The Loose Women star has recalled how she hid in the toilet to listen in on some all-star guests at Elton John’s wedding, including a royal, a Spice Girl and an X Factor judge

Loose Women’s Denise Welch has recalled eavesdropping on some famous faces while in the toilet at Sir Elton John’s civil partnership. The 67-year-old revealed to Kelly Brook on the Loose Women: Just Between Us podcast that she was in the toilet when Fergie, Victoria Beckham and Sharon Osbourne came in. And rather than make herself known, she stayed in the toilet to listen in on their conversation.

“I remember sitting in the toilet at one point and listening to the Duchess of York, Victoria Beckham and Sharon Osbourne having a chat,” she said. “And I made it the longest wee in the world so I could try and listen to absolutely everything!”

She didn’t share what was said, but did say she was “appalled” by the language of the best woman, Janet Street Porter, and told her as such.

She also explained how she ended up at Elton John’s civil partnership in the first place. She revealed that she was at the wedding of TV personality Phil Turner and make-up artist Gary Cockerill first, where Katie Price was the bridesmaid and Peter Andre was the best man.

“But I had to leave before the pudding so I could go to Elton’s wedding! The reason I was going was because Tim [Healy], who I was married to at the time and the boys’ dad, was playing the dad in Billy Elliot the musical.”

She added that it was like “being at a looky-likey competition, but it was the real people.” Sir Elton and David Furnish became civil partners in 2005, with the likes of Elizabeth Hurley, Sir David Beckham, Lulu, Cilla Black, Ringo Starr, Claudia Schiffer and James Blunt also in attendance.

Her co-host, Kelly, also spoke about her “most famous wedding” that she’d been to, one that could rival Elton John’s. “The most famous wedding I ever attended was Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s wedding.

“I was only invited because Madonna said she was only going to invite people that had been together for a long time, and my partner and I had been together for many years.”

Denise then asked who that partner was, and Kelly said she was with Jason Statham at the time, who had worked with Guy on Snatch. She added that they were all friends, but for six months, she had no clue the director was dating the Vogue singer, thanks to his odd nickname for her.

“We were all friends at that time and we knew Guy was dating somebody but he always referred to her as Madge. So for six months I didn’t know who this mysterious Madge was!”

Fans in the comment section were left in fits of laughter after Denise and Kelly’s admissions. “I imagine having a girls night out with @denise_welch it would be hilarious,” said one.

A second went on to write: “I mean, never has there ever been a better podcast host with so many tales than @denise_welch I’M IN.”

Adele is believed to be finally ready to speak about her meteoric rise to fame, almost two decades after she released her first album, which saw her become a household name

Adele is said to be planning to reveal her truth in a huge new project. The proud Londoner became a household name in 2008 following the release of her second single, Chasing Pavements, and has since conquered the globe with her infectious personality and music.

But in the almost two decades she’s been in the music industry, Adele Adkins MBE has remained extremely private about her personal life. While her albums may be somewhat autobiographical about her failed relationships, the singer, 37, rarely gives fans a proper look into her life.

And although most celebrities use social media to connect directly with fans, this is something Adele doesn’t do. She previously said that her social media pages are managed by her team, and she is rarely given access.

But this could be all set to change, reports have claimed that she’s finally agreed to write an autobiography about her life and her astronomical success. It’s been claimed that Adele, who attended the BRITs School before signing with XL Records in 2006, had been at the top of publishers’ lists to try and get their story out.

“She’s always said no,” a source said. They went on to tell The Sun: “Finally she is ready and it will be Adele in her own words — beyond the headlines. As well as taking in her rise to fame in music, it will touch on her upbringing and her personal life.”

Fans should be bracing themselves, though, it’s not just an autobiography Adele is said to be working on. The publication claims that following her break after her Las Vegas and Munich residency, she’s apparently gearing up for new music, as well as a massive stadium tour.

