JD Vance’s awkward moment after pub owned by Meghan Markle florist refuses to serve him

Workers at a pub in the Cotswolds threatened to walk out after they discovered that American Vice President JD Vance had hoped to dine there during his trip to the UK

A pub in the Cotswolds was almost faced with chaos after dinner reservations were made for Vice President JD Vance, according to reports. It’s claimed the US vice president was expected to attend a gastro-pub in the area, but had to swiftly change plans.

Vance has been on a family holiday with his wife, Usha Chilukuri, 39, and their three children. His visit to the UK had sparked controversy after locals hit out at him for making their life “hell” due to the multiple car police convoys and buzzing helicopters.

And now, it’s been reported that one group of staff took matters into their own hands. It’s thought Vance had reservations at the Bull Pub, which entertained former US Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris last week. It comes after Vogue Williams quits drinking after blacking out drunk at lavish showbiz wedding.

But workers were reportedly unimpressed with a planned visit from the Vance clan and threatened to walk out if his reservation was honoured.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, Richard Fairhurst, who runs the local Charlbury community blog, said: “It’s very widely believed locally [that staff refused to serve Vance] but The Bull are keeping schtum.’

The showbiz blog Popbitch also wrote: “The mutinous staff all said they wouldn’t come to work if they had to serve Vance and his wife. Facing staff grumbles and a barrage of negative press attention, The Bull refused his patronage.”

But Vance’s camp played down the alleged incident, with a source saying: “The Bull was included as a potential option for lunch, but the family ultimately decided not to go. There was never any indication from the Bull that he or his family were not welcome.”

The Bull is owned by florist, Willow Crossley. Her floral designs were featured at the 2018 wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

Vance’s UK visit comes as his friendship with The Apprentice star Tom Skinner is also in the public eye of late. The reality TV star’s upcoming Strictly Come Dancing appearance has fans of the BBC show outraged.

While some of Tom’s followers enjoyed his no-nonsense posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, his controversial opinions have also landed him in hot water at times.

He recently confirmed he had enjoyed a BBQ with the US Vice President after he had shown support for convicted felon Donald Trump and the Republican Party. Vance and Skinner had previously interacted on social media before meeting “in the beautiful English countryside” where the VP is holidaying.

After hanging out, Tom wrote on X: “Unreal night with JD and his friends and family. He was a proper gent. Lots of laughs and some fantastic food. A brilliant night, one to tell the grandkids about.”

He also posted a picture of himself posing with Vance after a “couple of beers”. He said: “Here is a pic of Me and Vice President @JDVance towards the end of the night after a few beers.

“I’m overdressed in my suit, but when the VP invites you to a BBQ, you don’t risk turning up in shorts and flip-flops. Cracking night in the beautiful English countryside with JD, his friends and family. Once in a lifetime. Bosh.”

Derry Girls actress Saoirse-Monica Jackson and her DJ partner honoured their Celtic roots as they tied the knot in a spectacular three-day Irish celebration.

The 31-year-old, famed for portraying schoolgirl Erin Quinn in the beloved Channel 4 series, donned a cream gown featuring puff sleeves as she exchanged vows with Hector Barbour, professionally known as Denis Sulta, near Kenmare in Co Kerry.

Fellow Derry Girls star Jamie-Lee O’Donnell opted for an elegant floor-length green Rat & Boa number whilst serving as one of the bridesmaids, as Jackson made her way down the aisle, accompanied by her father, to a rendition of the programme’s iconic theme tune Dreams by The Cranberries. It comes after Andy Carroll ‘splits from Lou Teasdale due to her demands’ weeks after public row.

Reflecting on the event to British Vogue, Jackson remarked: “Everybody said that the whole weekend was like something from a movie, and it really was.

“I want to do it again.” Jackson’s gown underwent a stunning transformation for the evening reception, with the skirt being shortened and the corset reversed to showcase a tartan detail.

Barbour popped the question with a bespoke ring during a seaside getaway in Donegal whilst the couple were clad in Dryrobes and Crocs, the pair disclosed to Vogue.

Jackson revealed that Barbour had penned his entire proposal speech, which she treasured being able to revisit afterwards. The pair initially planned to tie the knot overseas for an alfresco celebration, but chose Ireland as a nod to their shared Celtic roots, they revealed to Vogue.

In pictures captured by StoryofEve, Scottish-born Barbour donned a kilt and feathered hat for the nuptials, alongside his groomsmen. Sharing snaps from the festivities on Instagram, Jackson penned “to infinity and beyond”, including a clip of her hubby sweeping her off her feet on the dance floor.

Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet’s ‘distance’ explained as split rumours continue

Hollywood power couple Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet have been under everyone’s watchful eye since they first started dating; now people can’t help but notice their lack of public appearances both on and offline..

Billionaire businesswoman Kylie Jenner has not been seen out and about with her Hollywood heartthrob boyfriend Timothée Chalamet for quite some time, and fans are beginning to speculate if the two have called it quits.

The dynamic duo haven’t been spotted in over five weeks, since they were last seen on July 5 holidaying in St Tropez, at the height of celebrity yacht season. And yet Jenner has been anything but quiet on her social media, as she poses having fun with friends like Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber, drinking together in Los Angeles.

Followers can’t help but question whether the two have parted ways after two and a half years, since Kylie seems to be having all the fun without him. As she poses in bikinis and promotes her new cosmetic products with no signs of Chalamet, theories have begun to build.

The Daily Mail reported that the 29-year-old actor is in fact filming his next project, Dune: Messiah, in Hungary. His role as Paul Atreides is at the centre of the story and will take up a lot of his time as they film the third addition to the franchise.

A source told the publication: “Timothée is busy making a movie, and the schedule is gruelling because he is in so many scenes; he is the star. So he has to be very focused and together to do his best work.

“She helps him out as much as she can, like giving him space to work and having her private jet on standby in case he needs to go somewhere fast. Kylie is a good girlfriend to him. She is always there and wants him to be happy, and if that means he has to be overseas for a few months, she is OK with it; she will wait.

“She also secretly jets off to see him when she can. Of course she misses her man, and her heart hurts when he is not near, but she makes it work.”

Sightings of the film crew have been noted filming in Budapest, as the sequel is being shot entirely with IMAX cameras, ahead of its December 2026 release.

Starring in the blockbuster movie alongside Chalamet are the likes of Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson and Florence Pugh, with the introduction of Robert Pattinson, Anya Taylor-Joy and Jason Momoa.

While Kylie boasts a mind-blowing almost 400 million Instagram followers, not one of them is her boyfriend, albeit the actor doesn’t follow anybody.

On the other hand, as the reality star continues to post drool-worthy pictures of her lavish lifestyle, she has yet to post a single photo of Chalamet, and the pair continue to keep their relationship low-key.

Beyonce and Jay-Z’s huge plans as they buy mega home in Cotswolds

Beyoncé and Jay-Z sparked rumours of a move to the UK when they were spotted visiting the Oxfordshire hotspot in June – but we now understand it’s official

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are putting down roots in the UK

Superstar singer Beyoncé and rapper husband Jay-Z are in the process of buying a plot of farmland in the Cotswolds.

The US pair sparked rumours of a move to Britain when they were spotted visiting Oxfordshire in June. The Mirror understands Beyoncé, 43, and Jay-Z, 55, are now in the process of sealing the deal for 58 acres with planning permission to build a lavish country retreat.

Last night, a source close to the sale said: “They were in negotiation on the price, and it isn’t on the market any more, which would suggest it’s a done deal.”

Architectural drawings obtained exclusively by the Mirror describe the opportunity as a “spectacular rural estate” offering “seamless indoor-outdoor living, combining timeless materials with contemporary architecture.” It comes after David Beckham speaks ‘as a father’ in ‘family’ announcement after latest Brooklyn snub.

The land, with permission for a lake and woodland, was sold off-market with a guide price of £8.5 million, but it is unclear how much the A-list couple paid. It sits just five minutes from the chocolate box village of Great Tew, close to where a host of celebrities, including the Beckhams, Simon Cowell and former US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, call home.

Exclusive private members club Soho Farmhouse, which hosted Meghan Markle’s hen do, is a stone’s throw away. And posh farm shop Daylesford Organic, visited by US vice president JD Vance earlier this week, is also on the doorstep.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z reportedly visited the land by helicopter earlier this summer during the English leg of her Cowboy Carter World Tour. An insider said at the time: “In the past week, [the couple] flew between her London gigs to view a 58-acre plot of land.

“Located close to friends Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, and with Simon Cowell and the Beckhams as neighbours, she felt it would be an ideal UK home for her family, away from the city when they’re in the country.”

It previously emerged that the couple were keen to put down roots here after Los Angeles was devastated by wildfires earlier this year. A close friend said: “The wildfires have given them a good reason to look outside of Los Angeles to build new bases. They will always be based in LA, but the UK is on the agenda. Beyonce loves the UK because they support everything she does.”

