Rebekah Vardy selling huge £9.7million holiday home after huge decision

The magnificent property in the exclusive golf resort of Quinta do Lago has been used by the Vardy family as a holiday home, and been advertised as a ‘sanctuary’ for the couple

Rebekah Vardy is putting her lavish Portuguese villa, which she and husband Jamie refer to as their ‘sanctuary’, on the market for a hopeful £9.7million.

Just last month, Rebekah, 43, was instructed by a judge to contribute £1.2m towards Coleen Rooney’s legal fees, in addition to her own bill, believed to be over £2million, from the disastrous libel claim she initiated in 2022. The High Court case left her reputation ‘in ruins’ and had a similar impact on her ‘brand’ with potential advertisers.

While her husband Jamie, 38, has remained one of the Premier League’s top earners, raking in an estimated £7.3m at Leicester City last season, and now rumoured to be considering a transfer to Manchester United, reports have speculated that the family may have decided to sell the home due to the significant hit from the Wagatha scandal and its fallout.

In recent years, the Vardys have let out their cherished villa on the exclusive golf resort of Quinta do Lago for up to £30,000 a week, but they’ve now reluctantly decided to put it up for sale. However, a friend of the couple told the Mirror: “They are selling the Portuguese pad – and are looking at different holiday places now. They had some great times there, but just decided it was time for a change. It’s actually laughable for anyone to think it has anything to do with the court case. Nothing could be further from the truth. And that’s shown by the fact that they are looking for a new holiday pad.”

The property has been listed for sale with high-end estate agents Knight Frank, carrying an impressive £9.7 million price tag. Although prices have surged in the Algarve recently, by as much as 16 per cent according to some estimates, the Vardys’ villa is certainly priced on the ‘optimistic side’, according to one agent who spoke to MailOnline under the condition of anonymity.

“It’s undoubtedly a stunning and very modern property, but there are many more traditionally-styled places in that area which some people might prefer, of similar size, but priced a lot more competitively,” he remarked. The villa, boasting three pools, a gym, a steam room and six bedrooms, commands a view over the 18th green of the resort’s North course.

Knight Frank has praised the property, stating: “This magnificent property, built over four levels, showcases meticulous attention to lifestyle details.”

The four-storey residence also features a cinema room, roof terrace and sauna, spread across approximately 0.64 acres. The details further reveal: ‘In addition to the three external pools, which epitomise a contemporary lifestyle, the villa includes a central electro-chromic glass lift accessing each floor.

“The impressively landscaped gardens complement the property’s style, creating a true haven for modern living. The villa is conveniently located within walking distance of the golf course and other renowned amenities within the Quinta do Lago resort.”

In 2022, the couple experienced a fright when their luxury villa was threatened by nearby forest fires. A family insider disclosed to The Sun at the time: “It’s been horrifying. Their neighbours have all been evacuated, and one by one, residents are being told to leave their homes.

“Becky can see smoke everywhere, and she’s terrified about the kids breathing it in. The water is also down, so she’s relying on bottled water, which, obviously, there is only a finite amount of at home.

“Jamie and their friends and family back home have all been really worried. Things are developing by the hour, but she’s praying the fire brigades, who have been brilliant, can get things back under control. She’s genuinely worried. Things are evolving by the hour, but she’s hoping that the fire brigades, who have been outstanding, can regain control,” she expressed.

Vardy lost a High Court case against the I’m A Celeb star in 2022 after being publicly accused of leaking stories about her to the media. The infamous Wagatha Christie saga was sparked by a dramatic open letter penned by Mrs Rooney and shared on social media in October 2019. In it, she disclosed that she had played detective to uncover who had been leaking stories to the press.

Rooney publicly alleged that Mrs Vardy’s account was the source behind three newspaper stories featuring fabricated details she had posted on her private Instagram profile – her trip to Mexico for a ‘gender selection’ procedure, her plans to return to TV, and the flooding in her home’s basement.

Rebekah furiously denied the allegation and attempted to sue Coleen, launching a libel case that took the WAGs all the way to the High Court. The 2022 trial didn’t go Rebekah’s way and the judge ruled in favour of Rooney.

Dan Osborne and Jacqueline Jossa unite again amid Christine McGuinness ‘flirty texts’

Reality star Dan Osborne has headed on another family trip with Jacqueline Jossa and their kids as they continue to focus on their marriage after announcing their split in March

Dan Osborne and Jacqueline Jossa announced their split earlier this year

Dan Osborne has continued to prove he is trying to make things right with Jacqueline Jossa and focus on their family amid reports he sent “flirty texts” to Christine McGuinness. The couple tied the knot in 2017 but, following months of speculation, announced in March that they had decided to spend time apart.

However, just weeks later it seemed like they were not ready to give each up just yet as they jetted off to Mexico for a “make or break” family holiday with their children. Speaking to the Mirror, a source said the pair were “trying to fall back in love with each other again.”

They explained: “They’ve had a rocky, up and down relationship so now they’re trying to do things differently and give each other more space at home, while enjoying this holiday. Jacqueline and Dan want to be together for their children and do want to be a family, but now it’s a case of remembering why they were together in the first place.