The source told the outlet: “She loves her life out of the spotlight — but talks about another tour and even a new record have been happening. Fans should watch this space.” After wrapping up her highly-praised Las Vegas residency earlier this year, she pledged to step away from the spotlight and cautioned her audience: “I will not see you for an incredibly long time.”

Explaining her decision, she told the audience: “I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break, and I will fantasise about these shows and any shows that I’ve done over the last three years. It has been amazing, I just need a rest. I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now.”

It’s also claimed that Adele is considering performing at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2026. The Hello singer has been approached to perform at the pinnacle of the US NFL season, which is considered the most-watched television event globally and is set for next February.

According to stateside reports, Adele is contemplating breaking her self-imposed hiatus to say “yes.” She has a history of declining the Super Bowl, dating back to 2016 when she stated the “show is not about music” and added “I don’t dance”. However, she did hint at a possible future performance with a “maybe next time” and has been a regular attendee since, most recently watching Rihanna’s half-time show in 2023.

This year’s Super Bowl saw Kendrick Lamar take the stage, while an all-star hip hop set by Eminem and Dr Dre was featured in 2022, and The Weekend headlined in 2021. Other big names who have graced the stage include Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, and Shakira.

The only other British acts to have recently performed are Coldplay, The Who, and Sir Paul McCartney. Ed Sheeran, however, has ruled himself out of the gig.

Coronation Street legend Michelle Keegan has revealed she was left heartbroken after the Sky drama she starred in, Brassic, filmed in her hometown, came to an end

Michelle Keegan has admitted she’s heartbroken about the end of an iconic show from Northern England that “felt like home”.

Since it started in 2019, the actress has played Erin Croft on Brassic. Now that the show has come to an end and her time as Erin is up, Michelle has shared her emotional reaction to losing the series.

She said: “It’s really sad and for me it’s felt like home. Every year, I’d go off and do other projects and then I’d come back home to Brassic as it was always at the same time every year. It was the nicest job to do because it was like seeing all your mates again.”

The show filmed in places around the North of England, including Manchester, where Michelle is from. Having married Mark Wright and settled in Epping, Essex, it’s not often that Michelle seemed to relish being able to head back up north for a shoot each year.

The actress, who first came to the screen as Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street, added that she felt it would “hit” more when it’s absence from her diary was impossible to miss. She told the Daily Star: “It’s going to hit me more this year when it’s not coming back.”

Michelle was on Corrie for six years. Her character, Tina, went through several big storylines such as one centring on abortion after her affair with David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd), which ultimately resulted in argument between David and Gail in which he pushed his mother down the stairs.

Since leaving Corrie after Tina’s death, Michelle has been in a lot of popular TV shows. Taking over from EastEnders Lacey Turner, she fronted season two onwards of army drama Our Girl, took on a lead role in period drama Ten Pound Poms and led Netflix’s adaptation of Harlan Coben’s Fool Me Once.

Brassic is another of her hits. The comedy about a group of friends in a forgotten town in the North of England, was a raving success and it’s lead, Joseph Gilgun was nominated for several BAFTAs. Michelle told the Daily Star that she loved getting great reactions from fans: “I’m going to miss it. You got it a lot especially being back filming in Manchester where so many people would come up to you or stop in the street and ask about Brassic.

“People would come up and quote the famous lines or ask me what’s going to happen to Erin and Vinnie. It’s been great.”

She added that she knew from “day one” that it would be a success, it was just a feeling that she had. Michelle, therefore, wasn’t surprised it lasted so long.

“I knew from day one. I had this feeling. You just knew it was going to be special. It was a feeling we all got on the set too when we started filming. I’m not surprised it’s lasted this long.”

Jade Thirlwall has revealed she won’t be raking in the cash on one of her latest songs. The former X Factor star released her debut album, That’s Showbiz Baby! on Friday (12 September), and fans were delighted to find one of the songs sampled an iconic track from Diana Ross and The Supremes. But the former Little Mix star has now revealed that this sample came at a great cost.