Beyoncé and Jay-Z, who share twins Rumi and Sir, eight, and older daughter Blue Ivy, 13, aren’t the first big US names to relocate to the sleepy Oxfordshire countryside. Ellen DeGeneres, 67, and wife Portia de Rossi, 52, made the move across the Atlantic to the area last year in a bid to escape Donald Trump’s America.

The couple’s first home was hit by flooding but they’ve since relocated to a £38 million hilltop pad set in sprawling grounds. It is around a 30-minute drive from their original home, and planning documents show it has a “sustainable drainage system” and is not “at risk of flooding.”

Brad Pitt reportedly owns a home nearby, while Tom Cruise and singer Ariana Grande are frequent visitors. Last August, Taylor Swift and her partner Travis Kelce rented a £33.3 million bolthole in the village of Great Tew during the UK leg of her Eras tour.

And the late tech giant Steve Jobs’ daughter Eve, 27, wed Olympic show jumper Harry Charles, 26, in the local church last month. Guests at the ceremony included Former US Vice President Kamala Harris, Bill Gates’s daughter Jennifer and Bruce Springsteen’s daughter, Jessica.

US Vice President JD Vance is currently holidaying with his family at Dean Manor, a Grade II-listed country home in the tiny Cotswolds hamlet of Dean. He also stayed with the Foreign Secretary David Lammy in Kent and will later travel to Scotland.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are no strangers to the property market. In 2017, they moved into a 12,000 sq ft residence in Malibu, complete with a cinema, gym, wine cellar and ocean views. And they splashed out £66 million later that year for a 30,000 sq ft mansion in Bel Air, California, with eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, four swimming pools and a 15-car garage.

News of the couple’s UK move comes hours after Beyoncé won her first Emmy award for Beyoncé Bowl – her Christmas Day halftime NFL show streamed by Netflix.

When approached by the Mirror, the previous landowner declined to comment. Beyonce’s publicist was approached for comment.

Ruth Langsford says ‘I feel doubly bad’ as family worries are ‘always in back of my mind’

EXCLUSIVE: Loose Women star Ruth Langsford has opened up about the guilt she feels while juggling her family responsibilities with an incredibly busy work schedule

Ruth Langsford opened up about her mum’s battle with Alzheimer’s

Ruth Langsford has admitted that her mum Joan’s struggles with Alzheimer’s disease are “always in the back of my mind”. 94-year-old Joan lives in a care home, but Ruth, 65, handles all of her personal needs, including attending medical appointments with her mum, and facilitating any shopping requests.

In an exclusive interview to discuss her collaboration with Amazon and UK charity Dementia Carers Count, who have partnered up to create an Alexa guide for carers, the Loose Women presenter said she frequently gets plagued with guilt if she ever forgets any of her responsibilities while looking after her beloved mum.

Ruth explained: “It’s always in the back of my mind. I mean, I am fortunate that her care home is literally around the corner from me, and I can see the roof of her care home through my bedroom window.

“And I always know… I was on holiday recently, I know she’s been well looked after, I don’t worry. But she’s always in the back of my mind anyway, with whatever I’m doing really.

“I take her flowers every week, I pick flowers from the garden. If I’m out and I see something and I think, ‘oh mum would like that,’ or I’ll get her that gardening magazine – she doesn’t really read anymore, but she likes the pictures.

“So when it’s someone you love, they’re always on your mind really, whatever you’re doing, and that’s a good thing, I like her to be on my mind.”

However, Ruth admitted that she feels an additional pressure to take care of her mum, as she is now her only daughter, after her sister, Julia, tragically died in 2019.

She continued: “But it’s the responsibility thing. I don’t have my sister anymore, sadly, and so I feel that kind of… if I forget to make her dental appointment, I feel doubly bad than if I’d forgotten my own dental appointment, and I think, ‘that’s so bad, I’m such a bad daughter’.”

Fortunately, the ITV favourite has found that utilising her Amazon Alexa has made things easier, as the device and accompanying apps allow her to set audio and visual reminders for appointments, and also help her to stay organised with shopping lists.

Ruth added: “You can put something in your diary, which I often do, but unless you look at the diary… I’ll see it [too late], and then think, ‘oh gosh, will I get back from work on time?’ So to have that reminder and set reminders, I think would be very, very helpful.”

