‘I went pumpkin spice copper for the weekend with a wash-out £15 tint that made my hair so glossy’

Grace, a shopping writer for Mirror, tested a £15 wash-out tint on her hair to see if she could go pumpkin spice copper over the weekend. As a result, she tested the wash-out tint.

What better color to use than copper pumpkin spice for my hair to get ready for the season than this weekend to lean in to the fullness of autumn? Copper has grown in popularity as a popular autumn hair color thanks to searches for “copper hair dye” increasing by 80% in the UK over the past three months.

And I was so excited to try out this current auburn tone on my own. My hair was naturally ginger and vibrant when I was younger, but as I got older, it started to gradually turn blonde/brown hybrids, which I’m starting to tire of.

However, I decided to stick to a tinted gloss or color-depositing mask rather than make a permanent commitment, which is really not my style. I made the decision to try out a Josh Wood Color Hair Gloss after doing extensive research.

I had a few concerns that the Copper Gold tint would turn my hair too artificially orange for my liking, but my hair does. I therefore made the perfect shade by combining Copper Gold and a small amount of Caramel.

The gloss, priced at £15 on Amazon, is essentially a semi-permanent home hair colour treatment mask enriched with perilla oil and shea butter that helps to deeply condition your locks, while providing a colour refresh.

The procedure was impossible to simplify. To clean, damp hair, simply apply the product like you would a hair mask. Allow it to work its magic for 10 to 20 minutes (I would suggest 20), then rinse. My hair was transformed into the warm, coppery vibes I was looking for in less than 30 minutes.

The gloss was what most bothered me. I almost looked like I had a salon treatment, with my hair looking healthier, smoother, and shinier.

The gloss is designed to last for up to six washes, making it the ideal low-commitment method for testing out different color combinations of hair.

After about three washes, my tint mostly dried out. I wasn’t surprised to see the tint wash out pretty quickly because red pigments don’t stick to the cuticle of the hair as well as other colors, making copper tones much harder to maintain than browns and blondes. This is largely because brown pigments don’t.

I had some leftover bleach from a balayage last summer, so I was skeptical that the gloss would cling unevenly to areas of light in my hair. However, I had no problem with this at all.

America’s Got Talent’s Drew Lynch halts live show as fan suffers heart attack in crowd

Drew Lynch, who appeared on America’s Got Talent, was forced to bring a performance to a halt after a man in the crowd suffered a heart attack during his show

An America’s Got Talent star was forced to halt his stand-up show after a man suffered a heart attack mid-set. Drew Lynch was performing in Washington when the incident, involving an elderly man, unfolded.

During the performance in Spokane last week, Drew became emotional as the medical emergency caused him to stop his show. He later explained it was “one of the most powerful examples of community and human connection.” Drew, 34, noticed that something was happening in the audience at his crowd when he called out: “Oh hey, everything okay?”

The crowd surrounding the 84-year-old man responded: “No,” as people started to rush over to help the man, who was later identified as Mr Wende, and started performing CPR. A woman in the crowd confirmed she’d started chest compressions but was unable to find a pulse, as another woman offered to help and be the “second”.

But as the situation appeared to worsen, a crowd grew around the elderly gentleman, with Drew informing the crowd to “make some room”. Paramedics later arrived but Mr Wende, who at this point regained consciousness and was lifted onto a stretcher and taken to the emergency department.

“Great job everybody,” said one audience member as the crowd started cheering and applauding. A visibly moved Drew wiped away tears from his eyes, telling the crowd: “That was incredible dude.

“Like, I know we’re here making jokes and doing a bunch of s***. But you guys all really just came together in a really cool way dude. You saved that guys life man. I mean that was crazy.”

He went on to add: “You guys worked together so fast, that was nuts, man.” An audience member yelled: “Spokane does care!” Drew continued: “To just witness that, I mean – that was crazy, I have literally the hardest job in the world now, and that’s mostly what this is about.”