The South Shields-born singer samples The Supremes’ 1965 anthem Stop! In The Name of Love on her song Before You Break My Heart. Jade later revealed that she wasn’t sure how fans would take the track and admitted that she was only able to use the sample because she agreed not to profit from it.

“I didn’t think [Before You Break My Heart] would be a favourite,” Jade said in an interview. “But it’s the one that’s getting the most traction online.”

When she was asked by The Sun how she managed to get the sample on the track, she added: “I am getting no royalties for that track, that’s how I got it.”

The album is currently sitting in the No. 3 spot in the UK midweek charts. Many think it’ll rise to No. 1 by the end of the week, but not Jade, who said she thought it would be Ed Sheeran instead. The Thinking Out Loud singer also released his album, Play, on Friday.

Jade already has two UK Top 40s as a solo artist. Her debut single Angel of My Dreams peaked at No. 7, while FUFN peaked at No. 25 in March.

Angel of My Dreams sees Jade appear to take a swipe at Simon Cowell, with whom Jade’s former group, Little Mix, signed their first record deal. The deal was their prize for winning the reality talent show X Factor in 2011.

With Little Mix, Jade won several awards, including three BRITs – one each for British single, video and group of the year. On her own, she has already won a BRIT Award for best pop act and is set to embark on a nationwide tour next month.

Her former bandmates have also started solo careers. Perrie Edwards has released several singles and will drop her debut solo album at the end of this month, while Leigh-Anne Pinnock released an album in May last year.

Jesy Nelson, who left the group in 2020, has not yet released an album or revealed plans for one, but did release a single called Boyz, featuring Nicki Minaj.

Perrie will also appear in an upcoming BBC documentary called Girlbands Forever, diving into the reality of being in groups like Little Mix.

Love Is Blind UK star Sophie Willett has admitted that she was painted as the ‘villain’ of the 2025 series – but the reality TV star has now shared her truth with The Mirror

Standout participant from the 2025 series of Love Is Blind UK, Sophie Willett, has opened up about her transformative experience on the show, which allowed her to not only gain a newfound self-awareness but also heal her relationship with her formerly estranged mother.

Entering the experiment, Sophie, 28, was determined to find a genuine connection. However, she quickly found herself entangled in a love triangle with gamer Kieran Holmes-Darby and his now-wife, Megan Jupp.

Despite her efforts, Kieran ultimately chose to tie the knot with Megan, leading Sophie to leave the show prematurely. She later returned during the cast mixer, where her flirtatious behaviour with Javen Palmer contributed to the end of his relationship with Katisha Atkinson just days after he got down on one knee to pop the all-important question.

Reflecting on her journey, Sophie told the Mirror that the whole experience has been life-changing. “The overall experience is very positive and transformative for me.

“I learnt so much about myself, and even though I expected to walk away with a husband, I found myself in ways I truly don’t think I would have without the experiment.” Sophie emphasised the importance of her family and friends throughout her journey, adding: “I couldn’t have done this without them.”

The most significant development post-show was her amazing reconnection with her estranged mother. During the reunion episode, Sophie revealed that she was so thankful to the show because it mended her relationship with her mum and, in turn, changed her whole life.

Opening up about her beautiful reconnection with her mum, Sophie revealed: “My mum rang me after the first few episodes dropped and told me how proud she was of me and she didn’t realise how much us losing connection affected me and especially in my love life. I recently went home for a weekend and just had girly time and it was such a breath of fresh air.”

While being on the show has brought her closer to her family, Sophie hasn’t quite been able to escape the claws of cruel keyboard warriors who brutally trolled her after the series aired. Addressing the online backlash she faced, Sophie admitted that she was forced to delete certain apps due to the intense hate she received.

However, she admits that she found solace in her family’s support: “My dad has always had a pragmatic view on life and reminded me that these people are irrelevant in the grand scheme of my life and my journey.”