The mum-of-one, who shares son Jack with her estranged husband Eamonn Holmes, is very keen to raise awareness of the difficulties that unpaid carers face on a daily basis while looking after their loved ones.

She shared: “When I read about this campaign I thought, any little thing that can help somebody who’s a carer in any way, whether it makes life quicker, easier, whether they just feel more supported, whether they feel less alone – it can be very lonely – then it’s a good thing.

“The things that really stood out to me are being able to add things to the shopping list, the calendar, and the reminders, because I’m a very busy person and we know a lot of carers have jobs, maybe have children, and they have a parent or loved one who needs help, and it’s a lot of plate spinning, and it’s a lot of responsibility, and you forget things.

Article continues below

“So if something pops into my head, I think, ‘gosh, I must remember to book a dental appointment for my mum,’ I can just say it out loud – ‘Alexa, remind me to book a dentist appointment for mum, Alexa, please add shower gel and toothpaste to my shopping list for mum’, and it’s just done, and I know it’s done.

“And actually, with the shopping list, if you’ve got the app, the list is on your phone. So anything like that just makes life easier for somebody who’s caring, and they say there’s 700,000 people (unpaid, may I say) carers in the UK, and you have no training, it’s just really difficult for people.”

Strictly star La Voix commits to huge live show during BBC competition

The strictly singer is juggling a huge show of her own, alongside their appearance on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing -taking her up and down the country this Autumn

La Voix is just one of the fifteen celebrity contestants expected to star in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing, and yet it turns out they may have made prior commitments.

The British drag performer and singer, known for competing on both Britain’s Got Talent and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, has signed herself up for yet another challenge in 2025. Although, as the news just dropped, it appears there may be a slight clash in the queen’s schedule.

Fans can get a hold of tickets to see La Voix in her huge UK tour, The Show Isn’t Over, this November. It aims to be an entertaining evening jam-packed with laughs, performances and a live band, as she takes the stage up and down the country, with tickets starting from £32.25. It comes after a Strictly Come Dancing star pulls out of show as he makes career announcement.

The event’s description states: “Join us for a spectacular evening filled with electrifying all-live singing and band performances and a hilarious comedy show that will leave you in awe. La Voix’s powerhouse vocals combined with side-splitting comedy guarantee an experience like no other.

“Get ready to be swept off your feet by the charm, talent, and humour of this incredible show! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to witness the best show in town! Get ready to laugh, sing, and dance the night away with La Voix!”

It can’t help but raise a few red flags, as fans of the dance competition will know; if you continue throughout the show, the final can take you right up until mid-December. The dates set out for the tour run from September 17 right through until November 5.

Having come from a performing background, there’s no reason to say that La Voix won’t be thriving in the competition and, as those dates roll around, find it hard to commit to both performances. The shows expect to see her take on shows in Manchester, Glasgow, London, Brighton, Portsmouth and more.

Meanwhile, fellow celebs showed their support for the drag performer’s Strictly debut, along with excitable fans who can’t wait to see her grace their screens once again. Oti Mabuse wrote: “ABOUT TIME!!!” You’ve been dreaming about this for years – I hope it’s everything and more you’ve been waiting for.”

A thrilled fan also commented: “Is La Voix the first drag queen artist, or am I forgetting someone? This feels like a first. Imagine the glam and glitter.”

While La Voix is no stranger to a stage, she has opened up about her nerves for taking part in the 2025 competition. She shared: “I’ve performed for royalty, RuPaul and Simon Cowell, but nothing fills me with more excitement (and quite a bit of terror) than the thought of dancing in front of millions on live Saturday night TV.

“Strictly is a national institution, and I can’t wait to get started. All that’s left to say is: good luck to my partner! Here’s hoping they can help me go from La Voix into La Danse.”

But it appears that she already has her hopes set on being partnered with a specific dancer. Speaking to the Daily Star, she said: “I think I’m gonna do well on the entertainment factor. If you’re asking me if my posture, alignment and arm lines are gonna be right, don’t hold your breath.

“But I’m gonna try my real hardest to nail it and do the ballroom fans proud.” Speaking about which dancer she wants to be partnered with, she added: “I like the one with the big arms and the snake hips… that’s all of them. I’m casting my net wide. Someone who can lift me up and show me off, that’s what I want.

“I like Kai. Secret inside knowledge, when I did my little dance trial for the show, I had Kai for my audition, so maybe that would be nice. He’s a great guy, an amazing teacher.”