“It’s been a tough road, and they know things need to change to make this work.” Dan, 33, and Jacqueline, 32, have continued to put in the effort and have jetted off on another family break together.

As they carve out their path of reconciliation, Dan shared snaps from their trip to Ireland with daughters Ella, 10, and Mia, six. They enjoyed a day in the countryside walking alpacas while looking out over sandy beaches.

In a heartwarming moment, Dan cuddled Mia as they cherished the family day out together. Their trip comes just days after reports that Dan had reached out to model Christine as they both dealt with their marriage breakdowns.

Christine was going through a divorce from funnyman Paddy McGuinness, and it was thought the pair found solace in each other’s situation and formed a stronger bond. The Real Housewives of Cheshire star’s marriage was over, but Dan was reportedly still trying to mend his broken home with the EastEnders star.

According to the Sun, the pair who have known each other since 2019, had stayed in touch in the years and remained amicable when they bumped into each other, but sparks soon became noticeable.

A source told the publication: “They stayed in touch sporadically and would bump into each other at events and their messages got pretty flirty. Some were seen by mutual friends.

“She would call him ‘D’ in texts, and it became an open secret among their circles. There is no suggestion anything sexual happened, but it’s fair to say there was a spark between them.”

The insider insisted: “She is absolutely adamant nothing sexual happened between them. She also was 100 per cent single at the time and could chat to anyone she wanted.”

Former TOWIE star Dan is also adamant there was no romance between the pair with a pal saying: “Dan is devoted to Jacqueline and would hate for any suggestion of impropriety. Of course, it’s possible for a man and woman to be mates.”

Considering swimwear makes up about 75% of all the outfits on the show, it’s no surprise that the girls have brought the best of the best with them. And there is one retro-inspired trend taking over our screens for the first episode.

The trend in question is O-ring bikinis and swimming costumes. What that design detail involves is gold or silver rings that connect fabric together, and they’re typically placed at the chest, hips or shoulder straps. This trend spiked in popularity in the ‘70s and has made a strong comeback in recent years. And this year, all the girls seems to be opting for trendy metal accent swimwear.

If you want to copy this trend for the summer months, we’ve found where to shop the exact Love Island looks plus similar styles.

Former Made In Chelsea star Sophie Habboo has opened up about a “really bad” craving that she’s experienced during her pregnancy. It was brought up by her husband Jamie Laing on an episode of their podcast released this week.

Sophie, 30, and Jamie, 36, announced that they are expecting a baby together last week. Their joint post on Instagram included footage from an ultrasound scan and Sophie has since showcased her baby bump in several photos.

The couple also shared some career news with fans after the pregnancy announcement. Sophie and Jamie revealed that their podcast would be rebranded as they embark on a “new chapter”.

The podcast was formerly called NearlyWeds and then NewlyWeds, following their wedding in 2023. It will now be called NearlyParents in the lead-up to the birth of their first child.

In their debut episode, titled We’re Having A Baby, which was released today, Sophie and Jamie spoke about discovering that she was pregnant among other topics related to the news. It included discussing pregnancy cravings.

They told listeners that at one point Sophie had a craving for caviar, though she said that she didn’t end up eating any after looking into the prospect. Jamie said: “You didn’t eat it but you had a craving for it and I put a stop to it.”

He shared on the podcast: “Sophie said ‘Oh, it’s really annoying. I’ve got a really bad craving’. And I said ‘Well, what is the craving?’ She said ‘Caviar.’ So, we went to a store.”

Sophie said that the couple went around London at 8pm that night in an attempt to find a store that sold caviar and was open. Apologising to her husband, she said: “I’m sorry, please don’t hate me!”

Jamie added: “We found a caviar store and we went in there, and there was caviar there. And I was like, ‘Okay, we’re surely not buying this. The pot was £240, and I was like, that craving has to stop there and then. And thank God, you came to your senses.”

Sophie said: “I didn’t come to my senses. I Googled it. It says I can’t eat it. […] I was going to give birth and then just be broke and never, ever be able like to eat again.”

Sophie and Jamie, who are both former Made In Chelsea stars, wed in 2023 in ceremonies held in London and Spain. The couple had announced their engagement on Instagram in 2021, revealing that Jamie popped the question at the London hotel where they had their first date.

Jodie Comer reveals very unusual ways he chooses new roles after eye-opening moment

Killing Eve legend Jodie Comer has revealed the usual way she chooses new roles, admitting she follows her instincts nowadays as she prepares to tour with a play

Jodie says she gets emotional more than feeling rage these days (Image: Scandebergs/GQ)

Jodie Comer says she relies on her instincts when choosing new roles to play. The actor, 32, will be in a touring version of the play Prima Facie and stars in new post-apocalyptic horror sequel 28 Years Later.

Looking back on her work in Free Guy, a 2021 action comedy starring Ryan Reynolds, she says it gave her a moment of clarity about her career: “It was my first film and I had the most amazing experience on that job – they were just the most gentle, inclusive, supportive people, and it was incredibly fun… But I realised, when I was coming home, Ah, there’s something I’m not feeling. I feel like I’m not stretching. Or not discovering. And I realised that it was the emotional part of it. I wasn’t exercising [that] part of myself.”