She concluded, “As long as my family and friends are proud of me and can see the real version of me I’m okay.” The intense environment of the pods, devoid of external distractions, allowed Sophie to experience deep emotional connections that she never thought were possible.

Speaking about what it’s really like to fall for someone you’ve never even laid eyes on, the Love Is Blind star explained: “The experiment is your whole life, there is no outside noise, no phone, no sense of time. Just you, a pod and a connection. I can see why they fell in love in such a short time.”

Acknowledging her controversial moments, Sophie has owned up to her behaviour and has since done a lot of reflecting and a lot of apologising to those who were left hurt by her actions.

“I mean every programme has to have their own villain and angel I guess. My behaviour at the mixer was disrespectful towards Katisha, I own that and have since apologised in public and private.”

She also addressed misconceptions about her intentions as she insisted: “Some people decided before this that I thought I was too good for the show. Which is truly unfair and so far from the truth.”

While viewers only saw Sophie getting close with one connection, the reality star has revealed that Kieran was not her sole focus. While in the pods, she actually had several more connections – but producers decided to cut the footage.

“Kieran was not my only connection but I realised quite early on that my husband was just not in there and that’s okay,” Sophie explained. “I certainly had other connections that weren’t shown, but knowing them all now I stand on business when I say my husband was not in there.”

Despite the challenge and the setbacks, Sophie remains optimistic about finding a love of her own and is hopeful that her dream man is on the horizon. “

Taking a risk on love is never guaranteed to result in your happy ever after. The fact that it didn’t work for some does not mean the experiment didn’t work. Kieran and Megan are the epitome of it working.” Sophie added: “So I guess love is blind, but fortunately for me I can now date with visuals.”

The experience also led to immense personal growth, as Sophie shared: “I have grown so much, I have realised what is truly important in my life and ultimately I’m aware of what I want and need in a partner.”

Coldplay legend Chris Martin cracks jokes during a rare private gig without his bandmates – as the kindhearted star is understood to have donated the huge fee to his charitable endeavours

He only finished performing in the last of Coldplay’s record-breaking 10-night run at Wembley on Friday. But Chris Martin had yet another show lined up the following night – which was shrouded in total secrecy.

We can reveal the star did a private gig on Saturday evening, for which he was rumoured to have been paid a sum “in the millions”. It is understood Chris’s fee will be donated to various charitable endeavours.

After playing to crowds of 82,000 people at Wembley, the 48-year-old Fix You singer performed to a far smaller audience of around 70 partygoers. The intimate event was part of an “Indian summer” party on Saturday hosted by multi-millionaire singer-songwriter and philanthropist Miel de Botton at her posh Hampshire home.

Chris at one point told her guests: “There were more people in the toilets at Wembley than there are here.” And he referenced Coldplay’s stadium shows ending by joking to the few guests: “I’m now unemployed.”

Chris performed for 90 minutes at the party. Instead of his usual bandmates he was joined by a bass guitarist he has played with since he was 12, and three female backing vocalists. Miel – whose brother is philosopher Alain de Botton – also took to the stage for a duet of Coldplay’s Magic in French.

Guests had to temporarily surrender their phones ahead of the show, in which Chris also sang Yellow, Paradise and Viva La Vida. A source said: “The event was a gathering of Miel’s loved ones, friends and directors at the various charities she supports and works with. All those in attendance were asked not to bring gifts and instead donate to a charity of their choosing.” A second source added: “It was a totally joyful night. Chris was delighted to have been asked and raise important funds for charities which he loves.”

Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres world tour has broken all kinds of records. For a band to perform 10 shows at Wembley in one tour is unprecedented. The tour, which kicked off in March 2022, is the highest attended in history, beating Taylor Swift’s Eras tour. More than 13 million tickets were sold across Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. In total, they played Wembley 16 times: six shows in August 2022 and 10 shows this August and September, which earned them rave reviews.

Chris has revealed the tour is expected to resume in 2027. The band said the Wembley gigs were powered by 100% renewable energy with no generator use – a world first for a stadium show.
