professionals flooded the Georgian post with comments.

The Mirror reached out to Durham and Newcastle RVI A&E for comment. Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust shared a statement, saying: “We are very sorry to hear the news about Georgia’s death and offer our sincere condolences to the family. We appreciate this a very difficult time, but when and if the family want to raise any concerns with us, we’d urge them to get in touch”.

Freddy Brazier announces he’s going to rehab after sad fallout with dad

Freddy Brazier has revealed that he will undergo rehabilitation in Spain. The 20-year-old Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier’s youngest son, who is 20 years old, has been “smoking” since he was 12 years old and will seek medical care to “get clean.”

He stated on his Stories, “I’ve decided to cut down and I want to go to rehab in Marbs because I don’t want to take getting clean seriously in England.”

I’ve been smoking since I was 12 years old, and it’s time to stop. It was a poor coping mechanism that led to an addiction that I relied on to keep myself sane and somewhat okay.

A boxing gym is what I found to be a rehab facility. I’ve found someone I want to know, and I’m happy that I have a good group of friends. I also want to [get out and enjoy myself.

“I want to be clean so I can live happily, have good relationships with people, and care for my entire family,” he said, “but I also want to be clean so I can choose a side.”

He continued, “I haven’t been able to feel loved properly because I have never loved myself, and it starts now.” I want to pursue boxing, and I want to be happy, sane, and in good company with my father and Nana.

“My Nana and my father tell me a new story every day.” It is now becoming boring. Have a productive rest of the week, he said, “Mind your business.”

After it became known that Freddy had moved in with his maternal grandmother Jackiey Budden after leaving his dad’s family home, concern has grown for him over the past week.
Freddy and Jeff’s sweet bond, which was aired on the BBC’s Race Across the World last year, was well-known. However, it appears that Freddy’s attraction to mother Jade’s mother has deteriorated their relationship.
Fans have been concerned about Freddy’s posting of photos with his gran, but he posted “all the things he hates” in his life in a single post this week.

Freddy claimed that he had “family issues” and that he disliked his “relationship with weed” and “step parents” and that he “didn’t know how to love because I’ve never felt loved.”

Just one day before Jade Goody’s birthday today, the TikTok was shared on Wednesday. The late Big Brother icon, who passed away at the age of 27, would have celebrated his 44th birthday.

Under Freddie’s post, one TikTok user wrote, “Ah man, this is gonna be sad to watch.” One person suggested, “Go home son, this is not what your mother wanted for you sweetheart,” while a third wrote, “Sending you love Fred!” Watched you in Race Across the World andamp; you have a lot of potential.

Freddy appears to be skipping Bobby’s 22nd birthday celebrations on Monday because he is also strained with his big brother. After Freddy’s absence, the party felt a sense of “sadness,” according to The Sun, where Bobby is alleged to have spent time with stepmum Kate and Jeff instead.

When his mother Jade passed away from cervical cancer in 2009, Freddy was just four years old. After enduring such a trauma, Jeff put his heart and soul into raising Freddy and Bobby and making sure they both had a stable childhood.

Sam Thompson has told how he bravely defied medics who told him to quit after just one day as he completed his massive Soccer Aid challenge against the odds. The star revealed to the Mirror how there were talks about him being “medically discharged” on Monday because of his debilitating injury.

He explains that “on day one, I was crying into my physio’s arms because I was so worried that I would end up being that person who carried this out and received medical treatment.” I was like “no,” even though they were discussing doing that.

At the conclusion of the first marathon, the star’s calf muscle completely ripped off. He described how his leg “completely gave up” at one point when describing the full extent of the injury.

As he crossed the threshold with donations to UNICEF reaching a staggering £1, 516, 433.22, he admitted, “I just got into a fast hobble and that just about worked.”

Sam was delivering the soccer aid for the UNICEF match ball from Stamford Bridge in London, where it was played this year, to Old Trafford in Manchester. 261 miles total was traveled.