Speaking to GQ, she added: “I realised that’s actually where I get my fulfilment – trying to find those places. If the instincts aren’t there, if I’m not excited by it, then I just don’t want to go near it because then I’m pulling from an artificial place. It feels almost dishonest with myself.”

In 28 Days Later a virus called “rage” has obliterated the country. But in real life she struggles to summon up her own rage and it often turns to another emotion.

Jodie said: “I’ve realised my own [rage] just immediately goes to a very emotional place – my anger can so quickly go to tears. I think I swallow it as well,. I think, as women, we suppress it and that’s probably why I have trouble accessing it – I’ve done that so much that it feels kind of foreign, like I’m not quite sure where to pull it from.”

The actor, who is best known for playing Villanelle in BBC spy series Killing Eve previously starred in a run of Prima Facie in London’s West End in 2022. It follows the story of a barrister named Tessa, who specialises in defending men accused of sexual assault, and whose view of the legal system changes after she is sexually assaulted herself.

Speaking about the reaction to the play from men, she said: “I imagine it’s quite confronting, I don’t know. Maybe also, when they read what it’s about, they think, ‘well, that’s not something that’s directed at me’.

“I imagine, for a man, it will force them to look back at their own behaviour, which I imagine would be – or could be – potentially very uncomfortable. But (sexual assault) isn’t ‘a woman’s issue’, you know what I mean?”

She added that a male police officer who had visited the show wrote a letter to the production afterwards. Jodie said: “I don’t think I’ve had a deep, meaningful conversation with many men about the play, actually.

“I do know there was a male police officer that came in one night, and he wrote in to the production.

“He was kind of saying, ‘this is me – I see myself, and I recognise the kind of work that needs to be done as a police officer’.”

The actor, who is best known for playing Villanelle in BBC spy series Killing Eve, said many women had contacted the production after seeing it to share their personal stories.

Speaking about the interactions, she explained: “It’s so beautiful, and it’s so rare, for someone to look you in the eyes and share something of themselves, and there’s so much that isn’t said, but even in just the briefest of moments, it’s like, ‘that was me, or, I feel that’.”

Justin Baldoni’s £294m defamation lawsuit against Blake Lively thrown out by US judge

Justin Baldoni’s $400m lawsuit against It Ends With Us co-star Blake Lively has been dismissed, according to reports. The legal debate kicked off following Blake and Justin’s time working together on the film, that was released last summer.

Blake initially launched a sexual harassment lawsuit against Justin – who has strongly refuted the claims. However, he hit back with a $400million defamation claim against her, her publicist and husband Ryan Reynolds, all of whom have dismissed the accusations.

Additionally, Justin launched a $250 million libel case against the New York Times over their coverage of Blake’s allegations. However, the $400million lawsuit has reportedly now been dismissed.

The pair worked together on film It Ends With Us

A spokesperson for Blake told the Daily Mail: “Today’s opinion is a total victory and a complete vindication for Blake Lively, along with those that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties dragged into their retaliatory lawsuit, including Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Sloane and The New York Times.

“As we have said from day one, this ‘$400 million’ lawsuit was a sham, and the Court saw right through it. We look forward to the next round, which is seeking attorneys’ fees, treble damages and punitive damages against Baldoni, Sarowitz, Nathan, and the other Wayfarer Parties who perpetrated this abusive litigation.”

Last month, Blake’s pal Taylor Swift was dragged into the scandal when she was officially subpoenaed to appear as a witness. The pop star was delivered a legal notice by Justin’s lawyer Bryan Freedman – a decision which had been slammed by her team as a tactic to create clickbait.

In a move that appeared to please Blake and Taylor, it was confirmed Justin would no longer be calling on the Bad Blood hitmaker to appear as a witness. Bryan Freedman had claimed Blake had called on “her high-profile friends” including Taylor to “manipulate Justin at every turn.”

Taylor, who is close friends with Blake, licensed her hit song My Tears Ricochet to be used in the film but was not involved in the making of It Ends With Us, said her reps.

They slammed the subpoena, claiming it was “designed to use Taylor Swift ’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”

Justin’s legal team dropped the subpoena last month, as Blake’s spokesperson said they were “pleased” with the decision. “We supported the efforts of Taylor’s team to quash these inappropriate subpoenas directed to her counsel, and we will continue to stand up for any third party who is unjustly harassed or threatened in the process,” they told People.

“The Baldoni and Wayfarer team have tried to put Taylor Swift, a woman who has been an inspiration for tens of millions across the globe, at the center of this case since day one,” they claimed.

They alleged that “exploiting Taylor Swift’s celebrity was the original plan in [PR professional] Melissa Nathan’s scenario planning document, and it continues to this day.”

“Faced with having to justify themselves in federal court, they folded. At some point they will run out of distractions from the actual claims of sexual harassment and retaliation they are facing,” they said.

The Mirror has contacted Justin’s representative for comment.