Still moved by what had unfolded, an audience member handed Drew a tissue as he continued to wipe away his tears. “I’m dabbing my eyes, I’m like a widow at a funeral right now,” he said, before adding: “Can you guys give a hand to the people that saved that guys life?”

Taking to Instagram after the incident, Drew shared a snap of himself and Mr Wade, taken in the hospital. He said: “He had no pulse for over 5 minutes when, by a miracle of God and the efforts of people in that room that night, they were able to revive him. I’ve never seen anything like it. The community came together by putting aside any identity or ego for one shared goal- and that was successfully bringing Mr. Wende back to life.”

He revealed that he visited Mr Wende in hospital the day after in order to finish the show for him, but he and the gentleman spent “hours” laughing with one another. “In a divided world filled with hurt and uncertainty, we overlook how fragile the time is that we even get to be here. It feels like we forget that we’re all the same underneath… we’re all human. Shout out to the city of Spokane, the medical professionals, and the Wende family for bringing this beautiful man into my life and reminding me how special community is,” Drew said.

Drew later revealed that he has kept in touch with Mr Wende and speaks to him via FaceTime, as he’s now recuporating in a rehabilitation centre close to his home in Spokane.

BBC star Jamie Laing says ‘I’m sorry’ after snubbing Spencer Matthews

Spencer Matthews and Jamie Laing were close friends on Made in Chelsea but drifted apart as a seemingly mysterious rift developed between the two

Jamie Laing said “I’m sorry” after Spencer Matthews revealed he was left “hurt” and “confused” when he was left off the guestlist at Jamie’s wedding. The duo had forged a tight bond during their stint on Made in Chelsea, with Jamie even serving as officiant at Spencer’s televised wedding ceremony.

However, when Jamie wed Sophie Habboo in London in 2023, a month prior to their second Spanish ceremony, Spencer was notably absent from the guest list. Spencer has previously confessed he felt “p****d off” about missing out on the celebrations.

The pair have now had a heart-to-heart about what went wrong as their friendship began to deteriorate, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The rift even resulted in endurance athlete Spencer skipping Jamie’s Ultra Marathon challenge, which saw him trek from London to Manchester for Comic Relief.

Speaking on Jamie’s Great Company podcast, Spencer confessed that being left off the wedding guest list “hurt” him deeply. He revealed: “I found it pretty confusing. I was pretty hurt by that and I tried to brush that under the table and I’m sure it wasn’t malicious from you.”

The 37-year-old discovered Jamie’s London nuptials after his wife Vogue showed him a newspaper piece about it.

He explained: “I think we had had some conversation and you said it’s not really a friends thing, it’s like a small family thing, and there were loads of friends there.

“I remember thinking, ‘What have I done’ or like, ‘What have I done to annoy him’, and Vogue was like, ‘It’s pretty weird that you wouldn’t be invited to that’, and I just thought, ‘It is a real shame that I wasn’t invited to that’.”

Spencer admitted that he initially tried to “brush it off”, but soon realised the snub “did matter” to him. Jamie, 36, then revealed the “true reason” for not inviting Spencer was due to his wife Sophie’s anxiety.

He elaborated: “The true reason for it was this, during the wedding Soph was very anxious and having a really tough time with anxiety around getting married, and I’d put her doing this podcast all about the wedding and she had said to me before, ‘I just want to get married with my feet in the sand. I don’t want all of this, you want all of this Jamie’.”

Jamie further explained that he was concerned that Spencer, who had declined an invitation to his stag-do, might not “want to come” to the ceremony and feared it would be “weird”. This led him to decide against inviting his fellow Made in Chelsea star.

Spencer, who has struggled with alcoholism, expressed that he would have “loved” to attend the ceremony but acknowledged that stag-dos “aren’t for me”. Jamie suggested that Spencer missing the stag-do could have also spared him the dilemma of whether or not to drink.

Despite everything, Jamie did apologise to Spencer. He confessed: “I think, firstly the biggest mistake I made is not communicating with you, and I was very selfish, just focusing on my own emotions, and I’ve said this before, I’m sorry that happened and if I could take it back…and even Sophie today says it’s really bad.”