He said, “I’m taking double codeine and paracetamol… I’m not going to lie, it hurts a lot,” as the Mirror led him to the nearby hotel for an ice-bath.

He claimed yesterday morning that the Prime Minister called him “inspiring” and gave him a lot of cheer.

I’ve seen the footage of Sam running with that injury, Sir Keir said, “I tell Sam that he is doing a fantastic job.” I pay tribute to him in full, and I applaud his actions, particularly if he has a problem. I’ll do everything in my power to help soccer, and it’s always good.

And Sam continued, “I can’t believe he knows my name. It is utterly insane. It’s amazing how many people are watching us on UNICEF and Soccer Aid as a whole. It’s just so powerful, even the Prime Minister, if he hasn’t even heard of this challenge.

As Sam crossed the line in a puddle of tears, his sister Louise, her fiance Ryan Libbey, and their son Leo were all present.

He continued, “Oh, mate, she’s just been so patient.” She and Ryan have endured this entire five days without a hitch, which is what family is all about.

Of course, the main focus is on the charity, which it will always be. However, this also demonstrates how important family and friendship are. Although it sounds very corny, having a core group of friends nearby makes it possible to do anything.

On day two of his extended bike ride, Sam experienced spells of torrential rain as well as his inner demons. He has been very open about his mental health, including a late diagnosis of autism. However, a number of well-known friends have helped him along the way.

TV hosts Josie Gibson, Chris Hughes and Jamie Laing have all supported him during the dark times. But his reunion and pep-talk with best mate Pete Wicks is especially spurring him on. He says: “I’m so blown away by people’s generosity. It’s all going to Unicef ‘s work for kids around the world. I’ve seen it firsthand and know the difference it will make.”

Massive Attack slam ‘unethical’ Barclays and demand removal of adverts at venue before gig

Before a performance at Co-op Live in Manchester, Massive Attack, which consists of bandmates Robert “3D” Del Naja and Grant “Daddy G” Marshall, criticised Barclays in a statement.

Massive Attack have criticised Barclays and shared their views, claiming it is an “unethical corporate identity” ahead of a gig at a venue sponsored by the company this week. The band were set to take to the stage at Co-op Live in Manchester before they made the statement.

It follows the news of a partnership between the indoor arena and Barclays last month. Two weeks ago, it was announced that the bank has become a “founding partner” of Co-op Live, which opened in the city last year.

Massive Attack – comprised of Robert ‘3D’ Del Naja and Grant ‘Daddy G’ Marshall – hit out over the partnership in a statement shared on Instagram just hours before their concert at the venue last night. They referenced both fossil fuel extraction and Palestine, and accused Barclays of being a “profoundly unethical corporate identity”.

The band, which is renowned for songs like Teardrop and Unfinished Sympathy, however, stated that the performance would continue. They informed the audience that the organizers had agreed to take away Barclays advertising material from the arena in exchange for it.

The band stated in a statement shared with their 401, 000 followers, “We’re so happy to be back in Manchester, and we’re playing in this city tonight. We confirmed this performance at Co Op Live Arena in January, not least because of the venue’s strong commitment to sustainability and its ethical sponsorship.

They continued by writing: “15 days ago, without any advance warning or notification, the arena ownership announced a new corporate sponsorship with Barclays: a commercial identity synonymous with the large-scale financing of new fossil fuel extraction, and billions of dollars of investments in arms companies that supply Israel in its genocidal onslaught of Gaza, and war crimes in the West Bank.

Objectively speaking, Barclays is a deeply unethical corporate identity. We think Barclays should not be involved in any of our cultural or sporting arenas, but rather, we have been taught (with disbelief) about the partnership through a local media story.

Massive Attack continued, “We do not want to disappoint fans who have purchased their hard-earned money in tickets and are anticipating the show, especially on such a short notice. Owners of Co Op Live have consented to us requiring that all Barclays livery and logos, both physically and digital, be completely removed from both the arena and our show page on the arena website. No show tickets will be offered to Barclays, either for sale or for free.

The band’s statement concluded: “At a time when the world works to tackle climate emergency, and watches on in despair and horror at the scenes of civilian slaughter in Gaza, we’re stunned that the arena ownership took this decision to partner with Barclays – especially in a progressive city like Manchester – and then attempted to retroactively apply that sponsorship to artists who would have been deeply uneasy, or refused to align their performances with a venue with Barclays as partner. See you tonight, Manchester. In love and rage, Massive Attack.”

Massive Attack bandmates Robert Del Naja and Grant Marshall, stood as part of a group which also included Andy Burnham, holding up a sign for the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Massive Attack shared posts promoting the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, an initiative to “accelerate a transition to renewable energy,” shortly after posting their statement. In addition to posting a photo of themselves holding up a sign for it while they were in Manchester, they also posted a photo of themselves.

Among the group of five was Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester. The band wrote in the caption of the photo: “Proud to be part of this story: endorsing the [initiative] with Mayor of Greater Manchester [Andy].”

Co-Op Live previously stated that it was “leading the future of sustainable live entertainment with Massive Attack.” It stated on a page for the show that it would commit to having a “fully plant-based” menu for the show in keeping with the band’s long-standing commitment to environmental activism.

Does David Beckham deserve to be knighted? Vote in our poll

After being in line for the award for more than ten years, David Beckham will finally be knighted next week as part of the King’s birthday celebrations. We want to hear what you think.

David Beckham will finally be awarded with a knighthood in the King’s Birthday Honours list next week after years of public calls – and we want to hear your thoughts on the news. The Manchester United icon will officially become a Sir and join a host of other football legends who have been honoured by the Royal Family, reports The Sun.

The former England star, who recently turned 50, serves as an ambassador for The King’s Foundation and has continued to make notable donations to charity. He has developed a friendship with the King, who hinted at last month’s Chelsea Flower Show that David’s honour was finally on its way.

Charles responded, “You got it, didn’t you?” Beckham responded, “Thank you, it was incredible. It was very kind. Victoria, his wife, will go by the name Lady Beckham. It comes after David received an OBE in 2003 for his contributions to football.

Becks, who played 115 times for England, was first put forward for a knighthood in 2011 following his role in securing the London 2012 Olympics – but was blocked by the Honours Committee after he became embroiled in a tax avoidance scheme, which he was cleared of four years ago. The now Inter Miami co-owner had been kept waiting in his bid to earn a knighthood, with Beckham narrowly missing out in the New Year Honours List published in December last year, the Sun reports.

Beckham’s anger at the New Years’ honours committee and possible setbacks in his quest for knighthood were revealed in shocking emails released in 2017. The former midfielder has claimed some of the emails leaked were fakes, but the football star is said to have called the committee “unappreciative c***s” and added that he “didn’t care about being knighted.”

According to the emails that were leaked, the former football player said, “I expected nothing less. To be honest, this is a disgrace, and ten years ago, I would have acquired something like this. Katherine Jenkins, an opera star, was reportedly hit by him after receiving an OBE. What does Katherine Jenkins OBE stand for? attending the rugby and seeing the soldiers. F***ing joke”.

A close friend of Beckham exclusively told The Mirror in 2017: “To be honest, he does feel that he has given so much to his country. And sometimes you say things in private that anyone would say and you don’t really mean it. While he was frustrated in those emails, he was over it the moment he sent them. Getting the knighthood is not what his work is about. He doesn’t care if he gets a knighthood or not.”

Beckham’s appointment as an ambassador for King’s Foundation, which earlier this year was viewed as a positive sign, was welcomed with a new role. He added at the time, “I’m thrilled to be working with The King’s Foundation and have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the charity’s work.”

I’ve always been interested in helping young people broaden their horizons, and I’m particularly interested in supporting the Foundation’s education initiatives and efforts to give young people greater access to nature.

Following the announcement that Beckham will be awarded with a knighthood next week, we want to know if you think the football legend deserves the honour. Vote in our poll HERE to have your say.
